Darryl Pov:
The rest of the school day went on normally, and nobody talked about the murders.
After school I immediately went home and sorted out the two notes I had gotten.
I put them on the desk in my room and adjusted my glasses.
I tried to find something. I don't know, anything helpful.
But there was nothing.
The smiley face that had been written on the first one seemed to be staring into my soul.
I shuddered just thinking about it and looked away.
"Ugh, forget this," I groaned out and re-crumpled the first note so the smile wasn't staring any longer. And I folded up the second note from today.
I stood up off of my chair, making a squeak noise fill the silence for just a moment before walking over to my bed and lying down.
It was only 3pm and yet I was so tired.
I decided on taking a short nap. I set an alarm on my phone for 4:30pm before setting it down on my nightstand along with my glasses and dozed off to sleep.
.
.
.
I woke up to the sound of my phone. I was so out of it to even realize that the noise wasn't my alarm, yet a phone call. I finally noticed after picking my phone up and seeing that it was only 4:14pm and there was a missed call notification.
I quickly sat up in my bed after grabbing my glasses and resting them on my nose and ears. I did the password on my phone so I could see who had called me.
It was an unknown number. The number wasn't saved nor did I recognize it.
I wondered if I should call them back. But I decided against it. If it were important they would call me back. And it was probably just a spam.
I intended to go back to sleep and not think too much about it. But I had trouble falling asleep. I mean it was an hour long nap, so it's understandable.
I turned off the set alarm and lied in bed playing on my phone. I didn't have many games on it, so I just played the few that I had. Which were honestly boring. For example, one of them was cookie clicker. Brings back nostalgia but is pretty boring if you ask me.
But just as I was clicking my heart out I got another phone call from the same number as before.
I hovered over the accept button for a second before pressing it.
Silence.
"..hello?" I asked.
It was probably just a spam caller.
But as I was about to hang up a person spoke up on the other line.
"Darryl." Was all they said.
The voice sounded familiar yet again, but I still couldn't quite figure it out.
My heart started pounded when I realized that I had no idea who this person was that was calling me, so how would they have known my name?
I got scared and searched my bed before finding what I was looking for, I pulled Raspberry the bat out from hidden under the covers and held him close. The bat made me think of Zak. And it brought me comfort and confidence.
"Who is this?" I asked rather harshly.
The line was dead silent, not even a sound of the person's breathing could be heard. It's as if they walked away from the phone.
I sat for a few more moments before giving up and just hanging up.
That person wasn't gonna ruin my day.
"It was probably a prank caller anyways," I told Raspberry.
I then shut off my phone and set it on the side of my bed.
I stared at the ceiling for a good few minutes just thinking.
"Do you miss blackberry?" I asked my stuffed bat while still staring at the ceiling. "Because I miss Zak." I shut my eyes for another few minutes. But I wasn't tired. "Do you wanna go see them?"
.
.
.
The next thing I knew I was walking to Zak's house. With raspberry in my hoodie pocket that I had put on right before leaving my house since it was getting colder outside, and my backpack that I had for some reason decided to take a long with me.
"What am I doing, what am I doing?" I whispered over and over to myself.
But I knew what I was doing. I was going to go see someone I cared about deeply. I was going to go see someone I never wanted to lose.
And I knew his house was a far ways away, but I didn't care, I needed to see him.
I don't exactly know why I needed to see him. All I knew is that I just did.
So I walked and I walked. Occasionally ran aswell. But after a few seconds of running I would just think 'nope not doing that.' And started walking again.
But I eventually made it, and I was so happy to. The only thing that would make me sad is if he wasn't home.
I checked the time on my phone while stepping onto his front porch to make sure it wasn't to late to be visiting. But it was only 4:56pm. So I knocked on the door.
*Knock knock knock*
I stood for a few seconds before hearing rumaging on the other side of the door.
Then the door was unlocked and opened.
"Hello?" Said a female voice.
I blinked twice before seeing who it was. It was Zak's sister.
"Hi! Is Zak home?" I asked her.
"And who are you? Oh wait! You're that kid that Zak was like making out with or something at the trampoline park, yeah, come on in. He's just in his room." She gestures me inside and closed the door behind me.
What she had said made my face feel a bit warm, but I didn't say anything about it. I just thanked her for letting me inside and went upstairs to knock on Zak's bedroom door after taking off my shoes and backpack.
*Knock knock knock*
"Come in!" I heard Zak yell from the other side of the door.
I opened the door and saw Zak sitting at his computer, playing Minecraft. And I could see Blackberry sitting down next to the mouse he was using.
I walked inside the room fully and shut the door behind me.
Zak quickly put Minecraft to the resume screen and set down the headphones he was wearing on his desk.
"What do you want, Samir-" Zak said while spinning around to face the door. But he quickly cut off after seeing me. "Darryl? What are you doing here? Hi!" Zak smiled at me and stood up to greet me.
"Hey Zak, sorry I came so unannounced, I just wanted to see you. And I also brought someone with me."
I walked over to the desk with the paused Minecraft screen and pulled Raspberry out of my pocket and set him down right next to Zak's Blackberry.
"Oh! Well, I wasn't doing anything. Me and Blackberry were just playing some Minecraft," Zak announced while coming over to stand next to me.
I stood up straight and turned to face Zak, giving him a smile. I gave him a nice long hug.
"What was that for?" Zak giggled.
"I just wanted to do that."
I ended up spending the night at his house, since we go to the same school anyway. And I refused to leave his side.
I didn't tell him about the notes, or the phone calls. I just wanted to forget about them. I just wanted to be happy.
And being with Zak, made me happy.
"Goodnight Darryl," Zak yawned to me.
I was on the floor where Zak had set up a bed for me, while Zak was beside me on another bed set up on the bed. We both refused to be the one to take the bed, so we settled on us just both taking the floor.
"Goodnight, Zak."
I wanted some more interaction with Bad and Skeppy since they are my babiieeesss. So here you go! I hope you enjoyed this page. Have a good day/night!
