ELLI ARRIVED AT SUPER STAR BOWLING AT SEVEN FORTY-FIVE ON THE DOT. She knew she was fifteen minutes late, yes, but she did get lost. Three time to be exact. She even had to ask this girl with cool red shoes and a big briefcase for directions.
Anyways, Elli looked at herself in the glass door to make sure she was looking okay before making her way into the bowling alley. She had no idea that a bowling alley would look this cool. It had a huge arcade, the smell of pizza, even a laser tag place.
"Hello, there," a lady with the name tag of Midge came up to her. "You looking for someone?"
"Yes. I'm looking for a boy named Kenny. He said he was having a birthday party today," she then pointed to her gift. "I brought him a gift and I was supposed to be here for his party."
Midge nodded. "Lane seven, miss. Would you like me to lead the way?" Elli nodded and the lady led the way. Once they arrived at the lane, the lady turned around back to Elli. "Here we are. Tell me if you need anything. And, what shoes size are you?"
"Size eight, please," Elli smiled and the girl nodded now leaving.
"Elli!" Someone called and she turned her head to see Kenny with a smile on his face. "Can't believe you actually came."
Elli sighed. "Sorry for being late. Got lost a lot," she chuckled. She handed Kenny his gift and he started to unwrap it.
"No way!" Kenny looked at the action figures with glee. "I've been looking for these everywhere. How'd you find it?"
Elli huffed. "Right places I guess." Kenny gave her a hug then lead her over to the other people that were there. It consisted of two more boys and a one girl.
"These are my friends. Malachi," he pointed to a boy with floppy dark brown hair and tan skin. He had brown eyes and looked about thirteen. "Louis," they had brown hair that covered their eyes and had white skin. "And Kyla," she had white skin, freckles covering her face and body with light brownish kinda curly hair.
She was beautiful as Elli thought. She gave Elli a smile and Elli gave one back. "I'm Elli," she held her hand out to Kyla who shook it then she moved to Louis and Malachi.
"It's good to have another girl here. I was getting bored of them," Kyla said aloud as Elli chuckled and the three boys rolled their eyes simultaneously.
"Oh, sure. Love your hair, Elli. It's pretty," Malachi said as the two others nodded. Elli received her bowling shoes by now and started to put the on.
"Enough chit-chat, ladies, gents, and Louis. Let's start bowling," Kenny grinned as his friends started laughing. "As the birthday boy, I shall go first," he went over to pick up a ball as the rest of the kids sat down.
The order of bowling was put in as Kenny, Malachi, Kyla, Louis then Elli. As Kenny started to bowl, Kyla and Elli sat together as Malachi and Louis did vice versa.
As Malachi and Louis watched Kenny play, Elli and Kyla sat talking to each other. "So, you've neverโin your lifeโhave gone bowling before?" Kyla asked with a shocked face causing Elli to chuckle.
"Nope. Never before," she shook her head.
"Maybe I can teach it to you," Kyla smiled and scooted closer to her as Elli smiled back.
"Maybe," she began to nod. "you can."
They both began to laugh together as Kyla then explained how to play and the basics of the game. She even picked out a ball for her to use. One that wasn't too heavy or to light. One that was the perfect size.
Kenny took five pins out his first time and the group cheered him on for taking half. "Not bad, huh?" he asked Elli who gave a shrug as she then turned back to Kyla to continue her conversation. "I'm pretty good right?" he asked her but then saw she was talking to Kyla.
"She's not listening to you Kenny," Malachi sighed as Elli and Kyla began giggling together and Kyla placed a hand on Elli's arm. "Just continue playing. I want it to be my turn already," he shoved a slice of pizza in his mouth.
Kenny sighed and began to bowl again, landing a spare. "Yes!" Kenny turned around to see the rest of the group cheering for him.
"Okay, big boy. Step aside. I've got this," Malachi popped his jacket up a bit and grabbed a bowling ball but it was too heavy, and he shrieked in a high pitch voice as he began to fall with it.
Elli and Kyla chuckled to one another as Kyla said, "You sure you got this big boy?"
Malachi looked over at her and glared. "Shush, Ky. I've still got this," he took a quick step and bowled an amazing strike. He heard the cheering of the group as he turned out to Kyla. "You were saying?"
Kyla stuck out her tongue as she stood up. "I've got this," she picked up a pink, medium sized ball and began to make her way forward. She threw the ball and landed a strike too. "Told you," she smirked and sat down next to Elli who gave her a high five.
Louis then took their turn and hit no pins. They turned around to see the group not making eye contact with each other. Kenny sputtered out a laugh a which caused the whole group to break, including Louis. Everyone was doubled over with laughing as Louis began to pick up the ball from the return machine and go again. This time they got five pins.
It was now Elli's turn.
"You can do this Elli, don't worry. Just don't think about it much," Kyla instructed as she went up and took a yellow, medium sized ball and stepped up to bowl. She stepped forward the same movement she saw Kyla do and threw the ball down the lane. The ball went fast and hit eight of the pins.
Elli gave a shocked face as she turned back towards the group. "That was so good!" Kyla came up to give her a hug, lifting her off the ground a bit. "Are you sure this is the first time you've ever been bowling?"
Elli nodded. "Yep. Not lying at all," she squeezed back Kyla as they both let go and Elli went to retrieve her ball for the second try. She did the same motion as the last try and took out the last two pins making it a spare.
Before she sat down, Kyla gave her a high five then locked hands with her as she sat down. The score board went Malachi, Kyla, Elli, Kenny then Louis. They all decided whoever won would get the gummy worms that sat on the table near the cake.
After two more rounds, they all had cake which ended in Kyla and Elli sharing a piece and the boys, also Louis, looking over with jealous faces. Elli and Kyla couldn't quite figure out why but they shrugged it offโcontinuing to do what they were doing.
As it was Kyla and Malachi tied together getting strike after strike. The game ended with Kyla taking the lead, Malachi getting second, Elli placing third, Kenny with fourth, and Louis losing with fifth.
Kyla was a good sport as Malachi acting as if he was a child, drawing everyones attention as he whined on the floor. He demanded a rematch and Kyla, being a good sport, let him have one.
There were only thirty minutes left of the party, but Kenny's mom stretched it to nine thirty so they could have their rematch and go to the photo booth so it was now an hour left. The others also played as well but weren't in the challenge.
As Kyla waited for her turn, Elli laid her head on her lap, snacking on the gummy worms the two were now sharing as Kyla ran her fingers through Elli's hair. As Malachi was about to start bowling, he spotted someoneโor some peopleโto the lane next to them on the right.
"Uh. Guys," he called to the group.
"Yeah," They all answers as Kyla ate another gummy worm that Elli handed her.
"There are five adults and one child looking at me with an intense glare right now," he spoke as they all moved their heads towards that direction. Elli squealed as she ducked her head back down and they all gave her a weird look.
"Don't look! Just. . . Act natural and act as if I'm not here," she told them as Kyla shrugged.
"Copy that, honey bun," she smiled down at the girl who returned to her lap.
"One's coming over here," Malachi whispered harshly as Elli's eyes widened.
She watched as Five walked over with a pep in his step and leaned down in front of the girl. "We need you. Now," he spoke as Kyla gave him a weird look, placing another gummy worm in her mouth.
"Now? I'm having so much fun," Elli whined as she sat up and placed her head on Kylas shoulder. Kyla then moved her hand and placed it on her head, slightly patting her softly.
"Too bad," Five grabbed her arm and dragged her away from Kyla, ignoring her and her new friends protests.
"What are you guys even doing here? Having a fun bowling night or something?" Elli asked as she now sat beside Five.
"The apocalypse is back on," Luther announced as Elli gave wide eyes. "We know who causes it too."
"Well, who is it?" Elli asked.
"Vanya. Turns out she has powers and destroyed the house," Diego announced.
"Destroyed the house? So where's Pogo and Grace?"
"She killed them." Elli looked down before sighing.
"Well, what are you guys gonna do?" The six gave her confused looks.
"Us? You're in this too, you know?" Luther said.
Elli huffed. "Nope. You guys don't treat me like family, so. . . Not my problem," she began to get up, but Allison stopped her. "Allison. You're okay." Allison nodded and showed her the not pad she was writing in.
We still consider you family, no matter what. Please help. We need you just as much as you need us.
Elli sighed as she read over her message and groaned before she looked over to them again. "Fine." They all sighed before starting to talk again. "I'll be right back," Elli said and made her way over to the group.
"What'd they say?"
"Are they you're siblings?"
"Why is one built like that?"
"Hey, that's rude! But why is he built like that?"
"Is the one that came over here single?"
"Louis, hush. You saw him once."
"Why does one have a bandage on her neck?"
"Okay!" Elli stopped the four from asking questions. "I know you've got a lot of questions, but I've got to go. They need my help for something and I can't play anymore." The four awed in sadness as Kyla brought her in for a hug. "Hopefully, I can hang with you guys again. You're all really fun to play with."
"That sounded wrong, but we got the idea," Kenny laughed. "Thanks for actually coming. We had fun."
"We'll miss you," Louis and Malachi spoke together and gave her a pat on the head before sitting down with Kenny.
Kyla stepped forward and handed her the gummy worms. "You can take them. I'm sure my mom can get me more," she smiled. "Maybe I'll see you again this week or so?"
Elli smiled back and took the gummy worms from her hand, making sure to make contact with Kylas hand. "Maybe you will," she made her way back to her spot beside Five as the grown ups began to talk.
"He saved my life today," she heard Diego say as she looked at Five for a follow up.
"Don't know. We're both clueless for once," he said and Elli smacked his arm.
"Really?" Ben spoke as only Klaus heard.
"Is that true?" Luther asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I did. . . take credit for it. In fact, the real hero. . . was Ben," he reached out to the empty space behind Five and the four gave looks of annoyance. Klaus sighs. "Today. . . Listen. Today, he punched me in the face. And earlier at the house, he was the one who saved Diego's life, not me."
"You are unbelievable, Klaus," Luther disbelieved.
"I'm not lying. Even when Elli and I were kidnapped, her dead friend saw Ben and I saw her dead friend," Klaus pointed to Elli and everyone's eyes turned to her.
"I was passed out most of the time. I wouldn't know," she sighed.
"Well, ask your dead friend to make himself visible again and he can vouch for me," Klaus offered.
Elli sucked in air from her teeth. "We're kinda. . . fightings at this moment. We're not really talking."
Klaus threw his hands in the air then turned back towards Luther. "You want proof, is that it? All right. I. . . I'll give you proof," he grabbed a bowling ball. "All right, it's showtime, baby. Catch!" he threw the bowling ball right towards Five who scooted to Elli's seat, pushing her straight off. The ball went straight through Ben and bounced in the floor.
"Really, Five?!" Elli gestured to her being on the ground and he moved back to his spot as Allison helped her off the floor, receiving a 'thanks' from Elli.
"Is there any way to silence that voice in your head that screams out to be the center of attention?" Luther points to his own head.
"You know, I liked you a lot better before you got laid," Klaus blurred out and Elli's eyes went wide eyes as she now knew what it meant.
As she met eyes with Diego they both tried not to laugh. Elli failed and let out a snort which caused Five to snort too but under his breath.
"Which was a complete. . ." Klaus tried to save himself. He failed. Miserably. "It. . . It wasn't his fault, 'cause he was ridiculously high, right?" he looked towards Luther for help. "And. . . And the girl, she thought he was a furryโ" Five and Elli both traded glanced to Klaus and Luther then to each other and gave terrified looks.
"Stop!" Luther cut him off.
"Okay," he sat back down.
Allison have a betrayed look at Luther then grabbed her note pad and made her way out of the bowling alley. "Allison, wait," Luther followed like a list puppy.
"Excuse me! Excuse me," Kenny's mom came over with Kenny who looked very embarrassed. "it's my son Kenny's birthday today, and. . . Uh. . . wouldn't your son be happier playing with kids their own age?" she bumped Kenny's shoulder. "Assuming it's okay with your two dads." Elli gave a jaw drop as Kenny snorted but kept it cool.
"I would rather chew off my own foot," Five hissed and Elli quickly covered his mouth.
"Sorry for his attitude. He didn't take his. . . meds today. If you know what I mean," she winked at Kenny's mom. "Thanks for the offer but we might leave in a little bit. Have a great birthday Kenny and tell Kyla I miss her and I send her a kiss," Elli suddenly got bold and his eyes widened, moving back to the lane as his mother followed.
"Really? Meds? You must be joking," Five rolled his eyes as Elli sighed.
"What else was I supposed to say? Your back pain medication? You're gonna need some with that horrible posture you have there," she gestured to the improper way he was sitting and he quickly changed his posture. Something then alerted Five and he took off into another lane.
"If I was going to date a man, you'd be the last man I would date," Diego made certain as Klaus went to grab a ball to bowl.
"You'd be lucky to get me," Klaus sighed as he bowled and hit four pins.
Someone tapped Elli's shoulder from behind her and she turned around to see Kyla. "Hey, Kyโ" she suddenly stopped when Kyla placed her lips on Elli's cheek.
"See you around," she smiled and made her way down the small set of stairs and to the arcade.
Ellie was still shocked at the moment that when she turned around, she didn't see Diego and Klaus giving her wide eyes.
"Yay! She's gay!" Klaus cheered as he started doing a dance.
"I'm so confused," Diego spoke as Elli chuckled.
"So am I," she was about to say something else when she felt something on her lap. It was the photo she and the group of four took together in the photo booth while they waited for more pizza. One silly face, serious face, crazy face, one with them all glaring at Kenny, then one with a smile.
As she was about to put it in her dress pocket, she felt something under. It was the set of photos she took with Kyla. One silly, one serious, one crazy, one smiling, and one where they made kissy faces towards each other.
She placed them both in her pocket with a smile and made sure they would fall out.
