Mingi came out of his lesson exhausted. He loved his professor and all the material they were going over and yet he was exhausted every time class ended.

He left the class while trying to stuff something into his backpack. When he finally made it and looked up again, he recognized two familiar faces standing in front of the building talking. He had to smile and with his heart beating fast, he tried to leave the building as quickly as possible.

The cool autumn air hit him, but today the sun was shining for the first time in days. The weather was also reflected in Mingi's mood and with a huge smile he walked to the two men. From a distance, Mingi could already see that they were also in a good mood and laughing. He took a deep breath. Even though he and Yunho knew each other better by now, he was incredibly nervous every time he saw him.

"Yunho," he said in a loud voice and the taller of the two turned around. The corners of his mouth went up even higher when he saw Mingi. "Hey, we've been waiting for you." Mingi looked at him, slightly surprised, then at Hongjoong. "We wanted to go out for something to eat, do you want to join us?" Mingi looked at Hongjoong again to make sure it was really okay. Hongjoong just smiled at him and Mingi realized that it was a serious smile. "Yeah, sure," he finally said. He would never have been able to refuse Yunho anything anyway.

~

A little later, when they were all sitting together at the table, Mingi remembered Wooyoung's words from the morning. He looked at Yunho, who was engrossed in the menu.

"Uhm, so..." he said, clearing his throat. Yunho immediately gave him his full attention and his look alone made Mingi so nervous that he almost forgot what he wanted to say. "Wooyoung, my best friend, is meeting his boyfriend later in the café at our university. And he asked if I wanted to come with you."

Mingi fiddled with his sweater sleeve. Yunho's dark eyes lit up. "Oh yes, I'd love to come with you," he said euphorically. Mingi was about to rejoice, but Yunho's gaze shifted to Hongjoong and his smile faded. "Shit, we were supposed to do something today, weren't we?"

Hongjoong to his right shook his head quickly. "Don't worry, we can postpone it. Go ahead." Yunho looked at him a little sadly and nodded slightly. Then he looked back at Mingi. "Just come with us." Mingi suddenly gushed. He shouldn't really care if Hongjoong was sad, but somehow he was still worried about him. And he wished that they could become friends again.

"No, I'd rather not," Hongjoong said and laughed lightly. "I don't want to disturb your double date." Mingi crossed his arms. "You don't. Wooyoung said that another friend of theirs was coming. It wouldn't just be the four of us anyway." Yunho's expression became more enthusiastic again and he nodded excitedly at Hongjoong. "Yes, please come with us."

He looked at Hongjoong expectantly, but he still didn't seem convinced. "I would be happy if you were there. You can also meet new people. I know that you love things like this," Mingi said. Yunho smiled at him because he knew how convincing Mingi was. Hongjoong finally gave in and nodded. "Okay okay, I'll come with you." Yunho clapped his hands excitedly and Mingi started to grin.

~

"There you are finally," Wooyoung complained as Mingi entered the café. Yunho appeared behind him and then Hongjoong. Wooyoung walked up to them and took Mingi in his arms. Then he grinned at Yunho and hugged him too. "I'm glad you made it." He said. Finally, he turned to Hongjoong, who was standing close to the door and looking around uncertainly. "And nice that you're here too," Wooyoung said, patting him on the back.

While Yunho and Mingi walked further into the café and sat down at a table, Wooyoung held Hongjoong. "Now that you're here, I want to introduce you to someone." Wooyoung put on his mischievous smile and pulled Hongjoong with him.

They stopped in front of the counter where San gave his boyfriend a questioning look. "This is Hongjoong." Wooyoung spoke extra loudly so that Seonghwa, who was standing behind San making coffee, could also hear.

San knew that Wooyoung was up to something and shook his head. Seonghwa appeared behind San and Wooyoung looked at him excitedly. "And this is Seonghwa and San. They own the café." Overwhelmed, Hongjoong nodded. He wanted to pull away but Wooyoung continued to hold him.

"San is my boyfriend, by the way. But our dear Seonghwa is single and looking for someone." Seonghwa's eyes widened as if Wooyoung had just embarrassed him. San grabbed Wooyoung's arm. "That's enough baby." he admonished him. Wooyoung started to blush and finally let go of Hongjoong.

Totally preoccupied with San, he forgot about the other two and they went to the table where Yunho and Mingi were sitting. Hongjoong wanted to follow him but a voice stopped him. "I've never seen you here before," Seonghwa said and smiled. Hongjoong looked at him and was unusually nervous. "Yes, well, I... um... I'm not the coffee type," he stuttered and blushed instantly.

Seonghwa was still smiling. A smile that lit up the whole room. "We also have other things. What do you like? Tea? Juice? Water? Or something to eat?" Hongjoong looked at the others sitting at the table, who were engrossed in a conversation. "Juice." he then mumbled in Seonghwa's direction.

"Okay, sit down, I'll make you one," Seonghwa urged him, pointing to the chair at the counter. Hongjoong followed his words. "Do you like cake or something with it?" he asked and Hongjoong shook his head. "No thanks."

A short time later, Seonghwa pushed a glass towards him, then rested his arms on the counter and looked at Hongjoong attentively. "So you're going to university too?" Hongjoong nodded and took a sip. "Which major?" Seonghwa asked with interest. "Fashion design. Last year." Hongjoong explained. Seonghwa's eyes widened barely visibly. "That's so interesting. I love fashion so much." Finally, Hongjoong started to smile and relaxed a little.

~

"Believe me, they will hit it off," Wooyoung grinned and pointed to Hongjoong and Seonghwa, who were engrossed in a conversation and seemed to have forgotten the world around them.

Mingi shook his head. "You really had to play the match maker." Wooyoung nodded proudly. Mingi sighed and decided not to get upset. After all, they weren't alone and he didn't want to chase Yunho away. He looked happily at Yunho, who was already looking at him.

Under the table, he noticed how Yunho nudged him and held out his hand. Mingi got goose bumps and didn't hesitate for a second. Their fingers intertwined and a fire ignited in Mingi's chest. He would never have thought it was possible, but Yunho was the only one he could still see. He was his whole world.

~

"I brought your present, by the way," Wooyoung whispered to San. He giggled and held out his hands. "Give it to me," he urged him and Wooyoung laughed. "Close your eyes." San did as he asked. Wooyoung pulled something out of his pocket, then he grabbed San's hand and lowered something into it. San opened his eyes again and looked at the silver necklace that now shone in his hand.
Wooyoung smiled. "So you know who you belong to." San looked at him speechlessly and examined the necklace.

"I'm going to puke," Mingi suddenly intervened. Wooyoung stuck his tongue out at him. "You'll never get anything like that." Mingi crossed his arms. "I don't even want to." Yunho poked him in the side. "Are you sure?" he asked and Mingi's expression softened.

"Thank you Wooyoung. The necklace is so pretty," San explained and immediately put it on. Wooyoung smiled sheepishly because it went perfectly with San and his dark hair. San grabbed his hand, then kissed the back of his hand and smiled gratefully.

Wooyoung smiled too and looked at Yunho and Mingi who seemed happier than ever. He looked at Hongjoong and Seonghwa who were laughing and still busy with each other. Then he looked back at San, who was happily looking at his present. Everything at that moment was so perfect that it seemed like a dream. A dream that none of them ever wanted to wake up from...

Yeosang pressed the bell and clutched the bag in his hand even tighter. It was almost dark and he was so excited.

It took about a minute before the door finally opened and Jongho was beaming at him. "Come in," he said and Yeosang went up the last step. He took off his shoes and jacket in the entrance area. Jongho pointed at the bag. "What's inside?" he asked with a smile. Yeosang shook his head with a grin. "You'll see later."

Jongho made a pout, then leaned forward and pulled Yeosang to him. They shared a quick kiss and everything inside Yeosang tingled with excitement. Then Jongho pulled him into his arms as if they hadn't seen each other for weeks. Yeosang enjoyed the warmth of his embrace. Jongho's heartbeat pressed lightly against his own chest and his scent enveloped him like a bubble. Yeosang loved him so much that it was hard to let go of him.

~

"Are we alone?" Yeosang asked a short time later as they walked through the living room to the stairs. "Yep. Lia persuaded my parents to go out for dinner with her." Yeosang nodded with relief. He wanted to meet Jongho's parents, but he had to prepare himself mentally first.

"Did you two make up?" Yeosang continued to ask as they walked up the stairs. A sigh could be heard. "Yes, we've talked, but I think it'll be a while before things are like they used to be." Yeosang nodded appreciatively. He hoped that one day everything would be like before and he and Lia could be friends again.

They arrived at Jongho's room and Yeosang put the bag down. He loved this room more than anything. It was cozy, memories of Jongho hung everywhere and the keyboard gave the room a magical atmosphere.

"Have you been working on your song?" Yeosang asked as he spotted the many sheets of music notes on Jongho's desk. He knew that Jongho had been writing a song for a few weeks, but he had never shown Yeosang anything. Jongho nodded slightly. "Yes, it's almost ready, but I still have to change something."

Yeosang crossed his arms. "When will you let me hear it?" Jongho walked past Yeosang, tapping him on the nose. "A little more patience." Yeosang rolled his eyes but then smiled. Jongho pushed the sheets of music together on the desk and put them in a drawer. Then they flopped down on Jongho's bed.

"Now show me what's in the bag," Jongho spoke with a pout again and Yeosang felt the need to punch the bed. There was no one in the world who looked so cute. "Are you that curious?" he teased the older one.  Jongho nodded excitedly. Yeosang laughed. "Fine." He took the bag.

He had been working non-stop on this painting for the last few days and it was finally finished. He actually wanted to give it to Jongho for Christmas, but he couldn't wait any longer.

Wide-eyed, Jongho watched as Yeosang pulled a canvas out of the bag. Then Yeosang held it out to him and Jongho took it. His eyes widened a little more as he examined the picture closely. Yeosang watched him proudly.

The picture showed the lake and the tree in the park at the university. The place where it all began. The moon had been in the right-hand corner of the picture, reflecting its light on the water. It seemed just as bright as that night. In the middle of the picture, two people could be seen from behind. They were just silhouettes, but Yeosang could tell by the look on Jongho's face that the scene looked familiar to him.

"Is that us?" he asked, and Yeosang nodded with a smile. "The night you sent me there at midnight, remember?" Jongho giggled slightly. "I would never forget that," he remarked and his bright eyes wandered back to the picture. "It's so beautiful," he said, impressed.

"It's for you," Yeosang said. Jongho looked up again. "What? No, I can't accept that." Yeosang laughed. "Yes, I painted it just for you." Yeosang could see how touched Jongho was.

He placed the picture next to them on the mattress, then stretched out his arms. "Come here," he said in a shaky voice, as if he was about to cry. Yeosang didn't hesitate and slid closer so that they could hug. He closed his eyes. "I'm so glad to have you," he said. He felt a nod. "Me too."

Yeosang was happier than he had ever been and the happiness was growing every day. The happiness that only came through one person. Every one of his problems faded away. His every thought was veiled and shrouded in a pinkish red bubble. He knew it wouldn't always be like this and that conflicts would come their way in the future. That they wouldn't always spend as much time as they did now. But still, he knew that his feelings for Jongho would not change.

Jongho lightly stroked the back of Yeosang's head. "Yeosang?" he asked gently. "Yes?" Yeosang replied at least as softly. "This is just the beginning," he said. "The beginning of us," he added.

Yeosang knew he was right. It was just the beginning. The beginning of their story...
