Hannah and Fuyuhiko sat in the detention room, the air thick with tension. The teacher supervising them, Mr Yamato, cast an annoyed glance in their direction but said nothing, leaving them to stew in their mutual irritation.
Hannah groaned, flinging her head back in annoyance. "This is so stupid," she muttered, glaring at the clock on the wall. "I can't believe we're stuck here because of you."
"Because of me?" Fuyuhiko shot back, a mocking grin spreading across his face. "You're the one who started yelling in the corridor. I was just defending myself."
"Defending yourself?" Hannah scoffed, her irritation growing. "You were provoking me, as usual. You always have to have the last word, don't you?"
Fuyuhiko leaned back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest. "Oh, come on. Don't be so dramatic. You're always complaining about something."
"I'm not always complaining!" Hannah snapped, her face flushing with anger. "You just know how to get under my skin."
"Maybe you should work on not being so easy to rile up," Fuyuhiko teased, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "It's actually pretty entertaining watching you lose your cool."
Hannah clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. "You think this is funny? Being stuck in detention because of your stupid antics?"
Fuyuhiko's smirk widened. "Well, it's not like I had any thrilling plans this afternoon. Besides, it's kind of fun seeing you all worked up."
"Fun? You think this is fun?" Hannah stood up, her chair scraping loudly against the floor. "You're such a-"
"Hey, keep it down!" Mr Yamato snapped, glaring at them. "One more outburst, and you'll both be here all week."
Hannah shot Fuyuhiko a furious glare before slumping back into her seat. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest, fuming silently. Fuyuhiko chuckled softly, clearly enjoying her reaction.
"You know," he said, his voice lower so the teacher wouldn't hear, "You really need to learn to relax. You're going to give yourself a heart attack before you even graduate."
"Why do you always have to be such a jerk?" Hannah hissed, her eyes narrowing. "Do you enjoy making people miserable?"
Fuyuhiko shrugged, unfazed by her anger. "I just tell it like it is. If you can't handle it, that's not my problem."
Hannah shook her head, exasperated. "You're impossible."
"And yet, here we are." Fuyuhiko replied, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied grin. "Guess we're stuck with each other for the next hour. Might as well make the best of it."
Hannah sighed, feeling the weight of the situation settle over her. She knew arguing with Fuyuhiko was pointless, but she couldn't help but be infuriated by his smug attitude. She turned her attention back to the clock, willing the minutes to pass faster, all the while silently plotting her revenge for the next time he provoked her.
As the minutes dragged on, the tension in the room seemed to grow thicker. Mr Yamato glanced at his watch, and sighed, slowly standing up. "I need to step out for a few minutes," he said, casting a warning look at Hannah and Fuyuhiko. "Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone."
The door clicked shut behind him, and an uneasy silence filled the room. Hannah shifted in her seat, her fingers drumming impatiently on the desk. Fuyuhiko watched her with a smirk, clearly enjoying her discomfort.
"What's the matter?" he drawled. "Bored already?"
"Shut up," Hannah snapped, not even looking at him. "I don't want to hear it."
Fuyuhiko leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "You know, for someone who's always acting so tough, you sure do whine a lot."
"Do you ever get tired of being an ass?" Hannah shot back, her voice rising with each word. "Or is it just part of your charm?"
Fuyuhiko's smirk widened. "I don't know, Togami. Maybe you're just too sensitive."
"Sensitive?" Hannah scoffed, finally turning to face him. "You provoke everyone you meet. It's like you get off on making people angry."
"Maybe I do," Fuyuhiko replied with a shrug. "Or maybe you just make it too easy."
Hannah stood up, her chair scraping loudly against the floor again. "You know what? I'm done. I'm not going to sit here and let you treat me like this."
Fuyuhiko's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Oh, come on. You're not going to run away, are you? Where's that famous Togami pride?"
Hannah clenched her fists, her anger boiling over. Before she could respond, the door opened, and Mr Yamato walked back in. He glanced between the two of them, sensing the tension, but said nothing.
The hour dragged on painfully as Hannah and Fuyuhiko sat in detention, each minute marked by the slow ticking of the clock. Their earlier argument had left them both seething, and the oppressive silence between them was only broken occasionally by the scratch of pencils or the shuffling of papers.
Finally, the bell rang, signaling the end of detention. Hannah shot up from her seat, her anger still simmering just beneath the surface. She gathered her things quickly, not wanting to spend another second in Fuyuhiko's presence.
"Get out of my way," she snapped as she brushed past him.
Fuyuhiko smirked, stepping slightly to the side but not enough to make it easy for her. "What's the hurry, Togami? Got more lockers to mess up?"
Hannah glared at him, her eyes flashing with fury. "Just leave me alone, Kuzuryu."
She stormed out of the room, her footsteps echoing loudly in the empty hallway. She didn't slow down until she was well away from the detention room, her heart still pounding with anger. She couldn't believe that she had let him get to her like that.
Fuyuhiko followed her out at a more leisurely pace, his usual smirk still plastered on his face. He enjoyed getting under her skin, and their constant arguments were a source of twisted amusement for him. But as he watched her retreating figure, a small part of him couldn't help but admire her fire and determination, even if it was directed at him.

Hannah stormed into the Togami mansion, her face flushed with anger. The loud slam of the front door echoed through the grand hall, causing a couple of servants to glance up in surprise. Without acknowledging anyone, she stomped into the living room, flinging herself onto a plush sofa with a dramatic groan.
One of the servants, a kindly older woman, tentatively approached her. "Miss Hannah, is everything alright?" she asked gently.
Hannah waved her hand dismissively, not even bothering to look up. "Just go away," she muttered, her voice laced with frustration.
The servant retreated quietly, leaving Hannah to stew in her anger. She fumed silently, her mind replaying the infuriating detention with Fuyuhiko. Just the thought of his smug face made her blood boil.
A few minutes later, she heard footsteps approaching. She looked up, expecting another servant, but was instead met with a familiar face. Her cousin, Riku, strolled into the room with a slight grin on his face.
His eyes, a deep shade of brown, sparkled with intelligence and humor, always seeming to calculate the next move or the next jest. He carried himself with an easy confidence, a testament to his upbringing in the influential Kuzuryu clan and his own inherent capabilities. Despite his tough exterior, he shared a close bond with his cousin Hannah, treating her like a younger sister and always looking out for her. But due to them being in different clans, the two never really saw each other unless it was business related.
His protective nature extended to Fuyuhiko, who he considers his best friend, making him a key ally in the complex dynamics between the Togami and Kuzuryu clans. Him and Fuyuhiko shared a bond forged through years of shared experiences, and the unique pressures of being part of the powerful Kuzuryu clan, overall surprising Hannah. She couldn't understand why her beloved cousin would ever want to work for someone as selfish and annoying as Fuyuhiko.
Riku shrugged nonchalantly. "Business with your old man, as usual. But I heard about your little run-in with Fuyuhiko. Care to share?" He leaned back, making himself comfortable, his grin widening.
Hannah let out an exasperated sigh, throwing her hands up in the air. "He's insufferable! We got into a fight in the corridor, and we both ended up in detention. And he just wouldn't stop teasing me the whole time!" She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
Riku chuckled, shaking his head. "Sounds like Fuyuhiko, alright. But you should've seen the look on his face when I told him we were related. He was like, 'What? That little firecracker is your cousin?' Priceless."
Hannah couldn't help but crack a smile at the thought. "I bet he was. He's so full of himself."
Riku nodded, his expression turning more serious. "He can be a pain, but he's not all bad. Just give him some time. He might surprise you."
Hannah scoffed, not entirely convinced. "We'll see. Right now, I just want to forget he exists."
Riku reached over and ruffled her hair affectionately. "Fair enough. Just remember, I'm always here if you need to vent. Even if it means putting up with your temper tantrums." He smirked, dodging the pillow Hannah threw at him.
"You're the worst," she muttered, but her tone was light, the anger slowly ebbing away.
"Love you too, kiddo," Riku replied, giving her a reassuring smile. Despite their clan differences, he had always been like an older brother to her, and moments like these reminded her of how much she valued their bond.
Just as the mood began to lighten, a distant voice called out, "Riku! Mr Togami is ready to see you now."
Riku glanced toward the door and then back at Hannah. "Looks like duty calls," he said, rising to his feet. "Hang in there, alright? Try not to get into any more trouble."
Hannah rolled her eyes but couldn't help a small smile. "No promises."
Riku chuckled, ruffling her hair one last time. "Take care, kiddo. I'll see you around."
With that, he headed towards the door, pausing briefly to give her a reassuring look before stepping out into the hallway. The room felt emptier without him, the warmth of their brief conversation lingering in the air. Hannah watched him go, a mix of fondness and frustration swirling within her. Despite the aggravating encounter with Fuyuhiko, Riku's visit had softened the edges of her anger.
Left alone, Hannah slumped back against the cushions, her mind drifting to the confrontation earlier. The tension between her and Fuyuhiko was palpable, but maybe, just maybe, there was a chance they could find some common ground. If Riku trusted him, there had to be something more to Fuyuhiko than his infuriating demeanor.
Still, she had no intention of making things easy for him. With a determined huff, she decided to focus on her studies, trying to push thoughts of Fuyuhiko to the back of her mind. But even as she did, the memory of his smirk and the sound of his teasing voice lingered, refusing to be fully banished.
