"WE ARE HAVING A BALL." Rebekah spoke as the two walk. Cora purses her lips with a slight smile. "I've found myself a date. The gentleman Aaron Wollard." She spoke and Cora immediately recognizes the name to be of a wealthy man. "I expect you to be there."
Cora hadn't packed much gowns but figured she'll be able to find something in her bag..right? "Well, it really depends on the dance." She chuckles softly. "I can do a waltz, nothing else."
Rebekah considers it. For the first time, she enjoyed a humans company because Cora seemed to understand. She listened and understood, if she didn't understand, she would try to. It seems like Cora was too good to be true. Of course, Rebekah knew the girl would eventually grow old and sos he was considering on turning the girl to one of them.
"Hm. I was thinking tango but waltz it is." Rebekah sends her a warm smile that the human gladly returns. "Come to my house at five P.M. sharp, bring your gown and leave everything else to me." She smiles cheekily at the girl before walking away.
Cora bites her lip before lifting the ends of her gown and hurrying home. She wanted to make sure she had a beautiful gown. Rebekah and her family were knowingly wealthy, she didn't want to show up in a gown that would make her look like she had just picked up and put on. The thought made her shake her head.
When she makes it home, she sees Maximus making her smile. She wanted to take care of him. She looks at her pocket watch and it's still 10 A.M. in the morning which gave her time. She hurries in her house, slips on her nightgown then goes to the barn.
Cora begins removing, changing and cleaning his shoes, she was removing the dirty around the hoof using a hoof pick, but of course, being careful since in the middle part, it was most sensitive. She cleans everything up quickly then when she looks up, she wipes the sweat before setting his foot down. She looks at Maximus.
After finishing, she was about to walk on her house when she notices a box on the ground. Her head tilts to the side and she picks up the box before entering her house, closing the door with her feet. She walks inside to her bedroom and opens the box to see a large gown and diamond necklace with a letter.
Save me a dance?
- Klaus
Her eyebrows shoot up as heat rushes to her cheeks. She smiles lightly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She pulls out the gown and her jaw drops, eyebrows shooting up. Sure, I'm Mystic Falls she was wealthy but this gown could cost a fortune, not to mention the beautiful diamond necklace that made her gape at it.
With the beautiful new gown, she felt excited. She wasn't sure if Klaus was her date but, at least she would have someone to dance with. And, almost everyone in town knew she didn't like wearing corsets, so, Klaus made sure the dress didn't have a corset and that made her even more relieved.
-
Rebekah had finished doing her makeup and hair. Cora had put on her gown, gloves, had the maids that Rebekah had gotten do her makeup and now, they're working on her hair. They put small flowers and beads to compliment her hair while leaving it in a waterfall style with curls at the bottom. The front of her hair had two strands purposely out and curled to help embellish her face.
A groan escapes Rebekahs lips when the maid does the corset a bit too tight. "Watch it." She snaps at the maiden and Cora frowns at the girl.
"Excuse me." Cora tells the maidens, smiling lightly and walking over to the maid. "May I?" She questions and the maid hesitantly steps away. Cora pulls out the strings of the corset.
Rebekah frowns with a gasp. "What in earth do you think you're doing?!"
"Corsets are overrated and unneeded, just don't wear one."
Rebekah watches as Cora takes off her the corset and tilts her head at the mirror before her lips curl up. "You're right, corsets are overrated." She agrees and turns to the girl. "You look beautiful."
"As do you." Cora clears her throat and looks down. "Rebekah, this gown doesn't belong to me."
Rebekah eyebrows furrow. "You stole it?" She smirks. "I never took you for the rebellion type. Done worry, I don't judโ"
"No, of course not." Cora quickly objects before smiling apologetically. "Klaus gave it to me. He uh, wanted me to save him a dance."
Rebekah frowns for a moment before nodding. "Alright but if you need anything, I'll be right there." She smiles and Cora nods. "Shall we?" She links her arms with the human.
"We shall." Cora grins and they walk out of the room then make it to the top of the stairs. "I've never really liked going down the stairs in the middle of a crowd. The possibilities of tripping is too frightening, do you agree, Bekah?"
Rebekah never had to deal with that. "Maybe for you." She shrugs as they make their way down the stairs.
Klaus, who was chatting, more like threatening Rebekahs date not to hurt her, stopped talking when he heard the girls voice. His lips part as he watches her walk down the stairs, noticing how she no longer wore the vervain necklace. His eyebrows furrow and wasn't sure on what to do.
He mindlessly got her a dress because when he thought of who he wanted to dance with, she would keep popping to mind. Whenever he wanted to paint, she would come to mind. She just keeps coming to mind. Out of all the girls in town, he wanted to dance with her and bought her a gown and necklace to make sure she'd come.
When she makes it to the middle of the staircase after laughing at something Rebekah told her, her eyes meet his and her laugh slowly dies down. He doesn't even notice Aaron walking away to greet Rebekah until they made it to the bottom of the stairs.
Klaus had done as much research about her as possible and found out a couple of things.
He rolls his eyes when Aaron and Cora shake hands and he listens in on the conversation. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You wouldn't mind if I steal away Rebekah, would you?" Aaron asks.
"Of course not. You two have fun." Cora waves her fingers lightly and turns to look back at where Klaus stood but, he was no longer there. Her eyebrows furrow in confusion with a frown.
"Greetings, Ms.Salvatore." She spun to see Klaus standing there, a cheeky grin on his lips with his hands behind his back. He takes steps closer to her before removing his hand from his back and taking her hand, placing a soft kiss on it while she blushes. "I didn't think you would come." He admits.
Cora lightly pulls away her hands. "Well, if I hadn't, then Rebekah would have my head on a stick." She mumbles as he chuckles. "And I value my life."
They begin walking together. "Ah, yes. I apologize on my behavior the other week." He said. "I shouldn't have been insensitive on Katerinas death."
"I don't think you're really sorry." Cora looks at him and he smirks lightly. "Katherine was burned alive. My brothers lost their lives trying to save her. I saw things I shouldn't have seen and what's greater than turning a leaf?" She questions.
Klaus' lips pursed. "What was it you saw?"
Cora only smiles at him then continues walking, fastening her pace and he quickly catches up with her as they walk into another room and she's met by countless paintings. "Did you paint those?"
"Yeah, um..." Klaus saw how her eyes sparkled with curiosity. Not much people had ever paid mind to his paintings. "actually one of my landscapes is hanging at the Hermitage, not that anyone would notice."
Cora smiles lightly at him. "I would. All these paintings are beautiful." She tilts her head to the side and then looks at a sketch that was of her. "Is that me?"
Klaus looks at the sketch. "I was thinking of you." He shrugs mindlessly and she clears her throat. "You seem to capture my thoughts."
"Rebekah says you've been to countless places." Klaus watches as she traces her gloved fingers softly over the paintings. "Tell me about it."
"Great cities and art and music, genuine beauty." Klaus takes a step closer and she turns to look at him.
"What about this necklace?" Cora asks.
Klaus smiles lightly. "Well, that's a long story. But rest assured it was worn by a princess almost as beautiful as you." He spoke and she laughs, looking down and tucking a strand of hair behind her ears. "The dance is starting. Let's get going."
Cora nods and begins walking out with him on her tail. Cora let the words repeat through her mind 'it was worn by a princess almost as beautiful as you', she felt her cheeks heat up more and Klaus listens in on her heartbeat before watching as it slowly cools down as she was internally scolding herself.
They make it to the ballroom and get to their positions. They link arms, taking two steps forward. As they turn, Klaus looks at her but she keeps her eyes ahead before feeling his stare and looking at him, swallowing the lump in her throat before looking forward again.
Klaus could tell she's nervous. "You're nervous."
"I didn't realize I made it obvious." Cora admitted and he shakes his head, spinning her and she puts a hand on his shoulder. He puts a hand on her lower back as their other hands intertwine.
"You shouldn't be nervous." Klaus spoke and she sighs. "You're the most beautiful girl in this room, or perhaps," he pulls her closer head going close to her ear. "the most beautiful girl in this town." His lips graze down on her ear before standing straight, smirking at her flushed face.
"Don't be ridiculous." Cora chuckles and looks at Rebekah.
Klaus stares at her before changing the subject. "You're quite the dancer."
Cora smiles lightly and looks at him. "Well, in Mystic Falls, I happened to be miss Mystic Falls." She spoke with a proud tone.
Klaus smiles, his dimples showing. "I know."
"You do?" Cora asks in surprise and he nods. "I see you've done your research."
He spins her again. "I have."
-
Cora stood outside with the horses, a smile on the corner of her lips. She pets the horse, softly caressing the horses face. She was confused on why Klaus even invited her to the dance. They have had a bit conversations but it was all awkward. Let alone on the reason he got her a gown and necklace that belonged to a princess.
"You have a horse, right?" His voice interrupts her thoughts and she looks at him.
"Yes. I named him Maximus." Cora sighs then looks at him. "I need answers on why you invited me here and get me such valuable objects and keep following me around."
"I fancy you." Coras head snaps towards him. "All those compliments, the dress and necklace, I don't just give it to anyone." Klaus takes a step forward. "Is that so hard to believe?"
"I find it very hard to believe, Niklaus."
"Why? You're beautiful, you're strong, you're full of light, you know what you want. I enjoy you." Klaus spoke and she stares at him.
Cora swallows the lump in her throat as Klaus steps closer to her. His hand softly go to her cheek and nose brush over hers yet they made no move to lean on more. The moon illuminated down at the two and just as Klaus leans in, someone screams.
"Nik!" Rebekah rushes to Coras side and grabs the girls arm. "Cora, leave right now!" She yells and Cora frowns.
"Pardon..?"
Rebekah noticed she didn't wear the vervain necklace. "Leave." She compels and Cora turns on her heels, walking away.
Rebekah looks at Klaus. "What do you think you're doing?!" Klaus yells.
The original blonde shoves him. "How dare you try and compel her to kiss you?!" She screams.
"I didn't compel her!"
Rebekahs scoffed. "But you were going to kiss..?"
"Yes, until you decided to interrupt us." Klaus storms away.
Feelings are confirmed but I wasn't going to let them kiss in the fifth chapter.
Even though I wrote this book, I forgot when they're going to kiss๐ฉโ๐ฆฏ
