follow the hot Shadowhunter or stay to see Simon majorly fail at speaking to your sister," Brynne says as she looks at their surroundings, which consisted of darkness or trash bins having a fire started in them, not having noticed Alecs face heat up at her calling him hot "So while we are out here checking the perimeter if anything were to happen, you got my back and I got yours?"

Alec stops in his track letting his eyes wander to Brynne and look at her debating is he should agree or not. Brynne looks up at Alec, waiting for an answer but doesn't get one as he just turns back to checking the perimeter making Brynne take the silence as an agreement.

Alec and Brynne walk back towards the center of the City of Bones where Simon and Isabelle stood around alone, Jace and Clary no longer in sight. Simon seemed to be cold making Brynne use her magic to light an empty bin on fire, letting him warm his hands by the fire. Simon couldn't help but mumble a 'so cool' making Brynne smile

"So, is cracking someone's mind open supposed to take this long? Maybe we, or... you should go check?" Simon asks the shadowhunter siblings who were guarding the entrance as he still did not fully trust Jace and the whole plan

"Jace has it covered," Alec says not wanting to give Simon the time of day while Isabelle had other plans in mind.

"Take my word for it. The Silent Brothers are quite unpleasant" Isabelle says with a pout as she twirls a strand of her hair

"That's not helping. Not at all. What if Clary can't handle the Brothers? What does that—"

Before Simon can continue his rambling, Alec cuts him off "It literally never stops talking"

"Is he always so charming?" Simon asks Isabelle

"Firstborn. Heavy is the head that wears the crown" Isabelle says with a shrug of her shoulder

"Mmm. I feel his pain. Only son. Mother wants me to be a CPA" Simon shares trying to keep the conversation going instead of having to wait in a worrisome silence

"Hmm. And you? What do you want?" Isabelle asks Simon as she slowly walks toward him and at the seductive voice she was using Simon is taken by surprise

"Me? Um... well, I'm in a band" hearing those words come out of Simon's lips Brynne tries her best to ignore the conversation as she knew Simon telling girls that he is in a band was pick up line of sorts that he has tried

"Yeah? What type of music? Let me guess. Hmn," Isabelle says looking Simon up and down "Indie rock?"

With a bright smile, Simon answers her guess with a "yeah"

"Got anything on your phone?"

"I do. We recorded our last set. We killed it, it's..." Simon pats his pants pockets only to realize that he forgot his phone and he looks over to Brynne knowing she didn't go anywhere without hers but seeing as to how she was facing away from him he knew not to ask "I left my phone in the van"

"Let's go get it," Isabelle says and Simon agrees with her statement so he walks towards the van with Isabelle's hand on his shoulder

Alec not having been paying attention to the conversation sees Simon move in front of him so he asks his sister, "Where is it going?"

"We'll be right back."Isabelle says only to get a disapproving look from Alec "What? He passes the time"

"I can hear you guys, you know?"

Simon and Isabelle had left leaving Alec and Brynne alone and while Brynne had tried to start a conversation she soon gave up seeing as to how Alec was all about the mission at hand which for them involved waiting and to him no talking.

Jace and Clary walk out of the City of Bones making Brynne and Alec turn their attention quickly to them.

"What happened? What did you find out?" Alec asks Jace seeing as Clary no longer had her look of confidence that she did before entering

"Did you get your memories back?" Brynne asks Clary as she didn't like the frightened look on her best friend's face

"Valentine is Clary's father," Jace says making Brynne take a sharp intake knowing she had to get out before they can arrest her for something she didn't do, especially since they now know Valentine is alive and a father to Clary 

"Wait a minute. You're telling me this girl shows up out of nowhere and she's Valentine's daughter? Did it occur to you that she might be a spy? This might be part of her plan? She did bring with her a warlock with her after all" Alec argues as his dislike for Clary started to grow as he now saw her as more than just a liability

"That's enough, Alec," Jace says sternly as Clary was already in an emotional state and accusations weren't going to make the situation better, especially when the only person out of the three siblings who could handle emotions wasn't in the vicinity

"Do you think I planned for my mom to get kidnapped? O-or for Dot to be taken? Or to have my relationship with my best friend be based on lies?" Clary says looking over to Brynne with heartbreak and almost hate before turning back to Alec "Or to have a giant sword dangle over my head and find out that my father is one of the most dangerous people in the world? Really?"

Brynne raises her hands letting a gush of air and flair make its way towards the two Shadowhunters' mouths making them unable to speak. Brynne knew that everything she had been doing goes against the Accords but she didn't care. Brynne then raises a hand to take out her phone from her back pocket, drop it on the ground, and break it by stepping on it with the heel of her boot.

"What are you doing?" Clary asks afraid as to what Brynne had done to Jace as her hands were glowing. It wasn't a bright light or sparkles like Jace had explained warlocks to do magic as. Her hands started to emit a cloud of smoke that created a cloud of dark orange to take over her hands not too thick to make the rings on her hand disappear

"Making sure they can't stop me from leaving, I won't get the same luxuries as you Fray"

"So you're just going to run away?" Clary asks not to believe that Brynne was just about to walk away, especially now when she just found out that her mother lied about everything and was having a crisis

"You don't trust me anymore Fray, and this-" Brynne says with glossy eyes as she extends her arms at the fact they stood in a graveyard in the middle of the night as she used magic to stop the shadowhunters from trying to stop her "-was inevitable. You need to know I became your friend because I wanted to and not for any type of ulterior motive. Take care of Simon, okay? He isn't meant for this world"

Brynne turns around to open a portal, she turns to face the two shadowhunters and drops her spell. Before anyone can say a word, Brynne walks into the portal letting it close behind her. Leaving Clary in a daze only to be interrupted by Isabelle walking towards them and no Simon.

Clary not having yet fully processed what just happened and her mind goes toward Simon who she wasn't able to see making her worry, "Where's Simon? Where's Simon?"

"I told him to stay in the van," Isabelle says slightly out of breath as she had to break the bad news 

"He's gone?" Clary asks as she was so close to having a breakdown from all of the events happening in the past minutes

"I can't find him," Isabelle says as she shakes her head

"You were supposed to protect him!" Clary shouts at Isabelle disbelieve, the redhead then walks towards the van while shouting "Simon!"

"Ugh, these mundanes are killing me" Jace mumbles as he follows after Clary who was now running towards Simon's van only to be faced with the doors wide open and nobody inside

"Simon? No. Simon!" Clary shouts

"Is that the mundane's name?" A new voice shouts making the Shadowhunters turn around and look up to see a group of vampires. The one speaking for the group is Raphael as he holds Simon upside down "I'm afraid Simon's coming with us"

"No! No, he's not a part of this" Clary shouts at the group with tears falling down her face

Clary was ready to attack the group but Jace stops her from taking another step, "And it'll be my pleasure to kill you unless you return him"

"Careful. We'd be violating the Accords" Alec says still looking up at the group of vampires making Jace look at him as they were not on the same page

"I'm afraid your sidekick's quite right. The Night Children have broken no laws. We're negotiating. The mundane, unharmed, in exchange for the Mortal Cup. And the clock is ticking. Tick-tock, people" Raphael says explaining his terms while lifting Simon slowly up as he was getting ready to vamp speed away

"Clary!" Simon shouts but since he was vamp sped away his shout echoed

"Simon... no!" Clary shouts no longer being able to see her best friend "Simon! Simon! Simon! Simon!"
