The next two weeks were filled with processing. Processing what my mother had said when we met and the different things I'd have to do for and at the wedding. And processing what Draco said... and why he said it.
'Life is a mystery' seems like a good way to describe it, though it wasn't true. It wasn't life that was the mystery, it was the things in it. The people in it, specifically.
"Merlin this music is loud," I yell over the bone shaking music, taking a sip from my drink.
Time had been flying by quickly at this time of the year, meaning that it was now time for Slytherin's party before winter break. Though this was one of the only parties I actually got the reason for; last day of school before a long break.
"You know what I never get?" Theo asks, completely ignoring what I had said.
"Love and affection?" Blaise responds, a goofy and drunk smirk upon his face as he wraps his arm around Pansy's waist.
"Hilarious Zabini." Theo narrows his eyes at the boy, before looking around the crowded common room. "I never get why this isn't a Christmas party,"
I shrug slightly, my eyes wandering around the crowd as well, unconsciously searching for a certain blonde that was nowhere to be seen.
"Not a bad question, Nott." Pansy lifts her eyebrows, leaning her head to the side.
"Gonna steal all the girls with your questions," Blaise teasingly nudges Theo's shoulder, winking at him.
A small smile appears on my lips at their joking, leaning against the back of one of the couches.
The three of them— Theo, Blaise, and Pansy— continue talking, though my focus completely shifts to someone else who has now come into view. Draco.
My eyes instantly recognize the suit he had on. Though this time, there was no jacket with the black turtleneck that made his torso look practically irresistible. The sleeves of the turtleneck were slightly rolled up, showing off the veins in his forearms. His hair had a slight messy look to it, though it fit him perfectly. He was lucky in the appearance department. Very, very lucky.
His eyes meet mine after a few seconds of me noticing him, a small smirk growing at his lips. He knew. He knew how fucking good he looked.
I bite the inside of my cheek as to get rid of the urge to bite my bottom lip. Didn't need to boost his ego any higher.
"Hey mate, where've you been?" Blaise asks, his gaze moving to Draco who takes a step closer to me, also leaning against the couch.
The blonde shrugs in response, taking a sip of his drink as his other hand slides into his pocket. "Nowhere bad,"
Theo snorts quietly, brushing his hand through his hair. "I- for some reason- find that quite hard to believe."
Draco licks his lips, smirking and arching an eyebrow. "Believe what you want, Nott." He says with some sort of mysterious tone, shrugging again.
My brows furrow with confusion at his response, wondering why and if he was hiding something.
"Hey at least warn us if there will be any girls in the dorm tonight," Theo chuckles quietly, taking a sip of his drink.
I swallow thickly, my heart seeming to get stuck in my throat. Was this some sort of regular thing?
I notice Draco's small glance down at me, before he stands a little straighter and inhales sharply. "No warning necessary,"
Theo cheers silently, lifting his heels as if jumping. "I'm gonna go grab another drink,"
"Not too much!" Blaise warns Theo, quickly walking to catch up with him.
Theres a moment of awkward silence between Pansy, Draco, and myself, as the music continues to blast and we all take sips from our drinks once in awhile.
Pansy clears her throat, earning my attention. "Uh can we talk real quick?" She asks, though doesn't wait for an answer before pulling me away from the common room.
"Something wrong?" I ask, my brows furrowed with confusion as we stand in front of the door to our dorm.
"I meant to tell you this earlier but um-" She chews her bottom lip, avoiding my eyes. "Would you mind staying with Theo and Draco tonight?"
"Wouldn't Blaise be ther-" I begin, though stop as I realize. My eyes widen slightly, and my lips part with shock. "Blaise wouldn't be there becau-"
"Because he'll be in there. Yes." Pansy interrupts me, pointing to the door.
I stare at her in shock for a moment, still trying to process this all. "Are you guys gonna like-?"
"I-I don't know yet, Y/n, but I don't want you there if it does happen."
"Oh I don't wanna be there either," I huff humorously, shifting my weight to my other hip.
"Anyways- I'd suggest you get anything you need now before he gets here." She says, a bit of panic in her voice.
I lean my head slightly to the side, a small frown forming on my lips. "Hey- don't be scared Pans. Although you have every right to be scared, as does every girl, you've got Blaise Zabini— the most respectful and kind soul I've ever met. Nothing bad is gonna happen."
She searches my eyes for a moment, nodding her head slowly. "Thank you- really." She whispers, taking a deep breath in.
I smile at her, before opening the door to our dorm. "Can't wait to hear everything," I wink jokingly at her, walking inside our dorm.
She huffs humorously at my words, walking inside as well. "Don't expect to hear everything. Most things, yes, but maybe not everything."
I walk by my bedside table to grab my wand, sticking it into my skirt, near my hip. "Alright alright, maybe not everything. His size might be important to know though-"
"Y/n!" Pansy gasps, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Shirt size- of course... y'know, for Christmas." I grin at her, proud of my joke.
"Merlin you're horrible," She laughs quietly, shaking her head slowly.
I grab two different books for entertainment in case I somehow found it boring in the boys' dorm, before slowly walking backwards to leave. "Eh, you love me for it,"
She rolls her eyes, brushing out her bangs with her fingers. "I do though- I love you a lot,"
"Shhh you're boyfriend might find out about us!" I joke, holding up my finger to my mouth.
"Get outta here!" Pansy laughs, pushing me out of the dorm jokingly before closing it.
After a moment of smiling from the conversation I had just had, the realization hits me of who I'll be spending the night with. Draco. I sure hope he was serious about bringing no girls to the dorm.
I hesitantly begin to walk to their dorm, knowing no one would question me going into a boy's dorm as it was a party night, meaning it wasn't rare for something like that to happen— Blaise and Pansy being a great example.
I give a few light knocks to their door, though after a moment of no one answering, I walk inside. No one was there, as Theo and Draco were both still at the party. I look around a bit, before walking over to Blaise's neatly made bed.
The three of them always had a pretty clean dorm, though that was usual for children who had grown up in rich Slytherin families. There weren't many decorations either, just some small posters hanging around the room; specifically near Theo's bed.
I set my books and wand on Blaise's bed, before sitting on it and looking around a bit more.
The setup was simple, but nice. Blaise's bed was to the right when you walked in, Draco's to the left, Theo's straight ahead. Each bed had a beside table near it, and a desk on whatever side the beside table wasn't on.
(A/N: i made a little picture of what i imagine the their dorm layout is like ! use this if you want, it's okay if you don't want to though ! )
After staring at a few of the quidditch posters (trying to figure out if I knew the teams) I open one of the books I brought, tucking my knees closer to my chest before I begin to read.
There wasn't much of a reason I decided not to go back to the party, though I felt pretty partied out. Thats one thing that came with overthinking: tiredness.
I read for the next 15 minutes or so, trying to ignore the blasting music that I could still hear from the party. Though after awhile, my boredom starts to grow.
I slowly get up, setting the book down quietly as if being heard by someone would be horrible. I give a quick glance to the door, before biting the inside of my cheek.
My feet begin to walk around the dorm, exploring the boys' random knick knacks knacks either set on their desks or bedside tables.
Theo was the least organized out of the three of them, random papers spread all across his desk. Though the stuffed bunny on his bed was quite admirable.
Blaise's side was very neat, nothing other than a few pencils and a lamp on his desk. A small smile grows at my lips as I look through the few pictures he had on the wall above his bedside table. Most of them were of Pansy, though a lot of them had the whole friend group in them.
I begin to wander over to Draco's side, a bit of excitement growing inside me. His bed smelled just like him, urging me to take many deep breaths in, though I ignore it. His area looked very similar to Blaise's, though more books on his desk. A reader, I suppose.
The corner of a piece of paper sticks out of the drawer in his bedside table. I shouldn't open it. I shouldn't open it. I should not open it.
Though my hand completely ignores my thoughts as I slowly open the drawer, realizing that the piece of paper was a music sheet. My eyebrows raise with curiosity at the sight, wondering if he still played the piano.
My curiosity doesn't last long though, as I notice something else in the drawer.
My lips part in shock as I stare at it. The flower crown. The flower crown I had made in that field we were laying in. The flower crown he had placed on my head, before I kissed him.
It wasn't dead though, the flowers on it were alive as ever. He must have put a spell on it.
I lightly graze my fingers over the flowers, my breath shaky from shock. He still had it. He still has it.
A rush of panic grows throughout my body as I hear footsteps near the door, causing me to quickly and quietly shut the drawer. I practically sprint back to Blaise's bed, opening my book and pretend as if I were there the whole time.
A few seconds later, the door opens and a familiar blonde walks in. Luckily, with no girls.
I try to focus on my book rather than him not noticing me, though the urge to scare him was quite strong.
After a moment of silence, I feel his eyes on me and a small chuckle leaves his lips. "Think you've got the wrong dorm,"
I bite my bottom lip gently, my eyes glancing above my book to see him slowly walking to the end of his bed and leaning against it.
"Wish I could say that was true," I inhale sharply, sitting up a bit straighter before turning my eyes back onto my book.
"Pansy and Blaise?" He questions, not much context to his words though I knew what he meant.
"Mhm." I respond, not caring to look up from my book.
Silence washes over us, though I can still feel his eyes on me.
After a minute of silence and him staring at me, I finally lift my eyes to meet his, arching an eyebrow.
"Since you're here, I've got a question," He finally speaks, crossing his arms over his chest. "Could you explain why I've just got an invitation to your mother's wedding?"
My stomach drops at the question, and I can feel my heartbeat rapidly speeding up.
"What is there to explain?" I respond quietly, looking back down to my book.
"Well-" He shifts slightly, now putting his hands in his pockets. "Would you want me to go?"
My brows furrow with confusion at his question, causing me to look up and search his eyes for some sign of joking. "I'm sure you can make that decision on your own."
"Y/n thats not what I mean-" He sighs. "I just want to make sure that if I go, you don't absolutely hate me once we're back at Hogwarts."
I slowly let my eyes fall down his body before looking back at his eyes. "I won't hate you. I'll be there too."
He nods slowly, licking his lips.
"Draco I said to give me a warning! I can hear the girl in there!" Theo's voice suddenly comes from the other side of the door, clearly disappointed.
"Relax Theo, it's just Y/n." Draco snickers, yelling back to Theo without taking his eyes off of me.
"Oh- ok," Theo responds, turning the door knob before randomly shutting it again. "ARE YOU FUCKING Y/N?!"
I press my lips together to hide a smile, quite amused by the situation.
"No, Theo-" Draco's smirk grows, eyeing me up and down. "You can come in."
Theo slowly begins to open the door, his eyes immediately moving to Draco's before quickly glancing at me. "You two stay there- at that distance- all night." He instructs us as if we'd pounce at each other at any moment.
I roll my eyes, setting my book down before standing up from the bed. I glance at my wand in my skirt, and the two books I brought. "Shit." I mutter under breath. I forgot to bring pyjamas.
"Something wrong?" I hear Draco ask me, now sitting on his bed.
"I've got no sleeping clothes," I bite the inside of my cheek, slightly panicking. If I was in normal clothes, it'd be no problem, though since I was in party clothes, it was definitely a problem.
I hear Draco get up from his bed, though I don't pay attention as I stare at the ground, thoughts swirling through my brain.
A few moments later, I feel something being dropped beside me on the bed. I glance to my side, noticing a pair of grey sweatpants, and a Slytherin quidditch sweater. I look up to Draco who was walking back to his bed, muttering a small "thanks" under my breath.
I pick up the clothing, walking to their bathroom to change into it. Their bathroom was surprisingly a bit bigger than mine and Pansy's, though I suppose it made sense since they've got three people rather than two.
After putting the sweater and sweatpants on, I take a moment to inhale the wonderful scent on them. These boys and their colognes.
Once I'm finished brushing my teeth, I leave the bathroom, walking back to Blaise's bed. I get under the blanket, fixing the pillows a bit before meeting the eyes I felt looking at me.
Draco had a massive smirk on his face, as he poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue, clearly amused by me wearing his clothing.
I roll my eyes at him, wishing I didn't love wearing his clothes as much as he seemed to love me wearing his clothes.
What a night.
