"That's why you can't let that slip away from your eyes for even a second. Not only will your life depend on it, but also your reputation amongst us, the hostages, and the world." The Professor talked as the gang sat around their breakfast table being quiet and silent the whole time he explained his stuff.
It was a lovely Thursday morning, the weather was nice and calm, and everyone was having their usual breakfast outside. The sun was nicely shining and there wasn't even a single strand of wind anywhere. It was as if the perfect weather for a birthday to be celebrated.
Guess you've already taken that hint so yes, it was finally London's birthday but it was her first, but certainly not the last, with the gang and since The Professor had told not to reveal any personal information or details about themselves, London stayed silent and didn't say a single word about it. Until now.
So when Sergio saw that when he finished talking no one was going to say anything, he nervously tried breaking the tension by connecting with everyone. "Does anyone want to share anything with everyone?"
London waited to see if anyone was going to speak up or say anything. But it was dead silent among them and she decided to end it with her casual reply as if it was nothing. "Well, today's my birthday."
Sergio's eyes went wide in an instant as he heard her share her information which he told her not to share. He didn't forget that today was her birthday though. No, he would never forget that and had some ideas in his head that were for something to give her for her birthday for a while now.
He simply didn't know if he should do that to her. He, of course, wanted to give something to her, she deserved it more than anyone else from the group. She had been working really hard and giving her all right from the beginning so he wanted to express his gratitude towards her someway.
But everyone quickly dropped their utensils on their plates as their eyes went wide and said "What?!" at the same time in disbelief. Then everyone started talking to London without a single stop as Sergio watched everything over thinking what should he do.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me." Tokyo laughed.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Nairobi covered her mouth.
"I think it's quite clear why." London laughed and looked at Sergio who had a very annoyed look on his face.
"Forget that!" Nairobi laughed. "How old are you turning?"
London hesitated to answer as she moved to look at Sergio who had an "I don't even know what to say about you" look. She felt as if she was letting him down, but fuck that now. So, London turned back at Nairobi with a smile. "I'm turning 23."
Everyone "woahed" since they couldn't believe she was of that age, she looked a lot younger. Which flattered her, of course.
"No way." Denver said in disbelief next to her on her right.
"Yes, way." London reassured him. "I'm actually 23 today."
"Well, then we gotta celebrate it, don't we?" Tokyo said as she raised her glass and stood up.
But Sergio quickly stood up also. "No, no." He looked around at everyone who had really disappointed looks that he was gonna ruin this. "London, may I speak with you for a moment?" He pointed at the house.
London looked at everyone and hesitantly stood up. "Sure?" She knew that she was about to get scolded and knew what was coming up. That didn't scare her though. The two walked away from the table and into the house in some room inside to have some privacy.
"Why would you share that with everyone, if you don't mind me asking?" Sergio said as he closed the door on their way in.
"'Cause I'm sick of hiding everything. Aren't you?" London lost her patience and asked him.
"No, I'm not." He replied sternly walking closer to her. "But you said that- do you even know how much commotion you caused? Do you even know what's gonna happen now?"
"Of course, you're looking at this only through the professional look." London scoffed. "We have all grown bonds between each other and now you expect for us to stay silent about these types of things?"
"You knew you couldn't disclose this information." Sergio replied. "I understand that you wanted to share it with everyone, but you could have told me you wanted to do it first and then you-"
"God, this is why I don't tell anyone nor you anything!" London cut him off with anger and frustration raging inside of her. "The only time that I actually do say something I get this shit. Why can't you just understand us for once?"
She pointed at him as the two stared at one another for a couple of seconds. London was as angry as ever but she controlled herself from raging on and ranting on him for more since she knew he wasn't worth it.
But Sergio was speechless. It was the first time she yelled at him like that and couldn't believe that he made her so upset on her birthday. So he stood there in silence regretting his decisions. They had a really close bond and loved one another.
But London stormed out of the room and across the hallway over to her room. Sergio shouted for her, but she didn't stop. She thought about slamming her door on her way in but thought that she's not so childish.
She ran her fingers through her hair as she collapsed on her bed trying to compose herself. "It's only 10 am and the day's already fucked up."

"So, what? You just yelled and scolded her thinking that was the best decision?" Nairobi asked Sergio as the two talked in the classroom. The Professor was preparing for the lessons but Nairobi wanted to find out what happened between him and London.
"I didn't yell nor did I scold her." He denied her accusations. "She broke the rules and-"
"You're telling me you're not aware that we have been celebrating our birthdays in silence every month and you had no idea?" Nairobi cut him off in disbelief thinking he's that clueless or dumb. Which he unfortunately was. Clueless but not dumb.
Sergio turned around at her in confusion. "Are you serious? You've actually been doing that in private this whole time?"
Nairobi scoffed and slapped her forehead with her hand. "You're unbelievable. Of course! But London wanted to share it with everyone and you should admire that. She trusts us. She trusts you. But it seems as if you're blind."
"I'm not blind, Nairobi." The Professor protested. "I just want for this to stay-"
"You want for this to stay professional and dull, don't you?" She cut him off once again with her intimidating look that could make anyone feel guilty. "Unfortunately, that won't happen. It hasn't happened like that."
As much as Sergio didn't want to admit it, Nairobi and London were both undeniably correct. But he just couldn't bring himself to the fact that he messed everything up just like that right from the beginning.
Nairobi sighed and crossed her arms on her chest. "We're now a new family. We all love each other more than you could ever imagine. So look at us as if we actually are one."
"I'm trying to do that." Sergio pointed at himself. "Doesn't it look like that?"
"No, no it doesn't!" She almost cut him off as she walked closer towards him. "You're looking and treating us like we're employees or something. How about you actually start changing your perspective and thinking more like us."
Sergio sighed out of frustration and fixed his glasses. "I created this group with the goal to-"
"To rob the Royal Mint, yes." Nairobi finished it for him. "But I guess this turned out different than you imagined, correct?"
Sergio uncomfortably looked away and avoided eye contact with her. "Maybe. But there's nothing we can do about it."
"But there is." Nairobi walked closer to him. "Treat us like you should. Treat London as you should. Just this once."

London sat in her room almost the rest of the day since The Professor had canceled the classes to "unfortunate and inconvenient causes" or as he said himself. Which wasn't a very bad thing since everyone had a nice day off.
But London tried pulling herself together for just a second but couldn't since the fact that this is the first birthday with these people and it's the first birthday which she is celebrating with someone together after a long time.
She tried understanding and coming to terms with reality- the reality that she was just gonna have to get over all of this- but it wasn't easy. As if it would be for anyone else in her place.
She sat in her bed, reading every single book she could find before Tokyo knocked on her door and walked inside with her hands behind her back. Tokyo smiled and laughed when she saw London, but London herself only faintly smiled. "Here's the birthday-"
"Don't bother, please." London cut her off-putting her book down and closing it. "You shouldn't be doing this for me either way-"
"Shut the hell up and let me finish, will you?" Tokyo cut her off with a fake serious look. The two women exchanged some funny glances before Tokyo pulled a simple but nice cupcake on a plate with one single candle and a heartwarming smile. "Happy birthday, London."
The candle was nicely lit and it made London very happy. "Aww." She put her hand on her chest and smiled at her gesture. It was extremely kind of Tokyo to do it for her and she loved it. Tokyo walked over to her and sat on the edge of her bed.
"I just wanted to wish you just something for you since you deserve it more than anyone else here." Tokyo began. "London, listen, you're the most badass, greatest, and smartest woman in the house that I know. You make every day so much fun and I don't think I could love another woman so much like you."
"Tokyo..." London sighed and smiled at all of this. She couldn't believe that she could do such a thing but here they are.
"So...happy birthday, London." She lifted the plate up and giggled. "I'm not gonna sing the song since that's gonna be hella awkward." London looked at the candle and smiled thinking of her wish. She closed her eyes and after a few seconds, she blew the candle.
Tokyo silently cheered and laughed. "What'd you wish for?"
"Unfortunately, I can't tell you that." London fake whispered. "But what I can tell you is that it probably won't come true until the end of the heist. Or life. Whichever comes first."
The two of them laughed at London's joke but then Tokyo gasped and took London's hands in hers. "I almost forgot: there's one more surprise for you."
"Oh, god." London sighed and titled her head. "I don't really like the sound of that."
"Well, you'll love it." Tokyo smiled as she stood up and pulled London up from her bed. The two walked out of London's room with Tokyo covering London's eyes with her hands.
"Tokyo, I'm gonna hit someone or something." London groaned as she held her hands in the front in the air hoping to feel it if she was coming closer.
"You won't." Tokyo reassured her. Finally, the two made it to the room without any fatal injuries. "Okay, you ready?" Tokyo asked with a bright smile.
"I don't think I ever was." London sighed in disappointment.
But Tokyo didn't show anything back to that answer, as if her question was rhetorical. She counted down from 3 to 1 and removed her hands as London slowly opened her eyes. And what she saw after that was heartwarming.
Sergio was standing next to the table quite nervous and tense. He looked as if he prepared this with dedication and love but was scared to see London's reaction to it knowing how they left each other the last time.
In the end, he decided that she deserves some recognition from him and hoped that the way he did it will make her happy.
On the table, there was a nice and absolutely delicious but small cake with the number 23 on top of it lit up. If you're wondering who helped to make it, it was the two other women in the household. There was also a nice present in a small box next to it and it was nicely wrapped with a bow.
London smiled and looked at everything in complete and utter shock. Sergio was relieved to see that she was happy as Tokyo backed away and gave a thumbs up for Sergio before walking out and leaving the two alone even though she stayed somewhere behind.
"Sergio..." London smiled and walked over to The Professor with her hand on her chest. She was stunned and delighted to see this.
"I-I wanted to apologize for before and..." The two locked eyes with each other for a second. "...wish you a happy birthday."
"You didn't have to, you know?" She replied with a chuckle as she finally stood right in front of him. "I forgive you, you didn't have to wear yourself out for this." She pointed at the table.
"You deserve this." Sergio almost cut her off and fixed his glasses after the two looked at each other. "And plus, I wanted to give you something after all."
"Aww." She half-fake awed and chuckled. "Well, I appreciate it. Really."
The two stood looking deep into each other's eyes for a couple of seconds before Sergio cleared his throat and fixed his glasses pointing at the table awkwardly. "I-I didn't do anything very grand or big, but I just hope that you like it."
He picked up the small cake in his hands as London giggled at the sight. It was so heartwarming and nice, despite the tense feeling in the air. "You don't need to sing. No one likes that." She giggled as Sergio also chuckled at her.
London smiled and took a couple of seconds to think of a wish, which was the second one of the day and the same one as before. She thought that if wishing for the same thing twice it would make the probability much bigger. Which is really made.
"May I ask you, what you wished for?" Sergio asked a lot more relaxed and calm.
"You know I can't tell you right?" She replied for the second time.
Then Sergio picked up the nice present which London was dying to find out what is. Not because she wanted more presents, but because it was being gifted by him. "It's not a big one, but...I hope you'll be satisfied."
London loved that even now he wouldn't let go of his nerdy and serious side. It made everything feel warmer, or at least for London. "I'm sure I'll be."
She took the present in her arms and started unwrapping it with guesses running in her mind about what could it be. When she opened it, she saw probably the most caring and thoughtful gift she has ever received.
Even though the gift didn't seem it would be this small from the outside, it didn't make the thought or view any worse. It was a beautifully and neatly crafted bracelet that had little beads hanging with letters spelling out her real name- Y/n- and not London.
"I-I wanted for you to feel as if you weren't forgetting your real name since we're now and will be going by our fake names as long as we're together." Sergio explained as London lifted the bracelet and looked at it.
"Oh, Sergio..." London chuckled as he smiled hearing his real name. "...it's beautiful. How did you do it?" She turned around so that her back was facing Sergio so that she could see it better from the light coming from the window.
Sergio leaned in as his head was even closer to London's. "I managed to craft it with Helsinki and Oslo's help. I didn't quite know what you wanted but I noticed that you were missing the old life and your real name."
London was examining the bracelet but after Sergio finished she turned around with a shocked look. She couldn't believe that he noticed such things about her. Neither the less, it made the gift even better. "So you listen to my complaints and pay attention?" She chuckled.
Sergio nervously fixed his glasses and smiled understanding she was joking. After a couple of seconds of looking at each other, he pointed at the bracelet as if to offer to put it on for her. London gave it to him and offered her right hand for him to put it on.
"You know, presented women actually put their bracelets on their left hand." He pointed out.
London rolled her eyes with a smile and switched her arms as Sergio put the bracelet. "You actually think I look like a presented woman? 'Cause if I am, then I'm flattered since I don't."
"Of course I do." Sergio answered really confidently. "And you are."
London lifted her eyes in a little disbelief that he actually thought that way. But after looking at one another for some seconds, she looked at the bracelet on her hand. It fit perfectly like a glove. "It's lovely. Thank you, really."
"Don't mention it." He brushed it off.
London smiled and looked up at him still keeping her right arm's fingers on the bracelet and feeling it. But after they stared at one another for a couple of seconds, the two leaned in and pressed their lips against each other.
Sergio took London's cheeks in his hands as she wrapped her hands around his neck and ran her fingers through his messy hair. The two kissed each other passionately for a couple of seconds before London pulled away and smiled. "Guess my wish already came true."
