CHAPTER FIVE

" I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T DO PRANKS, SABRINA DARLING. "

After the fiasco that was the football players, Sabrina asked Jocasta for one more favor. To scare her backwards principal to near death. Which was shocking to the young witch because Sabrina usually reprimands her for stuff like this.

"I mean, we can give him a glimpse of hell, if that's what you want." She said, mischievously. Making her eyes gleam scarlet for a moment.

Sabrina sighed. She wondered why she asked her to come along again. Because she's the best at this and I'm too chicken shit to do it by myself. Yeah . . . . That was the reason.

"I told you, I don't want to kill him. I want to scare him." She reminded her. "Besides, I can't have the blood on my hands."

"I can." Jocasta said, shrugging. "They say red is my signature color, anyway."

"You're an evil little witch, huh?" Ambrose spoke up, making his presence known to her.

She nearly forgot he was bounded to her home. She often forgets he can pop up anywhere he wanted. Or around the house, that is.

Jocasta turned to him with a slight pout gracing her lips. "Hey! I might be a chaotic Scorpio but sometimes, I have feelings and they can hurt."

Ambrose laughed a little. In all honesty, he liked having Jocasta around. She was very fun to talk to.

"I highly doubt it."

"Focus, you two!" Sabrina interrupted them. "Now, Ms. Wardwell told me that he was scared of spiders."

Jocasta took a seat next to Ambrose, listening to her halfling friend. She remembered that teacher from that failed double date a couple of nights ago. She as very pretty. If she didn't dress like someones grandmother.

"Are you sure you don't just want to scare him to death?" She asked again. "My aunt owns a mortuary. We can even make it look like a heart attack."

"Oooh, nice." Ambrose complimented, holding his hand up to her. She smiled, giving him a hi five.

"Nope, only temporary trauma." She denied, looking at his photo.

Jocasta huffed, crossing her arms. "Then what am I doing here?"

"Let's just start." She said, as the three sat in a make shift triad.

"Spider, O Spider, pray why do you spin your pretty web so fine and so thin? To catch fat flies and make them into pies." Ambrose recited first.

"Spider, O Spider, pray do you not see? Here comes a big, buzzing, blundering bee." Sabrina continued.

"He'll spoil your fine net while you fine and you fret, but no mercy you grant and no mercy you'll get." Jocasta finished.

After the spell was casted, there was a few seconds of silence between the three. But Jocasta broke it when she had to ask again.

". . . . I could still send him to his early grave, you know."

"Jocasta, no!" Sabrina, again, denied her.

"Jocasta, yes!" Ambrose said, smirking a little.

The next morning, Jocasta woke up early for school again. She got dressed in all black this time, feeling very much in a dark mood. Halloween was approaching and she couldn't be more excited.

It wasn't because of the costumes or the candy. It was because that night, there was going to be a full moon and she enjoyed spending her night looking at it.

She had a soft spot for the simple things in life and she loved to enjoy them from time to time. Something her and her father used to do when she was only a toddler. But the older she got, the more busy he became.

Not having enough time for his own kid, much less time to gaze at the moon and stars with her again. And as much as she didn't like to admit it, she missed those times. She tries to understand that he is a high priest so he would be busy but she still misses him daily.

Her mother, Lilian, has been good company, too. But she wishes she could have both parents around a lot.

"You seem troubled, mistress." Necalli interrupted her thought, as he slithered over her shoulders.

She didn't notice how long she had been sitting at her vanity mirror, staring at herself. If she didn't get a move on soon, her mother would think she's over sleeping.

"I'm fine, Necalli. . . . Just thinking." She mumbled, quickly applying pink gloss. "Halloween is coming soon for us."

"And you are not happy?" Necalli asked, lifting his head to look at her. His tongue wiggling ever now and then.

"I am, trust me." She promised, standing up from her chair. Necalli wrapped his body around her torso as she picked up her bag and walked out of the room. "I don't know. . . .am I doing the right thing about this? Trying to convince my best friend to convert?"

Necalli might be a familiar but he was always well aware of the things that flowed in his mistresses mind. He knew when she was conflicted about certain things and this was one of those moments.

"You're a caring friend, it's okay to feel this way, my mistress." He advised. "It means you have your humanity."

"Mmm." She hummed as she made her way down stairs.

Humanity. Most witches aren't supposed to have humanity in them. It was like a taboo within some covens and hers wasn't any different. The sad thing is, she couldn't remember the last time she was feeling human about anything.

She guesses it was easier to switch off emotions when it's been taught throughout one's life.

While Sabrina went on to go pumpkin picking with her boyfriend, Jocasta went to school. Which, again, nothing new.

She had friends but most of them would rather join Prudence's orgy than to hang with her. So they weren't really friends.

"Hello, hello, red witch." A voice called over to her as she closed her locker.

Jocasta turned to see Nicholas Scratch. The sluttiest warlock to walk this school. And sort of friend to her. That guy would probably sleep with anything and everything if he could.

But he was a good guy, underneath his cocky attitude.

"Well, hello, Nicky." She greeted, leaning on her locker, crossing her arms. "Funny, I didn't recognize you for a second. I thought you would for sure be somewhere screwing something."

Nicholas chuckled a little, leaning next to her. Always the spit fire, she was. He liked that. "I see you haven't changed much, huh? Although the black attire is very much new."

"I might love red but I know enough to know that red all the time is tacky." She reminded, tucking a piece of her back hair behind her ear. "What are you doing here, anyway? If this is about your offer for a threesome, I told you, I'm not trying to catch anything."

"No, no." He denied. "Not that. Your devil spawn friends would still have my head if I ask again. But I did come here to ask about your friend."

Jocasta straightened her posture, wondering why he would ask about her. Was this because of Prudence? What was he planning?

"What about her?" She shot back.

"You know the dark hour is upon us," he started, leaning on his arm. "You know everyone is counting on you to convince her, right?"

Jocasta rolled her eyes. She was already feeling conflicted about this entire thing and yet she didn't really do anything. She wanted her friend to be a witch with her. Think of the team up! They would be the baddest witch bitches in this academy.

But, she believed that she should choose for herself and not be influenced. Which was why she kept tabs on her.

"I swear, if another person ask me about this damned baptism, I am going to scream." She groaned out, causing him to laugh.

She was cute when she was stressed. Her face did this scrunching thing.

"So cute." Nicholas cooed, flicking his knuckle under her chin. "Just. . . .think about it, you know? Happy Halloween, by the way."

Jocasta allowed her lips to curve slightly into a one sided smirk as he walked past her. She watched him walk down the hall, slightly amused by him.

If he wasn't such a sex fiend, maybe the two of them could have been something.
