"Nice kill Iwaizumi!" I couldn't help but cheer as he hit it on the other side making a loud 'bang' noise.

"Oi Naka-San why can't you cheer for me too," Tanaka whines giving me puppy dog eyes.

I laugh at the Karasuno second year who was on the other side of the court. "That's because I don't go to your school!" I shout back earning a pout from Tanaka.

The score was 23-12 with Seijoh in the lead. It wasn't that Karasuno was doing bad... it was Hinata's nerves that was affecting the team.

After a nice kill from Tanaka the score was 23-13

"Who's serving next?" Daichi asks only to turn around his eyes widening.

It was Hinata's turn.

Oh no.

"Don't stress Hinata you got this!" I sympathize sending words of encouragement to the trembling orange haired boy.

My nerves only become worse as he slowly walks to the back of the court.

Hinata nods at me still shaking as the ref blows the whistle scarring him to which he tosses the ball frantically in the air.

Hinata weirdly hits it knowing that it wasn't going to go over. But what made it worse was when it didn't hit the ground but instead hit someone.

Kageyama.

The entire gym goes silent as everyone looks back and forth between the setter and Hinata who was more scared than ever.

This is not good.

Of course my stupid self  allows quiet giggle to escape my lips as I try to hold it in. But Tanaka and Tsukishima did the exact opposite.

"O-oi n-nice headshot bro!" Tanaka chokes out between laughs making me laugh a bit louder.

Tsukishima on the other hand was laughing as well adding to the wing spiker's words.

Kageyama ignores the two laughing boys as he glares at Hinata slowly walking up to him.

Hinata's feet stay planted on the floor not even being able to move as he looks at the angry  raven haired boy.

Inches apart I watch as he whispers something to Hinata who only shivers in response.

"Hurry up and go back to normal dumbass!" Kageyama suddenly yells pointing to the court to which Hinata looks up at him frightfully.

Well, after that interesting scene Seijoh wins the first set by a landslide.

Going into the second, Karasuno was able to get back in groove Hinata making the quicks Kageyama sent his way shocking the opposing team.

With Karasuno winning the second set the boys were chugging their water as they started coming up with a strategy on how to stop the little first year.

Screams suddenly fill  the gym causing everyone to turn around.  Casually walking in Oikawa sends smiles to his fans waving back at them.

"Yaho!" The setter smiles waving at both teams.

"The Great King?!" Hinata exclaims staring wide eyed at Oikawa.

The Great King?

"Oh Oikawa your here. Warm up," Coach tells him to which he nods happily setting his bag down.

After the water break the third set began the score staying close for almost the entire match.

I notice Kindaichi getting frustrated at the freak quicks, to which he slammed the ball harder than usually muttering something gaining Seijoh another point.

The score was 24-21 with Karasuno at match point.

The ref blows the whistle as Oikawa waltzes in getting ready to serve.

Using him for his serves at a time like this... smart.

"You could have all the offensive power in the world," Oikawa grins gaining everyone's attention, "but it wouldn't mean a thing if you never got to attack."

With that the ref blows the whistle Oikawa tossing the ball high up in the air.

Here it comes.

He runs up to the ball hitting it at full force directing it to Tsukishima.

He figured out who was weak at receives. I thought to myself thinking back to when I played with  glasses boy a few days ago.

With the immense power the ball had Tsukishima wasn't able to rececive the ball resulting in it going out of bounds.

A slight frown forms on my face as I felt bad that Oikawa was purposely picking on Tsukishima due to his lack of skills in receives.

"So I was right, number 5 and 6 are weak with receives," Oikawa smirks looking at both boys. "Assuming your first years."

Blowing the whistle again Oikawa gains another point for Seijoh as Tsukishima fails to receive the ball again.

24-23

I look to Karasuno's side to see Daichi talking to the first year to which he nods in response moving a bit further back.

"Oikawa-San is so good!"

"He's the best!"

Girls screech even louder over the brown haired boy as he winks at them before getting ready to serve.

Daichi's advice worked as Tsukishima received the serve sending it to Kageyama's way.

He swiftly and at a fast speed sends it to Hinata's direction who slams the ball onto the other side of the court passing Oikawa. To which I may say was stunned.

That was game.

The Karasuno boys erupt in cheers but I couldn't help but slightly smile too but still feel  bad for Seijoh.

After bowing for a good match they begin to clean up the gym also changing back into their regular attire.

Putting the volleyballs away I felt a buzz come from my pocket. Grabbing my phone i read a text from my mum.

Will be home late. Walk home :)

I sigh as I type back to her putting my phone back in my jean pocket afterwards.

"You alright?" A voice asks causing me to meet eye to eye with Iwaizumi.

"Yea I am, just have to walk home today since my mom will be home late," I tell him.

"Oh which way do you go?" He asks.

"I go East"

"Oh me too. Do you want to walk with Oikawa and I?"

My eyes widen at his question a small grin on my lips. "Y-Yea sure that would be nice."

He nods in response calling at Oikawa who was talking to his fan girls.

"Are you the ace Oikawa-San?"

"I mean you should be considering you're the best!" Another girl exclaims.

The setter scratches the back of his neck laughing. "Oh uh no my position usually isn't the ace. Only spikers can have the name."

The girls both frown at his response. "Oh wow that sucks," One states.

My eyes look to see Iwaizumi slightly frowning in the direction of the two girls and Oikawa.

But before I could ask him about it he calls on the setter telling him that we have to go.

"So Naka-Chan what did you think of my amazing skills?" Oikawa asks proudly as we walk outside.

"Pfft you barely played Shittykawa," I retort looking at the brown eyed boy.

"Iwa-Chan look what you've done to her!" Oikawa whines at the name I called him.

"She's only speaking facts Oikawa," Iwaizumi mumbles looking down the street.

I giggle at his response to which Oikawa's mood changes back to a smile. "You have a very pretty laugh Naka-Chan."

My cheeks turn red at his compliment as I look down at the pavement. "Aww thanks Oikawa,"

He only smirks back in response looking at me then back at the road.

I heard Iwaizumi mutter something and look up to him. "What did you say Iwaizumi?"

He looks at me before muttering 'nothing' his expression not changing.

Weird.

"Well here's my stop, see you guys tomorrow!" Oikawa waves energetically as he jogs towards his front door.

"Bye!" I shout.

"So how much further down do you live?" I ask turning to Iwaizumi.

"Uhh around 5 more minutes. How about you?" He asks as we continue to walk.

"Another ten minutes," I tell him.

He nods in response as we silently walk down the road making small talk once in a while.

I wanted to ask him about before but decided against it.

Nearing Iwaizumi's house I feel a raindrop fall to my head then followed by a hard rainfall.

"The weather channel never said it was going to rain," I weep as both of us begin to get soaked.

At this Iwaizumi grabs my wrist jogging in the direction of his house.

Even with the cold water hitting my skin my body was still hot from Iwaizumi holding my wrist.

Quickly unlocking the door to his house we both go in shivering at our drenched selves.

"Well isn't this great," I mutter my body trembling, water dropping to the hardwood floor.

"Oh let me get you a towel, one second." With that Iwazumi jolts upstairs letting go of my wrist coming back down in record time as he passes me a towel.

"Thanks," I lightly smile drying myself off as much as possible as he does so as well.

"Well looks like I can't go home anytime soon," I admit looking out the window to see a thunderstorm arising.

"I guess you could stay the night then," Iwaizumi asks nervously not wanting to make it uncomfortable.

"U-uh ye-yeah. I'll text my mum," I stutter grabbing my phone from my bag.

Hi mum there's a thunderstorm and I don't think I can make it home tonight. Staying over at a friends house nearby.

Looking up from my phone I notice the black haired boy gone and curiously follow the wet footprints leading to the kitchen.

"I'm making tea, would you like some?" He asks his back facing towards me as he boils water.

"Yea sure that would be nice," I say sitting on one of the chairs. "Where are your parents by the way?"

"Oh uh they're on a business trip so won't be back till next week," He says.

Silence fills the room as he puts two tea bags in cups and pours the boiling water in.

"So-uh is it alright if I could take a shower?" I nervously ask biting the bottom of my lip.

Iwaizumi turns to face me handing the cup of tea. "Yea sure that's fine. I'll lend you some clothes."

I nod in response taking a sip of the hot tea that brought warmth to my body.

After we both finished it in comfortable silence I follow Iwaizumi upstairs to his room which was quite plain.

There weren't many things except for a few pictures of his family and the volleyball team.

He opens his closet grabbing a hoodie that I knew for a fact was going to be way too big for me and a pair of black shorts.

"Thanks," I smile grabbing the clothes in his hands as I walk towards the washroom.

After taking a quick hot shower I dry myself off putting on the clothes which may I add were very comfortable and smelled like him.

Taking out my contacts I put my glasses on exiting the bathroom only to be met with a shirtless Iwaizumi.

Oh my god.

I stare at his body for god knows how long before I hear him let out a cough breaking my trance.

My face heats up to the point where I could feel myself beginning to sweat as I turn around not wanting him to see my face.

"O-oh sorry I didn't hear you coming out," He stutters.

I only nod in response trying to control my breathing. I eventually hear the door close and turn back to see him gone.

Well that was embarrassing and a picture that'll be stuck in my mind for a long time.

Ren calm down! I lightly slap myself.

Taking a deep breath I grab my wet clothes placing it in a plastic bag. I then walk towards his bed plopping myself on it.

As I wait for Iwaizumi to come back I check my phone to see a reply from my mom and a text from the Akari and Hina group chat.

Mum: Oh where? Hina's or Akari's?

I bit on my lip nervously as I type my reply

No, Iwaizumi's. The boy you saw me talking to a while back.

My mum reads the response as she types back.

Ohh okay, stay safe. Use protection!

I blush at her text as I quickly switch to the group chat.

To: Girlies

Hina: How was the game Ren?

Me: They lost, but very interesting to watch.

Akari: Aww that sucks. Did you get home safe? There's a big thunderstorm.

Ren: Ahh no I'm actually staying over at Iwaizumi's for the night because we both got drenched.

Hina: WHAAAT!!!!

Akari: YES GIRL GET IT!

Ren: Guys... it's not like that.

Akari: Use protection!

Hina: Uhuh alright then Ren... ;)

Me: Why do I tell you both these things.

Hina: Because you loveee us

Akari: Hehe :)

Ren: ...

I suddenly hear the door open revealing a now clothed Iwaizumi who had a plate with food on it.

Kinda miss him shirtleβ€”stop it Ren!

"I'm assuming your hungry, so I brought some food," He says placing it on the bed side table.

"Oh uh thanks," I smile grabbing a milk bun taking a bite.

I look up from my milk bun to see Iwaizumi staring at me his face turning a light shade of red. "You okay?"

"U-uh yea I'm good," He says sitting right beside me on his bed. "Did your mom respond?"

I look at the close distance between us and only nod in response.

Get it together Ren!

Once again silence fills the room as we both eat the snacks looking at anywhere but each other.

My eyes wander to a photo of Oikawa and Iwaizumi. Oikawa is holding an award in his hand the read 'player of the day' with Iwaizumi beside him holding a volleyball.

He notices me staring at the photo an unknown emotion on his face.

"That was taken in middle school after a volleyball tournament," Iwaizumi speaks up and I turn to face him, shifting on the bed. "He won the player of the entire day out of all teams there, but why wouldn't he, he is the best."

I frown at Iwaizumi's thinking back to the scene in the gym. "I'm not even a worthy ace" I hear him quietly mumble barely audible.

"What do you mean?," I finally speak up causing him to look from the ceiling to meet my eyes.

Iwaizumi lets out a sigh his face hardening. "All my life I've been behind Oikawa's shadow being known as the 'unworthy ace.' The one who doesn't meet the skill level of one."

I think back to the girls praising Oikawa. "I noticed your frown when those girls were talking to Oikawa about being the ace and all," I admit. "I will say he is a fantastic player."

Iwaizumi's frown deepens avoiding eye contact.

"But your even better," I say to which he looks back to me again his eyes widening. "Yes the name of the ace could only go to a spiker, but you were chosen as that role for a reason. You add so much versatility to the team and you don't even realise it."

"I understand the feeling of trying to live up to peoples expectations..." I trail off my eyes becoming glossy. "For almost my entire life I was always compared to my fa-father who was an exceptional player. People would say things like 'is she even his daughter?' or 'she's not good enough' only pushing me to practice more to a point where I almost broke myself. But I later on realized that I shouldn't care of what others think of me and that I should only please myself and not others."

I didn't  even realize that tears were falling down my cheek to which I quickly wipe them away.

"For gods sake I don't even know where that failure of a father is!" I choke out looking up at the ceiling.

I then feel myself being pulled into a warm embrace my body relaxing itself.

"Your an amazing player Naka, don't ever forget that," Iwaizumi whispers in my ear sending shivers down my body.

"Ditto," I retort causing him to let out of one his rare laughs.

Breaking up the warm embrace the ace gives me a tissue to which I take wiping the remaining tears.

"Let's go to sleep," He says and I nod.

"I have to go the washroom, I'll be right back," I tell him walking up to my bag and grabbing it as I enter the bathroom.

I set it on the counter opening it up looking for the specific orange bottle.

But I couldn't find it.

Hastily I begin to take my belongings out of my bag trying to look for the pills that helped me sleep at night, but no avail.

"Shit," I mutter my hands beginning to shake.

"Hey you alright in there?" Iwaizumi asks in a concerning tone.

"Uh yea I'm fine!" I yell back stuffing my things back quickly.

What am I going to do now?

Grabbing my backpack in defeat I open the washroom doors placing my bag on the side as I walk up to the bed lying down.

I could feel Iwaizumi's gaze lingering on me the entire time but don't question it.

He then does the same but on the futon beside me turning the lights off in the process.

Taking off my glasses I place them on the bedside table covering myself in the blankets.

"Goodnight Iwaizumi," I let out almost nervously closing my eyes.

"Goodnight Naka... and thanks for the advice," He says back making me smile.

"No problem," I mumble as I feel myself falling asleep scared of what's to possibly come...
