D groaned in pain as Sentinel stood before him, observing him with a glare. He seemed to be waiting for him to do something--stand up for himself. Everyone in the headquarters knew he was prone to do that.

The ringing in her audials suddenly stopped, and Y/n felt a bit of relief.  Airachnid stood beside her, giving her shoulder a hard grip. At this point, Y/n felt like she could do nothing more--all she could do was stand by and watch.

Everyone was shocked to see D attempting to stand up again. Although Sentinel seemed to have expected this, he also felt a hint of surprise. He shook his head at D's attempt, considering him a fool, "not a good idea."

D stood at his full height, ignoring everyone's questioning stares. Y/n gawked in disbelief; she wondered how he still felt strong enough to stand up to Sentinel. Maybe he did lose everything.

B shared her shock and wanted to tell his friend it wasn't worth it. "D, stay down," he whispered.

Sentinel glanced at Y/n with furrowed optics, then looked back at D, seemingly imitating a disappointed look.

"Well, that's a shame," he began, transforming his arm into a blaster to shoot him, "you really were a great miner..."

Y/n looked away, knowing what would happen next, and the ringing returned. A voice in the back of her mind told her to look up. As she did, the ringing quieted. The train she would see every morning was speeding towards the tower.

She gasped, and Airachnid turned to see what was going on.

Airahcnid backed up, giving Y/n's shoulder a shudder of relief. She turned to look at the guards around the headquarters, "We've got a breach--protect Sentinel and Y/n!"

As guards rushed behind Airachnid, other guards surrounded the two. They were ushered together, and Y/n had to stand next to Sentinel. A guard pushed D away, and headquarters fell silent as Airachnid and her forces began shooting and charging toward the train.

The train weaved past the attacks, violently shaking as it did. A group of High Guard Seekers ascended from the train and began to attack.

As Y/n surveyed the scene, she felt unable to react. She pieced everything together, and the realization hit her.

They're here because of Sentinel.

More guards began to attack the High Guard. There were too many for them. The train seemed to stop trying to avoid the attacks as if whoever was conducting it was about to give up.

Y/n avoided coming face-to-face with anyone. She accepted the fact she might as well die already. She heard more voices outside, more shooting. More attacking. The train is approaching.

As she stared at the floor, she heard a familiar voice in the distance, "Metal to the pedal, miners! Let's break some protocol!"

Y/n turned around, trying to look over the guards that surrounded her.

At the front of the approaching train, she saw Airachnid having her back against someone. She spoke to them. The train was getting closer.

Airachnid seemed to have noticed the tower was practically right in front of her, and she released her grip from the train.

Orion hopped into the train.

Before Y/n could react to Orion being alive, the train crashed against the tower.

What was in front of her disappeared as the side of the train was at the tip of her nose. She backed up at the feeling of the train scraping against her nose; she felt frozen in place. Sparks and pieces of the tower flew everywhere as the train flooded her vision. The guards that surrounded her were gone, and the train screeched against the glossy floor, similar to the ringing she heard in her audials earlier.

As the train came to a stop, its engines hissed, and smoke ascended into the air. Its end hung from the tower, and Y/n felt a need to leave as soon as possible.

On the other side, she heard Orion speaking to who she assumed was D, "What has he done to you?"

"This is nothing compared to what I'm gonna do to them."

Her spark dropped as she heard D's words. It's not just Sentinel--it's her.

...

What has she done?

...

Orion spoke in a low voice, "Soundwave, free the prisoners."

A high guard member flew above her in his alt-mode, letting out soundwaves to the other side to free the other High Guard members.

Orion spoke to D again as the freed members scattered away, "I know how to stop Sentinel. Airachnid is the answer."

D scoffed, "I'm doing this my way," and he ran off.

"D!"

Y/n panicked as she heard D's pedesteps a few paces away from her. Before she ran into the hallway near her, she heard B speak in an excited voice, "Yes! Whoah--battle mask!"

She heard more fighting on the other side and B's triumphant laughing, his nickname she assumed he gave himself, and D spotted her in the distance. He clenched his teeth in anger as he saw her hide behind a hall.

Y/n tried to compose herself as she heard D approaching.

"Where's Sentinel?!" he asked her.

Y/n refused to answer, crossing her arms over her chest plate.

She heard Sentinel in the distance. He assumed Y/n had been killed, and the only thing left to do was for him not to go down without a fight, "You pathetic little twits--did you really think you could knock down what I've built?"

Orion spoke up, "It's over, Sentinel. You can't escape the truth."

"What truth? That I plucked the cogs from your newborn chests? Forced you to mine so that I could pay off the Quintessons and live like a king? Marry Y/n so that I could please myself? That doesn't matter anymore--none of that matters!"

...

...

How could she ever think he truly loved her?

What a fool.

...

When she was young, her sire told her the only way she could ever feel truly loved by someone was if trust for each other played a part.

...

As her thoughts swallowed her, she heard Sentinel say the following:

"Because the truth...is what I make it!"
