The next day, Juniper was more silent than she normally was. Katniss had suggested going to District 12 and getting a few propo videos there. Juniper was dragged along, though she really didn't feel like joining this time around.

"I saw the song you performed in District Five." Katniss whispered to Juniper, who sat next to her. Juniper nodded her head.

"My grandmother taught it to me." Juniper said.

"My dad sung it to me." Katniss said, Juniper turned and furrowed her eyebrows. She didn't think anyone else had known the song. "It's been a while since I've heard it, it was banned so many years ago."

Juniper nodded, it was banned. It was considered a rebellious tune. In a way, the song spoke to rebels and encouraged people to fight for freedom no matter the cost. That's why she performed it.

Katniss held her bow in hand while Juniper, who had a guitar strapped on her back walked beside her. They made their way off the ship and onto the rubble where District 12 used to sit upon. Cressida, the director of Katniss' propo films, started talking to Katniss about the shots she wanted to get. Juniper just took a few steps forward, looking at where the district used to be.

This is where Katniss and Peeta used to live. This is where Sierra and Colby used to live. Her mind flashed back to the families she saw standing at their podiums during her victory tour. Colby's mother. Sierra's parents and her younger sibling. Juniper knew Gale, Katniss's friend, had saved some people from twelve who were now living in District 13. However, she had no idea if their families had survived.

Juniper watched as the film crew followed Katniss to the ruins of a building. Juniper was glad she was out of the spotlight for at least a day, since they were in Katniss's territory now. She was just there for some extra shots.

Cashmere took the day off, staying in District 13 to help introduce Abraham and Nila to the area. Finnick went instead of her.

Juniper looked down at the rubble, and around at the destroyed parts of the districts. Everything was wrecked.

"We were all standing right here watching the games when you fired the arrow." Juniper turned and looked to Gale. "The screens went dark. Peacekeepers forced us back into our houses, it was dead quiet for about an hour. I heard their trucks pulling out a little past 9."

Gale looked directly at Katniss, breaking eye contact every few words. "Every single peacekeeper was gone, and I knew what that meant. Me and some guys from the mines started pulling people from their houses, we tried getting them to the fence line but a lot of them were scared of the forest."

Gale turned and pointed into a direction, Juniper followed his hand, but she didn't see much.

"We made a break for it that way." Gale walked towards that direction and everyone followed behind, letting the film crew get what they needed to. Juniper stayed ahead, but away from the spotlight as Gale made his way forward.

"915 of us made it to the fence. The bombers circled back to the road, all we could do is watch. They firebombed 'em as they ran."

Juniper was the first one besides Gale who made it up a small hill, overlooking what seemed to be the road he had mentioned. All that remained was skulls, thousands of them.

"915 out of 10,000. I should've dragged people and took them with me, I could've carried some of the kids." A tear made its way down Juniper's cheek, she made her way down the hill slightly, but stopped herself before trying to go any further.

Almost all of District 12 was completely wiped out by the Capitol. All the bodies on the ground of people who didn't know what was coming before it hit them. All of the buildings, all of the memories of it seemed to be completely erased. The only thing left were the people Gale had saved and their experiences.

Victors Village seemed to be the only thing left standing out of everything. It seemed untouched.

Katniss and the film crew went inside, but Juniper stayed out by herself. She just stared at the remains of the district, her guitar in hand. She wanted to play something to help ease her mind, but nothing came up. It was blank.

"Do you want to try?"

"I don't know any notes."

It was her conversation with Sierra during her coma. At least, a fake Sierra. It wasn't real.

Familiar notes played into her head, and as she remembered the chords to a song, she played the notes aloud. D minor, A minor, F, C.

"What song is it?"

Juniper continued to remember the song she had written.

"I'm not sure. I must've wrote it a long time ago, I probably didn't finish it."

She remembered the song. It was a song she had written with her friends from her games in her mind. She hummed the melody, lyrics popped into her head but she didn't sing them aloud. She smiled, Juniper had remembered it.

Juniper strapped her guitar back behind her when she saw everyone making their way out of the house. Katniss waited for Juniper and the two girls walked beside one another. Juniper questioned where they were headed, but her questions were answered when they saw the woods up ahead.

"You know, during your tour. I remember you giving me flowers." Katniss whispered, smiling to herself. Juniper had sudden flashbacks to her victory tour, she did hand it to a young girl with a braid. "I've looked up to you in some ways ever since then."

"Is that why you were so willing to form an alliance with me? Haymitch told me he couldn't force you to ally with anyone for the life of him." Juniper laughed. Katniss smiled and nodded.

"I felt like I could only trust you, I was right."

Through the woods, there was a large lake. It was beautiful, Juniper hadn't seen anything like it before. The water was so blue, and the other side was a steep mountain. Cressida let everyone know they were taking a break. Katniss and Juniper sat beside each other.

While Katniss took a few handfuls of water to her face, Juniper looked over to see Finnick doing the same thing a few feet over. He wiped the water off of his face and fixed his hair slightly. Juniper laughed to herself internally, removing her eyes from Finnick before he could notice.

Pollux, one of the cameramen, sat himself next to Katniss. He introduced himself to Juniper. The two had seen one another before, but never engaged in an active conversation. Juniper swore she never heard anything come from him, but she noticed pretty quickly he was an Avox.

A bird swooped in the middle of the three, a Mockingjay. Pollux pointing to a pin on his shirt and Katniss smiled and nodded, assuring him that it was indeed a Mockingjay.

Pollux whistled the four notes that were all too familiar to everybody sitting around the lake. The birds all copied the notes. Gale made a comment, which made Juniper send a cold stare at him, but she left him alone due to how deep their conversations had gotten earlier. She didn't want to give him trouble right now.

Juniper noticed how Finnick looked up and around at the sky, smiling to hear the birds singing. Something seemed to remind him in his head and he looked at Juniper. Juniper immediately turned away and back to her group, she was caught staring.

"You want me to sing?" Katniss asked. Pollux seemed giddy, nodding his head repeatedly and smiling. Juniper unstrapped her guitar and held it in her hands. Katniss looked to Juniper and back to Pollux, hesitant. "Juniper is the singer, not me."

"Nope, you are now." Juniper played a few notes on the guitar, ready for whatever Katniss was about to do. "The birds and I will be the instrumental."

Katniss nodded her head, looking out on the lake. The two girls looked at one another, as if they were reading minds. Juniper began softly playing the guitar, making sure not to outshine Katniss.

"Are you, are you coming to the tree? Where they strung up a man, they say who murdered three."

The birds joined Katniss with their own alterations of the songs, but as the song went on, they began to capture more and more of the tune, remembering the sound they heard from Katniss' voice and Juniper's guitar.

"Where dead man called out, for his love to flee. Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met at midnight in the hanging tree."

Juniper had joined in on some of the vocals, but only sang softly.

"Are you, are you coming to the tree? Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free?"

The birds began understanding more and more of the song, even when it ended, they kept singing the tune. They seemed to be harmonizing with one another.

"Cut." Cressida said. She hadn't yelled it like she normally had, but it still startled Juniper and Katniss nonetheless. "We can head back into town now."

Juniper stood up with her guitar in hand. She noticed the entire group had already started walking, but Finnick was waiting for her. The two didn't speak, even if they walked side by side. They were just comfortable with the silence.
