Usually the team was throwing complaints left and right but today was just all fun and games. It was Friday. Friday came by quicker than ever and Isagi and Seiren were almost done with their project that was due the following week. Seiren watched from the bleachers, sitting amongst girls from each year who came to watch them fool around. Seiren glanced over to her sides, realizing how far away they sat from her.
"Seiren."
She looked up to see her brother by the fence, his arms draping over the metal. Since it wasn't an actual practice, their coach was off for the day and Sae, the captain, was coaching for them. "Yeah?" she replied. "Pass me a notebook." he said before she reached into her bag, grabbing one of her own for him.
"What for?" Seiren mumbled, going down the bleachers, watching her step. "Heads up!" she couldn't tell who it was coming from but she recognized that saying. Next thing she knew, a sharp pain was hit right on her nose, making her fall back. Sae turned his head back, looking to find to kicked the ball as Seiren groaned in pain.
"You okay?"
"Does it look like I'm okay?!"
Sae hopped over the fence, shaking his head before going over to her sides. "Yikes you're bleeding." he said. "Isagi!" he yelled, calling the boy over. Isagi tensed up before running over to the two siblings. "Take her to the nurse." Was all Sae said before running over to the field, grabbing the ball and forcing everyone to run from him.
"Stop grabbing on to me Bachira?!" Reo screamed in fear. "Nothing but a little fun in practice! Huh Reo?" Bachira laughed before gently shoving Reo to the side, running away from Sae's hard kick to the ball.
"Are you feeling dizzy? Maybe you should sit for a bit?" Isagi crouched in front of her, eyes full of worry. Seiren held the napkin to her nose, keeping her head straight as she blinked. "Who kicked the ball." the girl said, eyes darting straight to Isagi. He gulped at her harsh stare. His gaze fell on the field, slowly one by one his teammates were taken out by their captain.
"Rin.."
There was a moment of silence before she tried standing up, Isagi hoisting her up. "I'm going to kill you Rin?! You're not going to say sorry?! You're just going to keep playing like you didn't just hit your older sister?!" she yelled, before she felt herself being picked up until her feet were met with the ground again. Rin didn't dare to look at her, his feet were too busy trying to juke his own brother.
"Asshole." Seiren scoffed, using Isagi's arm to keep her balance. As the two walked back into the school building, the sound of their footsteps traveled behind them. "We're planning to go to karaoke later on today..if you want to come." Isagi then breaks their silence. "Do you want me to?" she asks. "I would prefer it." he smiles. "I'll see."
"We're here." he opened the door for her as she sat herself on the empty bed. Isagi pulled a chair in front of her, gently resting his fingers at the bottom of her chin, examining her nose. He saw slight bruising, backing away from her to get some ice. "You seem like you know what you're doing." Seiren says, hearing him laugh. "I've gotten a few share of soccer balls..to my face.."
"My dad helped me whenever I had practice. He always brought a first aid kit to my games..just in case. I seemed to be unlucky when I was younger." he said, wrapping the small bag of ice with a napkin before sitting back on the chair, gently pressing it to her nose. Seiren flinched from the cold before finally getting used to it.
"Seems like I passed my unluckiness to you."
There it was. His gentle smile. Seiren kept her blank expression, pressing her lips together while he patted her knee. "Did you hit your head?" Isagi kept his hand just above her knee, staring at her in concern. His voice, soft and gentle. "Just a bit but it's fine." Seiren hesitated, her eyes peering over to the top of his head, avoiding his gaze yet he stood up.
His hands carefully traveled over to the back of his head, feeling to see if there was any bumps. Seiren irked. "Yoichi. Hands off!" she pushed him away, jumping off the bed. "You can't just feel into someone's head like that!" she wiggled her fingers, shivering at the feeling as he stepped aside. A coat of blush covering his cheeks. "I'm sorry! I..I just thought you might've hit your head too hard!" Isagi then followed her out of the nurses room.
Seiren kept the bag to her nose, rolling her eyes. "It's fine. Just ask next time." she nudged his arm. Isagi laughed nervously, walking beside her as they headed back out onto the field. Seiren glanced over to him, scoffing as he noticed her gaze. "What?" he mouthed, nudging her back. "Nothing."
"Everything okay?" Sae went up to her, Rin quietly trailing after him. "If my nose..is bruised tomorrow..we're so switching rooms." Seiren pushed past her younger brother, going back to where she was seated. Isagi turning to Rin. "He has the bigger room.." Sae informed the latter, pushing Rin back over to the field while dragging Isagi with him at the same time.
As Seiren sat herself down, watching the team felt nostalgic. The days where she stood by the sidelines with Rin whenever Sae had his games. The day where Rin, too focused on the ball, to even notice that he had ran up to kick it during Sae's game. The day where she realized she couldn't be like them.
Sae was yelling at his teammatesโ mainly Karasu and Bachira for fooling around. He ran practice like it was an actual game, leaving everyone sore and tired by the end. Their laughter filled their air whenever Sae attempted to be scary. They could never take him seriously whenever he wasn't in his football uniform.
Envy still filled her heart. Even after the day she yelled at Sae, pouring out her true feelings, even after he consoled her, Seiren still envied them. She placed the bag beside her, her fingers clutching onto her skirt as the cheers from the fangirls behind her became overbearing. She didn't know what could tear this feeling away from her, maybe she had to grow out of it.
"Go Rin!"
"Sae! Aren't you playing?"
"Their fangirls are so.." Reo muttered, kicking the ball over to Zantetsu. "Annoying.." Nagi whispered, running over to where Isagi was standing. Isagi glanced over to the bleachers, his eyes falling on Seiren as he squinted at her. "Isagi!" Zantetsu called over, passing the ball to him but Nagi was quick enough to steal it.
"Rin, get the ball! Rin! Rin!"
"Do you not know there's other players on the team.." Seiren whispered to herself. She heard one of the girls came down the bleachers, bumping into Seiren on her way off. "Are you trying to trip me?" she said, glaring at Seiren. "I didn't even touch you. Don't accuse me of such childish behavior.." she muttered.
"Hey wait. Aren't you that weird girl who calls everyone by their class rank? What's mine?" the girl mocked, laughing as her friends joined in with her. "Year one, Number 299. Your rank is so low.." Seiren mimicked the girl's expression, easily finding her annoying. "You..got to be joking! Are you just saying random numbers?!" the girl shoved Seiren's shoulder.
"Why would I lie? Now leave me alone."
"What are you attention seeking for?" she laughed, continuously shoving Seiren's shoulder while she kept her eyes on her. "Get off me." she quickly grabbed her wrist. "Oh so scary. What are you going to do? Get your brothers to protect you?" she laughed a bit too loud, it was almost silent afterwards. "Huh? Say something Itoshi." her laughter filled the air.
"You're just a little bitch without them."
"A what."
Rin and Sae were rushing over to her. They saw that look in her eyes. Whenever she did agree to play with them, they hated it. Seiren got too competitive to the point it made her angry. They never knew why until now. She wanted to be just like them. She wanted to play like them. To get on their level. They teased her constantly, mocked her because she was a "beginner".
She couldn't stop her fist from coming in contact with the girl's face. It was a quick, simple punch. She flicked her wrist as Rin stood behind her, wide eyed. Seiren hated the fact that she was riled up so easily. "I'm going home." she mutters, leaving the girl as she fell on the bleachers. "You can't just hit her!" one of her friends yelled, consoling the girl.
Seiren blew out a breath as the ball rolled right in front of her. She came to a halt. She neared the corner of the field, a shot from behind was near impossible but she watched Sae do it. She watched Rin do it. So maybe she could too. Angling herself perfectly, swinging her foot before the ball curved and flew right to the girl's face.
"Shut up next time."
Seiren watched as the girl tried to run after her, wanting to fight her. She then turned on her heel and walked herself home. "I'm going to kill you!" she yelled. "Get back here!"
"Yo..you never said anything about your sister being badass.." Karasu patted Sae's shoulder before he shoved him off. He too, was equally surprised. The last time he had ever seen Seiren kick a ball was her first year in junior high. His eyes slowly traveled over to Rin, the same shocked expression on his face. Though his was more filled with amusement.
Rin ran over to his sister before she could leave his sight. "Renny.." he mumbled, grabbing her arm as her nose bled. "What?" Seiren asked, wiping her nose. "Since..when could you do that?" his eyes glistening in hope. In hope that maybe his presently dull sister could go back to her outgoing self again.
"Since you two left. Let go Rinnie..I'm going home.."
"I'll go with you then."
Seiren wanted to laugh. Not in a mocking way, but in a way where she missed this feeling.
"Go back to practice. You're still lukewarm." she waved him goodbye. Rin knew she was joking, it made his heavy heart feel lighter. So when Rin came back with a small smile on his lips, Sae let out a breath he had been holding in. "Is she okay?" Isagi asked Rin. "She's fine. Don't ask me. Ask her yourself." Rin rolled his eyes, changing his expression completely.
"Your sister is insane Sae! Aren't you going to do something about it?!" the girl yelled, tears streaming down her face. Reo sighed, walking around the fence before reaching into his bag, passing her his card. "You can have this for a week if you be quiet." his sweet smile almost made her fall for him. "Oh..uhm yeah.." she mumbled under her breath.
The team held in their laughs. Reo knew that the girl would've blabbered about the situation and probably would've gotten Seiren suspended. "Okay I'm in. Reo you're temporarily coaching." Sae said, passing him a clipboard as the purple haired male silently cheered.
Isagi kept his gaze on the empty space Seiren was sitting at.
"Do you like her or something? Zantetsu passed to you but you weren't paying attention.." Nagi mumbled over to him, watching Reo come back. "You said you were buying me a new game Reo." a small pout formed on his lips. "I already bought it." Reo shook his head, gazing over to Isagi. "Yeah do you like her?"
"What?! No! No..?"
"Okay..you're weird."
