"Merry Christmas Crow," I smile at my owl as I roll over in my bed, still waking up.
Christmas Morning. I loved the thought of it even though I'd be spending it with no one, nor would I be opening any gifts.
I rub my eyes, stretching my arms out before sitting up in my bed. After a few more moments of waking up, I stand up and start walking to the bathroom before my foot hits something on the ground near my bed.
A small box was wrapped neatly, no tag or letter on top of it. My brows furrow slightly as I bend down to pick it up, unwrapping it slowly and cautiously. Once I open the box, I see two vials, one filled with a clear liquid and the other filled with a glowing string.
I pick both of them up one at a time, inspecting each by slowly turning them around in my fingers. As I look back into the box, I notice a small folded up piece of parchment. I unravel the parchment, reading what it says. Use the Phoenix tears when needed, and the memory when told.
I realize immediately that the clear liquid is the Phoenix tears, and the glowing string is a memory. It was hard not to take this as a threat from whoever the sender was, though I did appreciate the tears.
We had learned in second year that Phoenix tears can heal, which ended up being what saved Harry from the Basilisk's venom.
I set the vials back down into the box before sliding them into my bedside table drawer to use "when needed".
Once I'm all dressed and ready to do absolutely nothing, I plop down onto my bed, a small sigh leaving me. It wasn't the no gifts I was upset about, it was the loneliness. Especially on Christmas.
Though I wanted to regret not spending Christmas with my dad, I knew that even if I was home he wouldn't be with me, as he was spending the day with some of his old friends, which made me happy.
A loud and dramatic sigh leaves me as I fall onto my back, my legs dangling off the side of the bed. A few light knocks on the dorm door distract me from my thoughts, making me sit up immediately with confusion.
"I'm here to clean your room," A high pitched voice says from the other side of the door, only growing my confusion.
"What the..." I mutter under my breath before slowly walking over to the door. I turn the doorknob cautiously, sliding the door open.
My jaw drops as I realize who it is, my brows furrowing with confusion. "What the hell are you doing here!?" I say as a grin grows on my face.
"Glad to see me?" Draco grins too, before I wrap my arms around his shoulders, going on my toes to hug him.
He wraps his arms around my torso, laughing quietly as he returns my hug. I let go after a moment of contemplating whether it'd be weird if I just kept hugging him for awhile, though obviously decided it would be.
"Well yeah sure but what are you doing here?!" I ask, excitement still in my voice.
"I couldn't let you spend Christmas alone," He smiles, before walking into the dorm.
"Well sure you could've! You have a family to spend Christmas with, Draco!" I respond, nudging his shoulder as slight concern fills me.
He laughs, rubbing his shoulder where I had hit him before he sits on my bed. "They didn't show,"
My happiness immediately falls as I slowly sit on my bed, searching his eyes for any sadness or disappointment. "Oh- I'm sorry..."
"Hey don't be- I'm right where I want to spend Christmas." He smiles reassuringly at me, his hand slowly moving to touch mine.
"On my bed?" I quirk an eyebrow, a joking smile on my lips.
"Well when you put it like that," He raises his eyebrows, inhaling sharply.
I roll my eyes, flicking his arm at his immaturity. "I'd stomp on your foot if I could."
He tilts his head to the side as he laughs quietly at my annoyance. "So- have I interrupted any plans you had for the day or may I stay?"
"Hmmm," I pretend to think, looking around the room. "I suppose you can stay," I sigh dramatically.
"Good," He grins, standing up quickly and throwing my coat at me. "I wasn't gonna leave anyway."
I catch my coat, standing up slowly. "And where exactly are we going?"
"If you follow me you'll see," He opens the door, a goofy smile still plastered on his face.
I huff humorously before standing up and putting my coat on. Before I can even zip it up, Draco grabs my wrist, running out of the dorm. We run through the dungeons and pass many different classrooms with teachers in them who give us confused looks.
As we run out of the building, hitting the cold air, I gasp quietly, earning a quiet laugh from Draco as he continues to speed through the cold weather.
We finally make it to the quidditch pitch, extremely out of breath. My hand flies up to my chest as I try to catch my breath. "You-" I swallow, "are horrible."
Draco smiles, a small laugh leaving him as he catches his breath as well. "And you love it,"
"What are we even doing here?" I ask, looking around at the quidditch stands that were covered in snow.
"Well I thought we might fly for a bit," He shrugs, walking over to a small shed that I assume is filled with donated brooms.
"In this weather?" I ask, still panting quietly.
"No weather will stop a true flyer," He smirks, tossing me one of the brooms which I barely catch.
I inspect the broom slightly, doing my best to keep it off of the snow. "What makes you think I'm a 'true flyer'?"
"Well I don't think you are-" He hops on his broom, levitating a few feet off of the ground. "yet." He quirks an eyebrow, glancing down at the broom in my hand.
"Yet?" I question, still not attempting to mount the broom.
"If you practice for awhile, and improve in quidditch then you could try out for the Slytherin team and possibly even make it," He smiles proudly.
"Draco-"
"Alright alright fine, if you don't want to try out I'll accept it-" He interrupts me, raising his hands in innocence. "But at least try to fly,"
I glance down at the broom in my hands, shaking my head slowly. With a quiet sigh I mount the broom, slowly levitating up to him. "Y'know I really preferred it when I was on your broom," I say as I stare down at my shaky broom from my nerves.
"Oh?" He asks suggestively, quirking an eyebrow with a small smirk.
I roll my eyes, wanting to fly away though I knew it would end up failing.
"Why don't you hop on then?" He asks, looking down at his broom.
"What?"
"Hop. on. this. broom. instead." He says slowly with annunciation.
I look down at my own broom before looking back at him. "How?"
"Stand up and jump." He grins, clearly amused by my question.
"You're joking-"
"Not at all."
I stare down at my own broom, considering what to do. Without much thought or consideration, I slowly bend my knees up to my chest. I get into a squatting position, my hands still gripped tightly to the wood. I carefully begin to stand up, holding my arms out for balance.
I stand for a moment, trying to process what to do next before I look over at Draco, causing me to wobble slightly, trying to regain my balance.
Panic fills my thoughts before I jump onto Draco's broom, to which he immediately grabs my waist, holding me tightly as I slowly sit down in front of him. "Merlin you've got a death wish for me," I exhale loudly.
He laughs quietly, resting his chin on my shoulder. "Excitement is fun."
