Chapter Fifty-Three
πŸ’° I.E.D πŸ’°

Amara watched as Lydia sat in front of the record player, occasionally moving the needle around as she listened. Amara sighed softly before standing up and walking over to Lydia. "Wait, Amara-" Lydia said as Amara moved the needle off the vinyl. "No, you're done." Amara said as she crouched down next to Lydia, "You've been listening to that thing all weekend. You're gonna drive yourself insane." Amara said and Lydia shook her head.

"I have to figure it out." Lydia said in a slight whisper and Amara shook her head, "You're not gonna figure it out if you lose your mind. Lydia, you need a break." Amara said and Lydia sighed softly while looking back at the record player.

"Okay, I have to go to the station to talk to my mom and Stilinski. Before I go, I'm gonna take you to go eat something and then take you home so you can sleep." Amara said and Lydia sighed and shook her head, "Amara-" She started to say but Amara cut her off. "I'm not gonna argue with you in this Lydia. I will carry you out this damn lake house if I absolutely have to." Amara said before helping Lydia up.

Amara was about to pull Lydia out the room but stopped when Lydia wrapped her arms around Amara's torso, tiredly leaning her head on Amara's shoulder. Amara sighed softly before wrapping her arms around Lydia. "Come on, I'll buy you food from that one place you like downtown." Amara said as they pulled away and Lydia smiled at her and nodded.

"So, the Walcotts were the first... at least, the first we know about. Four murders- Sean, his brother, and their parents. They were killed by a professional assassin called the Mute; weapon of choice, a military tomahawk. But then, the Mute was killed by Peter Hale after he tried to blow up Derek and Makena with a claymore mine. Next was Demarco. He delivered a keg to the party at Lydia's lake house... and got decapitated outside his car. And then, last night, twenty-three-year-old Carrie Hudson." Stiles explained as they stood around Stilinski's desk at the station looking at pictures from the murders.

"It's a Deadpool- a hit-list of supernatural creatures." Scott said pulling out a piece of paper, "This is only part of it... The rest still has to be decoded."

"Who found this list?" Makena asked, "Lydia." Amara answered making Stilinski sigh, "How?" He asked and she pursed her lips a bit. "She wrote it...Actually, she transcribed it... without realizing it..." Amara said and he raised his eyebrows at her, "Banshee?" He asked and she nodded.

"Banshee."

"Beautiful. All right, what are these numbers next to the names?" Stilinski asked, "We're getting to that. First, you need to know that the code was broken with a cipher key." Stiles explained and his dad raised his eyebrows. "Wait... You mean, like, a... like a key word?" He asked and Scott sighed.

"Actually a name." Scott said slowly while glancing over at Amara, "Allison... Her name broke a third of the list." Amara said after a few seconds of silence. "And now we think there's two other cipher keys." Scott said and Makena nodded.

"Which will give us the rest of the names. Okay... So, how do we get the cipher keys?" Makena asked, "Same way we got the code." Stiles said and Amara nodded. "Lydia. She has been at the lake house all weekend, trying to find the other two key words." Amara explained, "You didn't know about Demarco or Carrie? And what about these other two names on the list- uh, Kayleen Bettcher and Elias Town? They're Werewolves, too?" Stilinski asked and they all just shrugged.

"I don't know. But Deaton said that the Nemeton would draw supernatural creatures here." Scott said and Amara nodded in agreement, "Here being Beacon Hills, or Beacon County? The population of Beacon Hills is just under thirty-thouand-" Stilinski said.

"-And dropping." Stiles added making his father give him a look, "But, if we're talking Beacon County, then you're looking at close to five hundred thousand. Look, how many Werewolves, Banshees, Kitsunes, Witches and whatever the hell else is out there are we talking about? And what if the next cipher key uncovers not twelve names, but one hundred?" Stilinski asked.

"We don't think there will be that many. There's a limit." Stiles said and Scott nodded, "Because of the numbers. We think that, once we decode the names, the numbers will add up to one-hundred-seventeen." He said and Stilinski raised his eyebrows.

"One-hundred-and-seventeen what?"

"Million." Scott said and Stiles started writing a "K" by any triple-digit number and a "M" by any double or single digit number. Amara sighed slightly as Stiles wrote a "M" next to the twenty-five by her name and the eighteen by her mother's.

"One-hundred-and-seventeen million dollars, stolen from the my family's vault and is being used by someone to finance all these murders." Amara said and Scott nodded, "Someone who wants every supernatural in Beacon Hills dead." He said and Stilinski nodded slowly.

"So, the coded list goes out, and someone, these professional assassins get that list..." He trailed off and Amara nodded, "And a cipher key." She said. "And then they go after the names on the list- they being killers with no mouths, tomahawks, thermo-cut wires that can take your head off." Makena said, "Carrie was also stabbed. What's this mark?" Stiles said looking at the photos.

"We're not sure yet. We're still waiting on the M.E.'s report. There's one other thing I don't get... How did this new assassin know that Demarco was going to be at the lake house?" Stilinski asked and Amara chuckled, "Everyone knows he delivers kegs to teenagers for a little extra cash." She said and Makena raised her eyebrows slightly.

"Uh huh. So, whoever ordered the keg killed Demarco." Makena said and Stiles nodded, "Yeah, it was someone at the party..." He said.

"A student."

"Please stop hovering." Lydia said making Amara look up to see Malia hovering over Lydia's shoulder. The three of them were sitting in the art room trying to see if Lydia would do some automatic drawing like she did with the Nemeton.

"I'm not hovering- I'm waiting! Draw something. Write something. We need to know who else is on that list." Malia said making Amara raise her eyebrows, "You mean you need to know if you're on the list." She said and Malia looked at her and nodded. "If someone's coming to take my head off... then, yeah, I'd like to know."

Amara watched in amusement as Lydia tried to get back to it but Malia hovering over her shoulder was obviously way too distracting. "Can you please just sit down. You're making me nervous." Lydia asked and Malia awkwardly nodded and sat down next to Amara, "Sorry."

Amara watched as Lydia closed her eyes and looked like she was about to write or draw something when Malia spoke up. "Guys?" Malia asked making Lydia sigh frustratingly, "What?" She asked but Malia didn't answer right away. "Oh my god, what?" Lydia asked looking over at Malia.

"Maybe we need help... From another Banshee..." Malia said setting the book down for them to see a picture of what kinda looked like someone screaming, "Meredith." Lydia said sighing.

"Eichen House says Meredith can't have visitors without permission from a family member." Lydia said as they walked down the stairs, "That's not gonna be easy, since her whole family is dead." Amara said making Lydia sigh. "Perfect."

"Okay... Maybe we go back to the art room? Or music room?" Malia said and Lydia turned to them, "I'm not plucking piano strings for two hours, waiting for some supernatural inspiration." Lydia said and Malia shrugged. "Fine! What else do Banshees do?" Malia asked, looking back and forth between Lydia and Amara.

"You think I know? I can't just turn this on. I'm not like you guys- I don't have claws, or glowing eyes, or super senses or fire magic. I just have voices in my head." Lydia said obviously frustrated and Malia and Amara slowly glanced around to see some people looking at them weird.

"Lydia..." Amara sighed as Lydia turned around and walked away while Malia and Amara looked at each other and sighed.

"Economic disparity exists in all forms. Well, take sports, for example. Some teams have better training facilities, some have better equipment... Unlike Beacon Hills, that can barely afford the duct tape to keep our equipment together." Coach explained as he started walking around the room. He walked up to Stiles desk and bang the end of a lacrosse stick on top if it making Stiles jump and look away from the crime scene photos he was looking at.

"You know, Stilinski... If I could grade you on how profoundly you disturb me, you'd be an A-plus student." Coach said making Amara chuckle as Stiles nodded, "Thanks, Coach." Stiles said. "Put those pictures away." Coach said, tapping the desk again and Stiles noticed before looking down at the stick.

Suddenly Stiles grabbed the stick right as Coach was about to walk away. He looked at it for a second before ripping off the plastic end and holding up one if the pictures. "Stilinski! What the hell is wrong with you?" Coach asked, trying to pull the stick away but Stiles kept a tight hold on it as he looked back and forth between the end of the lacrosse stick and one of the pictures.

Finally Coach pulled the stick away and looked at Stiles like he was crazy, "Don't answer that." He said before walking away. Amara turned around to look at Stiles as Scott turned to look at him as well. "It's a lacrosse player." Stiles whispered making Amara and Scott look at each other wide eyed, "The killer's on the team."

πŸ’°

"This is pointless- most of the team plays with their own gear." Scott said as he, Stiles, Amara and Kira stood around Coach's office checking all the lacrosse sticks for a knife. "Maybe instead of trying to find a lacrosse stick with a hidden dagger in it, we should be trying to get the game canceled?" Kira asked and Amara sighed and shook her head.

"Coach would ever cancel a game. Plus, the game's the best way to catch him red-handed." Amara said, glancing over at Kira, "But what if he's red-handed 'cause his hands are covered in the blood of the person that he just stabbed to death? Which, by the way, could be either of you guys." Stiles said while pointing between Scott and Kira.

"Or Liam." Amara said and Scott sighed, "Well, we don't have the whole list, and he could be on it." Scott said and she nodded. "We don't know anything about that list- how it's made, how it's updated. I mean, who's been out taking a supernatural census, anyway?" Stiles said and Kira sighed and shook her head. "How do they even know about me?" Kira asked and Scott sighed, "They know about everyone."

"I think Kira's right. I think we should stop the game." Stiles said and Scott sighed and shook his head, "I'm not afraid." Scott said glancing at all if them. "Neither am I." Kira said making Scott smile at her.

"Well, I'm terrified, and I'm not even on the list!" Stiles said raising his arms up, Amara went to say something but Stiles pointed at her and spoke up, "Amara, we already know you really want to fight an assassin." Stiles said making Amara purse her lips and nod.

"Guys, these are professional killers- it's their profession. One of them's got a thermo-cut wire that cuts heads off! Who knows what else they have?" Stiles said making them all look at each other.

Scott, Stiles and Amara walked outside right as Liam walked up to the Davenford Prep students. "I just wanted to say... Have a good game." Liam said, holding his hand out making them look at him shocked before the Davenford guys all started laughing.

"That's cute, Liam. Is that what they told you to say in anger management? Apologize, and everything's fine? You demolished Coach's car." Brett said making Liam start to take deep breath, "I paid for it." He said through clenched teeth. "Yeah, you're going to pay for it. We're gonna break you in half out there- and it's gonna be all your fault." Brett said.

Amara glanced down to see a drop of blood fall from Liam's clenched fist making her instantly run over and gently grab his shoulder, pulling him behind her as Scott and Stiles ran up. "Hey, what's up, prep students? Welcome to our little public high school! How you doing?" Stiles said holding his hand out for a hand shake but Brett just stared at him.

"That's a firm handshake you got there. Uh, we're very excited for the scrimmage tonight, uh, but let's keep it clean, all right? No rough stuff out there. All right, see you on the field! Go!" Stiles said and they started dragging Liam off.

Florence ran into the locker rooms and instantly ran into the showers, turning on the water as Scott and Stiles dragged a growling Liam over. "Okay... you calm yet?" Stiles asked after they held Liam under the water for a few minutes, all he got in response was Liam roaring. "Not calm yet." Amara said as she pushed against Liam's chest to get hin back under the water.

"Okay! Okay!" Liam panted as he calmed down making them let him go and Amara turned off the water. Liam walked over and leaned against the wall before sliding down. "That car you smashed... I thought you said that was your teacher's?" Scott asked and Liam looked up at the.

"He was also my coach. He benched me for the entire season." Liam said and Amara raised her eyebrows at him, "What did you do?" She asked and he sighed and looked down. "Got a couple of red cards..." He said and Stiles tilted his head and raided his eyebrows, "Just a couple?"

"You gotta be honest with us- what else happened?" Scott asked as he crouched down in front of Liam, "Nothing. I got kicked out of school. They sent me to a psychologist for an evaluation." Liam said. "What did they call it?" Amara asked and he glanced up at her, "Intermittent explosive disorder." He said lowly.

"I.E.D.? You're literally an I.E.D.? That's great. That's great. You gave powers to a walking time bomb!" Stiles said, giving Scott a thumbs up making Amara roll her eyes as she crouched down in front of Liam, "Did they give you anything for it?" She asked.

"Risperdal. It's an antipsychotic." Liam said and Stiles chuckled, "Oh, this just gets better..." Stiles muttered. "But I don't take it-" Liam said, "Obviously!" Stiles interjected making Amara look him, "Hey, Stiles?" She asked and he looked at her and hummed, "I'll punch your jeep of you don't shut it." She said and he pouted as she stood up.

"I can't play lacrosse on it, it makes me too tired." Liam said and Scott sighed and nodded, "Okay. I think you should bail out of the game. Tell Coach your leg is still hurting." Scott said making Liam look up at hin wide eyed. "No! No. I can do this- especially if you're there." Liam said, standing up and Amara sighed and shook her head as she patted his shoulder.

"That's awesome except this isn't just about the game. We think whoever killed Demarco may have been on our team." She said making him look at her confused. "Who's Demarco?" He asked, "The one who brought the beer to the party? The guy who was beheaded, remember?" Stiles asked and Amara nodded. "We think the person who ordered the keg killed Demarco." She said and Liam slowly looked down.

"Liam...? What, you know something?" Scott asked making Liam look up at them, "I don't know who ordered the keg... But I know who paid for it."

A while later Amara, Lydia and Malia walked into the station and Stilinski and Makena walked over to them. "I'm aware this is probably about the Deadpool, but I can't let her leave the station. And, in a minute, I'm gonna have to call Eichen House and let them know that she's here." Stilinski said and Lydia nodded slightly.

"Give us an hour." She said and Stilinski sighed, "You got fifteen minutes." He said before Lydia, Amara and Malia walked into the office. Makena and Stilinski were about to follow then until Parrish walked up to them. "You called Lydia?" He asked and Stilinski nodded, "Yeah." He said.

"Because Meredith asked for her, or because of the other thing...?" Parrish asked and Makena furrowed her brows in confusion. "What other thing?" Makena asked and Parrish glanced around for a second before whispering, "The psychic thing." He said.

Stilinski squinted slightly and glanced at Makena and she just shook her head and raised her hands, "This is above my pay grade." She said and Stilinski turned back to Parrish. "You think Lydia's psychic?" Stilinski asked and Parrish raised his eyebrows, "Do you?" He said and Stilinski instantly and awkwardly shook his head.

"No, I do not... I think that she is, uh... intuitive." Stilinski said making Makena shook her head slightly, "That's what they used to call psychics, intuitionists." She said before walking into the office while Parrish nodded and gesture to her while Stilinski sighed. "Yeah, and I used to call myself a rational human being. Get in here and shut the door." He said before walking in.

Parrish followed in after him, shutting the door behind him. "Ask what you need to ask." Stilinski said as Makena leaned against his desk next to Amara. Lydia turned to Meredith before holding her phone out making Meredith look at her confused before grabbing the phone.

"Meredith, are you going to answer it?" Lydia asked and Meredith slowly stood up before leaning to whispered into Lydia's ear. "It's not ringing." She whispered, looking at Lydia like she was crazy making Lydia glance back at Amara who just chuckled quietly. Lydia squinted slightly before sighing and crouching down in front of Meredith.

"Meredith, you came to help us, remember?" Lydia asked and Meredith smiled slightly, "You called me..." She said making Lydia look at her confused. "What do you mean, I called you?" Lydia asked and Meredith raised her eyebrows, "I heard you." She said, not helping Lydia's confusion.

"Meredith, can I ask you a question?" Parrish said making them all look at him and Meredith nodded making him crouch down in front of her. "When you need help- when you need to find something- is there someone you reach out to? Maybe someone you call?" He asked and she shrugged slightly.

"It depends... Different people for different things..." She said and he nodded slightly, "So, maybe there's a number that can help us? Someone we can call." He asked and she nodded.

"Yes."

"Would you be okay telling us?" He asked and she nodded again, "Yes." She said making Amara hum slightly while
