— chapter 11 —

fireworks.

as the girls eyes had fluttered open the sight of the sun peeking into the room had come to sight.

shifting slightly y/n had come eye to eye with the beautiful sleeping figure who's eyes were still shut.

she couldn't help but admire akaashi's sleeping figure. the way his black hair had messily covered his forehead. a few strands popping up. the soft expression he held as he took light breaths it hitting her face softly.

he looked perfect in her eyes.

a small smile had etched on her lips at the sight as y/n brought a hand up to his hair combing through it gently.

his hair felt like she was brushing through a cloud if that made sense, fluffy and soft.

she continued to do so as a soft smile later on her lips content of how she was feeling.

euphoria. a feeling of intense excitement and happiness.

the girl had been so caught up in the moment her body flinching as a raspy voice spoke up.

"good morning gorgeous," akaashi mumbled quietly his eyes still shut as he heard the girl squeak in fear stopping herself from brushing through his black locks.

slowly opening his eyes the setter is met with his blushing girlfirend who's eyes had went wide at the small grin he held.

his eyes flickered to her hand to which y/n noticed about to move it away but he only grabbed it back a small smile on his face.

"you don't need to stop i like it," keiji said in a bold tone as he gave her a light kiss on the forehead.

y/n only let out a small huff in response as she tried to cool herself down before continuing her actions.

"how are you feeling?"

"i'm feeling alright. haven't moved yet though," she let out a small chuckle her eyes still fixated on his hair.

"di—did you enjoy last night?" he mumbled with a nervous tone as he himself began to fluster up.

it had been the couples first time doing it together so he hadn't known if she had enjoyed it or not.

"of course i did keiji," y/n laughed at his nervousness. "anything i do with you always makes my heart flutter," she moved her hand away from his hair patting his head playfully.

akaashi couldn't help but now turn a deep shade of red at her comment a small smile delicately placed on his face.

all he could do was snuggle into her in a deeper embrace letting out a satisfied breath in response.

the two then enjoyed the moment with a comfortable silence airing in the room for a few minutes. that is till y/n had moved akaashi's gaze moving from the ceiling to her.

"i have to go take my medication i'll be right back," y/n tried moving out of his embrace but it was no avail as that only caused the setter to hold onto her tighter.

what had surprised the girl was when she had noticed a small pout playing on his lips her heart warming in adoration.

as cute as keiji had looked in the moment y/n couldn't help but bring her hand to his cheek pinching him softly. "i'll be quick i promise."

letting out an intent sigh in response akaashi gave her a small peck on the lips before she grabbed one of the blankets wrapping it around her body.

it only took one step on the cold floor before the girl had stumbled nearly falling to the ground as if her legs had just given up on her.

"you alright?" akaashi's voice laced with one of concern as y/n straightened up her cheeks flushed red. "i didn't go too rough on you did i?" a mischievous smirk curved onto the boys lips as he noticed her blushing face.

"i—ugh never mind!" y/n huffed out before walking, no limping towards the bathroom with her bag.

truth be told, y/n had been in pain because of how sore she was from walking for hours yesterday.

her body hadn't been able to take in walking for that long as it how gotten a lot weaker.

closing the washroom door the girl quickly placed her hands on the counter letting out a relieved sigh as she transferred her weight.

y/n didn't want to worry akaashi of the pain she had been in only cascading so underneath a smile.

so forth she also took pain reliever pills that her doctor had prescribed in attempts of helping out.

now as for akaashi on the other hand he had only stared at the door as if almost trying to decipher how y/n had felt as he changed into clothes.

he hadn't thought that he went too far last night to which he could only conclude that she had been in pain because of her sore limbs from yesterday.

thoughts continued to ponder in his mind till the noise of coughing had sounded in his ears from the bathroom. the setter was quick to rush towards the door knocking it impatiently.

"hey y/n are you alright?" keiji asked worry laced in his tone as he waited for his girlfriend to respond.

at the sound of his voice y/n immediately stopped her coughing fit trying her best to stop herself.

she glanced from the door to the sink, red being the only visible colour in her eyes.

y/n could only stare at the view in front of her in pure shock and disgust her heart dropping in an instant.

"i'm coming in," were the words that brought her back to reality as the noise of the doorknob being twisted sounded in her ears.

with little time the girl quickly turned on the tap the blood slowly washing away hoping that it would disappear before akaashi had entered.

snapping her sight to the boy who now stood in front of her he held an intense gaze that terrified her to say the least.

she would describe such a look that she noticed akaashi would have whenever playing volleyball.

it looked almost as if he was analyzing her in hopes of breaking down all her thoughts.

"i'm alright keiji just something stuck in my throat," she sent him reassuring yet nervous smile in hopes that he would believe her.

the setter only kept his eyes locked on hers before setting upon the running water. he slowly took a step towards her, y/n sweat dropping at the action as he neared the sink.

akaashi then brought his hand out past her shoulder turning off the tap a weight being lifted off of the girl as he moved back afterwords.

that's all that had happen between the two as they decided to get ready for the day an unknown tension in the air as secrets had been kept between one another.

"so what are we doing today?" y/n spoke as the couple was eating brunch at a local cafe.

as they had woken up quite late the two felt as if it was better to eat a big meal now so that they wouldn't be hungry for some time.

"well there's actually a festival happening here in kyoto today so i was thinking that we could spend the day there," akaashi sipped on his tea before placing it on the table. "apparently there's a firework show in the end so i also thought we could watch it if that's alright with you?"

"yup that's fine with me, all that matters is that we're together," y/n gave the boy a big thumbs up to which he couldn't help but chuckle at.

y/n always had a way of easing tension whenever it would be built between the couple no matter what situation.

these were one of those moments the two feeling a big weight lifted off their shoulders as they finished up their food before walking their way to the festival.

of course with how much neatly fitted of a city kyoto was it wasn't a surprise to see the area of the festival being beautifully done.

many lanterns and fairy lights lit up the area, it quite lively as many people filled up playing games and enjoying the different architecture around.

"wow whoever coordinated this festival did an amazing job," y/n exclaimed as her eyes wandered around the scenery.

"yeah they sure did," akaashi agreed his own eyes stunned at what was before him before turning to the girl who had her arm latched onto his. "so what do you want to do first?"

"hmm—" she put a finger to her chin tapping it playfully in thought. "let's just walk around then we can play some games if you'd like."

nodding in response what the two did so admiring and taking photos every once in a while as they spoke about how it differentiated for a festival in tokyo.

but something akaashi had noticed was his girlfriends eyes set upon an owl plushie that had been hanging on the side at one of the games.

they gleamed with such adoration akaashi already knowing what he was going to do.

"i have to go to the washroom i'll be right back," she tapped on his arm to which he turned her way nodding in response before loosening his hold on her as she skipped towards the door.

making sure that y/n had gotten there safetly the setter began his way towards the game his eyes still set on the prize.

"hi there!" the worker who had noticed akaashi approaching her gave him a small smile. "are you interested in playing?"

the setter only nodded in response waiting for her to explain the rules to him.

to which after doing so he handed her money before taking the baseballs to knock down the cans in front of him.

being an athlete that had such precession and strength akaashi was able to knock down the cans with ease stunning the worker as it had been the best she had seen all day.

"wow that was amazing!" her eyes gleamed with shock before reaching up to grab the familiar owl plushy. "i know that you wanted to get the prize for the girl you were with as i noticed her eyes on it, so here you go!"

at her words his eyes widened before a small thanks before as he took it out of her hands.

as if on cue y/n had come out of the bathroom walking towards the boy who quickly hid the prize behind meeting her in the middle.

"watcha got there keiji?" her eyebrows furrowed trying to peak at what was behind the setter but he only moved it further behind him.

"close your eyes."

"close my eyes?" she tilted her head even more confused before obliging to his words her eyes screwing shut.

"put your hands out in front of you," he commanded to which she did so a playful smile on her lips.

placing the soft object in her hands y/n's eyebrows perked up before snapping her eyes open to notice the cute owl stuffed toy in her hands. "i—how did you know?!"

"it's pretty obvious that you wanted it as i noticed you eyeing the toy every other second," akaashi laughed as he smiled at her happy expression.

"it wasn't that obvious!" she pouted.

"y/n—even the worker noticed," the setter deadpanned.

"okay maybe it was obvious," she puffs her cheeks out in embarrassment. "but thank you so much," y/n went on her tippy toes placing a soft kiss on his cheek his face heating up at the public affection.

"you're welcome," akaashi mumbled response as she grabbed his hand in hers pulling him along with her.

"let's go find a nice spot to see the fireworks!" she turned around giving him a warm smile before leading him to the park that was located at the end point of the festival.

able to find a spot in the grassy area the couple situated themselves, y/n laying her head on akaashi's shoulders as per usual as he wrapped his arm around her waist to bring her closer.

the two watched in amazement as the beautifully coloured fireworks filled the dark sky, both of their eyes gleaming with the colours.

"i'm really happy that you came with me on this trip keiji," y/n spoke up softly tilting her head to look at her boyfriend. "this really was the best two days i've had in a while and it's all thanks to you."

shifting his gaze to hers he took in the expression that his girlfriend wore. one full of love and happiness.

"i'm glad that i joined you because i couldn't have imagined anyone better to go here and be with in this moment," he voiced leaning down to set a warm kiss on her lips.

the noise of the fireworks shooting, the cold breeze that brushed against their skin, it was the most movie like scene the couple had.

but as perfect as it had sounded in their minds, it was only covering them from the harsh reality that was yet to come.
