song: i wish you love - laufey

"What the fuck is this."

Exactly a week has passed since the first date. However, just before the two parted from their first date, Aventurine gently whispered in [Name]'s ear to arrive on the location he gave, as he handed them a small card with an address written on it. Except, it wasn't actually an address. It was only just directions from the restaurant they were in. As if he tried to conceal the location as a surprise.

"What do you mean 'what the fuck is this'? It's our date location of course!" he grinned.

"Yeah, I know that. I mean, what the fuck is this? You're telling me we are going on our second date to Clock Studios Theme Park..?"

"And what, did you think I was going to take you to restaurants every week? How boring is that! Dates are meant to be enjoyable!"

"..I didn't buy all those dresses/suits just for 1 date. I should be spending my free time doing something more productive, not going to theme parks..!" they said. "I specifically said to take me to places like restaurants!"

"Did you? Hmm, well I don't remember! We're here, so you might as well spend some time here! I'll buy the tickets and the food, so don't worry."

"What a drag.. fine. But no more theme parks after this!"

"Haha, sure!" he beamed, grabbing [Nane]'s hand. He had a pure smile on his face. One you would see a child have on their birthday. A child who has lived the purest childhood with love surrounding them. His soft cheeks faded to a rosy pink and formed smile lines from the corners of his mouth.

"H-hey, stop tugging on my arm! I'm coming!" they yelled. No matter how badly they didn't want to go to the theme park, they couldn't bear to see the innocent gleeful smile on his face be shattered.

"Hey look at this! It's the Hamster Ball Knight! We can make our own movie! What do you say we see who can make the movie the fastest?" he asked with a cunning smirk.

"Always trying to make everything a competition, aren't you? Sure, but you owe me 15,000 credits if I'm quicker!"

"Ha! Sure, and you owe me 30,000 if I am quicker!"

"H-hey, that's not fair-" but they couldn't finish their sentence as Aventurine had already started his movie and couldn't let him get any extra seconds ahead, credits were on the line here.

The two were so fully concentrated, they didn't even communicate once during the session, determined to beat the other. The only sound that could be heard is the repetitive mashing of the flip button, carefully avoiding the opponents and obstacles and trying to trigger as many 'Turbo Dashes' as possible.

Until finally, it all ended and a winner was declared.

"HA! I beat you, now hand over the credits," [Name] boasted, gesturing their hand for Aventurine to give them credits.

"Fine, fine," he said, handing the credits over. [Name] felt a bit of satisfaction from the date here as they managed to earn some sort of reward, as they immediately stuffed the coins in their bag, ensuring they don't fall out.

"I see another attraction over there. This time I'll beat you and make sure the score becomes 1-1!" he said, running off ahead.

"H-hey, wait for me! You have to seriously stop running off on your own.."

-

Hours which felt like minutes went by. The once golden sun began to finally rest and the azure sky became a sunset ombrรฉ.

"Since I won the last match, that makes us tied I think," Aventurine said.

"Y-your's aren't even actual games, they're all just games of luck! I really won all the ones that require skill.."

"Oh well, it's a tie, so I guess nobody wins today.. maybe next time!" he smiled. Hours went by, and that childlike smile still was not washed away. It felt as if it wanted to use every minute it could there to have fun and run away from reality. After some aimless wandering, they eventually ran into the Dreamville-Themed Restaurant.

"Hah.. look at all those sweets," Aventurine said as he quickly glanced over the rows of treats behind the worker. "Which one do you want? I'll pay for you. We might as well eat something here, it's getting late and we haven't eaten anything for a few hours.."

"Woah.. I-I'll take the Dreamville Special then! The flavours are randomised right? I'll make it a surprise then for myself," they responded.

"Alright.. and I'll get the Odd Gummy Candy," he said, as he swiftly grabbed a stack of credits from his pocket and handed it to the worker behind the stall.

"Ah, it's so good..! It's not as extravagant as the dinner we had last week, but it feels as if it is somewhat special or even nostalgic.." they said, glaring down at the drink, with soft, tender eyes and a small smile, grasping onto it tightly with their whole hand.

"Haha, I should've gotten one as well!"

"Yeah, it's so goo-" but before they could finish their sentence, they noticed something in the corner of their eye. They began running.

"H-hey! Where are you going?" Aventurine yelled, chasing after them. "Hey, be careful, you're gonna trip!"

"Ah-" they barely muttered before their shoe got caught under their long, dangling suit/dress. They were beginning to crash towards the floor. Until a pair of firm, cold hands wrapped around their waist tightly.

"You should look where you're going if you're going to run off somewhere. If I wasn't here, you would've gotten your clothes dirty and wasted your money buying them," Aventurine laughed.

"Y-you.. thank you.." they muttered.

His face was close. Just like last time

FLASHBACK

However, as if he realised that they saw him staring, he immediately jolted from his seat. He brought a pure white handkerchief with elegant designs embroidered on by a talented seamstress towards the left side of their lip.

"You have a few crumbs left," he quietly whispered into their ear, gently wiping them off.

"S-still though, I wouldn't have come in this dress if you didn't take me to a theme park of all places..!"

"Regardless, you had fun, didn't you? Just look at how fixated you were, running towards a.. photo board?"

"Huh..? Oh, yeah, the photo board. I, uh, just wanted to take a picture together, that's all.. try to remember our time

here, y'know?"

"Are you sure that's the only reason?" he questioned. "Surely you wouldn't run so carelessly just for a reason like that?"

"U-uhm.. uh.." they stuttered. "O-ok fine. I just wanted to go because I never really got the opportunity to go before. I always wanted to go but never got the chance to. It's such a childish reason, I know.."

Without even taking time to respond, he grabbed their wrist gently and took them over behind the stand, promptly placing both himself and [Name] in the suitable positions. Then, he got his phone out.

"Remember to smile!" he exclaimed.

"H-huh, wait what? I'm not ready yet-"

SNAP

"Is the picture to your liking?" he asked, bringing the phone down to show them the photo.

"W-what? Of course not! You dragged me by surprise and took it midway while I was talking..! Retake it!" they yelled.

"Hmm.. no," he said with a sly grin. "But give me your number. I'm going to send it to you."

"Huh? Uh, okay.." they responded, reluctantly getting their phone out. It was a very plain phone, at least, compared to Aventurine's. While his was decorated with golden gems, theirs was a simple clear phone case, slightly turning yellow from its long use. Nothing more and nothing less.

"Alright, I sent you the picture," he said. "I'll go check the stall to see if they have more Dreamville Specials."

"Alright, just don't take too long."

Some time has passed. Aventurine still hadn't returned. They guessed the queue got longer while they were away, so they decided the sit on a nearby wooden bench while waiting. They turned on their phone and the first thing that greeted them was the same picture they took together. Even through the picture, his youthful smile filled with innocence could be felt, a comforting sensation. He certainly wasn't as happy as this last week on their last date. As if he wanted to run away from the expensive, formal dinners. To somewhere where he can rekindle his childhood.

Then, suddenly a cold hand was felt on their shoulder. It wasn't his this time.

"Huh?"
