"The founder of Lan Sect, An, came from the temple and was raised by the Sanskrit. He was intelligent and enlightened, devoted to study with an outstanding aptitude. When his Dharma was expounded, all the illustrious ones gathered. He transcended all through Chan, thus renowned far and wide."
Nie MingJian let out a big yawn, boredom all over her face as she half-listened to Lan QiRen's explanation of the Lan Sect's founder. She then grunted when Wei WuHui gently elbowed her, prompting her to pay attention. Today's class allowed both males and females to attend as they stood around the Orchid Room while Lan QiRen stood on the platform at the front.
"When he came of age at 20, he secularised with the surname Lan from QieLan, and lived as a musician. He's fluent in music, skilled in guqin and flute, seeking the path of cultivation and journeying through the physical realm. When he transversed through Gusu, he met the fated love of his life and they become cultivation partners. They went through thick and thin together, laying the foundation for Lan Sect. When his lover perished, he returned to the temples for the rest of his life. These 4 paintings depict the Lan Sect's founder, Lan An's 4 scenes of his life. QieLan, XiYue, DaoLu and GuiJi."
"Wow, never knew the Lan can be romantic like that." Nie MingJian blurted out.
"So, the founder of Lan Sect was a monk, no wonder his descendants have so many rules and are clueless about romanticism." Wei WuXian grinned as he stood in between Wei WuHui and Jiang Cheng.
"I wouldn't say that, Gege. The Lan Sect do know how to create a true love story." Wei WuHui swooned as her eyes sparkled with admiration. "I always want to know Lan An and his lover's story."
Nie MingJian grinned mischievously. "Why? Want some love advices for you and ZeWu-Jun?"
Wei WuHui immediately froze before she glared in embarrassment at the latter. "B-Be quiet, A-Qiao!"
Lan ChunTao giggled. "If you want, A-Yang, I can lend you some books about Lan An's journey." She offered teasingly.
"Dajie, not you too!" Wei WuHui whined, causing both of her sworn sisters to laugh.
"Lan An was like a deity among mortals, I wonder how ethereal his lover must be." A Jin disciple then spoke as the maidens turned toward him. "The current cultivation sects have no lack of exquisite fair ladies either. ZiXuan-Xiลng, who do you think is the fairest?"
Jin ZiXuan looked at him before huffed as he turned around to leave without saying anything.
"Leave him out of that question. He already has a fiancรฉe, his answer would obviously be her."
Jin ZiXuan's face immediately scrunched in distaste as the conservation continued.
"Really? Which fair lady would that be? She must be of sublime talent and beauty! Is she one of the top five?"
Jin ZiXuan then slammed his hand on the door, putting a stop in the topic. "Don't bring that up again."
"What do you mean by that?" Wei WuXian spoke, glaring heatedly at the Jin Heir.
Wei WuHui's brows furrowed in concern and instantly went over to stood behind her brother.
Jin ZiXuan scowled. "Is the phase 'don't bring it up' too difficult to understand?"
"I wonder what exactly is Jin-Xiong unsatisfied with my Shฤซjiฤ." Wei WuXian continued.
Everyone in the room realised the identity of the Jin Sect Heir's to be the eldest child of YunmengJiang Sect. Jiang YanLi.
Jiang YanLi is the daughter of Jiang FengMian, Jiang Cheng's eldest sister. Her personality was gentle, with nothing too notable; her voice was smooth, was nothing too memorable. Her appearance was only above average, and her talents weren't impressed either, earning her the 5th place in the list of young maidens in the cultivation world.
On the other hand, her fiancรฉ, Jin ZiXuan, was the offical son of Jin GuangShan with outstanding appearance and exceptional talents. According to common sense, with Jiang YanLi's conditions, it was reasonable for them to not be well-matched to each other. The only reason why Jiang YanLi was able to enter an engagement with Jin ZiXuan was because of her mother being from the MeishanYu Sect and the said Sect are quite friendly with the other Sect where Jin ZiXuan's mother was from. The two madams grew up together and had a close sisterhood.
"Oh, so it's that mediocre Jiang YanLi, no wonder ZiXuan-Xiong..."
Jin ZiXuan clenched his hands into fists as he glared at Wei WuXian. "You should ask her which aspect of her even earns my satisfaction."
"You-!" Jiang Cheng glared.
Wei WuHui's eyes widened a bit before narrowing into a dark look.
Wei WuXian gritted his teeth and clenched his hands angrily and walked over to where the Jin Heir stood as he stopped in front of him.
"Uh-oh, things are not looking too good." Nie MingJian commented.
"Oh dear..." Lan ChunTao frowned worriedly.
"What? Did I say anything wrong? If you really adore your nice shijie that much, then ask her father's approval!" Jin ZiXuan retorted arrogantly.
Wei WuXian grabbed his collar and was about to punch him when a hand stopped him.
"Gege, stop! You're on your last strike, if you break another rule, Lan-Shifu will be furious." Wei WuHui protested, although she remains rigid when listening Jin ZiXuan's rude remarks.
"Mรจimei-!"
Jin ZiXuan didn't just stop there. "Listen to your sister, Wei WuXian. Truthfully, if I have to choose, I would prefer a maiden like Wei WuHui or Lan Gลซ-Niang to be my fiancรฉe. If you really adore your nice shijie that much, then ask her father's approval! He treats you and your sister closer than his own children anyway."
The next thing that happen shocked almost everyone in the room as Jin ZiXuan felt himself being socked on his cheek, sending him flying to the ground.
Every eye stared in bewilderment as Jin ZiXuan held his cheek in disbelief and looked up at the person who laid their hand on him.
"Our shijie is the most kindest and beautiful girl in the entire cultivation world. Don't you dare insult her like that!" Wei WuHui death-glared down at the male.
Jin ZiXuan clenched his jaw, still not believing in the fact that a girl managed to caught him off guard as he glared back at the maiden angrily and staggered up on his feet. "Y-You bitch!"
Wei WuXian sneered angrily and went around his sister, grabbing onto the Jin heir and swung his fist at his other cheek. "Don't call my Mรจimei that, you bastard!"
"They start brawling! Brawling!"
"IMPUDENTS! THE CLOUD RECESSES IS NO PLACE FOR BRAWLING!"
