August 21st, 1919.

Georgie woke up when her mother, molly, pushed open the curtains to her vardo. Molly clapped her hands waking up Georgie just that final bit. "Georgie wake up!" Molly shook Georgie.

Georgie lifted her head, it was her 18th birthday but for some reason something felt... off? "What ma?" Georgie groaned growing frustrated. Molly pulled the quilt up, neating up georgie's messy bed.

"It's your wedding day!" Molly shouted. Georgie's eyes widened, her breathing hitched. She jumped out of bed, she walked up and down her vardo. She couldn't think straight. Thousands of questions flooding her mind.

She just wanted her questions to be answered, why me? Who am I marrying? How old are they? Does he know he's getting married? She couldn't get her words out, it was like they were trapped in her mouth mixing together to form one question, "why?".

There was noise outside, she knew it was mickey and da. She could hear Mickey shouting at him. "Fuck d'ya mean she's getting married, she's only turned 18 today?" Mickey shouted at his dad. She could hear her dad telling him to be quiet and trying to stop mickey from coming to her vardo.

"And to them bastards? Tommy Shelby will leave her dead in the fuckin' mud. I don't want m' little sister in that place" mickey shouted again. Georgie's stomach turned, Tommy Shelby? She had seen him in the papers for his cuttings and killings with his brothers.

She looked at her mother, tears flooding her eyes. "...'m marryin' Thomas Shelby?" The tears left her eyes, her voice gave in followed by her legs. She just collapsed on the floor and cried. The only question in her head was why? There was millions of girls in small heath, why did it have to be her?

Mickey came running in the vardo, da close behind. He knelt down infront of his little sister who was currently bawling her eyes out and hugged her "he's 23 is he not? She's 18, whys she being pulled into this" he looked at his ma.

"It's to stop the war between the Shelbys and us" their dad muttered. Georgie sobbed in mickeys chest. Their dad spoke again "you'll go back to small heath tonight and you'll get your stuff tomorrow" she rose her head from being tucked in mickeys chest and glared at her dad.

"What about Mickey, what's he gonna do. Can he visit me?" She spoke. She looked at her ma as she spoke quietly "that'll be up to Thomas, love.." she looked at her two children and noticed how grown up they were now.

"The wedding starts at 2:30, come on Mickey" her dad walked out with Mickey following close behind. She stood up and looked in her mirror. She was going to be a wife in less than 3 hours. She started doing her hair.

When Georgie was little she had light brown hair.. it was healthy and soft. She now had black hair that made her eyes stand out. She put her hair in curls while her mum did her light makeup. Her mother paused and walked to her own vardo, she came back 5 minutes later with a white wedding dress, a vail and a bottle of champagne. In the time she had been gone, Georgie had drawn a nice winged cat eye.

"I bought these a week ago when I found out you we're getting married, I got you some sapphire earrings and I wore them on my wedding day" her mother smiled at her, Georgie turned around and hugged her.

She looked outside her vardo to see Mickey and their cousins messing about with 2 dogs, she laughed. It reminded her of when they were kids, Mickey messing about with the dogs until the finally nipped him as she burst out laughing. Mickey looked at her and his eyes widened. The white made her blue eyes stand out, it always had since she was a tiny baby in her cot.

She looked like an angel, Mickey smiled at her. "My little sister all grown up, you look like an angel Georgie." She smiled. She'd miss this place but she wouldn't be staying here for long and she knew that so she needed to make the most of the night. She didn't care how long it took, she would be getting black out drunk.

She was going to say something before all her girl cousins came running to her vardo. She checked the time, 2:00 pm. She grabbed the champagne and took a massive sip, she could see her cousin, Esmeralda, about to talk so she stopped. She looked at her, raising her brow. "What?"

"All the peaky blinders are starting to show up now!" Esmeralda squealed. Georgie's stomach turned, but she grew slightly... giddy? She looked at the top of the hill to see an older woman helping a younger, pregnant girl down the hill. She turned to Esmeralda "who's that?" She said pointing to the hill. Esmeralda turned to the girl who was about to finish the champagne, she took the bottle.

"That's his sister and his auntie" she said "and no more champagne before the wedding."

"I'm only trying to pass time" she groaned, giggling slightly. "Look, Georgie! That's his auntie and sister". She nodded "yes, I know". Once they got down the hill, Mickey gave them company, introducing them to Georgie. She greeted them. Next down the hill was Johnny dogs, his clan of wild children and his wife.

She stood in the doorway when 2 cars pulled up, men flooded out of them. Fat, skinny, tall and short, one had caught her eye. Tommy Shelby, his eyes focused on her as he walked down the hill. Her mother told her to put the vail over her face and go in the vardo.

She sat on her bed, the same bed the had spent ten years of her life sleeping in. She knew that it would just be left for anyone to use, it hurt.. she had so many memories in here. She could hear her mother talking to the men but couldn't tell what they were saying.

She knew it was time. Her mother walked in her vardo, telling her to come out. She took her dads arm, walking slowly to the wedding. She walked off from her dad and knelt on the stool. She looked at the ground, a few minutes later a figure formed next to her.

The smell of whisky, cigarettes and cologne filled her nostrils. It made her feel light headed, she got used to it after a bit though. She stared at the ground as Johnny dogs started to speak, she tuned him out. She listened though, not fully but she did. She found it was the perfect time to move her vail from her face.

"Do you Thomas Micheal Shelby take Georgie Marie kash to be your wife? To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, through sickness and health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?" Johnny asked, a cheeky smile across his face as usual

A deep, gruff Birmingham accent replied "I do." She looked up at him as for the passed five minutes she'd been staring at the mud and rock beneath them, he was staring at her. She felt slightly insecure and embarrassed under his gaze.

Johnny repeated the same thing to her, she responded "I do". Johnny spoke again, "now for the mingling of the two bloods". Johnny picked up the knife, slicing long cuts along the palm of their hands, Tommy knew what to do but she took his hand and connected it to hers.

She took her first proper look at him, his icy blue eyes sparkled. "You may now kiss the bride!" Johnny shouted. Thomas leaned forward and kissed her, the crowd cheered. Even though it was only a peck, it felt nice. She was now officially Georgie Marie Shelby..
