" all i wanna be, yeah,
all i wanna ever be, yeah, yeah
is somebody to you "
ELLIE PUSHED HER FISTS into the pockets of her leather jacket, avoiding eye contact with anybody, though she felt their concerned glances. She only wished that Rocket was with her, he would understand.
Even though she's been with the guardians for a year, they still didn't know what she had gone through before them, unlike Rocket, who knew everything.
Everyone stood on a platform as the craft landed. The entrance of the ship opened revealing the beautiful planet before them.
"Welcome, everyone, to my world." Ego said as he turned to them.
"Wow. You have your own planet?" Quill asked.
"Come on." Ego shrugged as he turned back around. "No larger than your Earth's Moon."
"Humility. I like it." Drax commented. "I, too, am extraordinarily humble." Ellie's brows knitted together as she looked at Drax. He glanced over at her and shrugged.
"No you're not." She said with a slight scoff.
"Yes, I am." Drax stated as he turned back forward, a proud smile on his face. Ellie was about to say something when she was distracted by the floating bubbles they were approaching.
Blake reached up in curiosity and poked the bubble, jumping back in slight surprise as it bursted into multiple more colorful bubbles. Drax smiled as he watched Blake and repeated the action himself, laughing as the bubble popped and made more bubbles.
They stopped in front of a ledge, the platform morphing to connect to it, making a walkway. A fountain was in the middle of the large floor, Ellie and Blake watching it with curiosity as fake fish circled the flowing water as if the fish were continuously jumping out and into the water.
"You own a planet and can destroy two dozen spaceships without a suit. What are you exactly?" Gamora asked, skeptical of the man and his intentions.
"I'm what's called a Celestial, sweetheart."
Ellie's face contorted in slight disgust, no one had ever called Gamora a "sweetheart" and it was an odd statement to be connected to Gamora. Gamora turned to the teen girl, their face expressions matching. Gamora, no doubt, thinking the same thing as the young teen.
"A Celestial, like a god?" Quill questioned.
"Awesome." Blake muttered with a smile. Ellie rolled her eyes at the comment.
"Mmm, small 'g', son. At least on the days I'm feeling as humble as Drax." Ego said before chuckling and continuing his way into a large building with Mantis following him. The guardians had stopped at the fountain, Gamora and Ellie sharing questionable looks. Finally after a moment of taking in the information, Quill followed after Ego, the rest of them going after him.
"Whoa." Quill gawked as they entered a large room, large orbs surrounding it.
"I don't know where I came from exactly." Ego began as the group approached an orb as it opened, revealing a picture of a flicking blue brain. "First thing I remember is a flickering...adrift in the cosmos utterly...and entirely alone. Over millions of years I learned to control the molecules around me. I grew smarter and stronger. And I continued building from there,"
They walked across the room to another orb, showing the layers of the planet they were standing on.
"-layer by layer...the very planter you walk on now."
"Whoa." Blake mumbled as he looked around.
"But I wanted more. I desired...meaning. There must be some life out there in the universe, besides just me, I thought. And so, I set myself the task of finding it. I created...what I imagined biological life to be like...down to the most minute detail."
"Did you make a penis?" Drax asked.
"Ew, Drax." Ellie groaned in disgust.
"Dude." Quill sighed.
"What is wrong with you?" Gamora asked him.
"It's a valid question Drax." Blake said as he nodded his head, agreeing with Drax.
"Thank you! If he is a planet, how could he make a baby with your mother? He would smush her!" Drax explained.
Quill groaned. "I don't need to hear how my parents..."
"Why?" Drax questioned. "My father would tell the story of impregnating my mother every winter solstice."
"That's disgusting." Quill retorted.
"It was beautiful. You Earthers have hang-ups." Drax added as Ellie shook her head in disgust.
"Yes, Drax, I got a penis." Ego responded.
"Ha! Thank you!"
"It's not half bad." Ego added.
"Oh." Drax said in surprise while Quill groaned in disgust, Gamora and Blake's eyes widening as their eyebrows raised.
"Ew." Ellie dragged with a whine as she squeezed her eyes shut.
"I've also got pain receptors, a digestive system, and all the accompanying junk. I wanted to experience what it truly meant to be human, as I set out amongst the stars...until I found what I sought. Life. I was not alone in the universe after all."
"When did you meet my mother?" Quill asked.
"Not long after." Ego replied with a fond smile. "It was with Meredith that I first experienced love. I called her my river lily. And from that love, Peter...you. I have searched for you for so long. And when I heard of a man from Earth who held an Infinity Stone in his hand without dying...I knew you must be the son of the woman I loved."
"If you loved her, why did you leave her?" Quill asked. Ego shook his head, not being able to answer.
"I did try to come back." Ego began. "-but at that time, she was with another man, who I assume was the father of Blake."
"Why did you leave?" Quill asked again. Ego opened his mouth trying to say something, but he couldn't.

ELLIE HUMMED A SONG to herself, a Fleetwood mac song stuck in her head. She stood in a room that was given to her. She slipped off her jacket, a gray tank-top underneath. She turned to reach into her bag, but her eyes caught a mirror in the corner of the room. She stood up and looked over her figure as she walked up to the mirror. She stopped humming and looked carefully at her arms through the mirror. Her eyes traced the scars wrapping around her forearms and biceps. She pulled her tank top off and dropped it at her feet, leaving her upper half in just her sports bra.
She raised her hand to her stomach and dragged her fingers over to the top of bumpy scars that littered her stomach and chest.
Outside her room, Blake hesitated as he reached for the handle. He exhaled and grabbed the knob, turned it and pushed it open as he knocked.
Ellie yelped with a gasp as she wiped around to the door, wrapping her arms around herself.
"Oh, sorry!" Blake quickly said as he realized she didn't have a shirt on. Ellie quickly reached down and grabbed her tank top and quickly pulled it on as her face heated up.
"What did you want?" Ellie asked, reaching for her jacket to cover her arms.
"How did you get those?" Blake asked, referring to the scars covering her arms, completely forgetting why he came to Ellie's room in the first place.
Blake didn't truly know why, but he felt a need to know Ellie, to know every single little thing about her. To know her past. To know her present. To know what made Ellie, Ellie.
"What?" She asked, she was so flustered about what just happened that she didn't register his question.
"Your scars, how'd you get them?"
Ellie stared at him for a moment before chuckling nervously.
"What is it with you and your questions?" She asked as she wrapped her jacket around her.
"Just curious about you. You're a very interesting person." Blake replied with a shrug as he entered the room and closed the door behind him.
"I'm not that interesting." Ellie said with a shake of her head as she walked out onto the balcony attached to her room. She crossed her arms and leaned against the railing as she looked out to the open planet. Blake watched her as he walked to join her. "It doesn't matter anyways," Ellie continued quietly, questioning herself. Could she tell him? "-you wouldn't understand."
"Try me." Blake stated with a small smirk as he leaned against the railing, his body facing her. Ellie stared at him as he kept his smirk on his face. He narrowed his eyes slightly at her, waiting for her to break eye contact first. Finally, Ellie glanced away back to the planet before them.
"Okay fine," Ellie sighed. "Get ready for a trauma dump." She added, trying to lighten herself up for what she was about to unload for the first time.
"Of course." Blake nodded and waved his hand, telling her to continue.
"When I was a baby," Ellie began slowly, taking a deep breath. "-I was...kept on a ship. I don't really remember who they were or how I got there." She looked down at her hands. "They are the reason why I have these powers and...these scars." Ellie took a shaky breath as her eyes began to sting. "I don't remember everything they did to me, I just remember screaming, being afraid...and being in pain all the time."
"How did you get out?" Blake asked softly as he grabbed Ellie's hand and gave it a squeeze.
"When I was around nine years old, Rocket and Groot had broken into the ship to raid it for parts, I don't know what for, but they stopped when they found me. Rocket broke me out of my cage and convinced me to come out, he told me that they just wanted to help me and that I was going to be okay. I've been with them ever since." Ellie smiled sadly as tears flowed freely down her cheeks.
Blake pulled on her hand, turning her towards him, before he pulled her into a hug, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I've never been able to say it out loud, let alone tell anyone." Ellie muttered as she wrapped her arms tight around Blake's neck. Blake squeezed her a little tighter, not knowing what to say.
After a moment, Ellie pulled away, taking in a deep breath.
"So, what's your story?" She asked, turning back to the railing. Her eyebrows creased playfully at the expression taking over Blake's face. "What? You're not the only one that gets to ask questions."
Blake sighed, a smile reappearing on his lips. "You're right. Um..." Blake sighed again looking out to the open planet. "I was a baby when Yondu took Peter and I, so I don't remember much of growing up. Once Peter got too old to fit into tiny spaces for thieving, obviously, Yondu had me cover it. As I got older, Peter and I clashed all the time. All we did was argue. I blamed him for-everything." Blake exhaled, grimacing at the memory. "For our mom, for our abduction, for our life. And then...four years ago, Peter left. He left me with Yondu and those Ravager assholes. Once I got the courage, I left too. Escaped in the middle of the night. Been on my own for about two years."
"Must have been pretty lonely." Ellie said softly.
"Yeah, well." Blake added quickly with a shrug, avoiding Ellie's burning stare.
"I think I can fix that."
"Oh yeah?" Blake asked with a smirk as he finally turned to her. "How's that? You gonna run away with me gorgeous?"
"No." Ellie giggled, a light blush coating her cheeks. "You could stay with us." Ellie corrected.
"I don't know about that." Blake laughed nervously. He stood up straight to leave, but as he took a step Ellie grabbed his hand.
"Come on, Blake." Ellie started. "You'd fit right in."
"I don't think your raccoon dad would like me joining the group too much. I don't think he likes me being around you." Blake said as his face grew closer to Ellies.
"Rocket? Nah, he just takes some warming up too."
Blake shrugged. "I'll think about it."
"Yeah?" Ellie asked, a growing smile on her face, a new excitement bubbling in her chest. Blake smiled back looking down at Ellie's lips.
"Yeah."
Ellie's heart pounded in her ears as she noticed Blake slowly closing the space between them. She wasn't sure what was happening or what she was supposed to do. They had both just dumped their past out into the open and her mind was running a million miles a minute.
The hair on her arms stood up, static currents circulating through the hairs in short sparks. His nose just barely grazed hers when a shock sparked between them, making them jump back, Blake letting out a short yelp in surprise. Ellie's eyes widened as her hair rose off her back and started to stand up.
"Um, I-I should-I should go. Yeah." Ellie said nervously as she tried to flatten out her hair. Before Blake could say anything to stop her, Ellie was already out the door.
Ellie didn't know where she was going, nor did she really care. But she walked with a purpose, and that purpose was to get as far away from that room as she possibly could.
She walked down a long flight of stairs that led to the strange orange crust of Ego's planet.
As she walked through the odd plants in the valley she tried to get her hair to calm down, pressing it firm down against her neck just for it to bounce right up again.
Soon, black and pink hair appeared as Ellie passed a couple of weird tall stemmed plants. As they brushed up against Ellie's arms, she made a grossed face.
"Something wrong?" Gamora said, not even looking back behind her to know that it was Ellie.
"No." Ellie replied with a lie, not so convincingly. "Why would you ask that?" She added as she held down her hair. Gamora turned her head, giving a look that told Ellie she wasn't buying it. Ellie sighed in defeat, letting her arms fall to her sides, her hair bouncing back up with static sparks.
The teen sat down next to the green woman with a huff.
"I think Blake just tried to kiss me." Ellie confessed. Gamora looked over at the young girl next to her.
"You think?" The woman questioned.
"Well I've never been in that situation before! I didn't know what was going on!" Ellie defended, her eyes wide and hair rising.
"I get it." Gamora said calmly, immediately calming Ellie down as well. "Men can be...confusing."
"Yeah no kidding." Ellie exhaled, her tense shoulders finally relaxing a little bit as her hair softly landed and calmed against her shoulders and back. "Sorry." Ellie said after a beat of silence. "I must have been interrupting your alone time."
"I was just thinking." Gamora told her.
"'Bout what?" Ellie asked, her curiosity growing. Usually whenever Gamora needed to think in silence, it was something about something serious.
"Does this planet seem odd to you?" Gamora asked. Ellie thought for a moment, she hadn't really considered it that much before.
"Do you hear that?" Ellie asked as she turned her head to look behind them. Gamora's brows furrowed as she turned as well. "What is that?" Ellie muttered as she squinted at the sky.
The two stood up, sharing looks of confusion. As the ship grew closer and closer to them, Gamora gasped while Ellie's face remained confused.
"Isn't that the Milano?" Ellie questioned.
Gamora grabbed onto Ellie's arm and pulled her into a run.
"What the hell?!" Ellie yelled as the ship began to fire at them. Gamora let go of the girl's arm as they sprinted as hard as they could. Ellie's muscle started to ache until her feet gave away and her and Gamora fell off a cliff. The ship hit and destroyed the ground they once ran on. Ellie groaned as she picked her head up from the red sand.
"Bitch." Ellie muttered.
"Psychopath!" Gamora said at the ship, that was now turning back around to them. Gamora and Ellie quickly stood up and started to run once again towards a cave. The Milano passed them once they entered it. The two panted, fighting to get air. They looked back out towards the swirling sky to see the Milano turning to face them, its goal to enter the cave they thought would be their safe haven.
"You're sister's insane!" Ellie yelled to Gamora as they started running further into the cave.
Ellie covered her head as Nebula started to shoot at them again. The young woman let out a scream when the Milano crashed into the entrance of the cave, rocks crumbling around them.
The ground below them started to crumble, Ellie's feet stumbled underneath her until her and Gamora fell down another short cliff. Ellie quickly rolled over to Gamora and created a shield in front of them, stopping large chunks of rock from hitting them.
When the Milano flew past them, Ellie let down the shield, getting onto her knees as she watched the ship finally land down further into the cave.
"Gamora." Ellie coughed as the girl looked at one of the Milano's guns that must have fallen off the ship. Ellie crawled over to the machinery and quickly connected the broken wires.
Gamora and Ellie lifted the gun onto their shoulders. Ellie grabbed the broken wires into her hand and sent sparks through them, wiring the machine up to life. Ellie tightened her grip to keep her from falling over once the large gun started firing. Gamora yelled as they stalked forward, keeping their aim on the front of the ship until it went up in flames and crumbled into a deep hole.
Ellie and Gamora tossed the gun to the side before approaching the hole, the heat making Ellie squint her eyes.
Gamora sighed, getting ready to jump down into the hole.
"You're not serious." Ellie laughed tiredly. Gamora shrugged before jumping down. Ellie sighed, hanging her head letting out a short mutter, "Damn it," and she jumped down.
Ellie shook her head in disbelief as she helped Gamora get Nebula out of the flaming ship.
"I can't believe I am helping save your psychopathic sister." Ellie grumbled as she created a shield to stop the fire from getting closer to her and Gamora.
As Gamora dragged Nebula from the wreckage, the ship suddenly exploded.
Ellie coughed while she achingly got to her knees. She rubbed her chest as it pounded loud in her ears.
Ellie jumped when she heard the yells of Nebula and Gamora.
"Are you kidding me?" Gamora yelled as Nebula straddled her, her hands wrapped around Gamora's throat. Gamora swung her hand at Nebula's elbow and flipped them over so she now straddled Nebula. Ellie shuffled away from the fight, not stepping in knowing Gamora had it under control.
Nebula was able to flip Gamora off, the two of them tumbling back and forth til Nebula pulled out a dagger and caught Gamora's throat in her hand.
Ellie swallowed hard, trying to think of what to do as Gamora wheezed for air.
If she were to try and electrocute Nebula, it would also transfer into Gamora. In her frenzy, Ellie did the only thing that she could think of, even if it was stupid to try.
"Stop it!" Ellie yelled at Nebula as Gamora gasped. Nebula didn't even spare the young girl a glance as she glared at Gamora's state. It took Gamora's fading, droopy, eyes for Nebula to yell in anger before
