slight trigger warning: a brief mention of blood and needle. also sorry if this took so long to be publish.
"I'm not doing this, I'm not doing this, I'm not doing this."
Doyoung's rambles resonated all throughout the small room, the vampire glancing over his own reflection on the mirror; his hair slick back, wearing a white puffy shirt and dark dress pants top it along with a sleeveless black blazer. The vampire went back in circles and had himself sweating in nervousness, the small room suffocating his dry throat along his whole body tensing, muscles started to go numb and tensify severely. He was absolutely not ready for this day to come at all.
The six year old twins were witnessing their father hyperventilating a distance from their seats, shifting their eyes to each other and nudged each other on how to calm Doyoung down, small squeaks and mumbles as the kids were bickering on it. In the end, Dopyo gave up and spoke up. "Dad, you can do it. You'll do great." he cheers his dad up, hoping it will work.
"Yeah dad, mom threw coffee at you when you two first saw each other and you managed to survive and fall in love with her until now." Daisy added casually with a smile plastered.
Doyoung instantly cocked his head to face his eldest and have a brow raised at the Kim. "Okay, who told you that?" he questions, his nervousness disappeared and was replaced with embarrassment, cheeks turning into a shade of peach, teeth gritted slightly as he cringed at the memory. Now remembering his first encounter with you makes him want to bury himself on the ground, a thousand kilometers deep due to humiliation and mayhaps bury his attitude towards you before with him too.
"Uh no one?" Daisy replies softly, mirroring his dad's brow and has one quipped at him. She immediately dropped her act when she saw his brows furrowed, eyes started to redden in frustration, making the eldest chuckled nervously and confessed unconsciously. "Uncle Ten t-told me."
"Thanks for that and now I have a good reason to throw Ten at the sky again after so long." Doyoung utters with a chuckle, recalling how he used to throw the half out of boredom and for pure entertainment, his tensing muscles slowly easing down. He smiled at the memory but quickly had his lips turned upside down when he encountered a specific someone on his memory. "Where's your mom when I need her the most?" he asks with a frown, suddenly having the urge to miss you even though he saw you minutes ago.
"Mom and Winter went out," Dopyo answers nonchalantly, remembering the teary eyelids of his little sister as you calm her down outside, letting your new youngest see anything that will cheer her up or anything that fascinates her eyes to look at.
Doyoung nods and looks back at his reflection in the mirror, nervousness starts kicking within him again. He takes a deep breath, exhaling all the overwhelming anxiety and his scary thoughts on the upcoming ceremony. He had been preparing himself for the ceremony for almost a lifetime and even if he was ready to face his responsibility on being a ruler, he still wanted to ditch it for the last time, but he can't and the realm needs someone to look up to and a leader to lead and follow orders to. He sighs sharply and has his shoulders slopped. "How do I look, kids?" the vampire questions once more but startled when someone else answered instead of the twins.
"You look like an old shag that came out of a renaissance painting."
"You look like a priest who's depressed to validate your crush's wedding ceremony."
Kun and Ten snickers whilst they walk towards the stressed vampire, resisting to laugh out loud on seeing how unamused Doyoung is, the two males placing their hands over each side of Doyoung's shoulder. Ten gave the stressed older a sly smile, throwing teasing daggers using his eyebrows at the male. "But whatever you wear, y/n will always love you and that's all that matters loverboy,"
Doyoung rolls his eyes at the corniness of the half's word and nudges him away, thinking of throwing Ten at this instant to relieve his overwhelming stress and his teasing, but he wanted to act professional and restrain the urge. He composed himself and fixed his blazer, slicking his hair back with enthusiasm and sigh, telling that he was already to face his long time fate.
Meanwhile, you were carrying your youngest and entertaining her from throwing another outburst in advance, letting her see the majestic painting decorated at the cream walls, Winter being fascinated on seeing such vibrant and pretty colors with her tiny doe eyes. You giggled at your daughter letting out gibberish words while she looked at the painting, most likely talking to you about her incoherent insight on the view she's looking at.
As you two walked into the deeper part of the halls, you were also making yourself busy glancing, moreover on windows rather than paintings that your daughter is focusing on, distraited on the dual toned sky that has little stars flicking light at the dark atmosphere. It took you quite recently to discover that stars also exist in this realm, you just barely noticed it before.
Outside the window, you drown yourself at the dark scenery, the dual toned sky that witness you all throughout your stay at the realm; your fright when you first got into the place, the loneliness you felt when you first hate the realm, the soothing enjoyment you felt on loving your husband and the grief you felt too when you thought you lose him forever. The sky was there on your downfalls, watching you from above at your weeps towards hardship. You were thankful at the scenery that stayed put for you to release all your emotions at looking over the horizon, the dual toned atmosphere catching all your stress and worries with the calm darkness.
Watching the stars shining in the sky makes you realize something, with a pit of darkness and despondency, there will always be light for you to look forward to, an assurance that there will be better days ahead for you.
And yet five years ago, you leaped on holding on when you lost him, and you were glad that you did. Guess every rough time has it's ending.
Your lips curved up and you tilt your head to face your little one, squinting in realization that you lost track in time. You hold onto Winter and start walking back to the venue, mind wondering how Doyoung is dealing with his nervousness, hoping that he's doing fine on his own. You halt your movements on seeing a familiar tanned male across you, gasping to see the Lee holding a little girl with him. "Is she the princess that you were talking about, Hyuck?"
"Yup, she's the little princess of my life, noona." Donghyuck replies with the softest smile, walking near you and exchanging greetings with you. The Lee giggles when his little one hides her tiny face in the creek of his neck, the little Lee being shy of two unfamiliar people. "Princess, don't be shy, say hi to your aunt y/n." he instructs with a low voice, convincing his daughter to greet you.
"She's beautiful." You commented with a grin, seeing the little one looking through her eyelashes, curiosity glistering to her doe eyes. She raised her head and waved her hands slightly, cheeks puffed cutely as she did so. Winter saw the interaction and wave at the girl also, smiling brightly and chatting incoherently, gibberish words utter to say hello. You and Donghyuck cooed when the little one waved back at the younger girl, uttering a soft yet adorable hello too, in which your daughter started to chat along. "I think Winter likes Min, guess these two will be friends then." You commented with a smile, Mark and Donghyuck mentioning their daughter's name a couple of times for you to recall it.
You and the younger male have a little chit chat for a brief while, catching Winter murmuring a gibberish conversation to Min which you and Hyuck chuckled on seeing how confused the little Lee is on Winter. The chat didn't last long when Hyuck told you the ceremony was about to start, making you question his words.
"Aren't you attending also?"
"Uh no," he confesses with a tip lipped smile filled with displease and sadness. "Other Min needs to get vaccinated.... You know Doyoung hyung still holds grudges on me right?" He states in a slow pace, lip biting at the middle of his sentence as he remembers the said information. Donghyuck isn't that naive towards the vampire he onced killed before.
And you knew Hyuck was right on his statement. Though you heard that Doyoung and Hyuck had talked a few times and forgave one another, it wasn't a lie that your husband held a grudge on the male for threatening you even if you told Doyoung that you forgave the young boy. You also ask about the issue towards your husband who often shuts you down because he doesn't want to talk about it. Which you respect his decision.
At the end of the day, you watch Donghyuck and his daughter leave, wishing them a safe trip once they go. Both of you know that it will be better if Hyuck leaves since the two of you didn't want Doyoung to be upset on his very special day, a simple grudge can turn into something else because of the pressure your husband is handling today. You and Winter waved goodbye to the Lees and you squinted upon seeing the male teleported in an instance, almost feeling your heartbeat race all of the sudden.
'You should probably get used to Donghyuck being a vampire from now on.' you thought.
You shake your head and carry your youngest all the way back to the venue proper, encountering Jaehyun in the said place. The Jung placed a hand over your shoulder and smiled at you, only for his smile to instantly fade when your eyes were piercing against him. "Still mad at me?"
"Well no, but sulk is the closest answer I guess." you shrugged and used your free hand to remove his hand over you, exhaling sharply through your nostrils. "I just can't believe you let your girlfriend have a child at nineteen, Jae." you murmured in a monotone voice, eyes focusing on your daughter wanting to be held by her uncle.
Jaehyun nodded and didn't discuss any further, knowing your reasons for your sulkiness towards the older is enough for him to shut himself up on explaining his side, the half knows that you're already well aware of it anyway. He let out a long sigh and guided you to your assigned seat. "Well wish me luck at least, it's also my special day y/n." he mumbles with a small smile, cooing at how Winter wanted to be with him but he can't, he has his girlfriend and a year old son to worry about.
You shake your head and sigh, even if you have a tinsy winsy sulkiness to him you can't resist your adorable brother. "Fine, good luck Jae and please remember how proud I am for you." you cheered, earning Winter to follow up with incoherent words. You look at the Jung and realize something on seeing his formal attire behold you. "Also, tell Doyoung to relax, I have a gut feeling he's in the urge to throw Ten at the sky aga—"
And that's when Jaehyun cuts you off. "Actually, he just did a minute ago." he announced in a low voice, chuckling octaves deep on seeing your brows furrowed. He then tells you the tea that the poor half was annoying the life out of your husband to help the vampire release his stress, but Doyoung took it the other way. Your husband was too stressed to the point he couldn't contain himself and remove a stressor near him, which is no other than the poor Ten Lee. "But don't worry, Doyoung's fine now all thanks for Ten, you could have seen Ten's pissed face though." he laughs at the memory, intrigues at the sight of neos fighting within his eyesight.
And it will forever fascinate him to see them fighting while he's unbothered and enjoying the good ol' argument the neos have to offer.
Your chit chat with the Jung didn't last long when you heard Lucas shout that the ceremony was about to start, instructing everyone to calm their horses and sit down on their respective seats. Your eyes catch people following the direction, familiar faces of the neos you know and the rest were a few faces that you encountered at the corp a couple of times.
Looking at the people around you made you remember three people that you lost years ago; Taeil, Taeyong and Johnny, their lives were sacrificed just to save the others. You frown on the memory, closing your eyes as you sigh, knowing that they never deserve such death in the first place. You hope that their sacrifices will be worthy of making this realm a better place.
And your hope will definitely come true by someone who knows how to handle their new responsibility.
Your eyes scan around to look over the twins, looking at their uncles on the possibility of seeing the kids clinging to them. You let out a chuckle to see Daisy starting an argument with Yangyang, your eldest rolling her eyes in annoyance at how the older is holding her, your mind reading hers and she wanted to get carried by Jaemin, which the said Na isn't available as of this moment since he's part of the ceremony also. Your eyesight wanders around the small room looking onto your little prince, only to be surprised to see him getting carried by Ten.
You swear you almost wheeze out loud on seeing Ten's hair slightly decorated with twigs and leaves, a soothing ornament that highlighted his majestic outfit. You shake your head and cover your mouth as you resist the urge to laugh. All the half did was to roll his eyes on you, holding onto your son and sigh, couldn't believe that you were laughing at his suffering rather than being worried. Ten was actually hoping that you would defend him the very least but seems like you were chill enough to just snicker instead, poor him.
Your snicker didn't last long when your guts felt someone was looking at you, the strong feeling inside of you looking at the culprit burst rapidly, cocking your head to find someone, only to smile on who that someone is. You frown on seeing his pleading anxious eyes at how nervous he is hiding at the curtains on the very right, gripping onto the poor red silky curtains for dear life. You know how big deal this is for Doyoung to finally face his fate for so long and how nervewarcking he must be feeling in his own shoes, and you know exactly how to calm him down this instant.
"Hey, you're going to do alright love. I know how overwhelmed you are but remember everyone here got your back on this one, you're not alone on this new responsibility. I and the rest present in this room will guide you, help and assist you on your work and your worries. You got this Doyoung and all of us knew how well you will be doing tomorrow and the rest of the decade. C'mmon now, show the whole realm who's boss and how capable you are, love."
Doyoung, who's hyperventilating across the room, finds himself to calm down on your words, though it's embarrassing for everyone to hear your thoughts and to see him nervous, he barely cares after your encouragement. He lets out a long sigh and composes himself together, murmuring that he didn't want throwing Ten up to the sky agenda to be such a waste. He was sort of thankful that Ten was being annoying as usual for him to be mad to the point he threw him after so long, though it was bad to do so, Ten somewhat deserved it.
"Hyung, relax, stop gripping onto the curtains for hell's sake, those are expensive!"
The vampire tilted his head to face the special dhampir and rolled his eyes. "Since when did you care about stuff in this realm, Jung?"
"Ah right now, since I'm officially taking your spot at work?"
Doyoung and Jaehyun glare at one another, their piercing eyes darting to each other's souls, tension rising quickly between the two. The two males facing one another with disgust, in the very urge to argue at the very moment. Before the two could even throw fist and cause a ruckus, a Na meddled between the two to stop them from embarrassing themselves, rolling his eyes in dismay that he will work with them from now on.
"If anything, I should be the one nervous here since I barely knew anything from the corp." The Na hisses between the two males, eyes narrowed at how childish the two are right now despite being centuries older than him.
"Well we all start from scratch nana," the Kim says nonchalantly, as if he didn't have plans to annihilate a competitive Jung beside him. He clears his throat and fix his shirt, slightly closing his eyes for a brief moment before opening them to look at the younger. "And besides you have Jaehyun to teach you all the basic information you need on your job, since Jaehyun used to have it before. Well, inform me if he isn't doing his task to guide you so that I can finally have the power to fire his flat ass once and for all."
And of course, Jaehyun has to argue back. "Firing me will be the biggest loss you'll have and it would be so idiotic for you to do such act Mr. Kim. Don't let personal grudges be in the line of work, that's very impolite and unprofessional mannerism for you to do Kim Dongyoung."
Jaemin, who's trying to listen to the actual ceremony, gritted his teeth in frustration at how the two olders were still arguing. And it was starting to mess with his nerves. "I swear to dracula if you two won't stop your petty argument, I won't hesitate to call y/n noona on this stage."
"Says the one who fell in love with my wife when literally, she's your sister Jaemin." The vampire reiterates with sass, earning a laugh from a Jung but he was still mad at him for no valid reason. Doyoung then apologizes when the Na was indeed serious on calling you, the vampire almost panicking and beg for Jaemin to calm down.
The three became quiet as they listened to the ceremony proper, well the first two were actually paying attention while a vampire seemed to zone out from his place. The vampire took the time to digest what is
