It's happened ever since they started dating. She wasn't going to stop now.
She thought that being away from home would make her forget to ask, but she was wrong. What a shocker!
Her phone started ringing for what seemed to be the tenth time. It's only been three times. "Taylor again?" Sidney asked before taking a bite of her favorite candy bar, Pay Day. "She's not letting this go, is she?"
Y/n responded by shaking her head, soon letting out a sigh. "Honestly, Sid, you know how much I love Taylor. I just don't love parties." She explained. She was not even bothering to look up from her phone.
Her phone rang again. Once again, it was Taylor. She accepted the call, soon seeing Taylor's face pop up on the screen. She was smiling; it looked like she was invited to a party. "Our friends, Blake and Ryan, invited us to their New Year's party they're hosting nearby. Do you want to go?" She asked her with a hopeful tone.
"When is New Year's Eve again?"
"Tomorrow."
"Yeah, I'll go."
"Great!" She spoke happily. She was going to end the call, but she remembered her final question. "When are you getting home? I thought we could have a movie night."
"I'd say an hour or two." She replied. Not long after, she took a second to check the time. "I'll see you soon. I love you, bye!" She then ended the call, soon looking up at her friend. There was a disappointed look on her face. "What?" She asked her with a tone of confusion.
"What happened to not being a party person?" Sidney asked before letting out a laugh. "Let's get you home before your wife worries too much." She teased, soon earning an unamused glare from her friend.
"I hate you."
"Correction: you love me."
Y/n rolled her eyes playfully before letting out a laugh. Now, it was time for Y/n to get home.
They made it to their friends' party around ten p.m. the next day. When they walked in, they noticed all the people with drinks in their hands. Some were playing games; others were chatting in small groups or dancing to loud music.
"I'm going to get a drink; do you want anything?" Taylor asked her friend, practically screaming in her ear. Since the music was so loud, it was impossible to have a conversation.
She wondered how people were managing to talk to each other.
"Yeah, just get me some water." She replied, soon watching as Taylor disappeared into the sea of people to get to the kitchen.
Truth be told, the huge crowd made her nervous. Mainly if she didn't know the majority of the people. This was one of those cases. To make it worse, Blake and Ryan were nowhere in sight. This was going to be a fun search for her.
Some time had passed, and she never found Blake or Ryan. However, she did reunite with Taylor. She ended up sticking around for the remainder of the night. Taylor didn't mind, though.
Eventually, the countdown for the New Year had begun. People were moving around, looking for the person they would kiss at midnight. Y/n continued to stay close to Taylor; they had agreed to just hug at midnight since they were just friends.
"Five...four...three...two...one, happy New Year!" Everyone cheered before kissing the person they had picked out moments before.
The two friends smiled at each other before one pulled the other into a hug. Y/n would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy this familiar feeling. The familiar feeling of warmth and love. It was the same feeling she felt when they were together. "Happy New Year, Taylor." Y/n spoke happily as she pulled back to look at her best friend.
When Taylor looked at her, all she could see was the same girl she confessed her feelings to in her hotel room that night. Every day they spent together, Taylor fell in love with her all over again. That feeling is what caused her to do what she was about to do next.
Taylor looked into her eyes with a smile, and then she did it. She pulled her into a kiss. Now the crazier part: Y/n had kissed her back.
In that moment, it felt like time had stopped and they were the only people in the world.
This was something they'd have to talk about later.
When they got home, they never talked about their kiss. They ended up going to their rooms to sleep; Y/n wasn't sure what to say anyway. She wasn't complaining, but they were just friends. Taylor knew that.
That night, Taylor went to bed with a smile on her face. Y/n, however, didn't sleep at all.
Her thoughts were keeping her awake.
She let out a sigh and got out of bed. She walked down the dark hallway, soon standing in front of Taylor's bedroom door. After knocking on the door, she heard a tired groan from Taylor. She took that as a sign to walk in.
When Taylor heard the door close, she looked over to find Y/n looking at her. "Hey, is everything okay?" She asked with a tired tone, a yawn escaping her lips.
"Can we talk about something?"
"Yeah, of course." She sat up and moved over to give her space to sit. Y/n sat next to her best friend, soon staring at the wall. "What's going on?" She asked her again.
"You kissed me," Y/n said simply. Taylor was confused at first, but she remembered their moment at Blake and Ryan's party. The thought of it made her smile. "We're just friends, though."
"Are you telling me that you didn't feel anything?"
Y/n was confused by that question. That wasn't the case; it never was. Her feelings toward Taylor had never changed; they never would. Busy or not, Taylor was it for her. "No, I'm not." She reassured her and looked over at her.
"One date," Taylor said suddenly. Y/n wasn't expecting her to say that. She looked at Taylor with a confused expression. "Go on one date with me. Let me prove that I will make time for you."
One date seemed reasonable. If they were lucky, it would last this time. She couldn't bear to go through that pain again.
"Okay, let's do it."
