                                                                                            Leonor

It was Friday. The day I would be meeting Gavi downtown for drinks.

I was nervous. Very nervous, actually. I had no reason to be. I wasn't interested in him, and he wasn't interested in me. It was simple, really.

The only thing that wasn't simple was choosing what to wear. I wanted to look elegant and keep my royal look, but I also wanted to look modern and chic. I was digging through my closet impatiently. None of my dresses seemed to fit the occasion.

Finally, I settled on a dress that I thought would do. It was navy blue and floor length. I had a matching pair of earrings that complimented my eyes extremely well.

I had one hour until I had to be at the restaurant.

Getting ready was the easy part. I put my music on shuffle and blasted it in the bathroom, dancing along to my favorite songs. After I slipped the dress on, I curled my hair lightly, not to the point where it was too curly. I added my earrings and stepped back to look at myself in the mirror.

I smiled a little. I looked good. Really good.

I touched up my makeup from that morning and sprayed some more perfume before I was ready. I grabbed a matching blue handbag and my phone and quickly hustled out of my bedroom.

I ran into Sofia in the hallway, and her eyes immediately lit up.

"Leonor, you look stunning!" She gasped excitedly.

"I tried my best," I laughed, rushing over to her and giving her a hug. I was sort of glad she had set this whole date up for me.

"Text me if you need anything at all. Okay?" Sofia said.

I nodded to her quickly, said my goodbyes, and hustled down the stairs. I had lost track of time, and if I didn't get there soon, I would be late. Great.

Mario was waiting with our personal car out back like promised. I had requested our family car instead of the limo because it would be less recognizable. I didn't want to be seen on my date quite so quickly.

"Mario, please bring me to The Pub downtown, please," I huffed, trying to buckle in my seatbelt. He just nodded and began to pull away from the palace.

The time read 6:55 PM. I was supposed to be there for 7. Shit.

"Can you drive fast, Mario? I'm kind of in a hurry," I called from the backseat. He just blankly stared at me. I was afraid he hadn't heard me.

Suddenly, the car lurched forward. We were speeding down the city streets at lightning speed. At 7 on the dot, we pulled into the parking lot. That was the faster I had ever ridden in a car before.

     "Woah," I gasped.

    "Wow," Mario agreed.

"Have a good date, princess," he called as I stepped out of the vehicle.

"Not a date, but thank you," I retorted over my shoulder, scurrying into the restaurant.

When I entered the restaurant, I paused in the doorway to look for Gavi. He was nowhere to be seen. I huffed to myself, hoping that he showed up. I'd look like an idiot if he didn't.

I finally spotted him sitting at a table in the back corner. He looked nice enough, in his well-pressed suit and tie. Nothing as extreme as me, though. I looked out of place.

He waved to me slightly when he spotted me and I reluctantly walked over to his table. There was no one else on our side of the restaurant, which I was a bit glad for.

As I sat down and placed my bag on the table, Gavi said nothing. Nothing at all. Wow, what a great first impression.

"Why did you invite me to this? Did you lose a bet or something?" I asked.

Gavi scoffed and adjusted his tie.

"I wanted to invite you just because," he mumbled. I was right; I was probably just one of his side chicks.

"Well, thanks," I spat angrily. He laughed at me. This man had the audacity to laugh at the future queen of Spain! I was just nice enough to show up.

"You've seen the rumors, right?" He questioned me.

"No duh. It's not like I live under a rock," I teased.

"Well, you kind of do. You're part of the royal family," he reminded me.

"Thanks for reminding me! I didn't know," I grumbled. I didn't care what he thought of me. I should just get up and leave right now. I was seriously contemplating it.

"I don't want anyone to think we're dating," I said quietly. The server had just walked by our table and eyed us suspiciously.

"Then why did you show up tonight?" He asked me.

"For the food," I answered. It was partially true.

"You're awful snotty for being the future queen, you know," he said.

I stared deep into his eyes after he said that. They were deep brown. Infinitely brown.

"Have you seen yourself? Making out with women left and right? Barely acknowledging my presence at the match when we came all that way to support you?"I scoffed.

He looked taken aback and cleared his throat.

"Look, the real reason I invited you here tonight was because I need to clear my name. I've been caught with too many women. I know you saw me and my friends at the club the other night. You saw that girl," he whispered, his voice trembling.

"Oh. Thanks for that," I responded. I didn't have time for this man's games.

The waitress took our orders. She seemed shocked to see me, and I could tell she was trying to keep her cool.

I ordered shrimp and Gavi order steak. How basic.

"You look nice," he said after a few moments of silence.

"Thank you," I said quietly. He just nodded.

It was the most awkward experience of my life. When our food arrived, we both dug in and began to eat. I finished my shrimp first. We barely said two words to each other.

I kept taking quick glances at him. He looked quite nice himself. However, I would never boost his already high ego by telling him.

The waitress returned with the check. When I laid my card down to pay, Gavi instantly replaced it with his and shoved mine back at me. At least he was being a gentleman.

After the bill was paid, we both stood to our feet and made our way the front entrance. I waved goodbye and said my thank you's to the woman at the front. She smiled at me warmly.

It was dark out by the time we made it outside. I instantly pulled out my phone to text Mario and let him know I was ready to be picked up.

"Just so you know princess, this won't happen again. This was a one time thing. Just to clear the air," Gavi whispered in my ear. I looked up to face him. He looked smug.

"Good. I'm glad. Then I'll never have to see you again!" I laughed. He frowned at me.

As I said goodbye, I spun on my heel to quickly and tripped over the nearest paver. I fell face first into the cement, my chin scraping the ground. Ouch.

I kneeled there, embarrassed and red with shame. Thankfully, nobody saw but Gavi.

     "Nice one!" He called.

I flipped him off before I hurried down the sidewalk to Mario's awaiting car.

As I slouched into the front seat, Mario turned to me.

"How was your 'date'?" He asked me, laughing a bit.

"Horrible. Terrible. Every bad word in the book," I grumbled.

When Mario laughed again, I shot him a look.

We didn't speak the rest of the ride home.
