Your stomach plummeted to the floor as he said that last bit, and a large mixture of emotions ran through you.
You felt like an idiot, partially.
The curtains of the stage opened speedily, and you watched your best friend dance across the stage so elegantly and time with the music.
Her piece specially received a standing ovation that even Giyuu joined in to.
By the end of the show, you were tired, and the place began to fill up with people even more.
Giyuu interlocked your fingers as he guided you through the sea of people, where Mitsuri was waiting on the other side.
"So you don't get lost," he assured, causing a small smile to tug at the corner of your lips.
"You did so good!" You pulled the girl into a tight squeeze.
"Yeah, good job, Kanroji," Giyuu agreed.
"Awh thanks you guys," she subtly glanced down to yours and Giyuu's hands.
"Are you coming home now?" you asked.
"Me and my dance group are going out to eat, so I'll be home later,"
"Okay, well, have fun! I'll see you later,"
"Bye y/n!!" The girl ran off to rejoin the group of people.
"I'll walk you home," Giyuu suggested.
-
"She's quite the performer," Giyuu stated as you walked down the path that led out the dance hall.
"Isn't she just," you agreed.
"Are you hungry?" Giyuu asked.
"A little, but I figured I'd just try and cook when I get home,"
"Key word L/n, try," he responded, referring to when your kitchen nearly burned down when you tried to use the oven.
"It was an accident!" You shrugged.
"I'll cook for you," the boy suggested.
"Oh?"
"What? Do you think I can't cook well?"
"No, I just wasn't expecting it. What else can you do, Tomioka?"
"Wouldn't you like to know," his hands slipped into his pockets.
Speechless, once more.
"What do you feel like?" he asked.
"You choose,"
"Stir fry?"
He agreed, and before you knew it, you were back in your dorm.
"Can I help?" you asked.
He beckoned you over.
"How well can you cut vegetables?"
"Well enough," you picked up the knife and began slicing the vegetables that sat on the chopping board in a...questionable way, only for Giyuu to look at you in shock
"L/n..." he positioned himself behind you and placed his hands over yours.
A shiver crawled down your spine at the sudden contact.
He removed his hand and let you continue chopping whatever was there, slightly more impressed this time.
He finished adding the last few ingredients before turning the heat down.
"Now we let it cook," he leaned against your kitchen counter.
You pushed yourself up so you were sitting on the counter, legs dangling.
"Aren't you tired?" you asked.
Giyuu shook his head, refusing to break eye contact. It was gentle, the way he'd look at you.
It wasn't even that late, but you felt lethargic. You contemplated falling asleep right there on the kitchen counter, but someone's presence made you think otherwise.
It didn't take long for the food to be ready, and when it was, you wasted no time in eating it like it was your meal on earth.
Giyuu watched in disbelief. "L/n, I'm starting to think you're malnourished."
You frantically shook your head, denying it the best you could.
As expected, you fell asleep shortly afterwards. A little unsure of what to do, Giyuu draped a blanket over your sleeping figure.
He didn't exactly want to leave you, so he placed himself on the other end of the sofa and turned the TV on, quietly.
You woke up an hour or so later, around 10 pm. Giyuu hadn't left and was still fairly close to you, reading a book.
You sat up and rubbed your eyes.
"You're awake," he muttered, lifting his head up from the book.
You mumbled a few words before leaning down, smacking your head against the pillow.
He scooched over next to you.
"Shouldn't you go home now?" you grumbled.
"Would you like me to go home?"
You shook your head and rested it on his shoulder, and Giyuu made no attempt to move you.
He let you rest there for a few minutes before you nearly fell asleep again.
"It's getting late L/n I'm gonna head back now, okay?"
No response.
You looked peaceful, so Giyuu let you be, but just before he left, he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
-
Sunday morning came quick enough, and you woke up alone, under the impression that Mitsuri slept over at Obanai's again.
The fridge was empty, so you got dressed quickly and made your way down to one of the shops on campus.
The fresh air was a nice way to wake up properly, especially considering how well you slept.
Giyuu's presence was something you yearned to be around. You felt safe with him.
"Hey, you," an all too familiar voice called out quietly.
"Hey yourself," you smiled.
"Did you sleep alright after I left?"
You nodded your head before grabbing a carton of eggs from the shelf in front of you.
"Don't burn the kitchen down," a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
You raised your eyebrows and gave him a 'look' before making your way over to the cashier.
Giyuu walked out of the shop with you.
"I'll see you around L/n,"
You felt your heart swell up as you made your way back.
And as you finished cooking, your scrambled eggs, you realised how much you really cared for him.
