It had been 2 months now after the end of the war against the Qishan Wen Sect, the city in Yunmeng began to flourished once again, moving on from the horrors that fell upon them when Lotus Pier were invaded. The Jiang Sect is now seeing new faces joining the sect every day.
Meanwhile, a person in white walked among the busy streets of Yunmeng, causing every eyes to trailed on him as the appearance of a white-robed man with stainless white forehead ribbon tied around his forehead and his guqin strapped on his back while his trusted spiritual sword on his waist.
His whole person portrayed such grace but there is the frost and snow that surrounded his figure.
Cultivators met his eyes with utter respect and the most well-known ones would bravened up and saluted to the young man. "HanGuang-Jun."
Lan WangJi nodded to the passing cultivators slightly, still maintaining his pace as the others didn't dare to bother him so they know to back off.
Suddenly, a young maiden in vibrant robes brushed shoulders with him in a hurry before tossing something toward his body.
Lan WangJi caught the object swiftly, looking down to see that it was a bud of a flower that is white as snow.
The Second Master of Lan stared at the bud silently before another slender figure approached from in front of him and with a wave of her hand, a small blue flower was tossed at him. Aiming for his chest but ended up on his shoulder. He too caught that as well.
Lan WangJi turned to look at the maiden, who giggled without a hint of embarrassment and walked off.
It happened the third time when a younger girl with her hair worn in double buns hopped over with an armful of sprigs dotted with red buds. She then flew away the moment she tossed them toward his chest.
One after another, Lan WangJi found himself carrying an armful of different flowers that were thrown from multiple maidens that appear and disappear in an instant. The cultivators couldn't help but stare, not outright laughing but their stare lingers. While, the ordinary people who didn't recognise him, however, had already started to point at him.
The latter was pondering with downcast eyes when he felt something fell on his head. He raised his hand to pick the object up and saw that it was an orchid.
"Well, what a surprise to see you here, HanGuang-Jun."
Lan WangJi looked up to see an airy pavilion above him lined with layers and layers of gauze curtains. Sitting at the edge of the balcony was a young woman dressed in dark robes that complimented her pale skin and long white hair with a crimson red ribbon tied around her neck. In one of her hands held a long smoking pipe.
Upon noticing the face of Wei WuHui, the surrounding cultivators grew somewhat uncomfortable. Everyone knew that the Yiling Matriarch and HanGuang-Jun did not have a good relationship. During the Sunshot Campaign, when they would be fighting together on the battlefield, they were seen arguing multiple times.
Complete opposite of Wei WuHui's twin, Wei WuXian, who drew closer to Lan WangJi over the time of war and even more closer after the Hunt on Phoenix Mountain.
Nobody seem to know what will happen between them this time.
"It is you." Lan WangJi spoke, still maintaining the cold facade.
Wei WuHui smirked playfully. "Of course it is me, who else would do such a ridiculous thing other than Gege? What brings you here in Yunmeng when it isn't the day for our usual meeting? If you're not busy, come up here and have a friendly drink with me."
Then, a few other maidens circled around her, all cramped onto the divan while laughing at those down below. "Yes, Gongzi, come up here and have a drink!"
It was the girls that tosses flowers at him earlier on. There were no need to say who was the person that suggested that to them to do such a thing.
Lowering his head, Lan WangJi turned around and proceeded to leave.
Wei WuHui raised a brow, not surprised to see no reactions from the latter as she clicked her tongue, rolling down the divan and brought her pipe to her lip. As she exhaled a puff of smoke, she heard the sound of light footsteps coming up the stairs.
The curtains parted as Lan WangJi entered the room. He then placed a bundle of flowers that had been thrown at him onto the table. "Your flowers."
Wei WuHui slanted her body until she reached the table. "You're welcome. It's yours now since I've gave them to you."
"Why?" Lan WangJi inquired.
"Why not? Consider it as a gift between friends." Wei WuHui retorted. "Now come and sit, and have a sip of liquor with me."
The girls immediately took out a new cup as they poured it full and pushed it toward the bundle of flowers. Not surprisingly, Lan WangJi did not make a move to reach for the cup of wine or to sit down. However, he didn't seem like he was going to leave either.
"You've visited Yunmeng a couple of times now for only the sole purpose to aid me with keeping that cursed artifact at bay. And yet you don't want to drink with me? The seats are right there, and you're still standing? Go sit, won't you?" Wei WuHui explained light-heartedly.
"Go sit!"
"Go sit!"
"Go sit!"
The other girls urged.
Lan WangJi observed the maidens coldly before his gaze landed on the charcoal-black, red-tasseled flute by Wei WuHui's waist. His eyes looking down as if he is thinking of the best wordings. "You should not accompany yourself with inhuman beings for so long."
The smiles on the girls immediately vanished when Lan WangJi spoke.
Meanwhile, Wei WuHui simply sighed. Already expecting what the young master would say.
The gauze curtains swayed, at times blocking out the sunlight. With the pavilion shifting from light and dark, it showed their snow-white cheeks being a bit too pale, so drained of blood that they almost seemed ashen. Their eyes staring daggers at Lan WangJi.
Wei WuHui lifted her hand, gesturing for them to move to the side as she shook her head. "Lan WangJi, you really do become more boring the older you grow. You're still young, not like you're in your seventies, so don't go copying your uncle all the times, thinking of nothing but scolding others."
Lan WangJi's eyes narrowed at her as he stepped closer. "Wei WuHui, it is best for you to come back to Gusu with me." He stated.
Wei WuHui simply rose a brow. "It's my first time hearing that from you, instead from A-Huan. And yet, I thought the two of you had given up long ago."
"You must've noticed certain signs back in Phoenix Mountain." Lan WangJi urged.
"What signs?"
"The loss of control." Lan WangJi answered.
"You mean when I almost got into a fight with Jin ZiXuan? I think you got something wrong. I always wanted to fight with Jin ZiXuan whenever I see him." Wei WuHui chuckled.
"And the things you said afterwards." Lan WangJi added.
"What things? You'll have to specify, HanGuang-Jun, I say so many things every day. I've long since forgotten about the things I said two months ago." Wei WuHui retorted before taking another puff from her smoking pipe.
"Wei WuHui, the ghost path harms the body and the heart." Lan WangJi continued stubbornly.
Wei WuHui sighed once again, rubbing her temple in annoyance. "Lan WangJi, you...I've heard more of this with A-Huan before and now his own brother is coming after me for this. You say that it harms the body, but I'm fine right now. You say that it harms the heart, but I haven't become that ftenzied, have I?"
"It is not too late yet. In the future, even if you regret..."
"Lan WangJi, enough!" Finally losing the last thread of calmness left in her, Wei WuHui shot up from her seat with a frustrated expression.
Responding to that, the girls behind her had red glows within their eyes.
Which the dark maiden noticed as she breathed in and out as a way to relax. "Stop it."
With that said, the girls lowered their heads and retreated, still however maintaining their gazes on Lan WangJi.
"Look here, Lan WangJi, the only reason I am able to tolerate you for this long is because of A-Huan and Gege. But what can I say? Even though I don't think that I'll regret it, I don't like it when people take guesses at how I'm going to be in the future, either." Wei WuHui explained sternly.
After a while of silence, Lan WangJi bowed his head. "I am the one who was out of line." He stated apologetically.
"Not really. But, indeed, looks like I was too hasty with the idea of inviting you for a friendly drink. Today was because of my presumption." The maiden huffed.
"It was not." Lan WangJi protested.
Wei WuHui smiled. "Really? That's good then."
With a final puff, Wei WuHui stood up to make her departure. "But, no matter what, I should still thank you. I'll take it as you being concerned for your Xiǎo-Gū." She grinned teasingly after saying that title as Lan WangJi's ears can be seen burning red.
"You..." The male stammered.
Wei WuHui giggled. "Let's meet up again if the chance comes up." And with that said, she left the room. Leaving behind a flustered Young Master.
