"What's the story?"
Your lips formed a thin line as you heard the awaited question. You knew that question would be asked but that doesn't mean you were ready.
All eyes were on you as they all wait for your side of the story.
Kiyoomi wanted to know. You two haven't had the time to talk about when and where, or how and why and so, you now have his full attention.
"Well," you started nervously. "I started liking him when we were still in our first year. I had this headache but I never told anyone because I didn't want to be a bother.
"He stayed back, and he gave me his water bottle. He was really annoyed because my friends didn't noticed the headache. After that, I laughed at how he's being kind and annoyed at the same time.
"I knew him since our first day and I get why other students like him but he made me feel special because I knew that he's a germaphobe and I never really saw him care for anyone. I started to like him and the more I see him, it kind of just grew."
You were mindlessly staring at your food as you told the story. As you remembered that moments, you smiled. You will never forget that moment. That moment was beautiful.
As you look up, you were taken aback since everybody was looking at you.
"Oh, uhm, that's how I liked him..." you trailed off reluctantly. You really didn't know how to end that story.
"Waah!" His mother gushed. "Kiyoomi, you really did that?"
"That was... wow, he didn't even tell me that!" Komori shared.
You glanced at his father and you could swear that you saw a smile on his face but it was gone quickly.
How is Kiyoomi?
He's as red as his mother's lipstick.
"Good job, past self," he thought.
You smiled at all their comments of how sweet it is.
"You, what's your side?" His mother asked.
"School trip later school year. She was just being herself."
Komori's and Yuriko's face immediately fell. The difference in story telling was so big that they somehow felt betrayed.
However, you were ecstatic. "You like me from last school year too? That's amazing!"
Yuriko leaned in to whisper to Komori, "Is she, like, immune to him?"
"Somehow, auntie."
"Are you sure having a girlfriend isn't going to distract you, Kiyoomi?"
The excited atmosphere was shattered with his father's statement. The deliverance was so straightforward and cold.
Everyone, especially Kiyoomi, were shocked with that.
"What do you mean?" Kiyoomi asked. He stared at his father and his father stared back at him. Dark black eyes with growing intensity clashed.
Again, however, you were ecstatic.
The thing his mother said to you earlier was basis of why you think that that is actually a sweet statement. You figured that he knew Kiyoomi loves volleyball and having a girlfriend have good chances that it will distract him. He probably didn't want Kiyoomi to regret either because of losing one or if all goes wrong, both.
You said what you said to his mother, "I'm going to try my best to help him, sir!"
Kiyoomi looked at you, wondering why that's your reply. He saw the determination in your eyes and you didn't look nervous at all. You looked excited.
You noticed his gaze and so you looked at him. Noticing his confusion, you smiled brightly and made an 'ok' sign.
That calmed him down because he was about to talk back to his dad if he ever disapprove of you.
The rest of the evening went smoothly after that. Komori and Yuriko were still confused of that exchange but when you smiled at Kiyoomi, they also calmed down.
Kiyoomi's father?
He liked you for his son.
"I'm going back to the office."
Yuriko rolled her eyes at his husband. "You big softie," you heard her mutter.
You were now outside of the restaurant by their cars. Kurohito excused himself after kissing his wife's cheeks and whispering something that made her smile. He then proceeded to say goodbye to Komori and Kiyoomi.
"Come, you three," his mother called out to you and gestured at her car.
Komori sat in the front and you two were in the back. The moment you sat down, Kiyoomi quickly held your hands with his.
"I didn't know you liked me for that long," you told him.
"Komori mentioned that, didn't he?"
"Yeah, but I thought you liked me for, like, months. How cute, Omi."
"Don't call me that. I 'm still pissed at Atsumu."
You played with your hands intertwined as you laughed at him. He sounded so mad even if his face was still emotionless.
"Now, now, Kiyoomi, you should be nice to your friend. He seemed really fun."
"You go to him then," he mumbled, " actually, no. I'm just kidding. Don't go to him."
You pursed your lips as a way of stopping yourself from squealing.
"Yes, Kiyoomi, I won't."
He didn't reply and just stared at the zipping scenery. You told Yuriko where you live and minutes later, you were already by your house.
"Goodbye, Sakura! See you again soon!" Yuriko waved as you got out of the car.
"Bye, Kiyoomi's girlfriend, see you tomorrow!" Komori teased.
You waved and said goodbye. Kiyoomi offered to walk you to your gate. When you arrived, you stopped and faced Kiyoomi.
"I had fun today."
He pulled his mask down and smiled at you. "Me too, Sakura. Let's go on a date soon."
"That was smooth," you giggled, "but sure."
He noticed the blush on your face and he loved that he caused it.
"You'd like a smooth boyfriend, Sakura, hmm?" He teased with a smirk on his face.
"Yes, but it's probably not good for my heart."
He shook his head and chuckled. He was about to put his mask back up but you pointed at your cheeks.
"Huh?"
"Don't I deserve a kiss for being a great girlfriend and keeping my cool during dinner? Your dad was sooo intimidating!"
He looked away feeling embarrassed by your statement. He know that sooner or later, he's gonna have to get used to that kind of thing but doing it now, for the first time, is nerve racking.
But he still leaned in and instead of a kiss in the cheek, he kissed you on your forehead. Not a second even passed by before he pulled his mask up and said goodbye.
It was sudden, short, but it was a valuable moment for you. You smiled as you enter your house.
Komori and Yuriko saw everything and they were being excited like they were your fans in the car. They squealed and all.
[Hello,
I made a little something. This happened somewhere in this story. I can not, for the love of God, draw hands.]
