Chapter Thirteen
🦎 Omega 🦎

Lydia struggles a small bit to get out of bed making her father steps over to assist her but Wren stepped forward, holding her hand up to him before helping Lydia. "You want help getting in the shower?" Their father asked and Lydia just gives him a look whole grabbing Wren's arm, "Maybe if I was four, and still taking bubble baths. Wren can help me." Lydia said and Wren helped her to the bathroom.

"Right. I'll just wait outside, then... Where it's slightly less sarcastic." Mr. Martin said then walked out if the room. Closing Lydia's door behind him, Mr. Martin notices Stiles, with a "get well soon" balloon tied to his wrist. sleeping across across a couple stairs in the waiting room and turns to Melissa. "Has he been here all night?" He asked making her glance at Stiles.

"He's been here all weekend." She said as Wren walked out of the room and looked at Stiles. She sighed softly making her father look at her, "Who is he?" He asked and she gave him a look. "Oh you know, just my best friend of eight years." She said before shrugging slightly, "Not that you'd know since you never really paid attention." She said make him sigh and look down awkwardly.

Wren started to walk over to Stiles as a cleaning lady started changing the trash bag in the bin next to him. "You... you're dirty." Stiles mumbled in his sleep making the the cleaning lady look at him with a bewildered look. "Stiles." Wren said poking his forehead making him jump up and slightly look around before noticing her. "Did you have a sex dream?" She asked making his eyes widen, "What? No. Gross." He said quickly making her laugh.

"Wanna come with me to get a snack?" She asked and he nodded while clearing his throat slightly, still embarrassed. "Let's pretend that you didn't hear anything while I was asleep." Stiles said as they walked making her laugh, "Oh, I planned on making it my senior quote." She said making him give her a look as they walked up to a vending machine.

Stiles puts some change into the vending machine and picks a reeses, but, of course, it gets stuck making him groan, "Seriously?" He taps on the plexiglass window of the machine. The candy bar doesn't budge so he gives the glass a smack, nothing. He pounds on it with a fist, still nothing.

"Don't break it." Wren said, chucking as she watch him. "I'm not gonna break it." Stiles said making her raise her eyebrows, "Everytime Stiles Stilinski says those words, the opposite happens." She said and he rolled his eyes.

Stiles spreads his legs for maximum leverage and awkwardly grips the sides of the vending machine to shake the candy bar loose. "What are you doing?" Wren asked looking at him weird, "I'm trying to get it out." He said.

He rocks the machine back and forth. Just as the candy bar is almost slipping free the entire vending machine lurches forward and slams down onto the floor with a loud crash. Stiles freezes. He stares down at the very heavy machine now laying on its face right in front of him, while Wren laughs across from him. "What did I say?" She asked making him shoot her a look.

He went to say something but stopped when he saw the smile on Wren's face slowly fall as she furrowed her brows while seeming distant  "Wren?" He asked moving around the vending to lightly grab her arms, "What's wrong?" He asked and she shook her head slightly. "Something's wrong. Somethings wrong with-" She said in a slight whisper before getting cut off.

Suddenly a loud scream rips through the hospital, "Lydia." Wren whispered before she immediately took off towards Lydia's room, Stiles following. She threw the door open right as Melissa and Mr. Martin ran over. She ran over to the bathroom, opening the door to see the shower still running and her sister nowhere to be seen.

Wren looked around confused until she noticed the open window near the shower.

"All right, let's get an A-P-B out for a sixteen year-old red-head. Any other descriptors?" Stilinski asked Melissa and Wren popped up in between them, Stiles behind her. "She's five-three, green eyes, fair-skinned,  and her hair is strawberry blonde, not red." Wren said making Stilinski raise his eyebrows at her.

"Is that right?" He said and she gunned and nodded, "Okay, I can understand why you're still here, but why are you?" Stilinski asked looking at his son who then pointed at Wren. "Providing moral support." He said and Wren nodded in agreement.

"Uh-huh. How 'bout you prove your ass back home, where you should be?" Stilinski said looking at his son who nodded then he looked at Wren, "And you, please go home and get some actual rest." He said and Wren nodded and gave him a thumbs up.

🦎

In the hospital parking lot, Wren climbed into the back of the jeep and Stiles jumps behind the wheel. Scott sat in the passenger seat as Wren handed him Lydia's hospital gown. "This is the one she was just wearing?" He asked and Wren nodded. Scott follows her worried gaze to spots of dried blood on the fabric.

"I'm not gonna let anyone hurt her. Not again." Scott said making her look at him and nod slightly, "I know. Now shove the thing in your face and let's find her." She said. Scott raises the gown to his nose to catch Lydia's scent as Stiles clicks on the headlights to reveal Allison making the guys jump. Scott rolled down his window as Allison ran over to the passenger side. "What are you doing here? Someone's gonna see us!"

"I don't care- she's one of my best friends, and we need to find her before they do." Allison said, "I can find her before the cops." Scott said and Allison raised her eyebrows. "How about before my father does." She said making Wren lean over the seat, "He know?" She asked and Allison nodded. "Yeah. I just saw him and three other guys leave my house in two SUVs." She said making them all glance at each other.

"Search party." Scott said and Wren raised her eyebrows, "Lydia got bit by an Alpha and the Argents are looking for her. It's more like a hunting party." She said and Scott looked at Allison.

"Get in."

🦎

"All right, but if she's turning, would they actually kill her?" Stiles asked after they had been driving for a few minutes, "I don't know. They won't tell me anything, okay? All they say is. "We'll talk after Kate's funeral, when the others get here."" Allison said making Wren look at her, "What others?" She asked and Allison sighed and shrugged. "I don't know, they won't tell me that yet." Allison said.

"Okay, your family's got some serious communication issues to work on. Scott, are we going the right way?" Stiles asked and they both turn to Scott who has his head out the Jeep window, air blasting in his face.

"Take the next right!"

🦎

Under an eerie quiet, Scott, Allison and Stiles approach the rotted and burned Hale House. Yellow police tape stretches across the windows and door. "She came here? You're sure?" Stiles asked as they looked around and Scott nodded, "This is where the scent leads."

"But has Lydia ever been here?" Stiles asked looking back at Wren and Allison who shook their head, "Not with us." Allison said and Wren nodded in agreement. "Maybe she came here on instinct. Like she was looking for Derek?" Allison suggested and Wren nodded in agreement, "Looking for an Alpha." Wren said and Allison nodded.

"Wolves need a pack, right?" Allison asked and Scott shook his head slightly, "Not all of them." Scott said, obviously talking about himself. "But would she have been drawn to an Alpha? Is it an instinct to be part of a pack?" Allison asked and Scott reluctantly nodded, 'Yeah, we're-we're stronger in packs."

"Like, strength in numbers?" Allison asked and Scott shook his head, "No, like-like, literally stronger, faster. Better in every way." He asked and she raised her eyebrows. "Is that the same for an Alpha?" She asked and he nodded, "That'll make Derek stronger, too." He said.

Before Allison can ask anything else, Stiles waves them over. "Hey, look at this. You see this?" He kneels in front of a thin wire stretched between two trees, "I think it's a tripwire." He said and then pulls back on the wire, triggering the mechanism. They each glance up at the sound of something slicing through the air. Behind them Scott is yanked off his feet.

"Stiles." Scott called out making them turn around around, "Yeah buddy-" They turn around to see Scott hanging off the ground, his ankles bound by tight cord making Wren laugh. "Next time you see a tripwire? Don't trip it."

"Noted." Stiles said and then he, Wren and Allison move forward to help Scott down but he stopped them, "Wait." They pause, holding still while Scott focuses on the sounds around them. He hears footsteps. Moving fast. "Someone's coming. Hide. Go!"

Stiles grabbed Wren's arm hand and pulled her behind a tree while Allison ran behind another one. A few seconds later Argent and a few other hunters walked up to Scott with a smirk. "Scott." Argent said, crouching down in front of him, "Mr. Argent." Scott said nodding slightly. "How are you doing?"

"Good. You know, just hangin' out." Scott said and Wren rolled her eyes at the pun, "Is this one of yours? It's, uh, good. Nice design. Very constricting." Scott said and Argent just sighed. "What are you doing here Scott?" Argent asked, "Looking for my friends." Scott answered. "Ahh... That's right. Lydia's in your group now, isn't she? Part of the clique? Is that the word you use? Or is there another way to put it? Part of your pack?" He asked and Scott shook his head.

"Actually, "clique" sounds about right to me."

"I hope so... 'Cause I know she's a friend of Allison's, and one special circumstance such as yourself? One, I can handle. Not two. Scott, do you know what a hemicorporectomy is?" Argent asked, "I have a feeling I don't want to." Scott said.

"A medical term for amputating someone at the waist. Cutting them in half. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to cut through tissue and bone like that." Argent said as he drew a line across Scott's stomach, "Let's hope a demonstration never becomes necessary." Argent says and then stands up and him and his men walk off.

Wren, Stiles and Allison wait until they're far enough away before coming out, "You okay?" Allison asked. "Just another life-threatening conversation with your dad." Scott shrugged making Wren chuckle. "Stiles, help me with this." Allison said and they moved to a tree to try to get Scott down while Wren just looked at him.

"You know you have claws right?" She asked making him look at her, "Oh yeah." He said then flicked out his claws and reached up to cut the cord. "Thanks. But I think I got it." He says and Stiles and Allison glance to each other, impressed while Wren shook her head slightly.

🦎

Distraught and exhausted, Wren, Scott and Stiles head to the school's main entrance, "She ate the liver?" Scott asked shocked. "I didn't say she ate it. I said it was missing. And if she did? So what? It's the most nutritious part of the body." Stiles said making Wren cringe, "Lydia would never eat a liver even if she was out of control."

"I've never eaten a liver." Scott said and Wren raised her eyebrows at him, "Right, because when it comes to werewolves you're the best model of self-control." Wren said making Scott mockingly stick his tongue out at her. Stiles suddenly stopped making Scott and Wren stop and look at him. "Hold on. You're the test case for this. We should be going over what happened to you." Stiles said and Scott looked at him confused, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, like, what was going through your mind when you were turning, you know? What were you drawn to?" Stiles asked. "Allison." Scott said making Wren groan, "Really? That's it?" She asked and he just shrugged. "Nothing else mattered. But that's good, right? The night Lydia was bit, the last thing she saw was you." Scott said and Wren sighed. "She was only on the field cause she was looking for Jackson."

🦎

"It causes me severe mental anguish
to say this, but he's right." Stiles said as they saw in chemistry during a quiz. Scott was next to him while Wren was in front of them. Wren glanced back at him with raised eyebrows, "I know." Scott said making Wren roll her eyes.

"What if the next body part she steals is from someone who's still alive?" Stiles asked and before Scott or Wren could say anything Harris spoke up. "This is a pop quiz, Mr. Stilinski. If I hear your voice again, I may be tempted to give you detention for the rest of your high school career." Harris said and Stiles's eyes widened.

"You can do that?"

"Well, there it is again. Your voice- triggering the only impulse I've ever had to strike a student repeatedly and violently. I'll see you at three o'clock for detention." Harris said making Wren and Scott look at Stiles, silently chuckling. "You too Mr. McCall, Miss. Martin?" Harris asked making Scott and Wren look at him with wide eyes, "No sir." They said at the same time.

🦎

"Is that a love note I see?" Wren teased as she walked up to Allison who blushed and put the note back into her locker. "That is so cheesy." Wren teased and Allison laughed and rolled her eyes but her laugh soon faded when they heard a couple girls talking across the hall.

"Not her sister, her aunt. The one who murdered all those people."

'You mean the crazy bitch who killed all those people?"

"Yeah, the fire, all those animal attacks... it was her aunt."

"Are you kidding? I sit next to her in English."

"Find a new seat."

Allison bit her lip for a moment before running off making Wren sighed before getting off the locker and walking over to the two girls. She cleared her throat making them look at her as she crossed her arms before smiling at them.

"Hello ladies, couldn't help but over hear you." She said making the girls' eyes widened.

🦎

"How did Wren Martin manage to get a week of detention?" Stiles whispered as he and Wren sat in detention, "A teacher might have overheard me talking to a couple girls who were talking bad about Allison." Wren said and Stiles nodded slightly.

"You used threats you read in books, didn't you?"

"Possibly "

About half an hour later Wren looked up from her journal to see that its 3:59. Below the clock, Mr. Harris grades papers while Stiles sits at a desk trying to will the clock hands to move faster. Finally, the hour hand hits four and Stiles jumps up. "Sit."

"But it's been an hour."

"My detention runs an hour and a half." Harris said making Stiles scoff, "You can't do that." Stiles said and Harris chuckled. "Oh, but I can. You see, Stiles, after your father was so judicious in his dealings with me, I've decided to make you my personal project for the rest of the semester. You are going to benefit from the best that strict discipline has to offer." Harris said and Wren raised her hand, "Can I go?" She asked and he just slightly glared at her.

"No, you can not. Think of it as punishment for all the times you've corrected me in class. Now sit down- before I decide to keep you here all night." He said and Stiles sat back down while Wren scoffed.

"Not my fault you're not good at your job."

🦎

Stiles and Wren crouched down next to Scott who was hiding behind a headstone. "Who the hell's that?" Stiles asked as they looked over at someone talking to Allison. Gerard turns his eyes to them sending the three dropping back behind the gravestone to hide.

"He's definitely an Argent." Scott said and they nodded before looking back up when he looked away and glanced at each other. "Hey, you know, maybe they're just here for the funeral? I mean, what if they're the non-hunting side of the family? There could be non-hunting Argents. It's possible, right?" Stiles suggested trying to be optimistic but Wren and Scott just shook their heads.

"I know what they are... They're reinforcements." Scott said and suddenly Stilinski came up behind them, grabbing Scott's and Stiles's shoulders making them all jump. "Ah. The two of you. And dragging Wren into your shenanigans Unbelievable." Stilinski said as he yanks Scott and Stiles up while Wren stood up. "Pick up my tie."

"Got it. Sorry. I know I'm supposed to ask-"

Stilinski drags the boys over to his patrol car while Wren followed behind them. The three teenagers sit in the back while Sheriff Stilinski talks with a panicked deputy over the radio.

"Four-one-five Adam."

"I didn't copy that- did you say four-one-five Adam?" Stilinski asked into the radio while Stiles whispered "Disturbance in a car." to Wren and Scott.

"They were taking a heart attack victim, DOA, but on the way to the hospital, something hit 'em."

"What- hit the ambulance?"

"Copy that. I'm standing in front of it now. Something got in the back. There's blood everywhere. And I mean everywhere."

"All right, Unit Four, what's your twenty?"

"Route 5 and Post. I swear, I've never seen anything like this."

"All right, take it easy. I'm on my way. Now, as for you three-" Stilinski said, while turning around only to see the back seat was empty making him sigh.

🦎

Shrouded by trees, Stiles's Jeep sits on a dirt path. A few yards ahead, Wren, Scott and Stiles keep low to the ground as they approach flashing red and blue lights. Peering out through the branches, they spot the ambulance on the opposite side of the road. Moving from tree to tree, the three slowly catch a view of the blood-spattered interior. A seriously freaked out ambulance driver appears to be trying to explain what happened to an equally freaked out deputy.

"What the hell is Lydia doing?" Stiles asked and Wren shook her head, "I'm not sure if it is Lydia doing this." She said while Scott just shrugged. "What kept you from doing that? Was it Allison?" Stiles asked looking over at Scott.

"I hope so."

"Do you need to get closer?" Stiles asked and Scott closes his eyes for a brief second. He pulls in a deep breath and then shakes his head, "No. I got it." He said and went to run off but Wren grabbed his hand.

"Scott, I need you to find her. All right? Please, just-just find her." She said and he nodded and comfortingly squeezed her hand. "I will." He said then took off into the woods. Wren sighed while Stiles
