"DEB, HUSH!" Elli hissed as they quietly crept down the stairs. "We don't wanna get caught."
The girls were sneaking out to meet up with Shirley, Gilbert, and Kenny at the park at one-fifteen in the morning. Nothing really special, they just wanted to have fun with one another again.
It was March twenty-ninth and the two girls had been dating for three months now. They told Mary, Bonnie, and Lizzie who were happy for them. But, the one person they didn't tell was Nick.
He didn't want Elli in a ten-foot radius of where his daughter was. But, they made it work. They would talk during nighttime with their windows open, sneak over to each others houses and cuddle with one another. And if Nick was gone for a business trip, like he did one time to New York, they would have sleepovers and dance around to music in Debbie's room.
The girls finally made it outside the house and closed the sliding door slowly for it to not make a sound. Once it was closed, they headed towards the gate and unlocked it. They flipped the lock up then opened the gate, allowing the two to get by before Elli closed it again.
They ran towards the sidewalk then ran across the street into the woods that lead to the park. "Come on, Elli, we're already late," Debbie called as she went back for Elli who was slacking behind.
Deb grabbed her hand and began to drag her through the woods. Once they were both out, it was about a two minute walk to the park.
"Wanna race?" asked Elli.
Debbie gave a nod. "Sure. If I win, I get a kiss."
"Okay. And if I win, I get a kiss." Debbie nodded to those terms and got into a starting position. "Three, two, one. Go!"
The two started to run down the side walk. They were neck and neck till Elli caught up and got to the park first. "Yes! Now, I shall get the magnificent prize from the princess."
Debbie bowed down. "Yes, you shall, your majesty. Now, to seal it with a kiss," she leaned forward and pecked Elli on the lips causing her giggle a bit. Like a little child receiving a chocolate candy bar.
"You're a cutie, you know that?" Debbie booped her nose.
"Oh, really? Didn't know since you tell me that, like, a lot."
"Oh, stop being sarcastic. You love me," Debbie sent a kissy face.
"Sadly," Elli said to herself.
Debbie turned around with a confused look as she didn't hear her clearly. "What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Oh. Okay," shrugging, Debbie walked up to the park.
"Finally, you guys arrived. You guys take forever," Shirley walked up to the two girls and gave them a hug. "Getting bored of Mr. Gil here," she pointed a finger back to Gilbert who was swinging on a swing set.
"Hey!"
"I'm here too, you know," Kenny said as he jumped off a play set and walked over to the three.
"Hush child. Now, let's go find things then we'll play a round of hide and seek," she smiled then skipped off to Gilbert.
Elli headed towards a few trees to look for bugs. What she didn't expect to find was a caterpillar. It was a bit large and had a cool pattern. She plucked the insect off the tree and held it in her hands and watched as it quite liked her.
"Guys! Look what I found!" Elli headed over to the rest of them who were near the same area as each other. "I found a caterpillar. I'm gonna name it Pilly."
Kenny walked up to her and saw the caterpillar start to move and screamed. "Put that back where you found it!" he got scared. Elli gave the others a look before moving closer to him.
"The caterpillar? This isn't what you're afraid of, is it?" she gave a mocking smile.
"Get that thing away from me right now, Elliana! I swear, I will smack it out of your hand if you bring it towards me!" Kenny started to run as Elli ran after him.
"Caterpillars are our friends! You don't have to be scared!" Elli shouted as she still ran after him and the others laughed until their knees gave out.
•••••
The next few months were great for the group of friends. They had snuck our countless times, gone to the movies, had sleepovers surprisingly, even egged someone's house because they were picking on one of the members.
It was a friend group anyone could imagine to have.
The date was September fourteenth and Debbie, Elli, and Kenny were getting tired of something.
They were getting tired of Shirley and Gilbert always flirting with each other. The three wanted them to get together. And they wanted them to get together fast.
So, they had a plan. They were going to play truth or dare at Kenny's house. They were going to play a few round before asking Gilbert if he liked anyone in the group. Gilbert would obviously say yes, then Kenny would tell him to make a move.
He would ask out Shirley and they would finally live happily ever after.
It was now later that night and they were all in Kenny's room starting the truth or dare match. They started to know more about each other and get horrible dares which of when Elli dared Kenny to go next door and see if his neighbor had any chocolate for him to eat. Corny, but she couldn't think of anything else.
As they moved closer to Gilbert, Kenny gave one to Debbie. "Truth or Dare, Deb?"
"Uh, truth," answered Deb.
"Do you like anyone?"
Deb pressed her lips together before looking down and nodding. "Yep."
Kenny gave a smirk before asking, "Well, is it someone in the group?"
"No more questions. You only get one truth remember," she chuckled.
Kenny kept that in mind as continued on with the game. By the end of it, the three finally got Shirley and Gilbert together.
It was a mission accomplished.
