Emma and Jake finally entered the dining room where all the other peculiars sat. Emma sat down in her usual seat and strapped herself down and Jake went to sit in the chair next to her but stopped when he felt something was already in the chair.
"Hey, What are you doing?" A naked Millard asked from the chair.
"Millard, go put some clothes on. Polite people do not take their supper in the nude!" Miss Peregerine scolded making some of the children, including Bea, giggle at the sentence.
"Alright! Alright" Millard stropped off leaving Jake to sit in his seat.
"You can sit here, Jake" Olive patted the seat between herself and Bea but Jake had already awkwardly sat himself in the seat Millard had once taken.
"Look at Enoch. He's jealous" Horace pointed to Enoch's face at the fact Jake was invited to sit next to his girlfriend.
"Why would I be jealous? It's not like Bea's going to marry him. And Olive's the one who wanted him to sit there." Enoch snapped as Bea started to play footsie with him under the table in attempt to soothe him.
"Don't be mean, Enoch. Olive's just excited to have a visitor" Fiona defended.
"Quite right Fiona. Nobody is marrying anybody. Now everybody eat your food before it gets cold" Miss Peregrine agreed.
They all did as they were told, Hugh's bees spilling out of his mouth as he went to eat.
"Hugh!" Olive exclaimed.
"Where's your net?" Emma asked.
The children all began to swat the bees away in an attempt to get them out of their faces. Hugh got out his hat that had a net attached to it like a beekeepers hat, he put it on before lifting the net up as he sucked in the bees back in. Miss Peregrine caught one on her finger and blew it towards him making him suck it in before he put the net down leaving Jake smiling in awe.
"It must be very strange for you Jake. To meet your grandfather's friends. Visiting another century" Fiona spoke up.
"Are there space ships in your time, Jake?" Olive asked smiling in excitement.
"Like the Flash Gordon books? Those are my favourites." Bea added her eyes glowing with curiosity as her grip on Enoch's hand tightened.
"Now! Now! Girls, what did I say about asking questions? We do not discuss the future here. We enjoy living in the here and now." Miss Pergrine said picking apart her chicken before she looked at Claire frowning "Claire, why aren't you eating?"
"She's embarrassed in front of Jake." Hugh responded from where he sat next the young girl.
"Don't be, please" Jake assured as Miss Pergrine winked at the girl which caused Claire to lift up her hair and eat the leg with her back mouth, as she finished Miss Peregrine used her napkin to wipe her mouth.
"So, Jake what's your peculiarity?" Horace asked.
"Oh, I'm...I'm not peculiar." Jake stuttered which made Olive and Bea share a look.
"And that my friends is why he'll not be staying with us. No matter how hard we try to persuade him" Enoch commented.
"We've spoken about this. Jake is just visiting." Miss Pergerine told them.
"Do you want...want to stay?" Hugh questioned Jake.
"Don't you want to stay, Jake?" Olive asked.
"Tonight or..." Jake trailed off.
"Forever! You should stay forever." Claire told him happily.
"Why would he if he can live out there. Grow older and have a good time instead. He'll leave just like his grandfather did." Enoch told them snidely.
Emma slammed her cutlery down before she unstrapped herself and stormed out passing Millard who was now clad in a cap and robe as Bea gave Enoch a scolding look to which he just shrugged.
"Emma!" Miss Peregrine called after her.
"Where's she going?" Millard asked as he sat down.
"That wasn't nice, Enoch! You know perfectly well why Abe left us." Miss Peregerine scolded the boy.
"To join the army" Hugh pointed.
"And then he met a lady. And had a nice wedding cake. And a lovely little baby." Bronwyn added.
"Children!" Miss Peregrine interrupted gaining there attention. "I know you'd all like a new friend. But I'm sure Jake has plenty of his own in Florida" as she finished her sentence the phone rang making her stand up.
"I think you should all get ready for movie time while I answer that." Miss Pergrine told them.
"But you always let us stay for it." Claire tried but was given a look by the ymbryne.

Olive lit the fire under the projector screen before she sat next to Bronwyn who sat in the middle of her and Claire and Bea was sat next to her sitting on Enoch's lap. All of the children sat with hot chocolate in there hands staring at the screen in anticipation.
"Yours has extra marshmallows on, Jake" a naked Millard told Jake who was sat on the opposite sofa to Bea and Enoch.
"Millard put some pyjamas on" Emma scolded.
"It's too hot in here" Millard moaned as Enoch and Bea started having a whispering conversation about nothing, fed up of the others moaning.
"Stop moaning" Horace told him as he cleaned the projector nob that was about to attach to his eye.
"Excuse me" Millard said sitting next to Emma who scooched closer to Jake which made Bea smile knowingly.
Horace put the projector to his eye and Miss Pergrine turned off the lights so he could start projecting his dreams. As the dream about clothes was on Bea could hear Emma and Jake have a conversation about Horace's peculiarity. The dream then switched to him meeting Jake. It then changed again to two men with huge eyes wheeling a scared woman into a lab the woman then a,de a bird like squeak which made them all other than Miss Peregrine, Horace, Enoch and Jake gasp slightly.
"A ymbryne. Who is she? Miss Pergrine do you know her?" Fiona asked.
"Don't be silly. Horace was just having a bad dream. That's all." Hugh Whispered to her in reassurance.
The dream then switched to Emma's face as she turned to what was revealed to be Jake. Dream Emma leant in as the children looked between the screen and the two. Bea looked at Emma with another knowing look as she leant back into Enoch whilst Emma, Jake and Miss Pergrine stared at the screen intently. The dream then showed the two standing close together and leaned in making High and Fiona to look towards the pair who squirmed uncomfortably in their seats, just as the dream pair looked as if they were going to kiss Miss Peregrine turned on the lights so they could no longer see the projection making the younger children let out and 'aww' in disappointment.
"That's quite enough. Thank you, Horace." Miss Peregrine thanked.
"I think I should probably get going." Jake announced.
"You could stay the night. If you wanted to. Rather than walk home alone in the dark" Miss Peregrine suggested.
"But the island is very safe, isn't is?" Emma worried.
"Of course, I only meant the path is dreadfully bumpy Jake could trip. Perhaps you could show him the shortcut. Should he ever need to avoid...bumps" Miss Peregrine didn't sound very confident which made Bea and Enoch share a look.
"Won't you stay to see the restart Jake? It's really quite spectacular" Olive smiled.
Enoch sighed tossing his head back making Bea look at him and giggle before she pecked his neck which made him smile slightly. The girl didn't really understand why he didn't like Jake or Abe that much but it did amuse her slightly. The other children made sounds of agreement to Olive's comment which Miss P smiled to.
The children and Miss P all walked out to the big, black umbrella which had a table with a clock and record player on. Miss Peregrine wound the record player up and put the needle on the record making run rabbit run play as she and the others smiled to the house all but Jake who looked a little unsure. Miss Peregrine turned back to the children and nodded making them all put on their gas masks although Jake still looked quite anxious as he did so. The lightning started as Miss Pergrine looked at her watch and two sets of four planes flew over the house before another one followed releasing the bomb but before it hit the house Miss Peregrine started to rewind the day back and set it so it was the same time the evening before so they could sleep. Miss Peregrine took off her mask and grinned at them as a signal they could take off the masks and that she was rather proud of her work. As Jake lifted the mask Bea spotted the look of awe on his face that appeared for the fifth time today. As they walked in Bea and Enoch exchanged kisses and whispers of 'I love you' whilst holding onto each others hand tightly which made Jake smile slightly at them. He'd never seen two people, never mind teenagers for eternity, so in love.
