SCOTT HAD INFORMED HIS SISTER ABOUT THE PLAN they had coming together, and asked if she could come to the house before sunset so they could all be together to discuss it. Luna, of course, agreed deciding to bring Rebekah, Hope, and Derek. The Original even called her eldest sister into helping them put over a protection spell over the home so they couldn't get in after dark.
When the three of them arrived to Luna's childhood home, she held onto Hope in her arms. The sound of a car pulling up made Luna turn her head to see her mother arriving as well.
"Hey, mom." The brunette grinned as her mother climbed out of the car.
"Hey, sweetheart." She smiled approaching her daughter, she waved towards the Original. "Hey, Rebekah."
The vampire grinned to possibly her favorite person on the planet besides Hope, "Momma McCall."
Despite Rebekah being a thousand years old vampire, Melissa still treated the blonde as her own especially after finding out what Esther had did to them as a child, and being on the run from their father.
"Derek." The older woman sent him a nod which he returned with a smile. "Melissa."
Melissa grinned placing a kiss on her granddaughter's head, "Don't you look adorable? Yes, you do."
Luna grinned at her mother's babying voice something she remembered her seeing when she would talk to Scott in the same exact voice many years ago.
"Let's get inside, shall we? This sun is beginning to go down." Rebekah suggested making the women and Derek nod.
The brunette tilted her head in confusion at the sound of a familiar voice, she waited for her mother to walk in before following after her. But Luna froze at the person in front of her, though, it was the back facing her she didn't need to see the face to know who it was.
"Hey, what's going on?" Melissa questioned glancing towards her daughter to see her frozen. Almost like she's seen a ghost.
Derek frowned looking over to his fiancΓ©, he nudged her a bit but she didn't move. He watched as the man look behind him only to see him freeze as well.
Scott looked at his sister in worry knowing exactly how she felt about the man in front of him. Rafael shook out of it before sending his daughter a small nervous smile. She was much more bigger than the last time he had seen her, she looked like a strong woman.
"Luna." He breathed out.
The hybrid blinked slowly handing off her daughter to Derek, the wolf instantly took his daughter into his arms while keeping his eyes on her.
"H-howβ" Rafael's voice was cut off by Luna's.
"What is he doing here?"
Rafael's nervous smile faltered, "Lunaβ"
"Get out."
The FBI agent gulped at his daughter's voice, the man has dealt with far more scarier things while working for the Federal Bureau but seeing his daughter after many years was far most the worst yet.
"No."
Luna looked at the man taken back at his words. She scoffed out a breath. Rebekah looked at the wolf next to her with worry, which he returned the same look not knowing exactly how this would play out.
"Luna, I'm sorry."
"You're sorry?" Luna scoffed looking at the man in front of her.
Luna stalked towards her father pushing his chest, he stumbled back from the strength. "You did this. You broke your relationship with us. You're the coward who left us to fend for ourselves. You made the choice of not helping us out. We were forced to grow up so we could help mom." She narrowed her eyes feeling as the hot tears streamed down her cheeks.
"I'm going to stop right now for the sake of my daughter and my family . . . Just know that sorry isn't enough." She stated the crack at the end of her voice made Scott frown. Biting her lips before releasing a deep breath, Derek could hear the quick heartbeat from Luna. How much strength it's taking her to not get any angrier.
Melissa felt the tears fall down her cheek hearing her daughter speak to the man in front of him, the pain heard in her voice. Kira intertwined her fingers with Scott's after seeing his eyes water.
Rebekah could feel the tears brim her eyes knowing exactly what Luna was feeling and could understand what she was coming from. Derek watched with pained eyes knowing Luna needed this, to release all her anger towards her father that had been building up over years.
Rafael looked at his daughter with heartbroken eyes, knowing exactly he had failed as a father.
Silence filled the room the only sound was Luna exhaling a deep breath.
Rafael released a shaky breath, watching as the unknown man that stood beside her pulled her towards him. His eyes shifted towards the blonde woman to see her holding a child in her arms, the child staring blankly at him.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
Luna could feel the weight that had fallen off her shoulder, Scott looked at his sister with pained yet proud eyes knowing how many years she suffered. Letting him know the pain he put them through especially their mother, who struggled to raise them but still did an amazing job.
Melissa took a step forwards after she had wiped the tears from her face. "You need to go."
The FBI agent gulped before releasing a nod, he came to scold his son only to receive one from his daughter. He attempted to make his way out only for a sound to be heard from behind him.
"S-Scott . . ." Kira called out caused the whole group to turn. Luna's eyes drifted towards the living room when she noticed one to the shadowed people.
Rafael frowned at the thing in front of his, "Who the hell is this?"
He began to stalk over to it making Luna's eyes widen, Scott held out a hand. "Dad, no!"
"Dad, wait." But he ignored his son and continued to walk forward. Luna felt her heart drop as the sword pierced through her father's shoulder causing him to grunt.
Her eyes widened as she turned to Rebekah, "Get her upstairs and call Freya. This barrier needs to go up now!" The Original nodded before rushing upstairs with Hope.
Luna sprinted over to her dad's body, she looked over to her mother with worried eyes seeing as he was losing a lot of blood. She helped drag over her father's body when she seen Derek and Scott shift.
"Mom, the ash!" The hybrid ordered her mother making her nod. Luna stayed with her father as her mother ran off.
The brunette looked down at the paled man despite the argument she just had with him, and no matter how many time shes said she hated him. Luna didn't think she could ever, she just wanted him to know the pain they all had been through after so many years. There were many emotions going through her.
"We need to get him upstairs." Luna told her mother once she returned. The woman nodded giving Luna space so she could carry the man upstairs.
She laid him on Scott's bed, as Melissa came in with with a rag for his wound. Rafael looked out of it as he whispered, "Need to call for backup."
"This doesn't look good." Melissa stated examining the wound.
"How bad is it?"
"From the way that his arm is rotated the tendon looks torn. He could be on his way to a collapsed lung." Melissa explained keeping her hand firm over the blood.
Luna looked down at her wrist before sighing, "I can heal him. Tilt his head."
Melissa looked towards her daughter before doing as she was told, tilting Raphael's head up. She watched as her daughter's fangs bit into the edge of hand and squeezed droplets of blood into his mouth.
The nurse watched in awe as the wound slowly closed up and was nothing but fresh skin. Luna looked up at her father to see him passed out making her sigh in relief.
"That was a bit cool." Melissa pointed out.
Luna looked up at her mother before releasing a short laugh, she nodded. "Pros of being a hybrid. After he wakes up, I'll compel him to forget everything about the bad guys."
Silence filled the room, Melissa watched as her daughter kept her gaze on her father, she could see the worry flowing through her eyes despite everything.
Luna blinked before rising up from the bed, "I'm gonna go check on the others."
But before the brunette could exit the room, Melissa called out for her.
"You were the first one he asked for when he came back." The hybrid haltered her steps. "He keeps beating himself up because he left us, he broke down in front of me after I told him that you had a daughter. That you were actually making a life for yourself."
Luna felt the tears beaming her eyes once again as she turned back to face her mother, her gaze shifting towards her father who laid unconscious. "I should hate him. I should hate him for the pain he put you through, Scott, but . . . then I remember all of the good memories we had together. And I can't help but think he could be a good grandfather to Hope. I want him to be. "
She sniffled wiping the tears from her eyes, "But I don't know."
And with that, Luna made her way downstairs only for Derek to approach her. "You okay?"
Luna sent him a weak smile before nodding, "I'm okay." The wolf could see the pain in her eyes making him pull her into his arms, he could feel her relax in his arms followed by a tired sigh.
"Is the protection barrier Freya preformed up?" She asked pulled away making him nod. "Just in time."
Luna stood at the table keeping her gaze locked with the shadowed person that stood behind the barriers, she could feel the darkness all around it, staring deep into her soul.
"I wasn't going to hurt her." Aiden argued causing her to turn her head. Derek nodded, "Not yet."
The hybrid's guess was they were talking about the Japanese girl that Scott was protecting, or getting close with.
"Why do you think we're here, Derek? For a study group?" Aiden scoffed look at the ex-Alpha. "We're here to protect Scott."
"We're trying to fight for him." Ethan added.
"I'm sure you are." Derek shrugged glancing towards Luna, he tilted his head turning around. "I'm sure you'd kill for him. But are you willing to die for him?"
Silence filled the room making Luna nod her head knowing she's gotten their answer. Everyone in the house including Rebekah would be willing to die for their own, Derek was even set to risk his life for his fiancΓ©'s brother.
She gripped onto table as the ground beneath her began to shake, her eyes snapped over to the window to see one of them banging against the barrier. Scott walked into the room, "What are they doing?"
"Testing for weaknesses."
Luna narrowed her eyes as one of them began to poke their samurai's through the barrier making tiny gap appear. Her eyes widened seeing that one of them broken through the first barrier.
"Guys?"
Everyone turned their head to seeing the line of mountain ash broken, Scott gaped wondering how they weren't able to get in even after the line his mom put out was broke.
"How is this happening?"
"Freya was able to put up a protection barrier around the house . . ." Luna explained to them but paused when she saw one of their hands go through, "but it seems like they're getting passed it."
Scott immediately pulled out his phone and began to dial his ex-girlfriend's number, "Allison, please tell me that you have something. They're here. They're trying to get in. And it looks like they're gonna be able to do it."
"Okay, okay listen. They're Japanese demons. They're called the Oni. They're looking for someone possessed. Someone with a dark spirit attached to them." The hunter explained.
"A nogitsune." Scott pointed out looking towards Kira.
"How'd you know that? Scott?"
He shook his head, "Just . . . Tell me what else."
"Okay, they won't hurt you. They know you're supernatural but once they do this check, once they realize that you're not carrying with you this dark spirit, then they won't hurt you, I promise. All they're looking for is the nogitsune." Allison assured the Alpha and with that the call ended.
Luna's eyes widened when she noticed the last barrier had broken. Derek stood in front of the hybrid along with Aiden and Ethan as the Oni's began to pour in.
"Don't do anything." Scott stated making everyone stare at the Alpha.
"Is he serious?" Aiden frowned. As they began to step closer, Luna pulled back the three wolves in front of her giving a path for the Oni's to approach Scott and Kira.
"You heard him."
Scott looked over to his sister, his hand intertwined with Kira. The hybrid sent him a comforting smile which made him nod. She watched as two Oni's did something similar to her, Rebekah, and Derek on Halloween night.
Aiden took a step forward but Derek stopped him, keeping him in place. The Oni's looked deep into their souls before dropping their bodies onto the group and with that they disappeared.
The hybrid dropped her knees checking behind both the teen's ears to see the small 's' which made her sigh in relief knowing they were not the nogitsune.
