Flashback
"NO WAY YOU'LL CATCH ME!" FOUR BEST FRIENDS SOAKING WET IN THEIR BATHING SUITS were in the backyard of Elisa's house. The four kids had begged their parents for them to have another sleepover this time, at Elisa's place. Kevin, Joe, Nick, and Elisa were running around in the backyard in their bathing suits since they were in the pool.
Elisa continued to run until Nick managed to catch her by wrapping his arms around her, causing the girl to squeal with laughter, sending butterflies into her stomach then, Joe and Kevin collided with the two, sending the four falling into the pool. They came up for air and started splashing each other as they swam around in the pool, laughing. The four of them never noticed that their mothers, Denise and Rosalina were sitting at the outdoor table, chatting and watching the kids while their fathers, Ricky and Paul were at the grill, making their lunch; they were too busy having fun to notice.
"They sure are close, really close," Denise said, smiling.
"Yeah, they are. They're gonna have fun tonight," Rosalina said, smiling and Denise agreed.
After a while of splashing each other, Luke came out from the shred with enough water guns for them and they all decided to wet Emma, who was busy getting a tan. They all tiptoed over to Emma and aimed their water guns at her, firing as water was squirted at her. Emma let out a shriek, getting the attention of their parents as they looked over to see to see Luke, Joe, Kevin, Nick, and Elisa laughing as they jumped into the pool.
Emma let out another shriek as she got splashed with water again as they jumped into the pool, she scoffed at them laughing before she grabbed one of the water guns on the gun and started firing water at them. A full-on water fight was then happening and the next thing that the adults knew was that the children had teamed up and started spraying them, getting them all wet.
After a lunch break and hanging out in the backyard a bit more, Denise and Paul say bye to their sons and within Elisa's bedroom was the four of them making a pillow fort for their sleepover party. Their plan was to make a pillow fort for them with their sleeping bags inside and hopefully, they can try to stay up. Kevin had placed the last pillow of their fort while Joe, Nick, and Elisa placed a blanket over their fort as a roof before they all crawled inside the fort, dragging their sleeping bags inside.
Present
The warm sun shined down in the backyard of Elisa's and Nick's house. It was quiet and peaceful as Elisa was trying to get a tan with a soft smile on her face. But the silence was over when she was squirted with water and knowing exactly who did it, she opened her eyes with a smirk.
"Oh, you're so gonna get it now," Elisa smirked as she grabbed a water gun and started firing water at them. Laughter filled the area as a water fight was going on, making it feel like they were kids again as they were running around, squirting each other with water. Nick had placed down his water gun for a second and managed to wrap his arms around his fiancรฉ, causing her to squeal with laughter while Joe and Kevin suddenly collided with them, sending the four of them falling into the pool.
They all swam up for air and with one look, they suddenly started splashing each other, laughing. It felt like old times again and they could definitely feel their broken relationship mending again. What felt like hours splashing each other and laughing, they eventually got dried off and during the afternoon, they all decided to head to the fair that their parents took them to when they were kids.
While they were there, Joe and Kevin decided that the four of them all go on love boat ride since they felt guilty that they weren't there to help out their little brother with proposing to Elisa. They waited in line and soon, it was their turn as they got in and the ride started. As the ride went on, Nick and Elisa told Joe and Kevin how Nick proposed to her.
"Damn, bro. Who knew you were romantic," Kevin said.
Nick shrugged and smirked, placing an arm around Elisa's shoulder. "Another hidden talent," he said.
Joe smirked and chuckled, "If you two are gonna kiss, then do it."
Elisa and Nick looked at each other and leaned in, their lips connecting in a kiss. Joe and Kevin smirked at them as the engaged couple pulled away with faint blushes on their faces; they were together and yet, they still blush around each other. Joe smirked and wiggled his eyebrows at them, already suggesting something for them to do, making them blush harder while Kevin snorted at his younger brother.
"You're so dirty, bro," Kevin laughed.
Joe smirked. "All I'm saying is it's about time you two got together,"
The four of them were then sent into laughter. After the ride and hanging around the fair for a bit more, they decided to head on back to the house where they were now recreating the pillow fort from when they were younger. At least, they were trying to since it's been a while since they last made it.
"Are we sure we're doing this right?" Elisa asked.
Joe smirked, "Let's see,"
He grabbed a pillow and threw it at Nick with a cocky smirk.
"You're on," Nick smirked, throwing his own pillow at Joe.
A pillow fight then started in the house as the four of them were acting like the little kids they were back in the old days. It's funny; they were adults now but at heart, they were still the little kids from their childhood. And that was never gonna change. Soon, they were all lying on the ground with pillows surrounding them after their huge pillow fight, catching their breaths after what felt like hours of doing this and Elisa snuggled into Nick's side who held her close in his arms.
"This was fun, like the old days," Kevin finally said, catching his breath after hours of laughing during the pillow fight.
"Yeah, I miss this," Elisa said honestly, Nick and Joe nodded in agreement. "I mean, we went through a lot just to end things like that."
"Eli's right. We did everything together and through the good and the bad, we stuck together. How was it different when the band broke up?" Joe said.
"I regret doing what I did. If I could go back, I'd take it back." Nick said, staring up at the roof from where he laid on the ground with Elisa in his arms.
The break up was hard on all of them and it almost tore them apart. But they came through and in the end, their relationship would be stronger. It was like they needed the break up to happen for them to get a different perspective on relationships and for them to realize how important that relationship truly is.
"But if we're being honestly with each other, then let's admit that maybe this break up needed to happen so we can get to this point." Elisa says honestly, staring up at the roof from where she laid on the ground in Nick's arms.
Kevin nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we all needed that different perspective on things."
Nick nodded. "I miss performing with you guys,"
Elisa nodded, memories of when they were younger and performing together filled her head. "I do too."
"Me too," Kevin agreed.
The three of them looked over at Joe, knowing that the break up was the hardest on him but they wanted to know if he missed it too.
Joe smiled softly, staring up at the roof. "I do too. Honestly, I've always missed it, I missed you guys too."
Elisa smiled and even though they were laying on the ground in a circle, she brought her hand into the middle as if they were making a promise.
"Everyone in?" She asked softly.
"I'm in," Joe smiled softly, bringing his hand to the middle to join hers.
Nick was the next one to bring his hand into the middle. "So am I."
"Me too." Kevin said, bringing his hand into the middle.
The band break up nearly tore them apart, but they came back and their relationship was even stronger. In reality, they were adults but within in their hearts, they were four kids that were the best of friends. And that was something that couldn't be taken away from them no matter what happened because they'll always find their way back.
