It was a few more days before I did end up seeing them again. One morning after an early show, it was Luke who came to me. I was taking down my neat high bun when I heard a knock on my bedroom/dressing room door.
I got up and opened the door to see Luke grinning down at me. "Good morning," He greets with a smile.
"Hi," I answer in surprise. "What's up?"
"I don't know. We haven't seen you in a while and I was just wondering what you're up to," He replies as he rocks back and forth on the heels of his feet.
"I just finished a show, come on in," I say backing up from the door before closing it behind him.
Once he's in the room he takes a look around. He looks at the posters I have of my favorite bands and singers, the railing I have that holds all my dramatically sequined dresses to which he scrunched his nose, and lastly the navy blue couch that converts into a bed. "I like your band choices. I recognize a few of them like Queen or Fleetwood Mac. I don't know who Billie Eilish is though. They a band?" He asks as he takes a seat on the couch.
"She's a modern pop singer," I shrug as I shove my hands in my hoodie's pockets and sit down back at my vanity.
"A lot of them are from the 70s and 80s," He notes.
"They're the bands I grew up listening to." I nod.
"Really? That's really cool. When I was growing up all my parents would play is the Beatles and Bowie," He says.
"Hey! Bowie was good!" I justify.
"I'm not saying he's not."
"Was not."
"What?"
"Was not," I repeat. He furrows his browsing confusion. "He died a little while ago."
"Oh," He says as his face turns into a slight pout. He thinks for a second as he prosess that before changing the subject. "How did you die, if you don't mind my asking?"
"No, no. It's fine. I uh, I got it by a car right before I could experience my big break. I even got on the news," I tell him sadly. I can't help but think back to the night where I went home only to find Lila crying on the phone.
"I'm sorry. Me and the guys died in a really embarrassing way. There's nothing quite like going out by going to a hotdog stand only to get really bad food poisoning," He shares.
At this, I was a bit surprised. How were they able to eat so much just a few weeks ago when we first met when that was the cause of their death? I shake off the thought before replying, "Wow. I don't know how I'd feel if I died that way."
"Not good," he replies as he shakes his head in thought.
I smile as a thought crosses my head. "Hey, do you want to go on a walk?" I ask to which his expression changes to his traditional grin.

We walked around Hollywood's streets for a good portion of the day. It was almost noon when we were finishing our debate on whether or not a hotdog is a type of sandwich or not.
"Hey, isn't that Julie's school?" I ask, remembering when the guys brought me here so they could perform at Julie's dance.
"Huh. Yeah, it is. How long have we been walking?" Luke asks as he looks back to the direction we came from.
I look at my phone for the time before replying "About an hour and a half," Wow. Time flies I guess.
"Mind if we say hi?" Luke asks, gesturing to the school.
"Sure." I shrug. We walk onto the school campus and look around for any sight of Julie or Flynn. When we don't see either of them outside Luke starts to head inside. "Wait!" I stop him by grabbing his hand.
He looks down at them before asking, "What?"
"Do you want me to make us visible to lifers?" I ask in reply.
"I forgot you could do that!" He exclaims before nodding. To this, I pull him over to the side of one of the buildings as I try to concentrate. I can feel Luke's eyes watching me as I do my best to focus.
I open my eyes once it's done and pull us back towards the building's entrance. "How do you know it worked?" Luke asks curiously.
"Like this." I smile as I prepare to ask a student nearby a question. "Hi, do you know where the music building is?"
The teen boy looks up from his phone to make eye contact with both Luke and I before answering. "Uh yeah, it's the building down that way to the right," He tells us, pointing behind him.
"Right, thanks," I thank him politely.
"Yeah thanks, man," Luke adds. The guy gives a single nod in return as I pull Luke in the direction of the music building. "Holy crap, that was cool!" He gloats once we're a few paces away.
"Yeah," I agree.
We walk into the building only to find Julie placing things in her locker which I notice had a big J in cursive on the front. Luke raises his pointer finger to his lips as we lean against the other lockers, waiting for her to close it so we can see her.
When she does she jumps making Luke and I chuckle. "Hey," Luke greets with an adorable smile.
"Normal people don't do that. And ghosts definitely shouldn't. What are you two doing here?" Julie smiles kindly as she crosses her arms.
"We need to talk about what song we're gonna play tonight," Luke replies, pushing himself off the lockers.
"Why don't you play that song you were telling me about. Um, Great? I think that's the name right?" I suggest.
"I think Great is a... great choice," Julie agrees, pun not intended.
"Jules, what's up?" A girl says as she passes by, making eye contact with Luke who winks at her. I smirk at how much he's enjoying being visible.
"Did she just-. Can she see you?" Julie says, looking back at the girl.
"Yeah. That would be Vic's doing. Her powers are way cooler than mine," Luke says, shoving his hands in his pockets.
I shrug as I reply "I've just had practice." It's one of the few moments that I'm glad I'm dead, or else my cheeks would probably be glowing a bright pink.
Luke looks at me with a shake of his head. "It's more than that," He says, not breaking eye contact.
"Um, I have to go to my dance class right now so I'll see you two later," She says, looking somewhere past us.
I look to what she's looking at to see a blonde boy dressed in black walking this way. "And who is this that you want to see so badly?" I ask teasingly, as the boy gets closer.
"That's Nick... And he's coming this way! Crap! Don't be embarrassing!" Julie tells Luke quickly as Nick walks up to us.
"Hey, Julie! Who are you're friends?" He asks as Luke returns to my side as we lean against the lockers.
"Well, doesn't he looks sharp?" Luke whispers in my ear.
"Oh, he looks very dapper," I whisper back with a smile.
"This is Luke and Victoria. They were just leaving," Julie hints. My, isn't she just smitten.
"Well, hi. Nice to meet you," Nick greets, holding out a hand for us to shake.
Luke looks at me in panic as I quickly think of something to say. "Um, sorry. We're germaphobes," I excuse. I can hear Luke sigh of relief.
"Oh, no worries," He says before turning back to Julie. "You ready for our big performance?"
Luke and I share a knowing look before looking back at the duo. "Oh yeah. Yeah. We're gonna do great," Julie chuckles, moving her hair away from her face.
"I'm glad you're confident. Even after three classes, I still think I got worse. It's a good thing I got my secret weapon," Nick grins down at her.
"Uh-oh! I think somebody has a crush on Julie!" Luke whispers with a cheeky grin making me huff a smile.
"Shut up," Julie tells him, having overheard us.
"What?" Nick asks cluelessly.
"Nothing," Julie replies quickly and somewhat loudly.
"No, but seriously, Molina. I... I'm nothing without you." Nick smiles as he looks down at his shoes.
"What? No. No, you're-, You're gonna do fine," She assures.
"I think that's our queue," I whisper to Luke, wanting to give the two some privacy.
"Alright. Well, kill it on the dance floor," Luke says shuffling his feet a bit like the twist.
"Will do. Bye!" Julie says as we walk away.
I yell a quick bye before walking out of the building. "Well, they are just too cute!" Luke tells me.
"I could see them being a thing," I agree as we walk off the campus where stop using my powers.
"What do you want to do now?" Luke asks.
I think for a second before saying. "I have an idea. But you're just going to have to trust me." I hold out my hand for him to take, ready to teleport us to our next destination.
He looks down at my hand and happily takes it before everything around us changes. Instead of concrete, we now stand on the sand. Luke looks around to see a small private beach. There is a small cave that outlooks into the shore.
"Where are we?" Luke asks, taking in his surroundings.
I pull our still connected hands toward the cave as I reply, "A small beach on the outskirts of Santa Monica. I like to go here whenever I'm not working."
We take a seat on a rock the size of a bolder as Luke looks around in awe. I take this moment to look at the details of his face. His hazel eyes wander across the water as it ripples toward the shore. As he looks the other way, I notice how sharp his jawline is.
His eyes meet my blue ones as he smiles at me with the most handsome grin I've ever seen. "Wanna see something cool?" He asks.
I nod in reply as he unlinks our fingers and moves his hand to his lap. I almost regret nodding, missing his warm hand in mine, but I don't show it.
He closes his eyes as he concentrates. Suddenly an acoustic guitar appears from thin air, taking me by surprise. "What? H- how?" I stutter.
"I don't know. The guys and I just can, somehow. We don't why," Luke tells me with a shrug as he moves the guitar strap over his head and takes out his pic.
"What was it you were saying about how your powers are lamer than mine?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
He huffs a smile. "Shut up," He chuckles. He moves his hands as though he's ready to play but stops before looking up at me. He thinks for a second before fulling out a small note boot from his back pocket.
"I have a song I've been working on for the past weeks, but it's not done yet. It- it's a duet. I just... don't have enough lyrics for it to be a song quite yet," He says quietly, although I can hear him just fine, as he opens the book and hands it to me.
"If you want, we can improvise it. I'd like to hear what you have so far," I suggest with a shrug.
"Yeah. Yeah, okay," He replies and I can hear a bit of excitement in his voice as he starts to play a gentle melody. "Um, this song is called Perfect Harmony."
"Step into my world. A bittersweet love story about a girl. Shook me to the core. A voice like an angel, I've never heard before," Luke sings, not breaking eye contact. He nods telling me to sing the next verse.
"Here in front of me. They're shining so much brighter than I have ever seen. Life can be so mean. But when he goes, I know he doesn't leave," I sing in the same melody.
"The truth is finally breaking through. Two worlds collide when I'm with you. A voice is rising so, so high. We come to life when we're in harmony," We harmonize together.
Each word we sing is almost like a poem made for the other. I smile as we hold eye contact as we vocalize together. "Perfect Harmony."
Luke stops strumming his guitar as I sing. "We say we're friends."
"We play pretend."
"You're more to me."
"We create..."
"The perfect Harmony..."
Luke and I can't seem to break eye contact as we take a few breaths. Luke blinks before saying, "I think that was really good." He clears his throat.
"Yeah. Perfect, even," I say before huffing a smile.
"Look, Victoria. I- I wanted to tell you that-, I think you make me a better writer." Luke confesses honestly, as he scratches the back of his head.
"Is that so?" I rease with a smirk. "I think we make each other better," I add, tilting my head slightly.
At my response his face visibly glows with joy, making my heart melt at the sight. Why does he have to be so freaking cute?
We spend the next few hours talking, singing, and laughing together. If I had a choice, I would never leave this moment. But I know that at some point in the day we will have to. But at the moment I'm savoring it.
