A loud signal echoed throughout the Domo, gaining everyone's attention from what they were doing, to stare at the holograph of the Earth in the center of the room. Sersi rushed in with Ikaris right behind her.
"It's started," you muttered, squinting to get a better look.
Phastos rushed to the center, "Oh, no. My God,"
"What about the UniMind?" Sersi asked.
"I haven't figured out a way to connect us, but I'm close. I'm very, very close," he insisted.
"How much longer?"
"I don't know, Sersi!" he snapped, anxiety rising within him.
An orange shadow began to spread over the holograph of the Earth. Phastos grabbed a device and place it in Makkari's hands, leaning down to whisper down his words to make her listen to the vibrations of his voice clearly, "Find the point of emergence,"
Nodding, Makkari rushed out of the room with her superspeed, leaving you to stay behind in the room with Phastos, Kingo, Druig, and Sprite while Ikaris walked away without a word and Sersi probably went after him.
Couple of minutes later, Ikaris stormed in, wearing his blue-and-yellow armour and fired a laser beam directly at Phastos.
You ran over to aid Phastos up as Kingo stood up from his seat in alarm, "Boss, what are you doing?"
"I've let this go on long enough," Ikaris stated.
"Don't hurt him!" Sersi pushed behind him to help you with Phastos.
"What are you talking about?" you narrowed your eyes at Ikaris.
"He lied to us," Sersi stepped forward, glaring at him, "He already knew about the emergence,"
Ikaris's eyes began to gather tears, but he managed to hold them back with a cold expression.
"No, he didn't," Kingo argued.
"Ajak told me everything when we left Babylon," Ikaris admitted.
"What?"
"You were never gonna let us stop the emergence," Phastos had a look of realization.
"No," Ikaris confessed, "I only wanted to protect you from the Deviants,"
"If Ajak wanted you to take her place, why did she choose me?" Sersi questioned, voice quivering.
When Ikaris remain silent, you inhaled sharply, "What did you do?"
"He killed her," Druig spoke up, after having a peek into his mind.
Ikaris shook his head, "I had to,"
Sersi shuddered, gulping, "She loved you."
"Did she?"
"She loved you."
"Do you think it was easy to live with the truth? To know that one day all this would end? To keep on lying to you?" Ikaris's eyes were red from his tears, "If we gave humanity the choice, how many of them would be willing to die so that billions more could be born,"
"We're not giving them a choice," Phastos interrupted, "Is this why you're willing to kill? You are so pathetic!"
"I'm an Eternal, Phastos," Ikaris looked up at him, "I exist for Arishem. As do you. It's who you are,"
"I wouldn't change a single thing about who I am," Phastos shouted, overcome by emotion, "Born or made. But I do not exist for Arishem, I exist for my family!"
"Then you are making the same mistake Ajak did."
Makkari sprinted back into the room with a grin, unaware to the new tension in the room, "I found Tiamut,"
"No!" Phastos shouted seeing that Ikaris was about to shoot her with an energy beam.
"Makkari!" Kingo threw himself to block the energy beam and rolled on the ground, causing Makkari to kneel down to help him, "Get out of here!" he told her, groaning.
Makkari frowned, but didn't question further and rushed out of the room at once.
"Kingo," Ikaris took a step forward.
Panting, Kingo held up a cosmic blast between his fingers threateningly, "You do not turn against your family,"
"Gilgamesh died because of you," your spoke, voice thick with grief.
"You won't succeed against me," Ikaris announced, "I will kill every one of you if I have to,"
Sersi was crying softly; Ikaris turned to catch her eye, but didn't dare look in his direction. He began to walk out, heading for the long hallway.
"Wait," Sprite spoke up, striding towards him, "I'm going with you,"
"Sprite—"
Thena entered the room with a confused expression, noticing the tension, "What is this?"
Ikaris was about to shoot a laser at her, but Sprite waved her hands up and this made both her and Ikaris disappear in a flock of birds. Everyone stared at the spot they shimmered away with in shock, unable to process what had happened.
Makkari returned, "Why did Sprite go with Ikaris?"
"Because she loves him. Oh, you guys didn't pick up on that?" Kingo looked from one to another as you all had surprised looks, "He really fooled us, didn't he?" he turned to his valet, "Karun, let's go,"
"Wait, where the hell are you going?" Phastos inquired.
"I can't help you guys. I still think Ikaris is right,"
"So, that's it, huh? Just gonna follow him?"
"I love the people of this planet. But if you stop this emergence, you are preventing so many other worlds like this one from being created. I still have faith in Arishem. But I refuse to hurt any of you for my beliefs,"
Makkari caught him by his shoulder, "We need you,"
"Kingo," you uttered his name, silently pleading as you locked eyes with him.
"Even with my help, we're no match," Kingo responded, "It's Ikaris. But—I hope to see you on the next planet,"
As Kingo walked away, Karun tured to face everyone, holding his hands together as he got emotional, "Thank you for all you've done—for humanity," he spoke in Hindi, "It's been a great honor," he sniffed, "I will miss you all,"
"Look, if I'm gonna get myself killed going up against Ikaris," Druig spoke up, "We'll need to have a backup plan,"
"All of our powers, even if they're amplified, are not enough to kill a Celestial, so," Phastos trailed.
"Well, Sersi did turn a Deviant into a tree," You thought out loud.
"I'm sorry, what? You didn't wanna tell me that?" he raised his eyebrows, "Why do you people keep leaving me out of the important stuff?"
"You've never been able to do it before," Makkari signed it to her.
"I don't know how it happened, okay?"Sersi stared down to her feet, "And I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it again,"
"Well, now is the time to try, don't you think?" Phastos prompted.
"Phastos, that Deviant is dead. Our plan is to put Tiamut to sleep, not to kill it. I can't kill a Celestial,"
"Sersi. Sersi,"
"We can't!" she snapped, slowly raising her head to look up at him, "We can't,"
"It's okay, Sersi," Druig consoled, "I got this,"
