𝐱𝐢𝐯. 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥

Soojin and Jaeheon were digging two deep holes which were supposed to serve as graves. The sun was shining on the ground. The hole that girl was digging was much smaller than the one that was man digging. The shovel in her hand was extremely heavy, and not because of the weight of it, but because of the person that was supposed to lay in there.
Soojin took off her hoodie, feeling sweat on her neck and forehead. After an hour, they already finished digging. The girl took a bottle of water.

"We need to bring the bodies," said Jaeheon, panting

Soojin looked at him, pursing her lips, "I'm sorry, but..." she run through her hair with fingers

"It's okay," Jaeheon nodded his head, "I'm gonna find someone to help, don't worry"

"Thank you"

   The man left the room. Soojin put the shovel and water on the ground, and sat, pulling her knees to the chin. She was grateful that the man didn't forced her to anything.

"Hey, asshole" Soojin turned her head to Nayeon, who sat next to her, holding her hands in pockets, "How you feeling?"

The girl shrugged, "Not so bad, I guess. I'm waiting for Jaeheon to bring the bodies of ms. Cha's daughter and this soldier"

"Su-ung, yeah," Nayeon sighed, rubbing her forehead, "Ahhh this all is so fucked up"

She embraced her friend with a hand, stroking her arm. Soojin put the head on girl's shoulder, and also sighed.

"Good thing that we have each other"

"Right, and it better stay this way"

Nayeon made a threatening gesture. The girls looked at each other and smiled. They put their heads together, closing their eyes.

"So you and Hyunsoo..."

"Bye," Soojin opened her eyes and rapidly moved her head away, standing up, "Jesus, Nayeon stop acting like you're in high school. You're 23, grow up"

The girl giggled at her. Soojin huffed irritated, crossing her arms on the chest.

"I'm sorry, but I'm just very curious," Nayeon get on her knees, taking Soojin's hands. The girl tried not to smile, "Tell me. Do you like him?"

She asked her this question a lot in a few days. And after another time, Soojin started really thinking about that. Of course, she liked Hyunsoo, they were a perfect match in fighting monsters, and he was a person she felt safe with. But that what friend is. It doesn't need to have another meaning. But also she felt unsure. She had never fallen in love before, so how could she know. 
But it was disrespectful to talk right now about things like that.

"Don't you know that curiosity killed the cat, unnie?" Soojin raised her eyebrows, pushing girl's hand away, "There's gonna be a funeral, so act serious, have some maturity. Stop being nosy, and focus on important things"

"Like what? There's nothing for me to do here," Nayeon shrugged, "I'm waiting until mr. Han is gonna have a moment to make me some kind of weapon, then I would be ready to go for a mission, like you"

Soojin rolled her eyes, and sat again on the ground, "You're acting like it's so fun. But it's terrifying when you're facing the monster"

"I know, I don't want to sound irresponsible, but I want to help. Be useful"

Soojin gave her a sad smile. She didn't know how her friend feels, but she was happy that she told her that. She took Nayeon's hand.

"Alright, don't worry, you for sure gonna have a situation when you could help others. Just wait"

Nayeon pursed her lips, but smiled. Soojin squeezed her hand.

    To the room walked Jaeheon and Sangwook holding the stretcher with a body on it. It was covered by blanket, by just by the size of the person you could guess that it was Su-ung. The men put the stretcher on the ground. Then they picked the body, Jaeheon holding h by legs and Sangwook by armpits, as they slowly put him in the bigger hole. They took the blanket off. Jaeheon looked at Soojin and tilted his head in the direction of the hole. The girl nodded her head. Two men left the room.

"Come on," Soojin stood up, grabbing her shovel, "You want to help? We need to bury him"

Nayeon nodded her head, and took another shovel. The girl walked to the hole, looking down at the Su-ung's body. Soojin felt her stomach twist. It was so weird, seeing the dead body, that's been already dead for more than one day. She didn't want to seem disrespectful, but it was hard to stop the gag looking at the corpse.

    The girls started throwing soil to the hole, slowly covering Su-ung. Meanwhile, Jaeheon and Sangwook brought on the stretcher Mujin, mr. Cha's daughter. They went to put her to another hole, but they were interrupted.

"Can you wait?"

Everyone turned to the woman's voice. Mr. Cha walked to the room, holding to the wall. She very slowly walked to the stretcher. Jaeheon and Sangwook walked away, giving her space. She kneeled next to it, taking off the blanket from the girl's face. Her lips started trembling, and seconds later the whole body was shaking. Soojin saw tears in the woman's eyes, and soon realised that she also is on the verge of crying. The woman placed her hand on the girl's cheek, petting it with love. Ms. Cha put her head on her daughter's chest, and started sobbing, still petting her cheek.

People gathered in front of the graves. The two crosses made of wood by mr. Han were put in the ground. Mr. Cha was sitting in front her daughter's grave, while Jaeheon was praying in front Su-ung's grave.

    Soojin was standing in the back, with Jisu and Nayeon. To the room walked Kim sibling, holding in hands two flowers made of paper, like origami. One was blue, and another one was orange. Suyeong walked to mr. Ahn, giving him their diy. The man put one flower for each grave.

"That's very sweet of you, guys," whispered Soojin

She put her hands on sibling's arms, as they walked to her. They stood in front of the girl, as she hugged them from behind. Yeonsu grabbed her hand.

   Mr. Ahn put his hand to the forehead, and saluted. He spoke the words that howled in Soojin's head:

"WE WERE BORN HUMANS AND WE'LL DIE AS HUMANS"
