it was a few weeks after paisley and the triplets found out about her cancer. unlike the triplets, paisley went on with her everyday life as if nothing ever happened.

matt was obviously doing the same but he was extremely worried for paisley. any chance he got, he slyly slipped in talks of medicine and treatment in hopes it would change his girlfriend's mind on them.

paisley wasn't an idiot. she knew what he was doing and she loved him for trying.

chris was clingier towards paisley more than usual. not that it bothered paisley and matt. matt understood why and let chris be. paisley was the same.

chris was scared. terrified, even. he was scared that paisley, his sister, would be ripped away from him at any given moment.

nick. now, nick was hard to read. he always has been. but obviously something in him changed that day when he found out. he was quieter and nicer to everyone. even when his brothers act stupid during car videos or when chris does something that pisses him off.

it's no secret that it hit him hard. it hit all of them hard. chris was the only one who actually knew how hard it hit nick.

one night it all hit nick. sooner or later, him and chris were both going to lose their sister. matt was going to lose his first girlfriend, his bestfriend, and the love of his life. nick broke down crying because the pain of it all was coming, he just knew it. what nick didnt know was that chris was outside his door listening in with tears of his own.

paisley had told madi and nate before she told marylou and jimmy. just like the triplets, the two friends were heartbroken which lead to them both crying on the spot.

marylou and jimmy were who she was planning on telling today since they have been in la the past week. it was probably best to tell them now because the married couple could tell something was off between the four housemates whenever they went to visit.

paisley was sitting on the couch across from marylou and jimmy. matt was on her left and chris was on her right with nick was sitting on the right of chris.

"so uh. i dont know how to say this." matt put his hand on paisley's bouncing leg and chris held paisley's fidgeting hands. nick leaned back and reached over to put his hand on her shoulder. that was their way of telling paisley that she could do it and if not, they were all there for her.

"i have cancer and i dont want to go through with treatment." paisley ripped the bandaid off and waited for a reaction from the couple she had grown to see as her parents.

marylou scanned paisley's face for any sign that she was lying. there was none. she then looked at her son's faces to see their reactions. the triplets were also searching for their parents reactions.

realizing that paisley was telling the truth, marylou let the tears fall. this is real life. lher babygirl had cancer and there was nothing they could do to stop it.

jimmy held his wife as she sobbed in his arms. "pea, are you sure?" paisley nodded.

marylou stood up and walked towards paisley who also stood up. "pea."

pea was the nickname marylou gave paisley as a child after she realized that paisley's favorite bedtime story was princess and the pea.

"i may not like how you're not going to go through with treatment, but i understand that you have a reason as to why and im going to respect that." paisley hugged the shorter woman with tears in her eyes.

the rest of the night was spent at the house  reminiscing about the past, ignoring the talk of the future.

one conversation stuck with matt. he overheard paisley and his mom talking about paisley's bucket list. the part of that conversation that stuck with him was paisley want a kid.

"do you have a bucket list, pea?" marylou asked from the barstools as paisley raided the pantry.

matt was about to walk into the kitchen to grab a drink but stopped as he heard his mom speak, feeling as if this was a conversation that he shouldn't interrupt.

paisley turned around with snacks in her hand and placed them on the counter before turning to raid the fridge.

"of course i do. who doesn't."

marylou nodded at the luna girl before speaking up again. "what's the biggest thing on your list?"

paisley turned around with a frown on her face as she handed marylou a water.

"have a kid. i want to have a kid but obviously thats not going to happen." paisley frowned.

marylou sighed as she noticed tears brewing in her daughter's eyes.

matt was laying in bed watching a movie either paisley, who laid on his chest.

"can i see your bucket list?" matt asked. paisley shot up and turned to look at her boyfriend.

"yes but how much of that conversation did you hear?" she said as she got up and grabbed a shoe box off of the shelf in her shared closet.

matt smiled as she sat back down. "all of it."

"matt, im-" paisley was cut off by matt who grabbed her chin so she was looking at him instead of the shoe box in her lap.

"i want kids, too. after we talked and had the pregnancy scare." matt sighed as before he continued. "it made me realize that i want kids. more specifically, with you."

the tears running down my paisley's face made her realize that she was crying. matt wiped the tears with his thumbs before paisley leaned in for a hug. she sobbed into matt's chest as he held her and rubbed her back in comfort.

"i can't, matt." paisley sobbed.

"i know, baby. i know. but there are other options, moon." matt pulled paisley away from his chest to look her in the eyes as he spoke.

"adoption is easier and quicker." matt spoke softly with a gleam of hope in his eyes.

paisley smiled at him. "do you wanna-" she was cut off by matt leaning in and kissing her.

"yes, moon. i want to adopt a kid with you."

that conversation led to a sleepless night of research on the best adoption agencies and what is need to raise a child.

all throughout the night, the only thought that was going through matt's and paisley's head that they were finally going to have their own little family together. even in the worst circumstances, they got to live out their dreams with each other and thats all that mattered.
