โKenma's.. still not here?
We're about to warm up.โ
Yaku noted as his gaze followed
his captain's worried stare
to the tribune.
โHe didn't text me either.
I mean, it's not too rare that
he's a bit late sometimes.
Since he hasn't been sleeping well,
he might have slept in and will
be there when we actually start?โ
It was more of a question than
an actual explanation and Yaku
was very sure that Kuroo was just
desperately trying to find a plausible
reason for his boyfriend's absence
to ease his worries.
โMhm, since we have two games
today, he might try to rest as much
as possible at home so he won't
get too tired.โ
But despite his biggest efforts
to believe the other's words,
Tetsuro couldn't shake off the worry.
He needed to see his boyfriend
with his own eyes to make
sure he was okay.
And not even receiving a message
from the blonde didn't help either.
โMaybe see it like this.
If Kenma would have the baby,
he'd definitely contact you, right?โ
โRight.โ
โSweetie, are you really going?
You don't look well.โ
Mrs Kozume frowned as she
watched her son come down
with slow, careful steps, tightly
holding onto the handrail while
his other hand was resting
โI'll be fine, the others are
probably already waiting for me.
I'm pretty late.โ
Kenma huffed once he reached
the floor and caressed his belly
in hope to ease the ache that
was building up again.
โThen let me at least drive you, hm?โ
โMom, I'm fine. I'll take the
subway like any other day.โ
But the skeptical look on his
mother's face stayed.
She knew her son long enough to
see how unwell he was feeling.
And she didn't like how
Kenma ignored it.
โSweetie, you're heavily pregnant.
You should be in bed resting,
not stressing that you'll be too
late to some volleyball game.โ
โIt's not just some volleyball game.
It's- urgh..โ
The blonde suddenly groaned
as he clutched his belly, the intense
pain almost knocking him over.
And when he looked up with wide,
shocked eyes, his mother only
returned the look of horror but
her gaze was fixed on the forming
puddle at her son's feet.
His water had broken.
โYou! Stay here and don't move.
I'll get your dad.โ
Kuroo really tried.
He tried to stay focused,
he tried not to show it to
his teammates how worried
he was now that the game
was about to begin and there
was still no trace of his small
cat-like boyfriend.
At some point he had to leave
his phone in his bag because he
couldn't take it with him on the
court and this didn't help either.
And still his hard trying was useless.
Everyone noticed that his mind
was far gone and not really with
them on the court and it did
affect the others too.
Kuroo was their captain,
the one who normally gave
the team stability.
Without him being there 100%,
this game was bound to
be a hard one.
โTetsuro!โ
The ravenette immediately turned
his head to the person calling him,
the familiar voice and the urgency
it carried making his chest ache.
His mother stood at the side of the
court, waving at him while trying
to regain her breath.
She must have run the whole
way from the parking area to the
gymnasium, something was going on.
Kenma.
The coach immediately picked up
on the situation and took a timeout
so Kuroo could rush to his mother,
his whole body now trembling.
โMom!โ
โDarling, we need to go.
I-it's Kenma. He's in labor.โ
โI- What? I need to, he needs.. I..
I will go talk to the coach, can you
go get my stuff? It's with the
two girls over there.โ
Kuroo stuttered as he pointed
at their two managers, unable to
hide how overwhelmed he was
with the fact that his biggest
concern had come true.
โOkay, hurry. We'll meet up
at the main door. Then we'll
go straight to the hospital.โ
But the ravenette only managed
to nod before he rushed off back
to his team, a shake exhale leaving
him when everyone looked at
him with big, expecting eyes.
โI.. I need to go.
Kenma's in labor.โ
โHe's having the baby?โ
โYeah.โ
โAs in.. right now?โ
โYeah, kinda.โ
โEnough with that, boys.
Kuroo, please go.
We'll manage without you.โ
Coach Nekomata gave the ravenette
a smile and a thumbs up, making
Kuroo nod thankfully.
โGood luck, captain!
We'll rock this here for you!โ
And Kuroo couldn't help but tear
up slightly at the sight of all his
teammates giving him big,
reassuring smiles.
โAlright, I'll go then. Everyone..
I'm gonna be a dad!โ
And just like that the ravenette
was gone, leaving the others
to win this game.
โGreat, so our captain is gone
now because our vice captain
is pushing his kid out. Really?โ
โDarling, calm down.
You're going to faint if you
continue being so nervous.
That's not going to help
your boyfriend at all.โ
Kuroo's mom sighed as she
reached over to grab her son's
hand, giving it a gentle squeeze
before she went back to
changing gears.
โI can't help it. How long has
he been in the hospital now?
Since when is he in labor?
He didn't text or call
this morning.โ
โI'm not sure but Mrs Kozume
called me around half an hour
ago, saying they had just arrived
in the hospital.โ
โHe's really.. he's really having
our baby now. I can't believe..
I'm going to be a dad soon.โ
Mrs Kuroo briefly looked over
at her son, a soft smile growing
on her face seeing him almost
shaking from nervousness but
at the same time his eyes were
sparkling with thousands
of little stars.
โYou'll be a great one, darling.โ
