We made it to the cafeteria before Dae-su started twitching. He suddenly passed out. Everyone stopped in their tracks.

Mi-jin screamed. She dropped him and backed up, terrified.

Dae-su's body continued to twitch. Ha-ri panicked and grabbed Mi-jin's arm, pulling her farther away from the body.

Min-jae stepped up and held his arrow out.

"JUST SHOOT HIM ALREADY!" Ji-min yelled.

"Shut up!" Min-jae yelled back.

Dae-su stood up as a zombie. He charged at Mi-jin and Ha-ri.

Min-jae didn't hesitate to shoot Dae-su.

Hyo-ryung screamed, crying. Ji-min stepped aside.

I wanted to walk over and comfort her, but I didn't want to leave Gwi-nam alone.

Mi-jin seemed to have read my mind. She pushed Ha-ri off of her and ran to comfort Hyo.

Hyo just let Mi-jin hug her. She cried for a couple more seconds before Su-hyeok and Nam-ra ran back.

They had run a little further with On-jo, Cheong-san, Joon-yeong and Wu-jin to look ahead.

"We have to leave now!" Nam-ra yelled.

"She's right. Eun-ji could come back!" Wu-jin said.

Ha-ri listened to her brother and everyone else followed her. Mi-jin managed to convince Hyo to get up and run, and I was still holding on to Gwi-nam's hand.

"The windows!" I yelled.

Ha-ri and Min-jae instantly understood and opened two of the windows. They helped everyone out.

Nam-ra and Su-hyeok went first. They started holding off zombies from the outside.

We needed to hurry.

"Gwi-nam! Hey, Gwi-nam!! Can you fight?" I said while shaking him.

He wiped the blood off of his face. "I lost my knife."

"Your spare?" I asked.

He nodded, and pulled his spare knife out from his belt. "I can fight," he said, finally removing his hand off of his eye. It looked pretty bad.

Gwi-nam went next, and I went after him.

We kept running around, trying to find anywhere we could go.

There were so many zombies, too many to fight off.

Min-jae was still collecting their old arrows, and Ha-ri had been running low on them, so Min-jae gave some of his stash to her.

She was suddenly incredibly thankful for this habit of his.

We were almost overpowered outside, too.

The zombies were winning.

Both archers were fighting off zombies with their hands instead, unable to load arrows fast enough.

Mi-jin was trying to protect Hyo and Ji-min, but she was struggling by herself.

Nam-ra was protecting Su-hyeok since he didn't have a weapon.

Wu-jin was helping his sister, and Joon-yeong was with him.

Cheong-san and On-jo were both fighting zombies alone and without a weapon. On-jo was almost bitten, but Gwi-nam ran over to help them, letting go of my hand.

I had a decision to make. A life and death decision.

I knew that Ha-ri, Wu-jin, and Joon-yeong wouldn't last very long.

I ran over and killed the zombies overpowering them.

Ha-ri then helped Min-jae, and the other two boys ran to help Mi-jin out.

I joined Nam-ra and Su-hyeok, who were still taking the lead.

"Be more careful, Su! You don't have a weapon!" I yelled, killing a zombie that was a little too close to biting him.

"You be careful! You're doing too much," he replied.

I got them out of their bad situation and moved on to Mi-jin.

Her saw had gotten stuck in a zombie and she was trying to pull it out when another one tried to jump on her.

I was just barely able to kill the zombie before it bit her.

Hyo-ryung was fighting a zombie on the ground, and Ji-min was no where to be seen.

I quickly killed the zombie that Hyo was fighting. I realized that she was crying pretty hard, which left me confused.

"Where's Ji-min?" I panically asked Hyo-ryung and Mi-jin while looking around.

"Hyo! Where is she?!" Mi-jin yelled to her, realizing that she had failed at protecting both of the girls.

"Sh... She left me!" Hyo-ryung sobbed. she could barely form a sentence through her tears. "She thought I was gonna die and tried to save herself, so she ran away!"

"It's okay," I comforted her. "It's not your fault. You're okay, right?"

She nodded and stood up, ready to defend herself. She wiped her tears away with a clean part of her sweater.

Mi-jin killed a couple more zombies before urging me and the others to run.

"LET'S GO, NOW!" I yelled.

We all hurried off into some trees, a forest.

The forest confused the zombies and we eventually lost most of them.

Ha-ri and Min-jae were still on lookout to kill any that found us through smell.

I tried to catch my breath as I looked around and realized one other person was missing.

"Hey... Where's Cheong-san?" I asked.

On-jo looked worried, like she knew what happened. She was clearly upset.

Su-hyeok looked around, panicking. He let go of Nam-ra's arm. "On-jo."

She looked up.

"Where is he?" he asked.

She started crying. "We... We got separated," she sobbed. "I tried to stop him, but he ran off. He swore he would survive, but I don't know which way he went. The zombies cornered him..."

Nam-ra walked over to her and grabbed her hand. "It's okay, On-jo."

I sighed.

Wu-jin also looked around and realized Ji-min was gone. "Where is Ji-min?"

He looked at Hyo-ryung.

Before Hyo could say anything, Mi-jin spoke up. "She betrayed Hyo. She betrayed us. I hope I never see her again."

Wu-jin gave her a confused look, wanting more of an explanation.

"Ji-min ran off," I started. "She assumed Hyo was going to die and left her before I saved her."

"Thank you for saving Hyo-ryung, y/n." Wu-jin said, looking at me.

I nodded.

I walked over to Gwi-nam to keep him company since he was all alone.

"Give yourselves a moment to catch your breath." Ha-ri announced. "We can continue running away from this place after we calm down."

She looked incredibly sad. Everyone did. Everyone had lost a dear friend that day.

Joon-yeong suddenly started shaking. Wu-jin looked over his shoulder at the sudden movement. Joon-yeong's hand was covered in blood, and that's when everyone realized that he had been bit.
