Everytime you're alone with someone for the first time, it's quite awkward, isn't it?
Hearing the sound of the clock ticking, feeling a sweat trickle down your forehead, and feeling that sense of tension in the air that you can't seem to get rid off.
But the more you get to spend time with someone who you thought of as a mere stranger, the more you get to know them.
Their name, personality, likes, dislikes, fashion style, how they're treated, how they treat others, and how different they are from who you thought they were.
A mere stranger could turn into a friend that will leave you soon enough, someone who would stay with you until the very end, or...they could end up being your lover.
But what's the first step?
Being Alone with You.

The treasurer of the five-member student council at Shuchiin Academy, Ishigami Yu. The man who is indispensable to the student council, yet hasn't made an impression on them.
The president of the student council, Shirogane, chose him to be the treasurer based on the expectations of his prowess.
Yes, the treasurer of the five-member student council, Ishigami Yu, is trapped inside of the Student Council room with me.
In the dark room, even the ticking had a relaxed feeling, as if it was a heart-beat at rest. In the twilight, the fabrics were muted hues, as if they too awaited dawn to ignite their colors for all to see.
Darkness came like the thick velvet curtains of the theatre. It was as if the daytime had been one part of a play and the rest was to come after this intermission of night. I let my eyes wander to the furniture.
Ishigami-kun wandered to the window to gaze at the stars, to peek into the universe...the spectacle that was given when all else was taken... as if commanding him to look and feel both his smallness and his oneness with something greater.
Ishigami-kun happened to fall asleep while listening to some music while I was immersed in my own work. Chika-san forgot to check if anyone was still inside and so, she locked up the room and left us both in here.
"I want to quit the student council." Ishigami-kun brought up, staring at the scenery that was displayed in front of him.
Ishigami Yu is a data processing expert. At Shuchiin Academy, only the president is elected. The other members are appointed based on their abilities.
Ishigami-kun is obviously a talented person who got scouted by the student council despite the fact that he had barely begun his first-year here.
Normally, he takes his work home and only shows up in the student council room for meetings, but he is a full-fledged member. And now, he just told me that he wants to quit the student council.
"Wh-Why? If...If you quit, the student council will go bankrupt." I managed to squeak out, stuttering in the process.
"But I've got an important reason." he mentioned, I stood up as he said this. He stood in front of the window like a piece of the night, like someone had cut carefully around him and peeled him away, leaving only blackness behind.
"Reason?" I repeated. If Ishigami-kun wants to leave the student council, then it must be very important.
"I think I'm going to be murdered. I think Shinomiya-senpai is going to kill me." he said, turning to me with a single tear escaping his eye.
"On what basis do you think that?!" I asked, wondering why he would think of such a thing.
"Her eyes. People's eyes are organs that are connected directly to the brain. Normally, half of the brain is used to process the sense of sight. The movement of eyes can show what someone is conscious about or hungry for. Those organs clearly reveal the brain's activity." he explained.
"I can tell five or six percent of a person's true character just by looking into their eyes." he added. That's not much though...I'm sure even the president can do the same.
"True character? Can you tell my true character?" I said without thinking. Realizing what I had just said, I quickly covered my mouth and apologized to him for asking such an innate question.
"Your character, huh?" he mumbled, taking slow but steady steps toward me. His footsteps echoed sharply around the student council room, sounding overly loud in my ears, like the booming heartbeat of a condemned prisoner.
Ishigami-kun now stood in front of my figure. His tall figure is extremely intimidating. He inched his face closer to my own, staring into my eyes.
People often call eyes the windows to the soul. But what exactly do we see when we gaze into the eyes of another person?
In fact, the eyes do provide lots of information about another person's emotional state.
Some experts, whose jobs require them to study faces, have observed that eyes are the window to the soul because they're the most sincere part of the face.
We don't have any control over our eyes, as opposed to the mouth, for example.
Our eyes don't lie; they're windows to the soul. They show the truth, no matter what face we put on, in any situation.
I could feel the heat growing in my cheeks. By now they must be beyond an attractive rosiness. They must be marking me out as a socially incompetent person.
I felt as if all my insecurities were written across my face and there was nowhere to hide.
As my anxieties mounted, they became a circle, like a song stuck on repeat.
The door swung open to reveal Chika-san who had her mouth agape. Our attention snapped towards her as we stared at each other in silence.
"S-Sorry for intruding." she stuttered, slowly closing the door and locking it back up again.

"There's an animal cage in front of you. How many cats are in the cage?" Chika-san asked.
"What kind of abstract question is that?" President asked, furrowing his brows.
"It's a psychological test! It's from a book I borrowed from the library." she answered.
"Just by answering this question, I'll be able to understand the depths of your mind, President." she added.
"That's silly. As if you could understand the workings of the mind with a question like that." he scoffed.
"Come on, just humor me. How many cats?" Chika-san bounced in her seat, impatiently waiting for his answer. President replied with nine cats.
"That tells me how many children you want!" Chika-san exclaimed, staring at the book in her hand. Nine kids? That many? That's like a whole entire baseball team.
Psychology tests. Abstract questions that draw out what someone really thinks.
Most of them have amusing game elements that employ the Barnum effect, but some of them are practical and based on actual psychology.
The person who thinks of these tests only as an amusing trifle and lets their guard down may be in for a bitter experience.
"I've got another really interesting one! Let's do it together!" Chika-san dragged Ishigami-kun and I outside our hiding spot.
"Oh, us too?" Kaguya-san questioned, holding up a stack of paper as she glanced at Chika-san who nodded.
"Are you ready? 'You're walking down a dark path. Suddenly, someone taps you on the shoulder from behind. Who is that person?'." she read the next question.
"Give me a hint." President requested.
"This isn't a quiz, so it doesn't work that way." Chika-san reminded. Why do I have to be included?
"My answer is Shinomiya-senpai..." Ishigami-kun answered, shivering with his eyes wide open. Kaguya-san answered with Chika-san.
"What about you, Y/n-chan?" Chika-san playfully poked my cheeks as she waited for my answer.
A dark path? Why would anyone pat me on the shoulder on a dark path? It could only mean that person wants to kill me!
"A...A monster." I answered. Only a scary monster would pat me on the shoulder while I walk down a dark path.
"I guess...my little sister." President replied, slightly smirking.
"The person who taps you on the shoulder indicates the person you're in love with. In short, the president has a sister complex." Chika-san read the meaning of the question.
I'm in love with a monster? A scary monster who wants to kill me is who I'm in love with?
"President, I think I have Stockholm syndrome, so I'm going home." Ishigami-kun whimpered.
"A-All right. Get well soon." President bid him farewell. He left after packing his things.
I'm in love with a monster that wants my blood? The monster wants to kidnap me and sell my organs to the black market and I'm apparently in love with them.
"President, I don't feel very well. I might have...Stockholm syndrome. I'm going home as well." I packed my things and left.
On the way out, I spotted Ishigami-kun standing by the school gate with his headphones on. He must be waiting for someone, I shouldn't disturb him.
"Ah L/n, can I walk you home?" I heard. I turned around to see Ishigami-kun staring at me with his headphones down.
"Huh? Uhmm...sure." I replied, pausing a couple of times to find the right words to say. I tried not to sound awkward, but I made it even worse.
"Is something wrong? You're awfully quiet. Well, you're always quiet, but you're quieter than usual." he pointed out.
"Oh, uhhh...why did you suddenly want to walk home together? Your house is in the opposite direction of where mine is." I replied.
"Well...I know you're afraid of crowds and I'm pretty sure the way to your home has a lot of people standing around." he answered.
"That's...that's really nice of you." I whispered, gently smiling on how considerate he is.

"Miss Kaguya!" Chika-san exclaimed.
"Ishigami-kun, there's an error over here." I pointed out, he nodded and quickly fixed it back up.
"Are you hiding something behind you?" Chika-san asked. Kaguya-san chuckled and said it was nothing.
Oh yeah, I forgot to return the pen I borrowed from the President. I should return it before I forget.
I looked through my pencil case and grabbed it. Standing up, I made my way to his desk.
"President, thank you for allowing me to borrow your pen." I thanked him, placing it on top of his table. I stared at the ground, avoiding eye contact.
"Oh, no problem. Please relax when you're in here, we're not going to bite you." he chuckled. That's pretty hard to do, but I'll try my best.
"L/n." Ishigami-kun called out as I took my seat which was right next to him. I turned to him and hummed in response.
"You changed your perfume, didn't you?" he mentioned.
"Y-You can tell?" I gasped.
"Yeah, well...the smell is different than usual. When we walked home the other day, you had a fruity scent that smelled like strawberries, but today, you have a floral aroma. It's cute." Ishigami-kun stated.
"Also, I kinda got used to your scent that night." he added, continuing to type in his laptop.
"That night? What did you two do?!"
"Ishigami...that's creepy!" Chika-san remarked. He noticed all of those things about me?
"I...I want to die, so I'm going home." a tear escaped Ishigami-kun's eye as he said this to the president.
"S-Sure. But don't die." the president sweatdropped. Ishigami-kun packed all of his things and left.
I stared as he left and I finally decided to chase after him. I'm pretty sure he got the wrong idea and thought that I also found it creepy.
"I'm going home as well. Take care!" I exclaimed, packing my things up and leaving the room to follow after Ishigami-kun.
"It smelled good, so I meant to give her a compliment...it smelled so good..." Ishigami-kun chanted over and over again.
"Ishigami-kun!" I shouted, gaining his attention. I've never shouted this loud in my life before and I didn't stutter as well.
"L/n?" he responded, turning to face me with tears rolling down his cheek. I took a deep breath and threw away my shame.
"We're supposed to walk home together, right?" I reminded, heat began to rise to my cheeks. This is so embarrassing!
"Why would you walk with someone like me? I'm creepy, aren't I?" he asked. I shook my head in response.
I have to admit that it was a little creepy, but it was pretty nice for someone to notice a small detail about you.
Ever since we got locked up in the student council room, we began to hang out more and would spend most of our time together since the both of us were first-years who works for the student council.

The Student Council has to deal with club activities and their budget. Shirogane asks Ishigami's opinion about the topic.
Ishigami wants to cut off the sports clubs' budgets, football, basket, baseball, just because most of them have girlfriends.
"If you've got a girlfriend, go on a date! Why are you even at practice? If you've got a precious girlfriend, what could be more important than her? When I have nothing..." Ishigami cried.
"L-Look, you know a lot about computers." Shirogane retorted.
"Everyone says the same thing to otakus." Ishigami mumbled.
"Maybe you should join one of those clubs." Shirogane suggested.
"Is it possible to be in a club and also do student council?" Ishigami asked, wiping away his tears.
"Well, Shinomiya, Fujiwara, and L/n do it, so it's not impossible." he mentioned.
"I see. What clubs are they in?" Ishigami inquired.
"I believe Fujiwara belongs to the tabletop game club. Shinomiya is in the Japanese archery club. I always see L/n hanging around in the photography club, so I think she's a member there." he answered.
Ishigami thought it suited Shinomiya which made Shirogane confused. Hell breaks loose when Ishigami starts commenting on their...you know.
"With Japanese archery, if you've got bosoms, the bowstring rubs against them when you pull it back. But with Shinomiya-senpai's size, there's no need to worry about that. She's like this." Ishigami chuckled.
"Ishigami! Behind you! Behind you! Ishigami! Ishigami!!" Shirogane tried to stop Ishigami as he noticed the dead-eyed Shinomiya standing behind him.
"I hear it's impossible to bind your bosoms with bandages up to D cup. I'm sure Fujiwara-senpai is way bigger than that, so the day she tried Japanese archery, her bosoms would be knocked all over the place! They'd be like this!" he laughed.
"Hit the brakes, Ishigami!" Shirogane yelled, trying to stop him once more since he noticed the enraged Fujiwara standing behind him.
"Oh, and have you seen L/N's bosoms? She tends to cover them with her arms, but when both of her hands are occupied, you can see how cute they truly are. She's so adorable when she acts so shy and covers them, so it makes you want to touch it like this." Ishigami laughed like a maniac.
(A/N: Y'all were getting annoying with the "I'm flat" comments, so I might as well address it here. I did not state the size of your bazookas. Meaning, Ishigami does not care about the size of them. He likes them as it is.)
"Ishigami, that's just wrong! Stop that!" Shirogane yelled, gawking at the petrified girl standing right behind Ishigami.
"Ishigami?" Fujiwara called out which frightened Ishigami to the core. He ended up being brutally beaten up by Fujiwara.
"You're lucky, Ishigami. Miss Fujiwara is kind, so she'll forgive you. Miss L/n is soft-hearted enough to forgive you for a few days. But I'm absolutely not gonna forgive you. I'm sure of it." Shinomiya said, making him shiver.
"President, I'm going home to write my will." Ishigami cried.
"S-Sure. But don't die." he reminded. He packed his stuff and left while muttering incoherent words.
"It was a life full of liking big ones and small ones...L/N's are still cute though..." he muttered.
