MIN WOKE UP to an unfamiliar warmth wrapped around her body, a soft breath hitting her neck. memories of the hours before they got to where they are now made it's way back into her head as she felt a surge of warmth wash over her heart. it was a different kind of warmth than she was used to. secure and peaceful.
she laid there for a little longer, liking the way jimin's arm was wrapped around her waist tightly, not wanting to risk it loosening by moving around, until she got uncomfortable being in the same position for so long.
min shifted her body slightly, turning over onto her right until she was laid on her back. she looked over at him, chuckling at the sight of his unruly hair. she reached her left hand over and attempted to fix it, smiling to herself while she did so, before she dropped her arm back onto her body.
she tried processing her current situation. just a few hours ago, min was a single woman. well, i mean, she still is, but she isn't exactly up for grabs anymore, either. because jimin had finally kissed her. or rather, she kissed him first, she smirked to herself.
it was crazy how she was so sure that she'd never be able to fully be in love, and here she was, with a man she was sure was sent from heaven, who had been ready to risk it all to be together. maybe her dad had sent him.
jimin's eyes slowly started opening, pulling min out of her thoughts. the first thing his eyes met when they were fully awake were hers. he must have been processing the same information, too, because he didn't say anything for a while. min watched his eyes scan her entire room, taking in that he had, in fact, never left her apartment last night. his focus landed on his arm that was wrapped around her waist. min watched as his eyes lit up at that, before his finally met hers.
"morning." he smiled sleepily.
"good morning." she replied more cheerily than he did. jimin took advantage of the arm that was around her waist and used it to turn her body over until she was facing him. another silence took over them as they tried to figure out what to say.
"so," min spoke after a pause, "i think we should discuss the obvious elephant in the room."
"and what would that be?" he asked, as if he didn't already know.
"oh, i don't knowโ maybe the way your arm is wrapped around my waist right now?" she sarcastically replied, "or the fact that you kissed meโ or, actually, i kissed you because you were too scared to actually initiate it yourself, and now you suddenly have the guts to wrap your arm around me and pretend you've been like this alโ"
min was interrupted by a light kiss being placed on her lips. she looked at him, stunned, her eyes widened slightly. he pulled away, slightly stunned at his own actions, too, but he kept his composure. "there," he started, his cheeks slightly pink, "i initiated it this time."
"why'd you do that?" min chuckled, still flustered.
"...i don't know," he replied after a pause. "it just felt right."
it just felt right.
min stared into his eyes a little longer, searching for any hints of mockery or uncertainty. but all she could find in those soft monolids of his was genuine care and affection. something she hadn't seen or felt in a long time. it was mesmerizing to look at: it was like all the answers to every question he's ever had were there, perfectly aligned in his eyes.
it was silent for a few beats longer before min smiled softly in acknowledgement, deciding not to say anything just yet. turning away from him, she laid on her back, crossing her arms over her chest as she tried organizing her thoughts once again. jimin stared at her in curiosity, watching as her expression became unreadable. she did that a lot, he'd noticed, whenever she was deep in thought. it was always impossible to tell what was going through her head, but it was the little details like these that were what intrigued him the most about her.
"jimin," min finally began, his ears perking up at his name. he hummed in acknowledgment and waited for her to continue. after another beat of silence, she turned to look at him, surprising jimin with the exasperated look on her face.
"i need you to tell me how you feel," she sighed, "and what you want. you already know what i want." she said, referring to last night.
"but i just kissed you a few seconds ago..?" he recalled, sort of confused.
"no, that was in the spur of the moment. i need to hear it."
he immediately caught onto the change of her tone. "are you alright?" he asked in concern, his tone soft. min closed her mouth and sighed, looking back up at the ceiling. jimin watched as she closed her eyes and took slow, deep breaths, her expression becoming unreadable once more. and when she opened her eyes again, she looked so tired, so conflicted. she sat up in bed, unable to stay still for too long.
"i just don't want to get hurt again."
jimin slightly frowned. this must have been what she was thinking about last night. before he could intervene, she continued. "and i know that you just had your big break a year ago, and i don't want our potential relationship to get in the way of that." she finished. it was jimin's turn to stay silent, but not long before he got up as well, moving so that he was in front of her.
"eun, look at me." he told her. when she reluctantly made eye contact with him, he continued. "even though i didn't kiss you first last night, you have no idea how badly i wanted to. i've wanted to since i've gotten to know you. but i just didn't want to pressure you into doing something you didn't want to," she broke eye contact with him, but he continued, "but now that i know that you're also willing to give us a try, eun, you have no idea how happy i am right now," he laughed softly, "and we should definitely be thinking this through more, but right now, i just want to be with you."
"do i need to kiss you again to prove it?" he laughed slightly, "cause i'll do it." and it was true. he'd do it again and again until she understood that he was being serious.
but she looked at him, smiling slightly.
"are you sure about this?" she asked him one final time.
he looked into her eyes, making sure she understood that he would mean every single word he was about to say. "i've never been more sure of anything in my life."
min's smile only continued to grow by the second, which made jimin's heart do that little fluttering thing it did whenever she did anything remotely cute.
"okay. alright. cool. awesome." she mumbled mainly to herself, not really knowing what else to say, making jimin laugh. moving closer, he wrapped his arms over her shoulders and simply held her. not thinking about what they'd do afterwards, how they'd tell their management, or his group members. just enjoying each other's company, embracing the moment of pure affection. min could get used to this, being loved.
maybe it hadn't been that he held the answers to all his questions in his eyes, but had been holding it in his arms.

MIN HAD ALWAYS BEEN a little suspicious over how well jimin had handled the hate in the beginning.
min was a month into her hiatus. and honestly, she was glad she took it. reluctant at first, but thankful nonetheless. she'd completely gone off of all social media, and had been spending all this time at her apartment, with the occasional strolls and lunch dates, to avoid paparazzi as much as she could. she still had her bad days, but she always had people in her life who'd help her through anything, one of those people being jimin.
but she couldn't help but wonder how well he really was handling it, too. he always put on a strong figure for her, but min knew better. just because she was the one who went on hiatus didn't mean he didn't receive any hate, either. she knew how sensitive he could be, and sometimes was worried that he was going through the same amount of hate without telling anyone. the last thing she wanted for him was to be handling something like this alone.
min heard the lock to her apartment turn before it opened a second later. looking up from her position on the couch, she watched jimin's tired form slowly take off his shoes, dropping all his bags onto the floor. she'd scold him for that later, she thought, but for now, she just wanted to spend time with him.
"hey, love," min called him over, "i'm in the living room."
jimin tiredly smiled at the sound of her voice. he made his way over to the room, smiling wider at the sight of her small figure engulfed in the throw blankets. in his opinion, honestly, it was so much more appealing seeing her in a natural, unkempt state than dressed up for a red carpet. it's not that he didn't like seeing her all dressed up, not at all. but because in this state, she was only for his eyes to see. it was refreshing to see her being unproductive for once, being able to do something other than work and read comments all day for a change. he wished he could say the same.
"hey angel," he slurred slightly, dropping himself onto the couch and immediately latching himself onto her, min laughing as he did so.
"how was your day?" she asked him, feeding him noodles that she'd made not long before he arrived.
he sighed, slowly munching on the noodles. "honestly, could've been better," he closed his eyes, leaning against her chest, "a lot happened. it's just been a long day. but it's fine, i'm here now." he tried to smile at her.
"oh, that's a shame," she frowned slightly, "are you alright?"
there was a short pause before jimin nodded his head. "of course i am. i'm just tired."
min was a little suspicious at the silence, but she decided to drop it for now, letting him get the rest he needed. for the next few minutes, they stayed in that position, silently watching the tv and enjoying each other's presence.
from off to the side, min heard a small ping come from her phone. turning away from the tv, she unlocked her phone, confused to see a message from namjoon. as she kept reading, however, her suspicion and worry only grew tenfold.
โคท messages โ joon:
hey maya, don't know if jimin has already gotten to your apartment or not, but he seemed off the entire day. there must've been something on his mind, but he always shrugged it off whenever we asked what was wrong.
โคท messages โ joon:
i'm sorry for messaging you like this when you should be on break, but try talking to him for us, please, he might talk to you. thanks.
min looked over at jimin, who was still watching the show. she noticed how he didn't really look fully into it, like his mind was elsewhere. even his hold on her, she hadn't noticed until now, was loose, when it would usually be tighter.
"jimin," she started, growing worried, "what's wrong?" her frown only deepened when he shook his head, lifting himself off her body and sitting upright, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. she realized he was trembling.
she called his name out again, grabbing the remote and pausing the show they were watching. when he didn't look at her, she moved from his side, swinging her leg over both of his so she'd be seated on his lap. she lifted his face up so he'd be looking at her, her brows furrowing immensely at the sight of his freshly reddened eyes and the dark circles underneath them. she stared at him, frowning for a while. jimin was prepared to be bombarded with questions, but when she slowly dropped her hands from his face and over his shoulders, embracing him in a warm hug, he couldn't help but be taken aback.
"you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, i understand," she told him, "but just let me be here for you, jimin."
min was never that good with affection. so when it came to comforting people, her words and presence were usually enough. she wasn't the kind of person that told you to stop crying, but let you, because she understood it was better to let it out than to suck it up. so the gesture, along with her words, were so sudden and genuine, jimin felt his walls that he spent so long building up come crumbling down. with each second that passed where she held him and each circle of her finger on his arm, the cracks grew longer and weaker.
but like a dam filled with too much water, his walls rendered useless. his tears began to overflow out of the dam he called his eyelids, and the walls came crashing down.
she didn't say anything as he wrapped his arms around her and cried. even as her shoulder became drenched with his tears and her circulation was practically cut off by how tightly he was holding onto her, she still stayed silent, letting him cry all of his frustration out. min's heart broke with each shake and sob that tore out of the boy.
"i'm sorry," jimin sniffled after a while, "i really didn't want to cry in front of you."
"it's alright, jimin." min purred out, rubbing his back, "do you want to tell me what's upsetting you?"
min felt him nod, so she sat straight up again. she wiped his tears as she gave him time to compose himself, making his heart swell with how intently she waited for him to speak. jimin had no idea how she'd managed to find every bit of patience with him. it was one of her most admirable qualities; she could sit with someone for hours on end without a single word coming out of her mouth, listening to someone talk all of their worries and frustrations out, without a single interruption or judgment pointed at them.
and as an added bonus, she always gave the best advice. it was honest, sometimes painfully, but it was what they needed to hear. everything she did was always for the best in the long run. to jimin, she was always putting others before herself so selflessly, and maybe that's why he didn't tell her what was bothering him. for once, he wanted to be the person who was strong for her, the person she could confide in, and learn to handle something on his own for a change.
the truth is, min found out as he told her, the hate truly had gotten to him. he never told her though, because he felt it was unfair to compare the amount of hate he'd gotten compared to hers. comments telling him he wasn't enough for her, that she'd just decided to settle for less, constantly tore him down, tiring him out all day and keeping him up at night. he ignored them the best he could, but when he's dating the woman who's been named the nation's beyoncรฉ, the nation's superstar, then can he help but think she really could do better than him?
min sighed as he finished his confession.
"jimin," she told him, "you should know better than anyone that i am just as much of a human as i am an idol." she moved her hands up from his shoulders onto his face, gently guiding them until he looked at her. "i'd love you no matter what, you should never forget that. please don't ever doubt that, it hurts me to think you think i'm not with you because of who you are." she gave him a pained smile, jimin feeling the guilt eating him alive. "i'm not planning on leaving you, ever."
"to hell and back and back again. isn't that what you told me?" she asked him, smiling as he smiled softly at that.
she reflected on everything else he said and sighed again, dropping her hands onto her lap. "and you can tell me these things, alright? you can tell me when something is bothering you. i'd want nothing more, actually." she told him as he nodded.
"you getting any more or less hate than me doesn't matter in the slightest. jimin, your feelings aren't invalid just because you struggle less than others, it never has. we're all going through something, and you also deserve to have someone to confide in, not just me." she waited for a bit, considering her next words carefully. she knew how sensitive of a topic this was to him, and she wanted to make sure he'd understand and take her advice to heart.
she looked him in the eyes once more, holding every bit of intent and care in them.
"i don't need you to be strong for me, i need you to be strong for yourself." she smiled sadly, "promise me. promise that you'll be your own light in your life, jimin." she held up her pinky finger to him. "focus more on making yourself happy, please."
he looked up at her, smiling softly at the sincerity of her words,
