"Hey," you said, as you approached the black haired male.

"You actually showed up," he shifted his gaze from his phone, locking his eyes with yours.

"What's that supposed to mean?" you spoke, folding your arms.

"Interpret it how you wish," the tone of his voice was persistent.

He spoke again.

"There's a small park about a ten minute walk from campus, it's quite secluded and makes for good photos so I figured we could start there, "

You nodded your head, "Sure, that works,"

"Great," he started walking, leaving you trailing slightly behind him.

❥︎

The awkward silence on the way over was unbearable.

So you attempted to start conversation.

"Tomioka?" you spoke.

You watched as his shoulders tensed ever so slightly as he glanced at you from the corner of his eye.

"What are you majoring in?"

"English," he responded, shifting his head forward once more.

"Cool," you shoved your hands in the pockets.

Silence again.

You fisted around with the random things in your pockets which only really ranged from hairbands to the odd reciept.

You bit the inside of your cheek, waiting for something, anything that proved that the atmosphere between you would improve.

You tried starting conversation again.

But no such luck.

All you seemed to be getting from him was short, one word responses, so in the end, you gave up and accepted the awkward silence.

Shortly afterwards, Giyuu came to halt in front of a rather small park which was filled with beautiful trees and flowers.

"This is gorgeous," you spoke, as you removed your hands from your pockets, allowing you arms to once again hang by your sides.

"Yeah I come here a lot," he responded, his eyes focusing on what was ahead of him.

As you walked through the gates next to Giyuu, the aroma of flowers danced through your senses.

"Where did you want to start?" you asked him.

"I don't mind L/n you can choose," his voice was softer this time as his eyes scanned your face.

You gave him a subtle smile and dragged him to all the different places you thought would be good references for art and what would look good in the portfolio you and Giyuu would have to put together at one point.

As you ran around to different plants and trees, the atmosphere between you lightened. Not a lot, but it was better than nothing.

"Didn't our professor say we had to get some shots of actual people too?"

"Yeah he did," you said, as you looked over the photos you had already taken.

"We don't have to do it straight away though, I'm sure Mitsuri and the others would be willing to help if I asked them nicely," you chuckled softly.

"Great" he said, as you handed him back his camera.

It was a surprisingly hot afternoon and as you left the park with Giyuu, you began to realise how dehydrated you were from the heat.

You pinched the bridge of your nose and rubbed your forhead as you felt a rather strong headache coming on.

"L/n?" Giyuu asked, taking in the sudden distress that painted your face "are you okay?"

You forced a nod.

"Yeah I'm just a little dehydrated,"

"There's a small shop like two minutes away from here, maybe you could get some water or something,"

"I didn't bring any money with me," you stated, head still in your hands.

"I'll buy you something," he offered.

"You don't have to do that,"

"L/n don't be stubborn," he gave you a look.

"I get we've never really gotten along but that doesn't mean I want you to die from dehydration," he reached into his pocket as you approached a small cafe.

He opened the door for you, allowing you to enter first. You swiftly made your way to the fridge that sat in the corner of the cafe and grabbed the first bottle of water, which, thankfully was chilled.

It was pretty much empty, so Giyuu waited for you near the cash register.

As promised, he payed for the water and within minutes, you already felt a lot better.

The rest of the walk back, was better than the walk there, Giyuu was a little more talkative and conversations were slowly becoming a bit more natural between you and less forced like they used to be.

As you arrived back on campus and walked back up the path that led you directly in front of the photography block, Giyuu kept glancing at you, the corner of his mouth curving up just a fraction.

It was nearly 6pm and you didn't want to leave Mitsuri hanging for too long, the warm late summers breeze that originally brushed through your hair had cooled down a little, leaving the air slightly crisp and cool.

"See you around then L/n," he said softly "Let me know when you're free again so we can take more photos and possibly edit them at one point,"

"Yeah okay, I will," you responded, a lot more relaxed than you had been.

❥︎

As you arrived back the dorm, Mitsuri was no where to be found, but she had left a note next to a bowl of pasta that was still steaming.

Sorry I'm out with Obanai, I left you food though! ☺︎︎❤︎

You smiled to yourself and ate the pasta she had left for you, which tasted surprisingly good.

After eating, you curled up on your bed, and put your favourite show on, hardly paying attention to the opening credits as you thought about how university life was like so far.

Your classes were already great and you had already met amazing people.

And, everything between you and Giyuu, seemed to be improving.

Slowly, but surely.
