The Impossibility Of Them

Leo, the newest addition in your class and Mrs. Nam said he'd transferred from Australia, had popped into the faculty's office in front of your desk to inquire about what to expect from his classmates.

It takes everything in you not to tell him how much they are of a headache.

Who can say he would not be one of them as well?

The inquiry had gone off without a hitch, he'd even joked about his past experiences from his previous school and just as he had gone to his feet to leave, the door to the faculty office.

"Once you meet them today", you said contemplatively, "I'm sure you'll get along with them just fine. All of them were friendly especially the one named Jake"

Not only were they friendly, but all's a flirt except for Kai, you think to yourself.

"I'll take note of that", Leo assured you as you looked to the doorway and wanted to sigh at the sight of the one affecting you this much as he stood there.

Leo followed your gaze, eyes settling onto one of his new classmates and you wanted to sigh when Jake narrowed his eyes at him. Really, he wasn't a kid anymore to be jealous this fast over the new student.

Clearing your throat pointedly, you meaningfully widened your eyes at Jake. Why couldn't he just relax?

"You can come find me if you have any other inquiries", you said to Leo and silently urged him up to leave the room.

He didn't need any further prodding as Jake's gaze bothers him before he was walking out, but Jake didn't make it any easier for him. He refused to budge in the doorway, not until he caught your condescending gaze, only then did he allowed Leo to pass.

"You're so childish", you chided, rolling your eyes when Jake shut the door behind him and headed straight towards you.

"Who is that?", he asked straight away as he settled into the chair opposite your desk and crossed his arms.

"You sure can be childish sometimes", you muttered, shaking your head and tidying up your desk, "He's a transferee from Australia and you'd do best to be friendly since he will be in our class from now on"

"As long as he will not be after you as well, all will be in peace", he muttered through what could only be Jake-pout.

So is this really the boy you have an undeniable crush with?

Although the two of you were already in talking terms again, you were still reluctant with him but you don't want to miss the opportunity to tease him, so there was no way you were passing this up.

Leaning across the desk towards him, you remarked suggestively, "If only I'd known him sooner, maybe he's the one I'm crushing on right now"

Jake's only reaction towards the words was to rise in his feet and walk around your desk. Your eyebrows rise in surprise, he'd gotten better at hiding his annoyance at your retorts, but hadn't he learned by now that he's the only one you were teasing this way?

You watched as he stops to check the things in your desk until he came to a stop beside your chair.

Even if you knew you shouldn't have, you added, "He came from Australia as well and now I could tell, every guys from there is my ideal type"

Again, there's no reaction other than him lowering his head down to look at the small picture frame you placed there and it is with your mom, the two of you smiling in her birthday. It was certainly no fun if Jake didn't react.

"Maybe I should give it a go and see. You know, just for comparison's sake", you don't even know what's going out of your mouth.

Jake's head snapped at that and the look in his eyes had fallen you silent. Your teeth clamped down on your bottom lip and you wanted to take your last few words back.

You'd pushed him too far from what it looks like.

"You know, I was only kidding -"

And then he was storming over to kiss you senseless enough for you to forget just what the two of you had been talking about in the first place.

Whilst it happens, with you responsing to the kiss and realizing that you miss it, you miss him, the two of you have no idea of how the door slightly open with someone peeking inside.

The door closes against after a few seconds and there was a bouquet of flowers being thrown in the trash can as the person walked away.

Sunghoon lied on his bed, his thoughts flooding in his head like a vicious waves.

He wish he could make it stop, to clear the image of his bestfriend and the girl he liked kissing inside the faculty room. He couldn't stop wishing he could make the dull empty pain from his heart would go away, but it didn't.

He should be strong like Jay who can feel who Y/N liked all along among the three of them.

Maybe then she would go for him and get his attention. If only he was that lucky.

"Hoon, do you want to get lunch with me and Soobin? We'll go to buy this newest bread he'd been eyeing in the Cafeteria", Huening Kai offers as he enters the room.

As much as he wants to join them, Sunghoon fears he would see the two there, maybe already back together. He felt being a dumbass, thinking she would like him back when her eyes were already set onto Jake.

He looked up at the ceiling, "Just bring me a take out"

Huening Kai sighs, "Come on, Hoon, you have to move on from that girl. She can't possibly changed her mind about Jake"

"Yeah, you're really helping", he whispers, blinking a bit, "You should go before Soobin hyung gets tired of waiting outside"

"I'm just stating facts and please, don't kiss her again or else, I have to get in between you again", Kai scolds, referring to the time he was accidentally hit in the cheek by one of them.

All just because he wanted to put a stop in the fist fight between Jake and Sunghoon.

"Just go, Kai", Sunghoon said, wishing his roommate would just listen.

After a moment, Kai hesitantly leaves, letting him be alone as he asked.

Sunghoon felt so pathetic for himself. It is actually sad to think that he could be really inlove with her, but she couldn't give two shits about it. That's what hurt the most; he cared too much and she's doing the same for another.

What worse is, it's none other than his bestfriend.

He picks up his phone and called her. It didn't take long for her to answer.

"Hello?", she answers and his heart throb in pain to hear Jake in the background.

His heartbeat faster to hear her shushing the other boy and he paused for a moment before answering, "Y/N", Sunghoon whisper, "Why couldn't it just be me?"

So many people would be so disappointed of him. They would think he was an idiot for still wanting her, and maybe he is. He wish he didn't.

He would do anything to forget the way her lips felt on his, or the way she retorted back in all those times he was annoying him especially at the camp and the way she smiled at him in the middle of the night when she slept in his bed.

"Sunghoon, please, I don't want to talk about this now", she says in her normal serious tone.

Sunghoon closes his eyes, and a lone tear slips down from his eyes, trailing until it reach his chin. He really wanted to say how much they were hurting him.

"Sunghoon?", Y/N calls, trying to figure out if he was still in the line and he miss that, her voice in the way it was calm.

"I hate this, liking you so much it hurts. It hurts to watch you loving my bestfriend instead of me", he ended the call, immediately regretting what he said.

And what he hated the most, he was inlove with the impossibility of them.

The impossibility of him and Y/N to happen.

I think that thing really hurts, to realized your bestfriend liked the same girl.

I watched too much of Kdrama to love this scenarios.

But why do it feels like Jake is the main guy here?
