"Is everything all right, Chigiri?" the young lady asked, watching as he sat down next to her on the bench without saying a word.
"Just taking a break." the young man finally replied, looking around for his water bottle.
Noticing this, the young lady, who served as the soccer club's manager, grabbed the water bottle next to her and handed it to him.
"Ah, thanks." he thanked her, grabbing the water bottle in her hands and taking a sip of it.
Y/n turned to watch the other students playing.
Chigiri quietly glanced at the girl next to him, his eyes fixated on how her hair was arranged in a way that would avoid strands of hair falling on her face that could block her vision. He observed how her hands rested delicately on her lap as she focused on the rest of his members playing. His eyes then looked up, admiring the calm expression she always managed to maintain no matter the situation she was in.
"Do you have a problem with my face?" the lady he was admiring suddenly asked, making him jump in surprise.
"Oh, nothing..." he mumbled, quickly glancing away to avoid her gaze; a gaze so enticing that it was enough to make the young man's heart pound with just one look.
Oh, how he tried to fight off the urge to not fall into the abyss she set out for anyone who met her eyes, eyes so alluring yet so cold.
"Chigiri, break time's over." the coach called out before the young man could start a proper conversation with the lady.
"Uhm...I have to get going." he stammered, rubbing his neck sheepishly as he stood up from the bench.
Y/n nodded, her eyes never leaving his figure as he walked back to the field and joined the rest of the players.
The relationship they had as childhood friends was a bit odd compared to others. Despite knowing each other since they were born, the two could never consider themselves as close friends. They were but mere acquaintances, whose older siblings happened to be best friends.
A smile crept up on the girl's face as she admired the way Chigiri outran everyone on the field. No matter the opponent, Chigiri was always on everyone's watch list to keep an eye on.
She had always found Chigiri to be amazing. She wished for them to grow closer to one another, just as their family hopes for the two of them.
When their game ended, Chigiri ran over to the lady on the bench, asking if she had a towel he could use.
"Ah, right." Y/n grabbed the towel from her bag, standing up to reach his level and dab away the sweat that was dripping on his face. Her eyes trailed off to his neck, questioning if she would be pushing it too far if she were to take care of it as well.
Making a decision, she decided that it was just sweat, nothing to be flustered or embarrassed about even if it was on the bare skin of his neck.
She lowered her hands and lightly pressed the towel on his skin, keeping her cool composure as she focused on her job.
In reaction to her doings, Chigiri shifted his glance to the field. He was already flustered that she was wiping away the sweat on his face, but being indirectly touched on the neck might be a bit too much for him to handle.
"You should take a break soon." the lady suggested, noticing that despite her attempts of getting rid of his perspiration, it just never seemed to end.
She was completely unaware that she was the cause of his excessive sweating.
Time went by quickly as Y/n folded the towel and told him he could go back to the field to continue their practice. Chigiri was a bit surprised and disappointed that his time with her had to end so abruptly, but it was fine. He thought it would be a good idea to take this time to relax his pounding heart.
And so once again, Y/n sat on the bench alone, waiting for him to finish his practice so they could walk home together.

*เณเผ your pov
"By the way, my mom invited your brother over for dinner, and she wanted to know if you could come along." he brought up, not wanting our walk to be awkward.
"Sure. I'm sure my older brother would be delighted to see your sister." I stated, acknowledging our siblings' bond with one another.
He slowly nodded, taking in the fact that I will be over at his place for dinner. There might even be a chance for a sleepover.
Our siblings were friends who met each other in highschool, so they've probably been together for almost a decade, considering the fact that they were already done with college.
When it was time for Chigiri and I to part ways, we gave each other a small wave before entering our house.
"I'm home." I mumbled, taking off my shoes and arranging it so it looked neat.
"Welcome home!" my father sang loudly from the kitchen.
I walked in the direction of his voice, only to see him trying to cook dinner for the rest of my siblings.
"Need help?" I asked, giving him a kiss on the cheek as my way of greeting him.
"I think I can manage on my own. Why don't you go to your room and rest? Today must've been tiring." he suggested.
I took that as a sign to go to my room and change clothes for tonight's dinner at Chigiri's place.
Right now, the house was being occupied by five people; that being my dad, oldest brother, me, my younger brother, and my youngest brother.
Dropping my school bag next to my desk, I sat down on my chair and stared at the nothingness the wall displayed.
Usually whenever I get invited by Chigiri's mom for dinner, it ends up in my brother and Chigiri's mom and sister gossiping the whole night. Thus, I get told to hang out with Chigiri while I wait.
That's how we started talking, to be honest. Though, we don't really have much progress in developing a friendship, we're gonna get there eventually.
I decided that I should get ready for tonight, so I went to my closet and chose something I could wear for dinner and for sleeping.
Once I was done choosing an outfit, I placed it on top of my bed before heading to my bathroom to take a shower and get rid off the stress inlaid upon my mind, body, and soul.
"Y/n!" I heard the sound of my younger brother's voice as he barged inside of my bedroom. He asked if I had used his shampoo.
"Ren, I did not use it! Go buy a new one!" I yelled back, my peaceful shower being interrupted over some dumb shampoo that he probably finished and threw away.
"I know you used it!" he argued, making my jaw drop in disbelief.
"While you're getting your new shampoo, you might as well go to a doctor to check your memory 'cause I know I did not use that shampoo of yours!" I shouted, scoffing at his accusation.
"Ok, I don't care." he randomly said before the sound of my door shutting came afterward, signaling that he has left my room.
This dude...
Not wanting to continue this futile quarrel, I got back to my shower as I tried to enjoy every bit of it despite how distasteful it was now.
Finally, I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body, exiting the bathroom and locking my bedroom door to block out any uninvited guests.
I listened to the way my foot tapped on the floor, cringing at the way my hair dripped with every step I took.
I then began to change into the outfit I had chosen earlier, staring at the mirror as I watched the way my arm inserted itself in the sleeves.
After I was done, I informed my dad that I would be leaving with my oldest brother to visit the Chigiri's. He agreed right away, knowing their household well enough.
Usually, it would just be my older brother and I going to their place for dinner since my dad and siblings were either busy or hated socializing.
I already informed my brother that we were going to visit his friend's place through text. Why through text? Because I was too lazy to head to his room even though it was just across of mine.
The door flung open before my oldest brother, Gouta, could ring the doorbell.
My eyes widened when I was suddenly engulfed in a warm embrace, quick kisses being placed everywhere on my face.
"Y/n, I'm so glad you made it!" Chigiri's sister grinned as soon as she stopped hugging me.
"Did you want to see me or what?" Gouta rolled his eyes playfully.
I was then escorted to the dining table, where I saw Chigiri already sitting there with his mom cooking in the kitchen.
"Ah! You two made it. Please sit down, dinner's about to be served." his mom warmly smiled at us, gesturing to the dining table.
Although I offered to help in serving the dishes, his mom declined my offer, saying that she didn't want to trouble me.
I didn't want to upset her, so I sat on the seat across of Chigiri, who was reading something on his phone.
I heard he made it on the newspaper again. I'm proud to be able to watch him grow into something great in the future.
After dinner, the three got to their gossiping while I headed for Chigiri's room to escape it since I wasn't interested in such things.
"Ah, L/n. You can come in." he said the moment he saw my head peeking through his door.
I opened the door wide enough for me to slip into his room. I then shut the door behind me, standing there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Chigiri didn't know what to do as well.
Because of the fact that we were of different genders raised in very different households, we always found it hard to think of a topic to discuss. The only thing we had in common right now was soccer.
"Congrats on making it on the newspaper, by the way." I congratulated, trying to break this uncomfortable silence.
"Yeah, thanks." he mumbled, looking away as he stared at the ground. I can tell he was trying so hard not to make this any more awkward than it already was.
Despite having siblings who were close together, despite growing up in the same neighborhood, despite going to the same middle school, and despite being in the same club, our relationship was still the same.
It's as if we were strangers who got forced into this situation, as if that wasn't already our state.
"Your hair's wet." he pointed out, noticing how my hair wasn't completely dried. It's not like it was dripping on the floor, so I'm surprised he noticed.
"Right. I just showered before I came here, so I didn't have the time to wait for it to dry up." I explained, using my fingers to twirl my hair around, my eyes trailing from my hair strands to the boy sitting on the bed.
"Hm, come here." he ushered, gesturing for me to sit on his bed while he gets something.
When he came back, he had a whole blow dryer in his hand and plugged it into a nearby power outlet.
Sitting behind me, he grabbed locks of my hair and instructed me to tell him if it gets too hot.
So, there I sat on Chigiri Hyลma's bed while he used his blow dryer on my hair.
I could feel the gentleness when he grabbed pieces of my hair, carefully allowing the hot air to hit my ends while it lightly kisses my scalp.
My body relaxed in response to the warm breeze being produced by the blow dryer.
So relaxing...
By the second, I could feel my consciousness slowly fading away as the blow dryer's warmth engulfed me in an embrace.
"Are you all right?" he asked when he noticed my head bobbing ever so often, trying my hardest to stay awake.
"Yeah, sorry." I hummed out, my eyes trying not to submit to my sleepyness.
"You sure?" he asked in such a comforting manner that it sent chills down my spine as he turned off the blow dryer.
"Don't worry..." I murmured, finally succumbing to my tiredness. My body went limp as it fell backward.
He used his hands to grab ahold of my shoulders, making sure I don't fall off the bed.
Chigiri then let out a small chuckle, "Was it a bit too much?" he asked, guiding my body to lay down on his bed.
I could feel my figure being covered in the coziness of his blanket as he adjusted my head to lie properly on his soft pillow.
"Thank you for always taking care of me." he whispered, moving pieces of my hair aside to take a good look at my face.
He then laid down on the futon on the floor that he put out for himself to sleep on.
Every time our siblings would hold dinners like this, Chigiri and I would always end up sleeping in the same room. Because of our growing age, things have gotten awkward at times.
In just a few minutes, the two of us fell asleep with the subtle murmuring of gossiping outside his bedroom door.
Chigiri's sister came to check on us. When she saw how we were already asleep, she switched the lights off and left us to fall deeper into our slumber, submitting ourselves to the dreams we look forward to having each day.
