Gavi
"Come on, Hector. Do better than that!" João complained loudly.
The group of us; me, Pedri, Hector, João and Lamine, were all playing FIFA in my living room. Hector's character had completely missed an open goal, and he had lost the game for all of us.
"It's just a game," Hector grumbled, tossing his controller onto the floor.
"Anyone want food?" I asked, quickly standing to my feet. The other guys eyed me up suspiciously.
"Says the guy who's dating the princess of Spain," Lamine laughed, flashing his braces at me. I didn't laugh in return.
"What the hell," I grumbled under my breath, pinching the bridge of my nose. I loved these guys to death, but sometimes they annoyed the shit out of me.
I made my way into the kitchen, leaving the rest of them behind. Today had been quite a day. Our entire team had gone to Madrid to visit the King and Queen. Their two daughters, Leonor and Sofia, were also there.
Some dumb rumor had been made up that me and Leonor were in a relationship. All lies.
Sure, I'll admit, Leonor is gorgeous. Easily one of the most attractive girls I've ever seen. Still, I barely even know her. Shes nowhere close to being my girlfriend.
I heard footsteps behind me. Spinning around, Pedri stood in my kitchen, munching on a bagel.
"Where did you get that?" I snapped.
"Your pantry," he mumbled through a mouthful of food. Whatever.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked him. I wasn't exactly in the mood to talk.
"Eating. What are you doing?" Pedri retorted.
"It's my house, you know. You're just a guest," I reminded him, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
"I'm also your best friend," he added quickly.
"So, what's up with you and Leonor," Pedri mumbled.
"Nothing, man!" I yelled, throwing my arms up in defeat.
Pedri held his hands up in surrender and backed out of the kitchen.
Maybe what I needed to do was give Leonor a chance. Maybe it would be good for me. I was so used to hooking up with girls every other night. Maybe this was finally my time to prove to myself that I could settle down, even if it was with a girl that I barely knew.
Leonor
"Sofia!" I yelled, banging on her bedroom door. No answer. She had been in there all afternoon; I wasn't sure why she was ignoring me.
"It's an emergency!" I added. My fists were tired of banging.
"What do you want?" Sofia emerged, cracking the door just slightly so I could slip inside. She was wearing a full face of makeup and beautiful pink dress.
"What's the occasion?" I joked, looking her up and down.
"None...of...your.....business," she spat.
"Whatever. Look who just messaged me on Instagram," I said, holding out my phone for her to look at. She snatched it, and when she realized who it was her eyes grew wide.
"Leonor! This is insane! Oh my goodness, I can't believe it," Sofia squealed.
"No it's not! I want nothing to do with him. Can't you tell?" I retorted. She clearly couldn't.
Just a few minutes ago, I had received a message from Gavi. Him personally, not some managing account.
"Hello Leonor, I would love to take you out for drinks sometime. Would any day this week work for you? Let me know please. Best regards, Pablo Gavi."
It looked like a business email. I scoffed to myself.
"Say yes!" She squealed again. Sofia was getting on my nerves.
"Why should I?" I inquired. The guy is annoying. He probably just wants to hook up after our "date".
Sofia snatched my phone before I could protest. I struggled to get it back from her, but since she was taller, I couldn't reach.
"Done."
"I hate you," I screamed, pushing Sofia back onto her bed. I really didn't want to go out with Gavi. It was the least I wanted to do right now.
"Why did you do that? Huh?" I yelled, fuming.
"It's called setting you up, Leonor. You've never gone on a proper date. Just live a little. If you don't like him, then leave. It's that simple," she shrugged.
"I have to finish getting ready," Sofia said, signaling for me to leave her room. I snatched my phone back and grumbled as I retreated back to my own bedroom.
Finish getting ready for what? A date? A secret meeting that our parents didn't know about? Who knows. Who cares.
I slammed my door and locked it, just in case she tried to barge in. I flopped onto my bed, letting my cheek rest against the comforter. It was another hot day in Madrid, like always. August was typically the hottest month.
I sat up in bed, removing my soccer jersey from earlier in the day. Being left in a tank top and my white jeans, I changed into some comfy shorts and a baggy shirt. Much better.
I flicked the TV on, settling back to watch. I sipped my water as I did so. When I was just getting comfortable under the covers, I felt my phone buzz on the nightstand.
I tried to reach over and grab it, the water glass still in my hand, when I dropped it. The glasses shattered on the floor, leaving a huge puddle of water underneath my bed. Perfect.
I grunted as I rolled out of bed. After taking a towel and mopping up the mess, I was finally able to check my phone.
It was a message from Gavi.
INSTAGRAM MESSAGE FROM PABLOGAVI19
"I'm so glad you would like to meet up with me. Any day this week besides Monday and Wednesday would work perfectly."
I stared at the message for a bit. Part of me hated Sofia for doing this. But part of me wanted to go. See what this man was all about. It wouldn't hurt, would it?
It was only Sunday afternoon. I still had time to decide what I wanted to do. I still had plenty of time to prepare.
The message seemed to be calling my name. I shook my head and began to type a response, a real one this time. No more Sofia controlling my love life.
"Hello Gavi, we can definitely make this work. How about Friday afternoon? Any place is fine with me. Let me know and see you then. Kindest regards, Leonor."
And then I clicked send.
Bit of a shorter/filler chapter haha. I don't want to rush this story so I'm trying to build up the suspense. What do you think about them going on their first official date?
