Jake, when it came down to it, was a rather jealous boyfriend. Which when you thought about it, was absolutely ridiculous.
Out of the pair of you, it made only sense for you to be the one with the tendency of being jealous but that wasn't the case. It wasn't as if you didn't feel it occasionally as he toured you around Brisbane whereas some of the foreigner girls your age tried to attract his attention.
It just made no sense for Jake to be jealous. He was the one out of your league and that was the truth.
No matter how often he tried to protest otherwise and now as you sat in a restaurant, you have to feel the eyes of every girls on him.
"More", you muttered under your breath, eyes not leaving the preying monkeys around.
"More?", Jake looks at you incredelously in regards to the third order of this particular dish in your table.
You grin and nod, turning back to your plate of Chicken Parmigiana that were still steaming, the smell managing to erase your stress. Jake promised to take you in the other food places, and you just let him spoil you if that means more foreign food to taste.
Now you can't wait to tell it to your mom and you think this is already the best day ever.
"Thanks, Jake, for bringing me here", you say and stab your fork into the chicken, smiling at the gravy trailing down from inside.
"No problem, my baby", Jake winks at you and then wraps his arms around you shoulder, pulling you closer into him.
He pouted as soon as he noticed all your eyes were on the chicken, but he can't blame you, not when it's your favorite in the world. Any kind of dishes with chicken.
"Look at me please", he tells you, sounding angry. More of a demanding child in your ears.
You look up with a frown, hating to be disturbed from your beloved chicken dish. His face pulls up into a grin and he takes your face in his hands, pressing his lips against yours despite of being in the public.
"It feels so good being able to kiss you whenever I want", he stated, happily kissing you again in the lips, "Especially when I've spent at least one month being jealous of Jay"
His statement made you smile against the kiss and turn slightly to face him, letting him pull you closer. You're not going to lie when you admitted that his lips do feel good compared to the ones you had with Sunghoon and Jay.
All of it was either too sudden or too fake in the case of the fake relationship. This one is real.
You may think this is all bad regarding your opinion about love, but it can't hurt to try, even if just for a while.
"I'll be right back. The throne in the bathroom is calling for me", you say and sliding out of the booth, walking to where the sign of the restroom hangs.
It took a rather unnecessary amount of time to pass through the line in the female's restroom before you get inside. But you stayed a moment longer, making sure that you still look decent in the eyes of Jake, so you didn't wind up around with a grave sauce near your mouth.
Once you were done fixing your face, you walk out of the restroom to return at your table. You couldn't resist frowning as you noticed a pretty girl with long red hair and a really short skirt and she is hugging Jake.
This is no time for you to be jumping in conclusions, so you walk up to them and Jake pulls out of the hug, smiling in unsureness at the way your eyes demanded an explanation.
"Abby, this is my girlfriend, Y/N", he takes your hand and gently pulls you closer to him, "Y/N, this is Abbigail, my childhood friend"
Abbigail didn't appear much older than you, but she carried herself with a sort of confidence that very few people possed, and it did not intimidate you. Giving her that satisfaction is not in your vocabulary.
She crossed the space between the two of you, coming to a stop and raking her eyes over your body.
"You're his girlfriend?", Abby greets, sneering down at your much smaller height.
You nodded slowly, trying not to feed the sarcastic monster that was growing in your stomach, "You are just his childhood friend, I see"
"We've not seen each other since my family migrated back to SoKor", Jake explained, drawing your eyes away from the Australian girl.
"I see, she's not someone to worry about", you murmured, glancing sharply to the left when you heard the offended cough from this Abby.
It doesn't matter whether she is more beautiful or not. Her appearance is actually a blessing in disguise because it would be a way to test the loyalty of Jake to you.
She can even flaunt her ass around for all you care.
Abby looks so happy to join the two of you in the table, almost taking all the attention of Jake away from you. There is a smile plastered on her face and all you can wonder if it's fake or not.
All the snakes wore the same glossy smile after all.
"So how have you been, Jakey? I haven't see you in forever. I couldn't even believe you have a girlfriend", she starts talking, giving you a headache.
She sounded like your normal preppy girl in those coming of age movies. You were sure that's not even her real voice.
"Oh, I've been good. Exams are draining", Jake says and laughs slightly, "But it's not too hard when my girlfriend is the one tutoring my whole section", he smiles and winks at you, taking your hand and intertwining it with his.
Abby's expression can't be described when you set your joined hands in the table.
"What about you, Abby? How's Australia while I'm gone?", Jake adds, chuckling at the evident of jealousy in your face.
"It's so boring without you here. The guys here were all so dumb, but I'm not with anyone right now and yet I was ready for that someone", she says, fluttering her lashes at Jake.
You just want to punch her perfect white straight teeth out of her mouth. But what if it was all just veneers? You don't want to pay for someone's fake teeth, it's not worth it.
As you finish your chicken, deciding to watch Abby intentionally next since all she had is a water with a slice of lemon during the whole meal. She must be one of those high maintenance girl worrying over their figure than their overall health.
"Ready to go? I still have ton of places to show you around here", Jake says after paying the bill at the waitress.
You smile and nod, hoping to getaway from Abby who's failing so far at making you feel small about her. Why would you be intimidated over a girl you can win over in a fist fight?
When the three of you made it out on the busy streets, with Abby still tailing after Jake, you stopped and knowing there's something missing.
"Oh shit, my jacket is still on my seat!", you say, spinning on your heels and running back inside the restaurant.
Well, Abby is really getting in your head at this point, you thought in annoyance.
Once the jacket is in your hand and you thanked the waitress who hands it to you, you walk back out but you suddenly stop by the door, hearing Abby's whispers. She was pressed up against Jake's body as she runs her hand over his chest.
Devil may care, but now you realized the snakes works harder.
"I really missed you, Jake. Why don't you ditch that girl for me and let's get onto a hotel?", she says, and it makes you wonder if that's how she flirt to everyone.
Jake moves away from her and suddenly everything is interesting at your watch, "No, I won't do that to her. Abby, stop right now or else"
"Wow. You'll surely be wasting a girl like me over a nerd", Abby frowns, going completely silent for a moment.
You think this is your time to let them know that you're still there, so you walked into the chilly air of Brisbane and approaches them with a smile, a face void of any recognition to their conversation.
Devil may care, but you were more good in being pretentious than her.
"Bye, Abby. We need to go now somewhere", Jake says and she just smiles before walking off.
You watched as Jake scanned the street with hurried eyes which only rested when they landed on you and then, just like that, you were smiling. He continued to watch you for a few moments before he was returning the smile with a blinding one of his own as he rushed towards you again.
He drew you into his arms and lifted you off the ground. And may god help you, you giggled like a little girl as you wrapped your arms around his neck and held on tight to him.
"Did you know that you were a keeper?", you asked, burrowing your face into the crook of his neck.
"Of course I would be that for you and only you", Jake explained with a chuckle, lowering you until your feet were once on the ground again.
"You're really adorable", you stated with fondness and he smiled even further, eyes softening as you brought a hand to brush some of his hair.
"That's enough time. We should go", he said before releasing you fully.
He took your hand in his, bringing it to rest at the crook of his elbow and preparing to escort you on the way. But he paused mid-step, leaning down to press a kiss at the tip of your nose.
Only this time you were the one to noticed Abby still standing behind and you send a final assessing glance at her way before smirking, letting her know that she didn't win in the end.
It was very rare that you felt jealous and you would sooner leave Australia than tell Jake you didn't like his childhood friend.
You will never stoop down to her level, that's what you promised to yourself.
