AND WHOEVER HAS THE TISSUES HONESTLY GET 'EM NOW (not proof read)
After helping make trick arrows, and whatever else that could be needed, Kate, Aerus and Clint got ready for the big night. Another gala including the bishops that was about to be ruined. Honestly, it was as if it were normal, now. Aerus had sworn that if Yelena turned up any time during tonight, they'd just take her out, like any other of the tracksuits. But, more like Maya, perhaps?
Air, much like Clint, wore a simple tuxedo, and hadn't put much money into it, knowing it was probably not going to last in the nice, new and perfect condition.
There was people chatting away everywhere as the three looked around, earpieces already in for the discussions to get serious. Or about Christmas trees. Whatever came first. "I don't see my mom yet." Kate told the two, while Aerus kept eyes everywhere for Eleanor. In the one time that both Aerus and Clint had met Eleanor, she'd given them nothing but shit, talking about how unsafe Kate was, in case they didn't know that this whole job had UNSAFE AND DEADLY written all over it. She'd brought up Natasha when Kate was out of earshot, thinking it was an okay thing to do.
"Alright." They say. "What d you see?" Aerus asked her, eyes on some of the alcohol behind the bar.
"Not including alcohol." Clint told them. "What're assets, what are threats?" He asked Kate.
She had her eye on one guy from across the room. "Mmm. Threats? That guy." He was having an argument at one of the waiters in the red tuxedos. "That's Gary. He fired me from one of the only jobs I ever had."
"For doing what?" They asked her.
"Spying?" Kate answered, as if it were no big deal. "Assets, though?" She glanced around again. "Well, we have those all over the party." The younger archer wasn't wrong, either. All those in red tuxedos were actually the LARPers. And, had agreed on helping the three in this mission. Pulling Aerus out of thought, though- "Wow, Jack's out of jail already." Kate nodded over at the guy, at the other side of the party. "Nothing phases that guy..."
"So Jack wielding a sword," Clint began, "just out of jail for allegedly murdering somebody with one..."
"Maybe it's his way of proving that he really is innocent?" Kate asked.
"I dunno." They say. "But that's a really nice sword-" They added on, getting a slap on the chest by Clint, along with the shake of the head. "I mean- yeah, it's kinda like... a weird flex... but, okay." They stumbled on their words as they tried to create a coherent sentence. The night went on as the three found themself at the bar.
"Stay on coms, okay?" Clint tells the two, glancing around the room for the millionth time. "I'm gonna take a lap." He said before doing so, walking away. Both Kate and Aerus at the point knew if they carried on standing there someone could catch their eye, and that was not what they needed.
They walked around, with Clint sometimes asking the two if they'd seen her yet. No, the answer was no, still. But it didn't last too long, though. Even with the two security guards Eleanor had with her, there was no chance. The moment Kate set eyes on her mother, she was already striding towards the woman, with Aerus just following behind.
"We've found her." They told Clint, catching up to the girl.
"Kate, hi-" Before she could even finish her sentence, Kate was in first.
"Mom, come with me." The girl told her, as the two began to practically RUN out of the room, with Aerus still following behind. Eleanor caught on when seeing Aerus and Kate's annoyed and stressed faces.
"What are you doing?" Eleanor asked her daughter.
Air scoffed. "Am I allowed to ask that question back?" They asked, snickering.
"We're saving your life." Kate told her mother, with a lot of bitterness to go around. "Your business partner wants you dead."
"What're you talking about?" Eleanor asked the two, so Air took their phone out to get a good look at what Yelena had sent both them and Kate.
"Cut the bullshit." They told her playing the video.
"...which is why I'm a little confused where you're headed with this." Kingpin said on the video before the locked it again.
"Really, I thought your lying was a little better than this." They muttered as they put the phone away.
"How could you do this?" Kate asked her mom, ignoring Air's comments. "All these years?"
She had a panicked look on her face as a response. "You don't understand." Her mother said to the two of them. Try telling an Avenger they don't understand something they've been looking into with a straight face. "When your father died, I was blindsided." She told them, mainly Kate. "He owed that monster money."
Another entered the room, in his navy suit, and navy tie and navy tuxedo, with that moustache that quite literally must've been stuck on with fudge. "There you are! Oh... and an Avenger... I'm sorry to interrupt darling, but I really need to have a word with you..."
"Jack, not now." Eleanor said, before turning back to Kate and Air. "Sweetheart, Kate, Aerus, please don't worry about it, I have everything under control." The comment made Air snicker, and Kate couldn't believe what she was hearing. She could smell her mother's lies from a mile away.
Before anymore could be said, something smashing could be heard on coms. And both knew it wasn't just a dropped wine glass. "What was that?" Kate's hand went to her ear.
"Shots fired." Barton told the two. "We're workin' on gettin' these people outta here." He said, making them roll their eyes as they took the tux off as he spoke before throwing it over to Jack. Both Kate and Air started towards the door while the girl spoke.
"Mom and Jack, stay here." She told them.
"Kate, do not go out there, it's too dangerous." Eleanor raised her voice at the girl, and Kate gave them a look to go on ahead, to shout at her mother a little longer. So they did, and found themself running around the area, catching people and telling them to run for the exit.
"Who's shooting?" Air asked as they ran into Clint.
He shrugged as he took his suit from one of the LARPers. "No idea. You've got your suit?"
"Of course." They say, unbuttoning the shirt to reveal the suit. The vest, in all it's glory, holding two of their swords. "Find Eleanor and Jack. Get them as far away as possible." They told the LARPer.
"I'm gonna head downstairs." Clint told the two on coms. "Draw the fire away." They patted his shoulder before walking in the opposite direction, thinking of what to do. Things were escalating quickly.
"Copy that." Grills said on coms. "We're going into position two, guys. Wendy and Missy, kill the lights." And the lights were killed alright. They were killed so much, it was at that moment Air thought about buying the light up sketchers and bringing them on missions.
They helped the last few out of the building, before doing the one thing they hated. They waited for an elevator. Quick note: Air's patience is no more than paper thin, along with attention span. When they did get in the elevator, however, two were stood there, very awkwardly. One being their ex, and one being one of their biggest fans, still.
"What the fu-" Before they could finish their sentence and press the close door button, Yelena stepped in, and Kate went to, too, but Yelena stopped her.
"No, no, Kate, STAY." She said before standing beside them. She pressed 12th floor and they sighed as the door began to close. But, of course, being the icon she is, Kate got through at the last minute, making the Russian sigh.
Air stepped away from the whole scenario, standing behind the two and knocking their head against the wall for a moment. "Do they do that a lot?" Yelena asked Kate, of who shrugged before making a leap for the elevator buttons. Yelena slapped her hand. "No."
"Ow..." They heard Kate murmur. The younger archer tried to go again, but then again, failed horribly, finding herself standing still again.
"Kate, please, you're embarrassing yourself." They told her, turning back to the Russian. Yelena didn't even get one glance at them before they rammed her into the elevator door, causing the Russian to curse at them in multiple languages. "Sorry..." They muttered before tapping every single button on the side to offer. "It's like a Christmas tree." They say, quoting the film Elf as Yelena got up.
She turned on them, quickly kicking them in the shin while Kate stood there staring, unsure what to do. Letting out a hiss of pain, they then felt a punch to the stomach. Finally, Kate stepped in, heading to try and help, when Yelena pushed her back.
"I told you NO." The girl said to her, but Kate then did something 'Lena hadn't been expecting. She slapped her around the face. Yelena stared, while Air tried to get the air back in their lungs. "What was that?" She then caught sight of the door opening realising that every floor was to now be visited. "Seriously? Who did that?" They raised their hand, leaning against the wall. "Seriously, that is so annoying?" She told them.
"Much like yourself." They fire back as she took the green coat off, revealing her own suit. The girl then sprinted out of the elevator, with Air close following. Kate, meanwhile, was lost as the doors closed again.
"Wait guys-" Too late, Kate.
The two exes ran down the corridor, with one following the other, taking a sword out and throwing it when deemed necessary. When they did throw it, Yelena had just ducked it, catching it and getting on her knees as she slid across the corridor's slidable floors, throwing it right back at them when she got the chance to before running off again. They, meanwhile, had only just ducked from getting their head sliced off by the sword before continuing after he.
"Such a-" They stopped themself midsentence, sprinting after her.
Yelena rolled over a coffee table, while Air jumped over it before throwing a sword in the way of the girl. She turned back at them and threw a punch at their head, but they ducked in time. Just, not in time for the kick coming straight for their stomach. They threw the other sword at her feet as the other flew back, making the girl lose her balance for a moment.
As she went towards the next door, they threw the other sword at the exit, blocking it, as it stuck, wedged into the doorframe. Yelena raised an eyebrow at them, as if approving the skill of thinking ahead, but not ahead enough. She rolled underneath the sword and took it out of the wooden frame before throwing it back with such a force that they nearly lost their own balance when catching it.
Yelena carried on, while they tried to catch up to the girl, with more offices being destroyed by the two ex-lovers as they tried to stop her from killing one of their last best friends. At one point, Yelena almost seemed as though she needed a breather, but it was only a trick to get away, again.
She ran towards one of the building's front windows, one of the batons in her hand glowing red as she got ready to break the window, but Air knew better. They threw their sword at the same time, causing the baton to fly through the window, along with their common sense.
"OW." Yelena muttered to them, holding her hand in pain for a moment. "That really hurts."
"Glad you know how it feels." They muttered.
"Yeah, but you did a really good body throw-" She began, causing them to shake their head at this sudden conversation. They saw right through it.
"You gonna put the zip wire down, or what?" They asked her, already seeing it in her hand.
The girl smirked. "You're good at this, aren't you?" She says. A moment passed before she did throw it to the room's floor. "Bye." She practically jumped out the window, but they ran straight after her, with all their life just holding onto that one cable.
Such a dumbass.
They flew down the cable, warning Clint along the way it was Yelena and how she was basically there to ruin all involved lives. After missing by centimetres on the first shot, Yelena had gone to shoot again, but Air was in the way. She'd cursed under her breath as she put the gun away in her pocket.
And, of course, as they landed down, it was as though Yelena was never there. They couldn't find the girl anywhere. It was as though she had that magic cloak from Harry Potter.
"Did you get her?" Kate suddenly appeared beside them as they looked around in all directions.
"Does it look it?" Air asked her, a little annoyed.
"Good point." The girl said, but then something caught both eyes'. "Ah shit..." She muttered.
"You said you were good at fencing..." They murmured, holding out a retracted sword to the girl, eyes not leaving he vans of the trust a bro gang.
The girl stared down in amazement. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" She asked them.
"Don't ruin them, Kate, or I swear to God-" They didn't even get to finish their sentence as another came in the other direction. "You take one half, I take the other, DON'T RUIN 'EM." They shouted at her before running up to the first van load.
Ugly tracksuit number one went to attack, and before he even got close enough to do any damage, they hit him with the handle of the sword, before turning to the other and twisting his arm back and back. He let out a squirm while ugly tracksuit number three went to shoot at them. They blocked it with their elbow before then extending the elbow, hitting him in the nose. The action caused him to pull the trigger at the other who Air had now aimed the gun at.
As the sword then came back, ugly tracksuit four rolled up with a baseball bat as if he was batman. Haha, get it? Anyways, Air sliced the bat in half before hitting him with the end half while he wasn't looking.
"All done in my corner." They say, looking over at Kate. Turns out suddenly, they weren't alone, as they went to throw the sword, another sword got in first. Jack smashed the gun out of the tracksuit's hand and knocked him out. "Oh... wow." They say, pleasantly surprised by the man's skills.
"Jack?" The other girl, meanwhile, was a little unsure.
"Hello, sweetie." He said, as if she hadn't been trying to put him in prison for the last six days.
"BEHIND YOU-" But, Air's sword got their first, taking out the tracksuit by the legs before it flew back to them.
"Never mind." Jack said before looking back over. Kate began to apologise as quick as she could to the guy, actually sorry for the fact it was her mom who'd done it all. Another three tracksuits came his way as she apologised, and he took them out in STYLE.
The fighting continued, continued and CONTINUED, with more and more headaches for Air, and more hospital bills for the tracksuit mafia.
"So, great news." Kate said as Air beat another idiot.
"That did not sound as if there is great news." They tell her, throwing the sword away for it to do it's thing.
"Clint's stuck. In the Christmas tree..." They turned around to look at the tree when she said it, and did in fact see the dumbass archer.
"I'm quitting my job." They muttered.
"But, I've got my gear, so-" She handed them the sword back before holding up the bow and pointing to the quiver now on her back.
"Please, just... get him down." They muttered to her before turning to another tracksuit and punching him in the nose.
"Right.... it's okay. I've got a plan." The younger archer told them, already running away. Another two vans load came from another trust a bro truck, and they honestly, felt like shooting the whole van to dust.
"I feel like crap..." They muttered, throwing one sword at the first before fighting the rest. As they fought, though, they heard something beginning to fall. A hand went to their ear as they took a glance at the Christmas tree falling. "Kate..." They murmured.
"It's working!" The girl told them, causing them to roll their eyes before knocking another guy out. They caught the flying sword and began to run towards the ice rink before throwing it again. As it flew out in front of them, Aerus landed on top of the sword as they landed on the ice rink.
"You're a total show off." Clint told them, causing them to only smirk as they glided over to him by the ice. They helped him up, but quickly saw the whole rink was surrounded by tracksuits.
"Oh... that's boring." They muttered, glancing around. A bunch was about to come down the staircase, but he went to draw an arrow. He didn't get to fire, or draw even, as Kate was already with them both, shooting at boxes on the side of the rink, making smoke to come out of them. "That's iconic." They tell her. "But we're too exposed, still." They tell her as she seemed to glide over to the two others.
They all began to run, when Clint pulled an arrow and shot back at one of the tracksuits. All of the guns were suddenly stuck to the metal poles around the ice rink, and the tracksuits were suddenly defenceless.
"That should hold them off for a bit." The guy ripped off the already ruined top to reveal the suit Kate had insisted on.
"OH MY GOD, YOU WORE IT!" She said in total excitement.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah- you did too, right?" He asked them, making Air sigh before unzipping the vest and leaving it with his ruined top.
The Red Dragon. Kate had taken that literally. The design of a dragon, in red, was all around the shoulder and chest area of the suit, with two red swords at the sleeves of the shirt.
"OH MY GOD IT LOOKS AMAZING." She said, making them smile.
"Yeah, well, that's what you do for best friends." Air said, quoting what Kate had called them earlier on. "His doesn't look so bad, either-"
"Yeah, okay-" Clint tried to stop the conversation so the three could stay alive. "Listen, we need to get off this ice, okay? And the only way off this ice is up those stairs." More tracksuits were just coming their way.
"Great." Kate said, reading their mind. "Just about a thousand of them, and three of us."
"Yeah, well you've got trick arrows, I've got swords. What more do we need?" Air asked her with a smile. As if also reading their mind, Clint had placed arrows in Kate's quiver.
She glanced at the quiver's arrows. "NO WAY. IS IT TIME?" She asked the two.
"We'd be dammed if it ain't time." They say as Clint tried to tuck away the vest and shirt. How was he going to explain that shirt to Laura?
"It's time." He told her as the three then stood up.
"Okay, Kate." They began, retracting their sword. "You give 'em hell." They smiled before jumping upwards towards the staircase. One sword one way, one the other as they saw a blinding light in the distance from one of the arrows. They kicked back one before throwing a punch at another with the handle of a sword.
They sliced at one's ankles and then smacked him in the face, before watching him fall down the staircase, falling on the ice rink. More and more were coming around the corner, though, and it was getting annoying. They threw the sword and then punched a guy in the stomach so many times it was almost a given he'd now got a broken ribcage.
After all that round of fighting, though, it seemed as though it was finally quiet. They gave Clint a look,
