It had been a few days since the incident and you were recovering but at a slow pace. Currently, it was lunch and you were still sat at your desk with some grapes in front of you, nibbling on them occasionally when you remembered they were there. Your focus was on the weather outside hence why you kept ignoring the food sitting in front of you. It was a bright sunny day, one of those that makes you feel happy and energised just from looking outside but you felt different. No sudden surge of joy overcame you, you felt neutral and that was that. The main reason for sitting inside today was because you wanted to avoid any extra attention at all costs but you also wanted to avoid the team. Daichi and Asahi would of most definitely became like defensive dogs and protested to anyone unknown even looking in your direction. The thought of them growling and barking at strangers was kind of amusing to you but not enough to earn more than a small smile. Your mind was crowded, an unhealthy crowding to say the least.
Worries and doubts filled your already naturally anxious mind, making everything worse and worse. But as of right now you were calm, listening to the noises of nature had this effect on you. A few birds were chirping and you also had the pleasure of being able to see them from the window. Two robins were sitting on a tree branch presumably chatting away to each other in their own language. It's said that when someone dies a robin will appear and return to that place for visits except for when the migration period comes around of course. They both seemed to be arguing over some food when you squinted your eyes to close in on them more, it's so strange how similar humans are to animals...as Darwin said it's 'survival of the fittest'... you being one of the top students in class, often managed to get your assignments done pretty quickly so you had plenty of free time to do some research for your own leisure. Reading up on facts and stories about animals and evolution was a hobby of yours and it got you thinking about the similarities between humans and animals. Every person fights to be the strongest whether it be through physical strength, where you fight your way to the top or mental strength, where you claim the top spot at a company for example and then have the ability to live your life freely. Not being bound by the constrictions of money which is a huge issue for some people but you didn't need to worry about such a thing, at least not for now. A warm breeze blew through the window and calmed your nerves as well as your temperature, it was quite a warm day. Even though it was autumn time.
But your thoughts were interrupted when the classroom door slid open and three tall third years appeared. "Hey little one!" Your brother Koushi chimes. Tch...I'm not that short...
Daichi nudges his arm and points to my displeased face. "What's the matter Y/n?" Asahi says in his usual uncertain tone, he always spoke like this in fear of scaring anyone because younger students seemed to find him frightening all because of his facial hair, but you had grown up with the male so you knew he always meant well. He walked over to your desk and knelt down with his arms resting on the table, head tilted in your direction and his gaze was soft, his patient aura circling the room.
You smile back at him before returning your attention to the clouds outside. So light...so fluffy...so free... you had zoned out again but Asahi's hand on yours brought you back. "I won't press for details but I just want a simple yes, no or a variation of the two, okay?" Daichi and Koushi walk up behind him and each place a hand on his shoulders, you look up at Koushi and he nods.
"I feel okay but I'm just trying to stay away from everyone to reduce the risk of seeing them again..." you stopped before you went on more. Dammit Y/n! You said more than he asked for, he won't think I'm asking for attention will he? No...Asahi would never think like that...He pats your head and ruffles your hair a bit before standing up.
"Okay thank you for answering, so nothing happened between you and Nishinoya then?" His question caused your breathing to hitch. Why would he ask that?
You look at him with wide eyes and slightly parted lips. "N-no...why? Is he okay?" You felt worried but at the same time you didn't know why you felt so protective over the Libero but, to be fair you did kind of owe it to him.
Koushi was now standing behind you and he placed his hands on your shoulders. "He's just acting a bit off with your brother and he's trying too hard in practice that it's causing his performance to suffer..." Daichi said with a sad tone and his hands on his hips. What happened to him? As if on instinct, you grabbed Koushi and Asahi's wrists and dragged them through the halls, Daichi was following behind with your bag and blazer as it was hanging on the back of your chair. The reason you were dragging two out of three of the third years was because your tiny hands wouldn't manage to grip onto all three but you also needed them there for support. Walking through the halls alone is something you dread on every school day but you persevered, mainly because you had Nishinoya by your side.
After turning the final corner you reach the gym and the first thing you see is Nishinoya dive to receive the ball but he calculated it wrong and was around one second too early. Time is valuable and nothing should be rushed if you want it to be shown at its best, whether it be a movement of some kind or a piece of work like a homework project or a business presentation. Quality is better than quantity.
Letting go of your friend and brother's wrists, you rush over to Nishinoya who was laying on the ground on his back. Hands covering his eyes and teeth gritted together. It was clear how annoyed he was becoming with himself. You kneel down beside him and tap his arm, "u-um...Nishinoya-senpai?" His facial muscles relaxed and his hands moved slightly so that he could see who was calling out to him even though he knew from the way the honorific was used so timidly. You saw his eyes light up when he first saw you but they quickly dulled and he sat up without looking at you.
"How comes your here? I didn't think you'd want to walk through the halls at a time when they would be most populated..." he point was right but the way he said it wasn't. His tone was void of emotion and the way he didn't even bat an eye at you after sitting up also caused a pain to be felt in your heart. Have I done something?
You shuffle around so that you're in front of him. "Have I done something to upset you?" You felt tears wanting to build up in your eyes but you held them back, not wanting to cause anymore of a scene.
"No just..." he sigh and runs a hand through his hair before standing up and finally making eye contact with you. "Please try and stay away from me from now on...I'm sorry" that was the last thing he said before walking over to the ball bin, leaving you there on the ground stunned. W-what?
You had no control anymore, a few odd tears started streaming down your cheeks but a quick movement of your arm over your eyes soon stopped everyone from being able to see. Dragging your feet over to your brother you stare at the ground as you speak. "I don't feel well so would you mind telling my teacher that I went home?" You didn't want to stay any longer so you grabbed your bag from Daichi, "thank you..." and walked out of the gym and towards the school gates, running home as soon as you were out of the sight from the hundreds of students.

"Uh...sure?" I mumble as I watch Y/n speed walk towards the gates before turning on her heel abruptly and sprinting away. What happened between those two? "Hey Nishinoya?" I make the decision to approach him. He took his time but eventually he looked at me, "may I ask about what you said to make Y/n so upset?" There was no malice in my tone but he knew I wanted an answer and I would most certainly get one. Whether it be from him or Y/n.
