Chapter Fifty-One

"Of course you're still the team captain. You got your grades up, just like Coach told you to, right?" Stiles said as Amara walked up to them as they made their way to the field. "Yeah, but he never told me I was back on the team- he just told me to show up at try-outs today."

"We got bigger things to deal with, anyway. Did you tell Argent yet?"

"Uh, I texted him, but he didn't get back to me." Scott said making Stiles and Amara stop and look at him incredulously, "You told him his sister Kate came back from the dead over a text?" Amara asked and Scott looked at her sheepishly. "I didn't have the money to call France." He said making her sigh and pinch the bridge of her nose.

"Yeah, you think you got money problems? Try paying for an MRI and a visit to Eichen House." Stiles said making them look at him, "There was another notice?" Amara asked and Stiles sighed and nodded, "Yeah. This one said final." Stiles said before shaking his head.

"What the hell are we doing here, anyway? We got like, one hundred and seventeen million problems, and worrying about our status on the lacrosse team is not one of them." Stiles said and Scott looked over at the field, "It is now." He said making them turn around.

There was a group of freshman practicing on the field, but what really caught their eye was the goalie. Whoever the goalie was, he was catching every single shot like it was nothing.

"Hey, Liam... You want to explain what that was out there?" Stiles said as they walked up to Liam in the locker room. Liam turned around looking at them weird, "What do you mean?" Liam asked, "That little display. Your little circus act." Stiles asked making Liam furrowed his brows. "What circus act?" He asked and Stiles looked at him like it was obvious, "You caught every shot." Stiles said and Liam nodded.

"I was in goal." He said, looking at Stiles like he was stupid, "Yeah, but nothing, not a single shot got past you." Stiles said and Liam nodded slowly. "Yeah, I was the goalie." Liam said and Amara quietly chuckle at the look on Liam's face. "You guys played this game before?" Liam asked and Stiles sighed and gestured to Scott. "You're a freshman, right?"

"Yeah..." Liam said and Amara furrowed her brows, "But you weren't here last semester." She said making him look at her. "I transferred from Devenford Prep." Liam said and Scott and Amara looked at each other, hearing Liam's heart beat.

"You transferred?" Scott asked frowning and Liam nodded, "Yeah..." He said slowly and Amara raised her eyebrows. "You got kicked out, didn't you?" She asked making Liam look at her shocked, "All right, look- kicked out or transferred, what do you guys care? I came here to play lacrosse. The team could use a few good players, right?" Liam said frustratingly making Stiles shake his head.

"No. No, we don't need any more good players-" He started to say but Amara cut him off, "Well... After Jackson, Isaac and Danny leaving, the only good player got left is Scott... So you kinda do need more good players." She said making Stiles shoot her a look before turning to Liam.

"Okay, how'd you get this good? Have you always been this good? Or did it suddenly happen just once over night? Have you ever been out in the middle of the woods during the night of a full-" Stiles said but got cut off by Amara pinching him.

"Stiles, ever think about minding your own business?" Amara asked and Stiles rolled his eyes, "Amara, ever think about just being on your best friend's side." He asked and she shook her head. "No, not really." She said and Liam sighed in annoyance.

"Look, I learned from my stepfather, all right? He made team captain when he was a sophomore. Just like you." Liam said while grabbing his bag then turned to Stiles, "And yeah... I guess I'm just that good." He said then walked off.

"He wasn't lying that time."

Malia walked into class together to see a few equations on the board. Malia looked away from the board and nodded before slowly stepping out of the door way. She barely made it ten feet from the class before Stiles came up to them and grabbed Malia's shoulder and gently pushed her back to class. "I hate math. It's pointless." Malia said as she sat down next to Lydia and Stiles sat down next to Amara.

"It's school! School is important, and math is essential." Stiles said, "To what?" Malia asked turning to Stiles. "Knowing how much to tip at restaurants." Stiles said making both Amara and Lydia turn to him. "And other less important things, like medicine, economics, engineering..." Lydia said making Malia look at her while Stiles just nodded, "Tipping." He whispered as the teacher turned to the class.

"All right, volunteers to the board! Lydia, Diego, Malia..." Ms. Flemming said making Malia look at ber, "I didn't volunteer." Malia said. "You did now. To the board." Ms. Flemming said and Malia glanced back at Stiles who gave her a thumbs up and she growled lowly before getting up along with Lydia.

A second later Stiles quickly turned to Amara making her look at him. "Family murdering axe-murderer." He said making her perk up slightly, "Oo, fun." She said. "Last night a family got attacked by someone with a axe, only one survived. Some kid named Sean." Stiles said and Amara nodded, "We're gonna do something about it right?" She asked and he nodded.

"Uh- obviously."

"An axe-murderer?" Kira asked as she, Stiles, Scott and Amara walked through the halls, "A family murdering axe-murderer!" Stiles said and Scott just nodded, "I already heard about it." Scott said making Amara furrow her brows.

"Wait, what? You did? How?" Amara asked and Scott glanced at him as he opened his locker, "My mom called me. She knew we'd see it on the news." He said and Stiles nodded. "Perfect! Lets go!" Stiles said but Scott stopped him. "Whoa, whoa- we've got econ. in five minutes." He said making Stiles look at him crazy, "All right, did you forget the part about the family murdering axe-murderer?"

"Did you forget your dad's the sheriff and Amara's mom is a Deputy? They want us to stay out of it." Scott said and Stiles squinted at him, "There's a family-murdering axe-murderer and we're not going to do anything about it?" Stiles said looking at Scott incredulously. "Maybe we should just let the adults handle it." Kira said and Amara raised her hand slightly, "I'm with Stiles on this." She said.

"So, the two of you, you just want to stay here, school, go to class? Never heard anything so irresponsible in my life! Amara is now my favorite person." Stiles said as he grabbed Amara's shoulders and started pulling her down the hall as she laughed.

"I always have been." She said and Stiles just flicked the back of her head making her swat at his hand. "See you at tryouts!" Scott called out making Stiles just do a dramatic hand gesture.

"So, what are you feeling?" Amara asked as she and Lydia glanced around the Walcott house hold. "I dont know... I just have a feeling that theres something else here." Lydia said and Amara nodded slightly, "Well, I always trust the feeling of a Banshee." She said before suddenly grabbing Lydia's arm when she heard the front door open.

"Beacon County Sheriff's Department! This is a crime scene! Show yourself!" A familiar voice called out as they slowly walked into the house. Amara sighed before she and Lydia turned the corner making Parrish point his gun at them but lowered it when they noticed it was them.

"I would try to explain it, but... I've never gotten a satisfactory explanation myself." Lydia said while Parrish put his gun away. "Just an unusual habit of showing up at places where people have been brutally murdered." He said and Lydia pursed her lips, "Are you saying I have a reputation?" She asked and he shrugged slightly.

"An unusual one... Maybe you're psychic?" He said making Amara raise her eyebrows at him, "You believe that?" She asked and he sighed softly. "I'd like to say I don't believe in anything, but I keep an open mind." He said and Amara glanced around slightly, "But, if you guys are looking for dead bodies, I think you're a little late." He said as Amara took a deep breath before pausing slightly.

"What is it?" Lydia asked, noticing as Amara took another deep breath and furrowed her brows, "Death." Amara said. She glanced around before following the scent over to the wall and she furrowed her brows slightly before pushing against the wall making it open. She looked over at Parrish and Lydia whose eyes widened before they walked over to her

Parrish slowly pushed it open wider as a cool fog flowed out of it. He cautiously pulled his gun and flashlight out and walking in making Lydia and Amara follow. The entire place was freezing cold making Lydia step closer to Amara. Parrish shined his flashlight around until he found a switch and flipped it making the all the lights turn on that's when they noticed all the hanging bags.

"I think it's a game locker. Like venison. Hunting's legal in some parts of the state." Parrish said as Amara walked over to one of the bags. She reached up and pulled down the zipper making her suck in a deep breath and step back, "Oh wow." She said making them look over at her. "What is it?" Lydia asked and Amara shook her head, "This is not venison." She said.

Parrish instantly walked over to her, looking up at what she was looking at to see the body of a woman. He instantly zipped it back up while Lydia grabbed Amara's arm. Amara glanced around before realization slowly crossed over her face.

"Parrish...?" Amara said slowly making him look at her, "There was one person survived the murders right?" She asked and he nodded. "A teenager named Sean." He said and she looked at him, "Where is he right now?" She asked and he furrowed his brows slightly. "The hospital, why?" He asked as she glanced around for a moment, "Cause I think I know what this is..."

πŸ’°

"Hey." Scott said as Amara ran up to him in the hospital, "Wendigos." Amara said immediately, making him furrow his brows. "What?" He asked and she sighed, "We found a game locker full of dozens of bodies inside the Walcott's house. The Walcott's are wendigos." She said quickly and he just looked at her confused.

"What is a wendigo?" He asked and she groaned slightly, "They're cannibalistic shapeshifters, they literally eat people. And there's one in this hospital right now as we speak. Scott, he hasn't eaten in hours..." She said making his eyes widen.

"Let's go." He said and they instantly started running towards the elevator, "Wait! Hold the doors!" Scott yelled but the doors shut right as they got up to the. "Stairs." Amara said patting his arm before they ran over to the stairs.

"No! Leave me alone! NO!!!!" Melissa yelled right as Scott and Amara ran up to the hall she and Sean was in. They turned the corner to see Melissa on the floor with Sean grabbing her, both covered in blood. Scott let out a roar, charging at Sean while Amara ran over to Melissa who instantly held onto Amara's arms as she pull her over to the wall.

They watched as Sean kicked Scott into the opposite wall before running off. Scott instantly turned to his mom while Amara helped her up, "I'm okay. I'm all right." Melissa said as Scott looked at her worriedly. "Are you sure?" Scott asked and Melissa nodded, "Go get that son of a bitch." Melissa said and Scott growled before he and Amara ran after Sean.

They turned the corner and didn't see anyone but Amara noticed all the blood smeared on the walls and floors making her tap Scott's arm. They both ran onto the stairwell to see a smear of blood before hearing Liam groan making them quickly run up the stairs.

They ran up the the roof to see Sean holding Liam on top of the ledge, "Get back!" Sean yelled making them stop. "Don't! You don't need to do this. Whatever it is- whatever you are- we can help you." Scott said as he slowly took a step forward, "No, you can't!" Sean said as Liam struggled to get away from him.

"You're a wendigo right?" Amara said making Sean look at her, "We can help you, there are ways to control the hunger." She said and Sean just slightly shook his head. "Wendigos don't need help- we need food!" He yelled before Liam managed to push him away.

Scott when to run over to them making Sean shove Liam over the ledge before Scott pushed Sean back and went to grab Liam's arms. Amara's eyes widened as Sean tried to pull Scott away and she went to run over but someone grabbed her shoulder making her spin around.

In front of her was a man without a mouth making her furrow her brows until he suddenly swung at her with a tomahawk at her but she quickly ducked. He swiped at her again but she grabbed his arm before kicking his side making him stumble back a bit. He quickly recovered but before he could swipe at her she grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his back before kicking him square in the back making him fall to the ground.

He didn't waste anytime getting up before holding his tomahawk up. But this time he didnt swing at her but instead threw the tomahawk into Sean's back making her eyes widen. Sean fell to the ground as the man walked over and grabbed the tomahawk out from Sean's back while Scott pulled Liam up before looking over at them.

The man slowly turn to look at Scott and held a finger over where his mouth should be. Amara's eyes flashed red as the man turned to her again but he just held his arm up before typing something into a small keyboard on his arm. "Amara Hale, your father is next." A robotic voice spoke before he walked away making her furrow her brows.

"Are you okay." Scott asked, grabbing her arm as she walked over to him, "Yeah, I think its safe to say that, that was the axe murderer and I'm pretty sure he thinks my family will be his next victims." She said before shrugged. "Just a normal day being a Hale really." She said before looking at Liam who was gripping his arm in pain.

He moved his hand away slightly to reveal a bite making her eyes widen before looking at Scott. "Scott..." She trailed off slightly and he nodded and sighed softly, "I know..."
