song: here with me - d4vd
"..Huh?"
Aventurine was still in the queue. Who is behind them? They reluctantly turn around, and their eyes are met with a tall, brown-eyed man. He appeared to be in his late 20's, and had an unkept, scruffy beard, with a loose, untucked shirt and long, black jeans.
"Uhm.. do you need something?" [Name] asked bluntly.
"Hm? Well, I just wanted to get ya' number," the man asked, putting his left hand round his neck.
"Huh? Uh, no.. I'm a bit busy right now and I'm also waiting for someone.." they responded.
"C'mon now.. it's only a phone number.. how heartless do you have to be to reject someone so harshly."
"I'm just saying upfront that I don't want to give you my number.. I've told you once and I don't want to say it again. I'm not giving it to you, so leave me alone," they responded, in a harsher tone. "I'm leaving now." However, before they could move, a firm grip was tightened on their forearm.
"Stop tryna' act all tough, you bitch! You haven't learnt any manners, have you? You act all strong on the outside, but I know you're cowering in fear like a mouse!" he said, tightening his grip on their arm. "Are you even eating? Your arm is so boney and weak - I could snap it into two if I wanted to!"
"Hey stop that..! Ifyou don't, I'll report you to the Bloodhound Family..!" they scowled.
"Trying to rat me to the Bloodhound Family, are you? Haha, I'd like to see you try! You're so weak that your arm is already turning so pale!"
"H-hey stop it! I-I'll give you my number, just let go-"
-
"Hey.. what's going on here?"
As they turned around, a familiar handsome, blonde man stood behind the older fellow. It was Aventurine. One would think he would be angry by seeing something like this, but he only had a gentle smile, but it felt as if he was bottling up his real anger and plastered a fake smile on his face. He had one hand in his pocket and one on the man's shoulder.
"Do you know this man, [Name]?" Aventurine asked calmly.
"Eh? Mind ya' own business blondie! This doesn't involve you!" the man yelled furiously.
"It does when I see my friend in danger.. now I'll ask them again, without you interrupting me. Do you know this man, [Name]?" he asked again, sending a sharp glare to the man, making him temporarily halt in surprise.
"N-no.. no I don't."
"I see, so now it's your turn to talk, sir. What right do you have to touch them with such aggression?"
"Hey, I already told you once to mind your own business! Leave us alone or else you want things to get physical," he said, cracking his knuckles.
"Physical? sigh, all you bastards always have the same single-minded way of thinking. I really didn't want to use violence to resolve this, but if it's the only way to get through your head, I suppose I have no other way to make you stop.." he sighed, stretching his arms.
"And what's a scrawny kid like you gonna do-"
A loud punch echoed in the theme park, ringing in their ears.
Aventurine raised his fists, and as quick as lightning, the man, who was standing up in one second, was lying on the ground with a large, red bruise in the next.
"He sure loves rambling on about fighting and how strong he is, but he's all bark and no bite."
"..Huh?" [Name] asked. "What just happened..?"
"Hm? Well.. a guy tried to hurt you so I saved you from him!" Aventurine chimed with a smile. "Though I would've preferred not having to use my fists to sort it out.."
"Oh, uhm, yes, that happened.. well, thank you, Aventurine.. you have my gratitude," they said, their cheeks turning a light pink. "I didn't know you knew how to fight."
"Well, I do it just in case for my job. I guess you could say some people are on not so good terms with me.. anyways, more importantly, is your arm okay..?" he asked, gently picking up their arm to inspect it.
"I-I'm okay..! You don't need to worry about it!" they abruptly said, pulling their arm back. "It's getting late right now.. it might be best if we go back now."
"Yeah, you're right. Well, I hope your second date wasn't ruined because of that. I'll get going now," he said, giving a small bow.

[NAME]'S POV:
The sky began to darken to a midnight blue, and the lonely moon used its iridescent glow to serve as the only light source. The streets were empty as usual at this hour, and all the shops along the road were preparing to close down, a few of them already having the shutters down.
My eyes were fixated on my phone: specifically the message screen with Aventurine. I should probably ask him if he got home safe. But this is the first time I would talk to him online. I shouldn't make this awkward.. but what do I say..?
I can't be too formal because it would set the tone quite awkwardly.. but I can't be too informal and act all chummy with him since we've only been on 2 dates.
The entire way home was silent. I never diverted my eyes off of the screen, aside from occasionally looking up to see if the pedestrian traffic light turned green. The soft, gentle warmth from my phone served as a heater throughout the entire walk in the cold.
After 10 minutes or so, I eventually reached the front door to my house and walked in. As usual, I took off my shoes and headed upstairs to my bedroom where I sat face to face with the message screen.
..What am I doing? I shouldn't be overthinking something as simple as this. I should just ask him straightforwardly if he got home safely and leave it at that.
Yeah, a simple message to check on how he is doing.. and that's enough. It's normal to think over a lot on what you want to say to your friends for the first time, right..?

it feels warm. like a pair of warm, comforting hands enveloping me to protect me. a warm fire that will protect me. it's warmth isn't that of a raging fire, but a cozy fireplace, gently burning off the ends of the tag. the fire is so kind to burn off the ends of the tag, so i will repay the favour and protect the fire from the rain. the cruel, harsh rain, trying to put out the fire.
