Moving the two boys into one of the rooms, Jiwoo stood beside her brother as Junhee explained the rules they were giving to the two. They were not allowed to leave the room and as insurance they would not, they demanded the two to give up their phones until voting time. At first they had argued against it but eventually they relented knowing they had no choice.
Jungwon had taken Jinha's but Kyungjun had refused to give anybody but Jiwoo his.
The girl had accepted his phone, keeping her eyes cold and harsh as they observed him, trying to ignore the curious look her brother had sent her way.
Slipping the phone into her skirt pocket, she moved beside her brother once again, watching as the two accused split off and entered the rooms they had been allocated.
Once certain the two were in their rooms, the other students dispersed and went their own way, but Jiwoo stayed where she was. She told Yoonseo that she would ensure the two would not leave and so sat outside their rooms. The girl had paused momentarily but she looked over at the cut on Junhee's lip and agreed to leave the girl.
With the promise that she would message if there was any issue, she leaned her head on the wall behind her. She found herself scrolling through her phone as she waited, looking at the various photos she had with her friends.
A small smile tugged on her lips as she found one of her, Junhee and Yoonseo. However, her brows were furrowed slightly as they landed on the unfamiliar girl in the image. There was slight static hiding her face and Jiwoo found herself racking her mind for any recognition as to who the girl was.
Surely she would not have forgotten one of her friends?
How was that possible?
Grimacing, she pulled herself off her camera roll and shut off her phone, taking a deep breath as she tried to fight the voice in her head that screamed at her to get answers. Jiwoo tapped her finger against her thigh as she urged herself to stay where she was until the others decided to vote.
She knew that she was going to vote for whoever the others voted for and so she thought it would be pointless listening to their arguments about who to vote for.
Ignoring every part of her that told her not to, Jiwoo found herself opening the door and entering the room.
The boy immediately looked up at her, confused by her sudden arrival. She ignored him and opened a drawer, grasping a first aid kit. Opening it up, she grabbed what she needed and made her way towards him.
"I want the truth, no more lies, Kyungjun." Jiwoo began and he swallowed harshly as she moved to sit beside him. "When did you kill Yujun and why did you do it?"
As he started his explanation, the girl grabbed the cotton pad and begun to wipe away the blood that had come from his nose. She was only doing it because she had caused the injury, although she did not regret doing it.
"I'm not the Mafia." Kyungjun started and she nodded. "But I woke up surrounded by blood, with the murder weapon. Someone had tried to frame me and when I left you in the infirmary, I tried to get rid of the evidence. Jinha followed me and Yujun must have heard us. I panicked, I've already been accused so many times and I just did not want to die."
Jiwoo pressed down onto another wound on his cheek, causing him to wince. "So you killed a classmate to save yourself, without even knowing what he was going to do? How kind of you."
Kyungjun looked down, almost ashamed. "I'd take it back if I could."
As her eyes narrowed, he knew was in the wrong. "You can't, you killed an innocent person, you can't just take something like that back." Jiwoo's voice was harsh and it made him feel regretful โ he did not even know he was capable of feeling such emotions.
As she managed to get all the blood off his face, she paused. "You said you were framed, right?" He nodded slowly and she pulled her hand away from his face. "Jinha said the same thing." Jiwoo spoke up with a frown. "Who would try and frame you guys?"
A chuckle passed by the boy's lips. "I can think of a few people."
"This would not happen if you could just get along with people. You're easy to accuse as Mafia because you put yourself into situations where you look unlikeable." Jiwoo retorted, shaking her head at the boy.
"You've never blamed me for being Mafia, though." Kyungjun pointed out as she grabbed some cream and placed a dot on her finger.
As she begun to dab it over the wound, her eyes squinting in concentration, she spoke up, "I know you're not Mafia. I checked immediately." Jiwoo did not care that she had basically set herself up for death, an odd part of her knew he would not be sharing this information with the others.
"You're Police?" Kyungjun spoke up with a frown. "How come you never helped us out, we could have used your abilites."
Jiwoo narrowed her eyes at him as she gripped his jaw to focus on applying this cream so he would not get an infection. "If I told anyone I was the Police, I would be the first target of the Mafia. If you cared to pay attention, I helped discreetly. I told Junhee you were a Citizen and it is thanks to me you were not the first voted out." She explained, her tone shockingly calm as she finally finished.
Dropping her hold on his jaw, she glanced around the room awkwardly. They remained in silence for a few seconds, sat side by side wanting to share all their thoughts but neither able to open their mouth to get their words out.
"I really tried with you, Kyungjun. I convinced myself that maybe there was something salvageable within you but every time you manage to beat yourself and do something worse. I selfishly could look past the teasing, maybe you'll mature and realise being an asshole is not okay, but this?" Jiwoo paused as she attempted to calm herself down. "Murdering Yujun just to avoid suspicion thrown on you, there's no coming back from that."
Kyungjun looked down at the floor, ashamed as she continued. "I feel guilty because a fucked up part of me liked you. Maybe that's why I was ignorant to everything you did to Wooram and Jin Dabum..." she trailed off as she continued repeating the final boy's name. At her sudden pause, Kyungjun looked up with furrowed brows as her eyes widened. "He had the motive. He hated Seungbin, which explains the absolute horrific murder he had last night. He framed you and Jinha because it was his payback to you both."
At her realisation, the two shared a horrified look. Kyungjun was seething as he mumbled about how he was right, he knew the boy was not to be trusted.
Immediately, Jiwoo grabbed her phone and opened to the voting page. As she clicked on the boy's name, she used her ability and waited apprehensively.
When the screen finally loaded, she opened the notification and moved her phone for Kyungjun to see.
Jin Dabum is a Mafia.
