Leonor
After we had spent some time gazing out of the lobby window, we all made our way to the elevator. Hannah and Elena's room was on the second floor, so they got off first, waving to us and telling us they would see us downstairs for dinner later.
The rest of us were rooming on the third floor. When the elevator opened, we entered into the hallway. It was dimly lit, with wood paneling covering the walls. Gio and Chloe waved us goodbye as they walked down the hall to their room; it was on the opposite end of the hall.
It was just me and Gavi left in the hallway.
We slowly made our way down the hallway to our respective rooms. I tried my keycard, but it didn't seem to be working. Shit.
"Pablo! My door won't open!" I yelled. He came to stand beside me and tried to door himself. The lock seemed to be jammed. Just what we needed.
"What am I supposed to do?" I groaned, throwing my head in my hands. He laughed a little, which made me look up at him.
"You shouldn't be laughing right now. This is serious," I reported. His face returned to a solemn smile.
"Just stay in my room for the night. Unless my door doesn't open, too," he joked. I shot him a look. I was about to be staying in Pablo Gavi's hotel room. With him. Alone.
I groaned, opening the door and leading the way into the room. It was huge, with a panoramic view out of the beckoning window. But, there was a real problem.
There was only one bed.
Shit.
I heard him groan from behind me. This was the least thing I was expecting when I came here today.
"Great. This is great," I laughed, tossing my bag onto the floor near the chair. I flopped down onto the bed and closed my eyes in defeat.
"Just to be clear, this is my side and that is yours. Even if we're close friends," I clarified, sitting upright and looking at him. He was settled in the chair, watching me like a hawk.
He just nodded again, laughing a little. I'll admit, it was a bit funny.
"I'm sorry about this," I said shortly. He just shrugged nonchalantly.
"No big deal. It is what it is," he answered. I thought I could hear a hint of happiness in his voice, but maybe I was imagining it.
"We have to get ready for dinner soon anyways," I said, standing to my feet and walking to the bathroom. "I get to use the bathroom first, too," I teased. He just smirked.
Maybe I wasn't so mad about sharing a room with him. Maybe part of me had wanted something like this to happen.
I entered the bathroom and flicked the light on, staring at my reflection. I looked tired, but I was. I felt tired from the journey today.
We were all meeting down in the lobby dining hall at 6 PM. We still had an hour.
I used the bathroom, brushed my hair, and applied some skincare.
I reentered the bedroom to find Gavi hunched over my suitcase, digging through it.
"Move!" I yelled, pushing him out of the way.
"Sorry," he murmured, throwing his hands up in defeat. He hadn't gotten far into searching my suitcase. I dug through it to find the dress I wanted before I zipped it back up, glaring at him.
"It was a little funny," he admitted, shrugging.
"Whatever. I'm going to get ready," I said over my shoulder, returning to the bathroom. I locked the door behind me, just in case.
I stripped out of my sweats and shimmied the dress on, pulling it over my hips. It settled on my curves nicely. It was a beautiful black color with a slit in the leg. Not too elegant, but not too revealing either.
I straightened my hair, marveling at the sheer length of it. I rarely ever straightened it.
I put on some light makeup, a few sprays of perfume on my pulse points, and a swatch of lipgloss on my lips. I smacked them together, squinting at myself in the mirror.
I actually looked good. I wondered what Gavi would say.
Just to be nice, I neatly placed my toiletries bag under the sink and out of the way. He was nice enough to let me share his room, hopefully just for the night.
I emerged from the bathroom in my dress, and he immediately looked up. His eyes lingered on me for a while. It made me start to blush, no matter how much I tried to hide it.
"I like that dress," he said finally.
"Thank you. Go get ready, we have to leave soon," I teased him, shooing him in the direction of the bathroom. He rolled his eyes and stood up, grabbing his clothes as he did so.
He returned a few minutes later, wearing a black turtleneck and a pair of coral colored shorts. It was an interesting outfit, but he managed to make it look good. He looked good in everything, after all.
"Let's go," he motioned, and I stood off of the bed, following him out the door. He locked it behind him.
"Hold on," I said, rushing over to my room's door. I tried the handle again. Still locked. I sighed under my breath as I returned to Gavi, who was waiting in the elevator.
"That adamant to get out of sharing a room with me, Leonor?" He inquired, cocking an eyebrow. Something in my stomach began to jump.
The elevator slowly descended to the ground floor, and we emerged into the lobby. The restaurant was right down the hall, behind the check-in desk.
When we entered, I spotted the group immediately. We were the last ones there.
As we hustled over to the table, I took in their outfits. Hannah and Elena were wearing matching white sundresses, while Gio and Chloe were both sporting cream colored shirts and jeans. Me and Gavi were definitely the most dressed up; we looked like a couple.
"Sorry we're late. We had a little....situation with the room," I sighed, settling down beside Chloe. She looked at me with a knowing look on her face.
"What kind of situation?" Hannah asked from across the table. She was smiling.
"The door to my room got jammed, so my key card wouldn't work. I have to stay in Gavi's room for the night," I muttered. All of the girls gasped. Gio held back a laugh that turned into a messy cough.
"Sorry," he said, holding his hands up as we all stared at him.
Nobody mentioned the room situation for the rest of dinner. Chloe had ordered glasses of wine for all of us, even though I didn't drink. I passed Gavi my glass, and he happily downed it.
The waiter came around a while later, apologizing for the wait. The dining hall was full.
I order a plate of spaghetti and meatballs; I was absolutely starving. Chloe and Gio ordered a steak to share. Gavi and Hannah ordered fish, while Elena ordered a bowl of veggie soup. The waiter scurried off after we were finished.
We talked about this and that until our food arrived 20 minutes later. Considering the busy restaurant, it was good timing.
I dug into my noodles immediately, wrapping them around my fork. It was delicious; one of the most amazing meals I had ever eaten. The others were enjoying their food, too. Gio and Chloe were pulling apart their steak. It was tender and juicy, just how I liked it.
I was the first to finish my dinner. Gavi and Hannah had barely made a dent in their respective fish plates, while Elena was still sipping her soup.
When we were all finished, Chloe and Hannah began arguing about who would pay the bill.
"You booked our hotel, Chloe! I should pay!" Hannah spat, slamming her fork on the table.
"It's my treat! Let me pay!" Chloe retorted back.
Eventually, they came to an agreement. Hannah paid the bill, and she was happy to do so. That was why she was my best friend in school; she was always considerate about others, especially when it came to money.
We all made our way back into the elevator. Hannah and Elena got off first like usual, waving goodbye and telling us they would see us in the morning. We had a ski tour planned for tomorrow morning.
The rest of us said our goodbyes as we walked down the hallway to our rooms. Gavi unlocked the door with his keycard and let us in. I immediately hurried into the bathroom, stripping out of my dress and hopping into the shower. The hot water steamed up the glass as I washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner. It felt so relaxing after a long day.
I dried off with a complimentary towel, squeezing the excess water out of my ringlets. I put on my heart pajamas and did my skincare before leaving the bathroom and shutting the light off behind me.
Gavi was sitting on his side of the bed, scrolling on his phone. He looked up when I walked in.
"You look cold," he said lightly.
"I'm not," I lied, trying to hide my shiver. I glanced out of the darkened window at the property. A few stray snowflakes were drifting through the night air.
I crawled into my side of the bed, facing away from Gavi. I texted my parents and Sofia goodnight before shutting my phone off and placing it on the nightstand.
"Are you sure you're not cold?" Pablo asked me sweetly. I rolled over so I was facing him.
"No," I lied again, rolling my eyes. He shrugged and sat up in bed, taking off his shirt. I tried not to glance at him, but it was too hard not to.
His sculpted muscles greeted my eyes as he pulled the shirt up and over his head, tossing it into a pile on the floor. I must have been staring, because when he turned back to me, he began to laugh. A deep chuckle.
"Like what you see?" He teased, blushing a little.
I tried to avert my eyes, but failed miserably.
"Maybe. I'm tired. Goodnight, Pablo," I yawned, stretching and rolling over in bed to shut the light off. The room was plunged into darkness. It felt eerily quiet.
I was almost asleep, drifting off to the image of falling snow, when I felt an arm snake around my waist.
I tried to shoo the arm away, but it wasn't working. It gripped me tighter, until my clothed back was met with a hard chest.
"Move, Gavi." I groaned, shoving him a little.
"You're freezing, princess. Go to sleep. Goodnight," he said groggily. His voice sounded tired, just like mine.
"This isn't happening tomorrow, by the way," I grumbled. I heard him laugh in response.
I slept the best I had in a long time that night. Maybe it was the fact that I was being held in his arms, or maybe it was the fact I was in a foreign country with my best friends. But more than likely, it was both.
